Love Herzog. Haven't been here in so long, but returned recently for a day of wine and eats for a vendor presentation. Herzog provided everything we needed including breakfast, glassware and amazing lunch options. Not to mention adjustments when the weather shifted. A great layout. Best restroom facilities and information about their amazing winery and its history. I've been part of the Wine & Spirits industry since 2012 on an off and more recently back on + Herzog is one of the best and oldest kosher wineries in the world. Joseph Herzog is an amazing man and the VP of HWC, I met him a few times in the past but it's been YEARS. I didn't get a chance to speak with him directly, but he thanked us for coming out and along with the rest of the Herzon team/family was nothing but welcoming and thoughtful. One of my favorite draws about Herzog overall is that's is 100% vegan friendly as well as kosher, making it suitable for so many people. And Tierra Sur is very vegan friendly - some dishes are vegetarian. Do let they know about allergies and restrictions and they'll do their absolute best to accommodate. Their Alexander Valley wines are some of my favorites for sure. read more

I had such a wonderful experience at the Herzog Wine Cellars! I met with some Friends/Colleagues at Herzog on Saturday the 15th. Parking was plentiful and spacious, the weather was lovely (not raining), and the space is beautiful! Upon entering everyone is very friendly and I was able to find the table easily. Both Alvin and EJ were very attentive to our table, always smiling bright and happy to see us, assuring that we had everything we needed, and made sure our taste testing went smoothly. We were given a wine list and we were able to choose six wines to wine taste from the list. My absolute favorite wines were between the Special Reserve Merlot 2023 Alexander Valley and the Sonoma Loeb Dignitary Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma. These were both excellent and smooth, however, ALL the wines that I taste tested were phenomenal. We also ordered the garlic fries, the buffalo chicken sandwich, and the Mushroom Arancini. I personally loved the Mushroom Arancini the most, very flavorful and perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken sandwich was a good portion and easy to share. The garlic fries did not taste very garlicy to me, the creamy sauce on top I wasn't sure if that was supposed to be garlic, but I probably would just get the regular fries next time. We were not very impressed. Food choices were very limited and the wine was only mediocre. The good news is that the ambiance is very nice.

Came here last night with friends. We were a party of 8 and for some reason our wine steward kept deliberately skipping one person in our party during the tasting. We had to keep telling her to come back. She was rude and unprofessional. We liked a couple of the wines that was served but we will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Visited this beautiful winery on a Sunday afternoon for a delightful wine tasting experience under the guidance of wine steward Michael who was not only very knowledgeable about all the wines but also very warm and friendly. All of the wine was very good! Lovely ambiance here at Herzog, the staff is so hospitable from the moment you walk in the door. The smash burger and fries were also very tasty. Wine tasting is $25 per person for a flight of 6 wines. I rather go home with a bottle of wine per person, so I never leave empty handed! As long as you buy a bottle of wine, then the wine tasting is waived. Portions are small but the quality of the food is notable. It's a perfect place to enjoy conversation with a friend, or group of friends. All while enjoying great service, good wine, and tasty tapas. I hate to say this, because I used to be a member of the wine club and have been a proponent of this establishment since day one. I'm just really disappointed that they thought it was necessary to charge a 22% tip on one glass of wine (photo) for one person. The food at the restaurant is good, but I will not rave about it since I was treated so poorly at the tasting bar. They did not make me feel welcome. I don't see a need to ever go back. read more

After living in Ventura County for over 20 years, I never knew a beautiful winery like this existed in Oxnard. As soon as you enter the building, it feels like you have entered a spa. The pace and vibe of this winery is so relaxing and the patrons are also all friendly. The staff is very well trained and attentive to everyone. I didn't have any food, but their menu looked very tempting to grab some lunch. I was here just to pick up a few bottles to buy as gifts. Happy Fat Tuesday! I think been to Herzog once before. Not sure why I haven't been back but I was missing out! My friend invited me to stop by as she is a member of their club. What a great place. So nice and not loud. My kind of spot! We had a few tastings with her membership. She can have up to 6 guests. So cool! I liked every wine I tasted and I'm not a wine person! We ordered fries and fish/chips. I really enjoyed the fries and fish but didn't care for the chips. Heather, our server, is the best! Such great customer service. Our glass was never empty and she kept refilling our water. Such great service. She also told us about the froRosé in the summer. Like whaaa... I'm there! Had a good time tasting wine on a date there. Some of the wines were decent, and a few were exceptional. The decor is fancy and sophisticated. The sommelier was a character, very friendly and outgoing and made us feel like we were family. The food was pretty good. All in all we had a wonderful time here. I am not a member, but I have friends that are. As a result, I've attended at least three wine tastings and it's always a wonderful experience. The building is lovely and truly a little hidden gem in the middle of an Oxnard industrial park. I have not yet taken the winery tour nor eaten there, but I do appreciate their wines. I've been here twice now. Once for dinner with the husband. Their menu and wine pairing were on point. Next I had friends visiting from San Diego and we did a tasting with some snacks. I was a bit apprehensive driving up to this place. Never been to a winery or wine cellar in an industrial office park. And I couldn't find a parking space near the entrance. I think I got the last spot tucked around the building. My opinion began to change when I entered the building. Nicely decorated and a neat tasting bar area with friendly service. I did a tasting and half way through, I ordered a smash burger. I liked all six wines I sampled. The hamburger was tasty. I ended with a couple cups of coffee. read more

We came back here on Christmas Day for a mid day tasting. This is a Jewish winery and we found that they are located in Oxnard (and not in Los Angeles) because of tax purposes. It's a huge winery with a equally huge restaurant and parking lot! Everything is delicious and wonderful and they have local wines as well as international wines. I need to give another shout out to Mike, who gave great descriptions of the wine we were about to try as well as poured the wine tasting immediately once we finished our previous tasting. He knew which wine we were on and was very adept at recognizing and pouring for all the people around us too. He was a fantastic conversationalist and also know how to fade in the background when my husband and I wanted to talk (aka argue) amongst ourselves. This place is closed on Friday and Saturday. It might sound frustrating due to your work schedule, but they are open till about 7 for tastings (check with the winery to be sure). I don't know many (read:any) places open that late for wine tasting, so go after having a horrible day at work...or a wonderful day. You get to taste 6, one ounce wines with 2 revisits. So plan your visit or Uber/Lyft/really good rideshare/friend share accordingly. Very pleasant afternoon spent here trying some wines for a tasting. Wine tasting is $25 per person, with a sample of six wines. Entirely worth it in my opinion as the pours of wine were very generous. If you purchase a bottle after, the tasting is free. A lot of the bottles for sale are less than the $25 fee so I'd suggest going that route if you liked any of the cheaper wines. Made reservations online for wine tasting for 7:15 pm with the intention of enjoying their Tapas menu for dinner. On the web, it stated that our reservation is for 1.5 hours. We arrived at 7:20 and were told that the kitchen closes at 7:30 pm, despite our reservation being for 7:15 and reserved for 1.5 hours. The wait staff said that the herzog kitchen will close and that unfortunately there would be no time to get to the wine tasting. She highly recommended that we try Tierra Sur for dinner instead. We felt kind of disappointed because we were looking forward to a wine tasting. Nevertheless, we went ahead and sat at the Tierra Sur restaurant and had a pleasant but rather bland tasting dinner. We decided to make earlier reservations for the next night for the wine tasting at Herzog again. So they have wine tasting and Tapas or appetizers to pair. Since we were "wined out"from the night before, we decided to only order the food, as the menu looked quite appetizing. Now let me tell you, we ordered everything from the menu and it was all delicious. Full of flavor. The dates and facon appetizer was delicious, both sandwiches were great, the fried mushroom was excellent. Everything was just full of flavor. The ambience and vibes were great. Tierra Sur is a top-notch, all Kosher restaurant (non-dairy) located in the Herzog Wine Winery in Oxnard, CA. FYI depending on the traffic 1-1.5 hour drive from LA. Don't expect vineyards. It's a commercial wine making operation with a beautiful dining room. No valet self park in front of the restaurant. The menu is based on a prix fixe table d'hote model, with several choices for each course, but they have an a la Carte option for anything on the menu. Incredible experience. The tastings change every two weeks and the depth of variety is very impressive.
