Words can not describe how terrible and overpriced this is. Even Coke tastes different, worse. OK, TV screens are gigantic and better than cinema next door, but if you are coming for a game, bring your own snacks (probably not allowed). Only plastered single guys who are sports fans can recommend this as a great place to grab sth to eat! Ozzie, Kiwi and South African sports bar sprawling over two floors. This is THE place to watch any live sorts events. We were there during champions league play and all 6 matches were being shown on various screens around the place. From regular sized flat screens to two of the biggest screens I've ever seen inside a bar (10 square meters at least was the biggest) there was wall to wall football. This is an absolute wet dream of a place as you sit in a section watching your tea and can see almost all the other games taking place. The commentary is also mixed between the games so you can hear one game and watch another. Cheers ring out and you look around to see where the action is. Simply great. The one thing missing though is free wifi. Bit of a miss in my opinion. Service though is swift and friendly with a large variety of beers and food. This would be my favorite sports bar if I lived in Dublin. read more

This is absolutely an awesome place to watch any sporting events. They seem to cater to Americans, even checking I.D. if you look under 21. Came here nearly every Sunday during the NFL season, they were life savers, as I wasn't sure where I'd be able to watch the games on Sunday. Two floors, with a BUNCH of TVs everywhere! Could a sports fan ask for anymore? Food is good, and priced fairly. And the workers here are extremely polite. Awesome place, awesome atmosphere! read more

The main draw of The Woolshed lies in its appeal as a venue for sports viewing - being a sports bar and all, but personally my visits there have never been on such raucous occasions, so I can't judge it on it's credentials as a place to watch the big match. Located adjacent to Cineworld, to me The Woolshed means grub prior to, or few drinks after a movie. The place is big and roomy, but I've never seen it look empty, despite the fact that I'm usually there mid-week. The food is reasonably priced and very tasty. There's a good atmosphere and the staff are chirpy, giving the impression that they actually enjoy their work. Karaoke Thursdays are a good laugh. There are TVs dotted around the place displaying the words of the songs, so you may find yourself joining in with the lairy lads and lassies destroying tracks like that Titanic song, which in fairness was painful enough in it's original form. With €15 pitchers of cocktails on offer, you might even hit the stage and enthusiastically belt out a few yourself. read more

I love this place because I'll actually drink the beer here. Apparently the South Africans have beaten the Germans in my uncultured beer-tasting palate as Castle beer kicks most other places' attempts. Well, that and good memories of Cape Town. Although known predominantly as an Australian sports bar, it has some of the best alcohols from the southern hemisphere around, including two of the nicest ciders you'll ever taste...if Bulmers is too sweet for you, but beer ain't your thing, try the Hunters Dry or the Savanna...words are not enough! read more

The wool shed is a bar with a down under theme. The food is beautiful although its not cheep but the big screens make it al worth it. The bar plays almost any game you could want to see and can have more than one game playing at once. Drinks are reasonable and pitchers of beer are available for 12e. On wednesdays there is a brazillian party with funky live music and on thursdays there is karakoe!! The atmosphere in here is relaxed and fun and the staff are friendly (and have amazing accents) After watching a match here its hard to watch one anywhere else!! read more

I love this place for its variety of sports showings and pitchers of beer, but only problem is of late. I recently ordered a large order of chicken wings from the starter/app menu over the weekend and I'm not sure if it's cause I'm American(from Buffalo) or what the deal is but this were down right awful. The sauces were spot on but the chicken wings were smaller than the size of my thumb or better yet about half the size of my thumb. For spending 10.50 for a large portion and getting ones the size of my thumb or smaller seemed ridiculous. Then to top it off, the guy next to us got this sampler platter of ribs, wings, fries and maybe something else idk. But he got normal sized wings and spent 3e more, so not sure what gives here. Why didn't we get the big wings? Wings are dirt cheap, and hell I'd even rather have a few large/normal sized ones than these infant sized ones. I'm not one to complain but this just seemed odd, especially that we pay only a bit less than what the other person got and he got normal portion and sized wings/food. thanks read more

I went there in January 23rd for a birthday with collegues and friends and everything was very good. I really enjoyed being there. We arrived at 8pm and we stayed until it closed (1am or so). We had beers and other drinks for free in exchange of birthday cards (so strange ;) and we also paid for a wonderul birthday cake (they seem to make some) we ate with our drinks. That was very funny cause we also played bingo in a really nice and chilling atmosphere. I didn't ate anything else here, though. People seem to say it can be expensive but I didn't pay attention to the menu. I really recommend it! read more

i really hate giving places less than 3 stars but for some reason, i'm just not a fan of this place... the only reason i ever find myself in there is because i'm either waiting to see a movie at cineworld next door, have just seen a movie next door, or am forced into going there by some friend who for whatever reason loves the chaos and ruckus that is the woolshed. i am not a sports fan. nor am i australian. nor do i enjoy singing terrible karaoke (not sure if that was a regular thing or if i just got extra unlucky). i actually didn't even get that it was an australian themed pub til about 3 weeks ago when they had australia day festivities there (which i missed). my general experience there is usually pretty annoying, sweaty and claustrophobic. i'm a small person and as such, have a difficult time getting any kind of respect in a crowded pub full of rowdy, testosterone-filled sports fanatics. if i can escape with only getting an elbow to the head once, i consider myself lucky... i know it's like the only place in town you can see american football, but ugh, that's half the reason i moved away from america. sorry guys. i really do feel bad for my not so good review, but i do feel i need to be honest about my experiences there... read more

This pub is one of the best places in Dublin to watch any sort of sporting event. They have 2 big huge screens and also have lots of LCD tv's around the place, So you have a view of a tv almost anywhere you stand. I was in there last friday night for the France v Paraguay game in the world cup, it was jammed inside and the atmosphere was electric which made it feel like a home game for Ireland!! There is a mix of nationalities in this bar which brings a really good atmosphere to the place. Two African men even had those much complained about vuvuzelas but I myself thought that it added a little something to the atmosphere. This pub has 2 bars, one downstairs and one upstairs so you are never waiting long for a drink even when the place is jammed. They also sell food but i did not try anything as I had just ate before i went out so i cannot comment on their food. Although one thing I saw which I thought was a really great idea, There was a guy going around the pub with a hot bag selling hot dogs and burgers which is all you really want with a pint as you are watching the football, especially if you don't have a seat and you are standing up!! The staff are also very friendly and it can make it a lot less frustrating waiting to be served when you are looking at such eye candy on the other side of the bar, well........ for men anyway :) Another good aspect of this pub is that the security man on the door never seems to stop anyone from entering and when you go outisde to the smoking area he is always talking and joking with the people outside smoking. It is rare to find a bouncer like this and I think owners of other pubs and clubs around the city centre could do with going to the woolshed and seeing how it works because sometimes their bouncers create as many problems as they prevent. I have been to the woolshed now many times and I have yet to see even the slightest hint of trouble inside. You can also buy pitchers of beer so if there is a group of you drinking the same beer it can be handy to just grab a pitcher instead of having to try carry 3 or 4 pints through a packed pub!! we all know how messy that can get :) Overall i give the Woolshed a big thumbs up as somewhere to go to watch the world cup games or any sporting event! read more

It is a decent place to go watch a game and I like the food. Multiple floors to sit and view. My only real problem and reason for the low score is the bouncers are jackasses. One I saw one about to kick a guy out and being a total jerk for doing nothing other than standing in the wrong spot and arguing with someone. Meh. Really really meh. I used to like this place - being an avid Cineworld goer it's nice to have a place for pre- or post movie munchies - but the last time I went I felt really let down by the food. First things first - I have been coming here for years, and the food on offer changes a little bit every now and then, and as it happens a few of my faves have disappeared, but well, nothing that can be done about that. What was on offer was good though but this time I got a real disappointment. I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to pub grub, but there is one thing you cannot do in my book and that is - f*** up fries. Guess what, they did exactly that. The fries coming with my mexican wrap (meh again) were really not good. Some of them tasted ok, some of them tasted as if they were either old (bad) or they had been fried in re-used oil (also bad). I didn't finish them, and that really normally does not happen (I'm the kind who finishes OTHER people's fries). I'll probably be back simply because there are not a lot of options near Cineworld, and also if you want to watch a match in a big crowd, it's tons of fun here, but I might try to fill up somewhere else next time. read more

This place is awesome! 3 levels, too many Tvs to count, 2 giant screens for projection, good food. Was there while visiting Dublin about a month ago to watch my boys (ManU) get cheated by Liverpool. F-off with penalties, that isn't how you win. Playing the way my boys have this season, isn't either btw. This place was PACKED. I mean, standing room only. Luckily I got there 30 minutes before kick off and was able to snag a corner of a long table with my travel mate. It's conveniently located near oconnell street and directly next to a movie theatre. Google maps will take you down some shifty alleys when in reality all you had to do was go north on oconnell and hang a right after the penneys.... Cheers! read more

The only good thing about this place are the big screens. I watched one match here some time ago and it was quite enjoyable BUT the place is too full & there's not enough staff, the food is totally overpriced, it smells kind of strange and for some reason this is always the place where fights happen right at the door with or without the bouncers. It's very big and open and has televisions EVERYWHERE. It's great for people that love sports, especially American football. I came here with some friends for American Thanksgiving (which they have special meals for if you arrange ahead of time), to get some classic wings, cheese fries and potato skins. It's a great place, and all the servers were friendly and it was relatively fast for how busy the place was. The drinks were a bit pricy, but if you stick to beer you're good. The Woolshed is my favorite pub to watch any sport. The place is pretty big, so there is lots of room if you show up early enough on match day- it can get pretty crowded during the matches especially if there is a big Rugby match on. I've lost count of the number of TVs and screens they have but no matter where you sit, you're pretty much guaranteed a view of a screen. There is a number of bars and I've never had to wait for long no matter how busy the place was. They also do great deals on drinks, you can get pitchers of beer and a huge variety of liquor- shots. And let's not forget that the Woolshed also does pretty good food- I can highly recommend the chook burger! Added to that you will meet a lot of Southern Hemisphere lads here on match days. I've also been here on Karaoke nights and for pub quizes and I've always had a great time. read more

Couldn't say enough night things about this place. It's a good atmosphere and the staff are always very very friendly. It's absolutely packed for matches but always with a decent crowd so it's nearly always the first place I suggest heading when the group wants to head out for a few during a big sporting event. The beer selections is good (you can buy jugs of Moretti... has me sold) and reasonably priced. The food is standard but smells good enough it always tempts me. The portions are big to so at least youre getting your moneys worth. They have bingo nights on which is a nice little bonus since you don't feel obligated to participate but it's quite easy to win a free shot if you have a specific number the DJ calls out so who would say no to that. The place is just exactly what it says it is, and I appreciate that. read more

Went in to get something to eat before going to the cinema and I have to say I was not let down. Now this place might not be for everyone as there was a football game on so the place was hopping with large groups of men shouting at the TV screens and there was a lot of them. But I have to say the service was top notch with 2 mins of us taking a seat there was a waiter there with menus and asking us would we like a drink. The food was delivered about 20 mins after ordering and it was amazing I had a beer soaked beef sandwich with chips hot and full of flavour and was very reasonably priced that really could not fault this place I will be back read more

This place is great for a chill out pint or two. I visited with my fiancé & my parents & we had some pitchers of beer (which were actually no cheaper than just ordering pints separately so that was disappointing) & a platter of food between us. As it was just my finacé & I there for food we got the platter for 2 between us. It had lots of food on it & a good variety too. The chips were great, the onion rings were good, the chicken goujons were fine, sausages were good. Wouldn't be too keen on the spring rolls. But overall for €20 you can't complain! The first time I heard about The Woolshed Baa & Grill, I have to admit, I cringed at the images conjured up in my head. I had heard one too many stories about the Walkabout pubs of London, and the kind of over-the-top Australian backpacker scene - full of drunkenness, debauchery, and let's be honest, stupidity. I love a good night out, but the idea of going to the other side of the world only to hang out in pubs full of yobbos has just never appealed to me. Needless to say, I was wary. The Woolshed itself is not actually branded as an 'Australian' pub, although that's probably how the locals still remember it from days gone by, when it was known as The Outback. And to be fair, between the décor and the largely Australian bar staff, it still maintains a lean towards that heritage. These days, however, the Woolshed claims to be devoted to the 'best of the Southern Hemisphere'. According to the flags under the logo on their website/menus, this means Australians, New Zealanders and South Africans - though they also seem to hold a lot of Brazilian-themed nights. Whilst I would be too biased to comment on which countries truly are the best of the Southern Hemisphere, I think I could safely say that the Woolshed is representative of some of the best things about its nominated countries. The pub itself is nothing much to look at from the outside, but the open yet cosy interior provides for the best of both local and expatriate worlds. The warmth of the typically Irish timber fittings, coupled with a scattering of mostly Aussie and Kiwi decorations, is a little haphazard, but not at all off-putting. The pub is split into two main levels, with plenty of seating as well as standing room. The ground floor has two bar areas, with a pool table and small stage area for live music, whilst the upper level contains mezzanine-style sections with booth seating on either side of the main bar. An additional room upstairs, with its own separate bar, is also opened up to cope with additional patronage - usually for watching any of the many televised sporting matches (both live matches and replays where time zones might be unfavourable). This is probably where the Woolshed really comes into its own - as the hub of all things sporting. And whilst particular attention and effort is made to screen all things antipodean, the Europeans get a fair amount of local games as well. TV screens are mounted in almost every corner, to ensure the whole pub has the opportunity to watch the plays of the day - be they in rugby union, Aussie Rules football, rugby league, soccer/football (depending where you are from) or even cricket. The main wall of the bar has two projectors beaming the games for the benefit of most of the main upstairs bar, and this is really where the atmosphere - the cheers and gasps of despair - tends to focus. Such is the sporting repertoire that I once spend ten hours of a Saturday watching wall to wall sport. It started with an 11.00am live telecast of the Super 14 rugby semi-final - particularly good for me, because my team won that week (but let's not talk about the 8.30am final the following week). The morning turned to afternoon as the screens turned to the AFL, before the early evening brought with it a much larger crowd of Irish and French patrons to watch the Munster v Toulouse final of the Heineken Cup. During that ten hours, I had my first opportunity to sample the Woolshed's morning coffees and also some of its menu - and was suitably impressed with both. Having mentioned the Woolshed to a few Dublin locals, I have found that the most common remark about the place is to do with the food - and it's all positive. The meals themselves are fairly basic in principle - bangers & mash, chicken goujons, meat pies - but the selection is quite extensive, the meal portions are sizeable, and everything is well made and well-cooked. The Woolshed also stocks a large number of quality international beverages - and the prices, for Dublin, are pretty good. Pitchers/jugs of spirit and soda mixers are just €20.00, which (if everyone can agree on the mix) makes buying rounds for a small group fairly easy going. A pint of beer can cost as little as €3.80 and a snakebite only €4.80 - prices that might make people from England wince a little, but for Dublin they are more than reasonable. The staff are generally friendly and good-natured - I've yet to come across anyone there who hasn't gone out of their way to help when a question is asked of them - and the pub has an all-round, laid back feel. All in all, whilst it may be billed as a bit of an expat antipodean pub, there is a sense that all are (of course) welcome, and not just that, but the average group is fairly likely to enjoy themselves - with good food, reasonably-priced alcohol, and a relaxed atmosphere. read more

At first glance the pub looks welcoming but your man at the door is not welcoming at all. I hate to say it but honestly he was a bit racist and said something about my friend and I trying to be sneaky. If he had said "bold" or "cheeky" I wouldn't have been so upset but I've heard "sneaky Asian" a few times from Irish folk and I know it's not a term of endearment. Completely ruined what would've been a glorious evening since Dublin won the All-Ireland final but that meathead of a man ruined it. The bartenders would've been the saving grace if they had at all been helpful but they weren't. The Guinness isn't even that great. This spot is just terrific for sports fans and they show American Football upstairs. I was there for the Giants v. 49ers playoff game and the bar stayed open until 3:45 am to let all of us fans watch the entire game! The staff was great and the food is perfect for a sports bar! read more

However, the point of the Woolshed seems to be mainly to deliver Southern Hemisphere sporting games to those far from home. The interior is dark and it is quite easy to lose all sense of time while inside. All in all it does what it says on the box and delivers a little bit of the Southern Hemisphere. read more
