The menu is nice, plenty of traditional Irish dishes to choose from and like most pubs, plenty of whiskey and beer. We chose O'Connells for two main reasons, they have Toasties and Banoffee Pie. The Toastie was very basic with a simple white bread, ham and cheese, but it wasn't quite toasted enough to even melt the cheese, so it was somewhat disappointing for such a simple sandwich to make. The Banoffee Pie was pretty good, but it's the only one I've ever had, so nothing to compare it with. It was fresh, tasted homemade with a nice crumb base, creamy banana and toffee and topped with fresh whipped cream, or ice cream if you prefer.

I ask the bartender and he yells at me that they aren't serving food, then proceeds to complain to another patron about tourists coming in (I'm Canadian). It was rude and super unnecessary - if the kitchen was closed or something just say that, but he snapped at me and then complained about me in front of me for asking to order food, even though the place clearly sells food. Don't know if he was having a bad night or something, but uncalled for. I guess don't go here if you're not Irish or if you're hungry unless you want to get yelled at.

Fitzgerald's is in the Temple Bar section of Dublin so it definitely attracts tourists. However,…read moreI've seen quite a few locals patronizing on occasion. Even though it's a bit more touristy, it's still a great spot. A typical Irish pub with proper and good pub fare. The boyfriend had the beef and Guinness pie. We shared a Carlsberg as well as an authentic Irish coffee. I had a proper cottage pie (not to be confused with shepherds pie which is made with lamb). Mashed potatoes topped this pie of carrots, peas, and Irish beef. Good service and affordable pricing considering its super touristy location.

Environment: casual, typical Irish pub, abundant lighting, music not too loud. Service: friendly, but there seems to be only on server taking all the tables. My hour was not busy so she could take care of everything. Drink: Guiness stout, Irish signature, standard. Soup: soup of the day was chicken and potato. Didn't taste much chicken, but I love the way they diced the potato and used a slightly clearer broth base than potato cream soup. Can taste the little bits of fresh potato. Cottage Pie: can't go wrong with minced beef and veggies. Seasoning was on point, and I loved the fact that it was not overly watery. Generous portion of mashed potatoes. Overall: standard Irish pub, 3.5-4 stars.

The pub is quite large and can accommodate a large party such as ourselves for the afternoon. Lots of TV's to catch a match and craic to feel at home. We had a lovely veg soup upon our arrival to take the cold from the gravesite out of us and get the warmth back in. The soup was piping hot and light enough to leave room for a lovely tea sandwich or two. And the tea sandwiches were served with crunchy rippled cheese and onion crisps (Hunkey Dorys) that complimented the sandwhiches nicely. The service was a bit scattered but can't slag them considering we were quite a large party all at the same time. Once they got going they were friendly and attentive. The Guinness was nice, the tea and they make a lovely Irish Coffee as well. To you Uncle Paddy, it was an honor to sit in your local and celebrate you!

Thought provoking albeit populist musings on systemic corruption in Irish politics are always offered. If hunger in addition to an unquenched thirst draws you to Kenny's then I suggest the Planter's Peanut salad as an appetizer followed by Cheese 'n Onion Lasange. For smokers, the front patio offers spectacular views of the sun setting over Lorcan Avenue.
