(5 stars) My wife called the office for me when I needed to be seen, and Dr. Kyrell Wright and his team were able to get me in right away--even though it had been about a year since my last visit. From the moment I arrived, the office was professional, organized, and welcoming. Dr. Wright took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I understood the next steps moving forward. I really appreciate that level of communication and transparency. Let's be honest--going to the dentist is never easy, but the way they handle patients here makes a big difference. The staff is friendly, respectful, and helped make the whole experience a lot less stressful. I'm grateful for the care and consistency, even after more than a year between visits. Not my favorite place to visit--but definitely the dentist I trust. read more

Disclaimer: Long read. This is the only negative review I've ever written, but I felt the need to share my experience. While the hygienists(Tiffany & Colin?) at this office provided excellent and thorough cleanings, my overall experience with the dental care was frustrating and inadequate. In December 2024, I visited for a routine cleaning and mentioned ongoing tooth sensitivity, particularly to cold liquids and brushing (no issues with chewing). Dr. Cross performed a brief examination, determined there were no cavities, and assured me my teeth were fine. However, the sensitivity persisted and worsened over time. By March 2025, the sensitivity and pain was more consistent, prompting me to contact the office. The front desk staff was dismissive, but Dr. Cross later called me directly and offered to see me the same day. Upon examination, he diagnosed a loose filling--an issue that should have been caught earlier. The cost for the replacement filling was initially quoted at $270, but moments after beginning the procedure, the nurse corrected the price to $350. (They did end up crediting me to quoted price) During the procedure, equipment shortage became apparent as conversation between nurse and dentist indicated there was no clamp for the procedure. He struggled to access the molar and applied excessive force to keep my mouth open, stretching my jaw unnaturally. As he continued working, I felt something was seriously wrong--my jaw had locked. Jaw-locking is an extremely painful and distressing condition where the joint becomes stuck, preventing normal movement. It had only happened to me once before, during all 4 wisdom tooth extractions at once, many years ago, so I immediately recognized the severity of the situation. I gestured for the dentist to stop, but he was visibly frustrated and did not immediately understand the problem. I attempted to murmur an explanation, but due to the anesthesia and my locked jaw, I could barely communicate. When he finally removed the mouth block and realized what had happened, his first reaction was alarm--he said, "Oh no, no, that's not good." Instead of offering reassurance, he attempted to force my jaw back into place, which I knew could cause further harm. I stopped him as it could make worsen the situation. At this point, I was panicked, unable to move my jaw or speak clearly, while Dr. Cross repeatedly muttered about how bad the situation was. I suggested calling in another doctor, Dr. Wright, hoping for a better approach. When Dr. Wright entered the room, his immediate response was, "Oh no, that's a scary, scary situation." His words did nothing to calm me. After briefly assessing the issue, suggested I use a warm towel to relax the area and left the room. Sitting with a locked jaw and worsening anxiety, I did my best to stay calm and massage the area until Dr. Wright returned in several minutes to repositioned my jaw, successfully unlocking it. The relief was immense. The procedure had to be stopped due to the incident, and Dr. Cross placed a temporary filling to return following week to complete. Given what had happened, I requested Dr. Wright handle the remainder of the procedure instead. The next visit went more smoothly, but the temporary filling had set more firmly than expected, requiring more drilling. Despite completing the filling, my tooth pain persisted. Over the following weeks, biting and chewing remained painful, and temperature sensitivity worsened. A follow-up visit provided little clarity--Dr. Wright speculated about a potential cracked tooth without a thorough examination and suggested a nightguard for $500 to reduce teeth grinding. After multiple visits, $800 in expenses, and an unnecessary traumatic experience, my tooth remains painful, and I struggle to chew normally. Each follow-up felt rushed, with no genuine concern for patient care. The office's lack of empathy, poor handling of complications, and dismissive attitude toward my worsening condition left me significantly worse off than when I initially sought treatment. read more

Christine is great. Best dental hygienist I've ever had. I must have been to a dozen dental hygienists throughout my life and I never had anyone like Christine. She really does a thorough job inspecting and cleaning. She was the first one ever that checks my throat, inside my mouth, and my tongue. I offended wondered why she checking my tongue until my coworker had cancer under her tongue. Keep up the great work...see you at my next visit. read more

Was my first time visiting this dentist office since my insurance changed. It was super easy to find, and the staff were super friendly and in good spirits. Today I went in for an implant consultation. The entire process took 7 min and all I was told it that I need an implant and it's a year long process. No price estimate or anything else. No x-rays or 3d images were taken and I was also told by them they couldn't verify my insurance. read more

Kaimuki center for Dentistry has been my dentist for over 15 years- they are always friendly and efficient at what they do. The office manager Jerry is so nice and gives me an extra reminder because I have a crazy schedule. The ladies who clean my teeth are gentle and do there job fast! The Dentist has a very pleasant demeanor and makes me feel comfortable. If you're looking for a fancy shamncy dentist where your bill is higher to pay for the rent, you wouldn't like them. It's a clean , friendly office that feels like home. It's the best dentist office on the island as far as I'm concerned. Parking is easy , it's right above Longs. CLEAN office, friendly, professional staff... and Dr. Tom is a really, really good dentist! This is not "fast-food dentistry" (which, sadly, is what my old dentist office turned into). I always feel comfortable and well-taken-care-of, and I actually look forward to my cleanings. (Is that weird?) They are located on the third floor in the Kaimuki Shopping Center, above Longs, so parking is free and usually plentiful. A word of advice: if possible, try to not book your appointment at the same time that Sacred Hearts gets out... I think it's around 2:00. The parents all park in this lot while waiting, and it's ridiculously crowded. If you do have an appointment around that time, get there early to get a parking spot, then enjoy the AC at Longs or Taste Tea. read more

Excellent Emergency Dental Service Chipped my front bottom tooth on 9/27/2017 Wednesday yanking on a beef jerky trying to cut it into a smaller piece. Called Dr. Tom's office after hours and left a message and they made me an appointment when Dr. Philip Tom was scheduled to work 9/29/2017 at 1100 am. They sent me a notice via email on 9/28/2017 to verify the appointment. I showed family and friends my cracked front teeth before my appointment. On 9/29/2017 arrived at 1050 am for my 1100 am appointment and was immediately seated in the dental chair. 5 minutes later Dr. Tom showed up looked at my Cracked front teeth and said it can be fixed with a filling didn't need to be capped which I was worried it would need to be capped and expensive. After 15 to 20 minutes it was done and looked brand new like there was never a crack tooth there before. Showed to family and friends what the new cracked tooth repair looks like now they were very surprised they could not tell it was ever cracked before. Thank you Dr. Tom for the quick emergency fix (in and out in 20 minutes) and the excellent job (looks brand new). I will always recommend Dr. Tom and Office to Family and Friends. In fact I recommended my coworker Steve Uehara 15 years ago who lives in Mililani to see Dr. Tom in Kaimuki and he liked Dr. Tom so much he still drives from Mililiani to Kaimuki to see Dr. Philip Tom who also specializes in Teeth Implants. This is quite possibly the best dental company ever. And this is why... I made an appointment at Kaimuki Center of Dentistry today because I've been dealing with a major tooth issue. Basically I have a cavity in the worst possible place. I've been going to Ala Moana Dental Care for the last year but they refused to fill my cavity, stating that it wouldn't be a filling, but a root canal, and I'd have to pay in full upfront. Well I don't have dental insurance and they quoted me $2500 for a root canal and crown. I don't know about you, but I don't have that much money sitting around waiting to be used on dental care. They wouldn't even do a payment plan with me! So I took my X-rays and went elsewhere, hoping I'd find someone willing to work with me on a payment plan. I'd been to the Kaimuki dentist a couple years back when I was working in the same building, and I remembered how friendly they had been. So after making an appointment, I trotted off down the road to see if this dentist would work with me more. Upon arrival, the receptionist was super friendly and nice. She informed me I had a past due bill, but was really nice about it. They hadn't received my new address, so I never knew I had an outstanding bill due. I asked if I could pay it off in installments and she said yes. Now we were getting somewhere! Once in the exam room, the same dentist is seen in the past came in to take a look at my teeth. He reviewed the X-rays that I'd brought with me, and I explained my situation. He gave me a couple of names of places that take people with no dental insurance for future reference, and then sat down to look at my teeth. Not only did he say he could fill the cavity as a regular filling and not a root canal, but he even offered it at a smaller filling price, since he knew I was on disability and couldn't pay a lot. And during the procedure when he came across another cavity that was close to the tooth where I had a problem, he said he'd fill it and not charge me since he made the decision to do it after we had already started! $235 later, I left the dentist office with three fillings, the name of a dentist in town that I could work with later if the problem persisted, and a numb smile on my face. What incredible service and can-do attitude! Despite not having dental insurance currently, I will prob go back to this office because of their excellence! read more
