Dr. Jane Rosen led our groups this past year. Let me start by saying she knows everything about everything that happens to parents and babies during their first year! Her uplifting spirit gave our classes enthusiasm and her humor made us laugh even with the little sleep we were all getting during these challenging times. My husband, my baby and I attended each Saturday morning and we were eager to take our concerns to share with her and the other families and to find a supportive extended family to share with, and laugh and even cry with! Dr. Jane is undoubtably the best teacher and psychologist for this group. We wish she was teaching 1-2 year old groups so we can continue, but we will be calling and keeping in touch with her privately. She is SIMPLY AWESOME and we are so blessed to have had her support and love during our first baby's year and during our first year as parents!! Would have been lost without her. I've enjoyed my time at Wright both in person and on Zoom (given the unfortunate COVID circumstances). Caren is thoughtful, helpful and responsive to the moms' needs. I know this isn't an easy task since we haven't seen each other in person for a few months, so I appreciate it all the more. I read reviews for mom & me classes trying to figure out of the cost would be worth it, if it would be cheesy, if the advice would be modern, and if I would enjoy it. I went for it and joined a group via The Wright and I'm so glad I did; it was the best thing I did for myself postpartum. I thought the class had a nice blend of facilitating relationships between the moms and dispensing knowledge about a variety of baby topics. The nutrition advice was up to date with the latest research, there was a lack of judgement about personal choices, and it was really informative. Plus, the other moms were really cool and kind, and we all get together regularly outside the class. Hopefully this encourages another new mom to join! read more

I joined the Wright Mommy and Me class when my daughter was a little over 5 months old until she "graduated" at a year old. The first year of motherhood would have been so much more difficult if I had not joined the class. I met some amazing mommies that I still keep in touch with now and see in person for play dates. The classes were informative, and it was nice to speak with other mommies that were going through the exact same thing as I was. As a new mother, I was so delighted when a friend told me about Julie's class. It's hard to describe what it was like in words, but I truly don't know how I would have survived that first year without the guidance and support from the group. She truly cares about all the babies and is such a great listener and nurturer. Though there were some things I didn't do exactly as she encouraged (in the middle of the night I would let my son nurse until he fell asleep, which she didn't recommend), I am so grateful it all worked out. And my son began sleeping through the night at 4.5/5 months which was key for my sanity. SOOO glad I found this mommy & me group. I have made so many friends with parents that I can relate to and my daughter and i LOVE going to the classes. Dr. Jane Rosen led our group this past year and she is extremely knowledgeable and personable. I tried another parenting ground before finding the wright mommy and me and i couldn't relate to the parents and the teacher seemed way too "my way or the highway, you are wrong!". Jane gives advice and provides studies and direction but never tells a parent they are wrong for doing things a certain way. At the end of the day we all parent differently and so long as the child is safe, happy, and healthy no one should judge another parent. My group is supportive and reliable and I even feel comfortable reaching out to Jane or other parents in the group for advise, or even play dates! We don't all make every class, life happens! so Jane makes sure we are all provided with the class material before each class so even if you do miss a class you can read up about what was missed (and dont worry its never TOO much to read because life with a little one, lets be honest, none of us have time to sit and read a book anymore). The information every week was extremely useful and especially as my daughter got older she had a blast playing with the other kids and it was fun to see the same group of kids grow up together. Julie Wright and her Mommy and Me class was a formative experience for me - I am a better parent because of it. I joined her group when my (now five year old) son was four months old. I entered as an anxious new parent unsure of everything I was doing and without a mom friend I could call on - I was the first of my friends to have a baby. The class was an immediate relief and resource. Julie put us all at ease and helped us to connect. I made great friendships there, which turned into dinners and playdates. She helped us navigate nursing challenges, sleep issues, solid foods, developmental milestones, more sleep issues and more sleep issues. My son was a difficult sleeper, and Julie coached me through it during the class and in private sessions. I recently moved to the San Diego area and have been hunting for something similar to Julie's classes to attend with my six month old twin daughters. I was able to take Caren's class for 8 months. We started pre-covid and it was so great meeting other moms with babies the same age and getting information and advice from Caren. Once everything shut down Caren started doing our classes over zoom. It was so wonderful having a safe space to ask questions and get advice while still getting all the babies together. It was around the 2nd month of having given birth where I was going nuts about not knowing what I was doing as a first time mom and experiencing some mild postpartum depression. Once I met Jane and the other families my anxiety about being a mommy started to slowly go away. Jane was so comforting and answered all my questions, and I had many, and it was such a welcoming and warm environment. No judgements and a lot of validation! I moved here recently to settle down with my husband and we had a baby girl. It's challenging to be first time parents and it's even more challenging to start from a totally new place. I don't have much support from friends or families because it's a new place for me, so I felt lonely and isolated. When my baby was 4 months I started to search for classes like Mommy and Me, and I am so glad I found this Mommy and Me Group. It lights my life here! This a group class focused more on helping moms and guiding moms to raise their baby through the first year. Topics include balancing your life with baby, teething, solid food, sleep training, language development, preschool selection... etc. The class is super helpful and the instructors are very caring and supportive. It made me feel relaxed and more confident. More important is you get the chance to meet other moms and you know you are not alone! I do believe those friendships will last for a life time! BTW, my class is in Sherman Oaks location, and instructor Julia Kantor is awesome!! There are some highlights for the class: 1) the scale and size of the class. Usually it around 7-15 pairs of mom and baby, which means the class is still very active but you won't feel too crowded. 2) the baby's age difference is a maximum of 2-3 months, which keeps all the moms focused on the same topics. 3)This group is focused more on what mom's needs are rather than having all the attention on the babies while they play - which is different from every other class. I really appreciate that aspect of the class. read more

I've been doing the Wright Mommy and Me classes since my daughter was about 4 months old (pre-COVID) and she's 11 months right now (post-COVID). Even though our group is no longer able to get together in person, I still find tremendous benefit in the classes. The content is solid and the course leaders are really great and responsive to our needs during these strange times. Honestly, there are some benefits with the virtual classes. I can still attend even when my daughter is napping (previously I would have to wake her up to drive to the class or show up late), easily feed her from her high chair, and even fold one of the many loads of baby laundry she generates. It's just great to be in regular contact with moms who know exactly what you're going through because they're going through the same thing. read more

One of the best parenting decisions I made is to join the Wright Mommy and Me group. This group has the perfect mix of entertainment for the babies and focus on real life issues for parents. Each weeks discussion topic was relevant and plenty of time was allotted for moms to bring in their own questions and concerns about whatever is going on with their child at the time. Never any "mom-shaming" or teaching only one way of parenting or doing things. The moms in the group were amazing and we still keep in touch after our Mommy and Me Graduation. There's a really steep learning curve when you become a new mom, but The Wright Mommy and Me classes made the transition so much easier. I truly feel so fortunate to have found this Mommy and Me group and would give it 10 stars if I could. Julie Wright is an expert on child development and, as someone with a graduate degree in social developmental psychology, I was so impressed with her balanced, warm, and developmentally-appropriate approach to all things child care. In particular, Julie literally wrote the book on baby sleep ("The Happy Sleeper"). Having her expert advice when you're sleep deprived is a godsend. Aside from the moms' returning to work, my group stayed together from the time our babies were four months old until they were toddlers. I was the first of my friends to have a baby, so making mom friends who helped each other through the ups and downs of hormones, breastfeeding issues, and sleepless nights was invaluable. The leaders create an environment where the moms feel supported and the babies have fun; my daughter would get so excited every time we went to class. This class has been my savior as a first time mom. We live in age where there's almost "too much information" out there for parents and caretakers. I personally was getting overwhelmed with conflicting information on anything raging from whether to give your child vitamin supplements , how much tummy time each day to give him and best approaches to sleep training. In the end this class has become my ONE go to advice place and I have just stopped reading books and internet articles. Before every class our teacher sends us hand outs on the weeks topics via email and all of the information we have received has been incredibly helpful. I myself go to the Bini Birth Center in Sherman Oaks, and our teacher Lindsay is such a delight. We start of each class by singing and I have learned songs that already have become my 7 month old son's daily favorites. All my knowledge about sleep training (another area I was struggling with figuring out what approach to take) has come from Julie Wright's insightful articles shared in these mommy & me classes. Julie's balanced approach for sleep training in her book "the happy sleeper" has provided for a healthy happy medium between " attachment parenting and the more harsh CIO sleep training methods. Teaching us about the soothing ladder and sleep wave for example have become so key to my understanding of babies' sleep needs that I have been sharing her techniques with my friends in Greece, who have babies but aren't so lucky to have " mommy and me classes' in their cities. Julie, if you are reading this, there's a hole in the market for you in Greece ;- ) I love that each week us mommies have this special time to " check in with each other" and that there's always an opportunity to ask questions on any topic that comes mind. I am a worrier at heart and I always leave this class feeling more re-assured that I AM doing a good job. The best part is of this class is the wonderful network of friends I have made since starting last October. I will be signing up for my 4th semester in a few weeks and feel so incredibly lucky to have met this great support group of fellow mommies who I hope will remain my friends for life. Lindsay Anderson has been such an amazing support and is effortless in creating a warm, calm and accepting atmosphere. She brings her natural insight and wisdom and an incredible amount of knowledge to each meeting. Before you go signing up for this or any other mommy and me, think twice, and make sure it's what you want. I did this one and it was a big regret. (This is my husband's yelp account.) This mommy and me is great for meeting people, but so is Peachhead. If you want more out of it then you are kidding yourself. The other plus is your baby gets to spend time with other babies. Otherwise the curriculum is old and tired. The Internet and two friends can give you 10 times more info, and more accurate info at that! This company can't seem to find a place to host their classes. They've moved locations more than a few times over the years. I did the classes in Santa Monica. I got sucked in by the reviews and that was a mistake. If you do not have access to the Internet (circa 1995) and want a solution, then this is for you. 2 stars because they aren't causing trouble, just wasting people's time and money...
