My husband and I came in for Tuesday Happy Hour. This place is super small, but they have a decent beer selection and like 7 TVs for sports. I'm reviewing in the winter, so I didn't see what their outdoor seating set up looks like. They had a few drink specials like a sale on well liquors and $4 glasses of wine. They also offered 1/2 price on nachos, pretzel bites and Mac n cheese balls. We got the nachos and boom boom shrimp. The nachos are huge and super messy, but delicious. The shrimp was good, but nothing to go crazy over. Definitely get a lot of bang for your buck. We'll be back to try more food! read more

Ambiance: Let me start out by saying, the inside is even better than the pictures. The renovation done on this place is definitely impressive. It's got a clean and modern feel. That arctic white subway tile on the bar is gorgeous especially with the blue neon downlighting. The silver painted antique silver ceiling is drool worthy. Oh, and the floor tiles in the bathroom, Pinterest Quueeeen status! Oh and did you know it's called The Yard because they do, in fact, have an unreal Yard in the back!? Tony showed us the space and told us about his fire pit, outdoor bar, corn hole of your dreams ideas! Boy, I know we just entered fall but can someone bring Spring ASAP!? Food: We started with the shrimp toast appetizer. It was delicious!! A bit pricey for bar app and 5 shrimp but worth it! Yum yum Second up, the fried chicken sandwich and the beet salad. Both very good. The grilled chicken in the salad was moist and flavorful. Thank God. Nothing worse than sad dried out chicken in your salad. Drinks: James has a hell of a Guinness pour! The absolute and soda was nicely made as well. The prices are a little steeper than I'd hope for but pretty typical of the area. I'm hopeful they'll kick some weekly drink specials into gear soon! Service: Now here's something I can always get down with, a group of individuals who are happy to be there!! Tony James and Jeff were all super down to earth and a pleasure to speak with. I had never been to Haledon before, but when my girl booked a TV series shooting in nearby Verona, I Yelped local places for a top notch burger and The Yard glowed bright with its hefty 4.5 star average. I can see why people dig this place: It's divey but not dirty; the staff and patrons are super friendly; the owner Tony is on site and genuinely cares about your dining experience. We went with the aforementioned burgers -- and I'm happy to report their quality matches up with the reviews. The "burger" is actually two juicy burgers packed together on a bun and mine was loaded with cheese and crispy bacon. The extra pickles on the side were so good, we had to keep them coming. Some restaurant owners act like a five star review is harder than getting a 10.0 in Olympic gymnastics but that's absurd! Interior looks great newly renovated inside, even the bathrooms look nicer than all the other bars in town. When it comes to service everyone is very friendly they introduced themselves personally and took care of us. As for the menu it is very different, you would be surprised to what you would see on there compared to the local bar menus. I wanted to play it safe and got a burger, the bartender recommended the Texan burger and it was awesome, no regrets getting that. Fries included with the burger and I was given a good portion size and they were great. My fiancé ordered wings (Thai chili flavor) he was satisfied with the taste. Food is good for bar food. Great drinks especially their Bloody Mary! Service is hit or miss depending on how busy they are... weekends are tough. Music is usually a bit on the loud side but it's a great place to socialize and grab a cocktail or beer. read more

The menu also looked amazing and I was in the mood for wings I split some Old Bay, Roasted Garlic and Buffalo with some friends. Unfortunately, they were nothing special. Wanted some food late at night this past Friday and this place was open. It was pretty crowded, but I can't complain. There was seating inside, and the staff was very attentive and kind. Got an espresso martini and it was pretty good! Asked for food recommendations and ordered based off that. The wings were top tier get mango habanero. The prime rib sandwich was mid but I'm not mad. And the surf and turf tacos were really flavorful, especially the sauce they used. Def liked this place and would go back if I lived closer read more

This was my first visit to The Yard. It was a Friday at 12:30pm. I took a seat and ordered a Yard Burger. They also have a daily specials menu that may include a pasta dish. I was admittedly disappointed when the burger arrived. It was so puny in size. I hate writing this review because the owner was so nice and concerned for my well being. Although the burger had small dimensions, it was, at least, thick. Think of it more of a meatball shape rather than a flat patty. Bacon Mac and cheese needed a little bit more bacon or some flavor, they should pair it with their yard sauce which was a tasty tomato based sauce instead of the cheese sauce it comes with, in my opinion lol. I visited The Yard on November 3, 2023 it was during Happy Hour. I asked the waiter was a Mojito apart of the Happy hour menu he said it was, so I ordered. My friend ordered the same drink, as well. When we received the drink , it look good, mint was there but it was not good at all! I returned the drink, the waiter ask what does it need well being I'm not a mixologist, I went on my phone to look up the ingredients. The ingredients shown mentioned sugar, which I suggested might help, but in all honesty, the Bartender was clueless and being that we were sitting next to ppl that we were talking to also knew what a mojito was I literally ask one of them to taste what was given to me they also said it was awful. The bartender was quite Arrogant, and was not interested in customer service at all, he had the nerve to say, if you don't like it leave! I had no problem accommodating his outburst! I certainly let him know I had no problem leaving! A female manager came over to my friend and I quite apologetic, stating she was a manager and that she would spk to him! Make no mistakes I'm not a rowdy individual but I am an assertive wmn who knows what I want and like. The drink was horrible period! Nothing was offered to replaced the drink. I've been visiting this establishment since it's inception, for the most part, the waiters are friendly the food is good however this particular bartender Is awfully, rude, with a chip on his shoulder that's larger than his pea size brain! Lucky us! Just saw the waterfalls in town and all were hungry...quick search brought us here, the reviews didn't lie...great food! Lots of TV's on above the bar, plenty of tables and some outside (it was raining so we opted to stay indoors haha). Had the pesto chicken sandwich w/o the bun and a side salad, top notch! Others had Yard burger, salad, and Philly cheesesteak w/sweet potato fries, done just right. New place my first time there. Amazing food! Wings are top notch, fresh, multiple sauces to choose from, pretzel bites very buttery and a cheddar sauce served hot, absolutely delish. Burgers were perfect, and my brisket sandwich was unbelievable. The people there were extremely accommodating and friendly. Very clean restaurant and bathrooms. We will be back for sure!!! I was not very happy with my experience at The Yard. I ordered a Seltzer off the menu that the waitress came back and said was unavailable. I asked to look at the drink menu again and she told me the Margaritas were $7 for Happy Hour. I proceeded to order the Spicy Pineapple Cilantro Margarita. When I got the bill, I wanted to know why I was charged $15 for it. The waitress then said that margarita was not included in the happy hour price. This is just bad business. If a customer responds directly to a recommendation from waitstaff, it should have been mentioned right away it was not included in the $7 choices. $15 for this margarita was absolutely not worth it. The glass did not come with a salt rim and it was not spicy as advertised. As far as food goes .. the quesadillas were good but the nachos were just ok. There was so much pico de gallo but very limited on the other toppings included the meat which is an extra charge. The bill for this meal was way more that it should have been. Waitstaff overall was not good. Will not be returning. read more

Great food and drink! Just came here with my daughter and a few friends. As a group we had tacos, a Korean bulgogi sandwich, mussles and a bunch of other awesome dishes. Everything was delicious and the beer on tap was also great. They have more than a dozen interesting tap beers which are very reasonably priced. Met one of the owners, a super nice guy named Tony, and he was really fun to talk to. I highly recommend The Yard! Fun, laid back, with fantastic food and drink!! read more
