The recommendation of a friend, and the 4 star positive rating was the draw to The Yellow Bee. A bright, clean locally owned diner, very friendly service, and a steady stream of customers on this July 4th Eve. I blame the slow food arrival on the heavy take out and delivery orders, which might be a problem if you dine here on your lunch break. My friend recommended the Shrimp and grits as delicious! When I inquired as to who their shrimp supplier was the waitress informed me "they came in on a truck from Atlanta". Not serving Georgia shrimp in this coastal Georgia county? No thank you to the farm raised shrimp, and minus a star for not buying local. I settled on the Bee Bacon Cheese burger. It arrived missing the bacon, with a sad looking slice of tomato, the hamburger patty appearing pre-patted frozen, as well as the typical frozen crinkle fries. Frankly, the hamburger reminded me of and tasted like the school cafeteria variety. The seasoning on the crinkle fries was a sad attempt to elevate their frozen status. And, it's summertime and tomato season. Why bother serving a hamburger with an underripe tomato? Lastly, there's no excuse for a local business to not support the local, nearby shrimping industry. Buy local and serve Georgia shrimp. read more

We were greeted upon entry and advised that it was some booths in the back. When we sat down we were given Menus, introduced to our server Donna and ordered our drinks. We looked over the menu , our drinks arrived and Ms. Donna was ready to take out orders. Two of us ordered The NY Style Cheesecake Waffle w/Chicken 2 Shrimp and Grits and one Signature Chicken and Waffles . We were told that they were out of Fried Green Tomatoes and Fried Pickles but Ms.Donna double checked and we received a fresh order. Everyone seemingly enjoyed their meals. I enjoyed both waffle most. Great texture and flavor!The chicken was hit, fresh and crispy but if you're don't like heavy batter you won't like it... This place is hopping! The parking lot didn't look that full, but each one of those minivans must have held a family of 5 (minimum)! Add to that the doordash orders sitting ready for pick-up. This could only be good signs. It was just me (I'm traveling solo for work) and original thought I'd sit at the counter, but since COVID they can't have people there so they quickly cleared a table for me and seated me. I barely waited 5mins! They also took my drink order as I was sitting so by the time I took hold of the menu I had a water on the table. I tell you, they are speedy. And food comes out of the kitchen nearly constantly so the cooks are WORKING. I ordered the NY Cheesecake Chicken 'N' Waffles. I had also asked about the fried green tomatoes, but they were out already. My guess is that the tomato season is coming to an end and supply is short. Plus it was probably divine intervention since the Chicken 'N' Waffles could have feed 2-3 people! The food was delicious. Freshly fried chicken that could make you drool and the perfect waffle was sweet and bouncy. Very good. And as you can see from the pictures, I definitely had enough for a 2nd breakfast the next day. The first time I went it was great! It has since gone way way down hill. The staff is completely overwhelmed, the day I was there there was dirty dishes all over the counter/bar area. Like they weren't bussing the tables or doing the dishes, they were just taking all the tables plates and stacking them up on the counter till they could finally catch a break. They were inundated with Togo/ubereats/doordash orders. There was no cooks, just the two waitresses and they were having such a hard time, I wanted to jump in and help them. Luckily we were the only sit down customers, because I can't imagine how stressed they'd be if the place was packed. My husband got chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted cooked then recooked, and it was battered so thick and it was very greasy. I had a waffle, it was ok.. a bit too soft for my liking but that's totally fine. We paid and tipped as if we had a great experience because 100% it didn't feel like the waitresses faults, they were doing their best. With that being said, I would not ever be back. I hope the owners do the right thing and help their staff out, it was really not cool to watch these women be so in the weeds and have absolutely no help. read more

Nice place to get breakfast/brunch. I did not expect the wings to be so big. They were very fresh and hot. I got the red velvet waffle and husband had the cheesecake waffle. Both were good but I prefer what I ordered. His waffle would have been better with fresh strawberries. Eggs and grits were good (not overcooked or dry). We also got the mimosas (small size). I got peach and husband had watermelon. We ended up switching the drinks (his watermelon had more champagne flavor). Inside is pretty small but you can order to go as well. Okay first off , we came in on a Sunday. We expected it to be busy. But the wait time while sitting was ridiculous. My children didn't get any of the drinks to right before the food came out. (18 min) We orders the "Betty" mimosa ... taste like light wine. Could of been some stronger wine but not worth complaining about. The watermelon flavor has a light flavor to it. Our server didn't notice my food didn't come out of the kitchen with the rest of my families food. Had I not said anything my food probably wouldn't of been made at all. Until I brought it, the waitress was oblivious to the whole thing. "We apologize for the inconvenience but we'll have that right out". It was way to much going on but it wasn't that busy to where you're just letting careless things happen. Attention to detail goes a long way! Rule of thumb in customer service is ALWAYS check on the food and check on the customer . Eggs VERY runny , when supposed to be scrambled. Then when we had them re do them, they just fried it hard ... fried hard and scrambled hard are two different things. A cook should understand that. Both waffles were cold by the time they gave it to us. The fish and grits were good... didn't care for the raw onions garnished around it. I ordered to go about 6 months ago and was disappointed but decided to try them dine in and see how that experience would be. TERRIBLE! I tried to support this business but it's a no for me. Waffle House is trash but I'd chose them over this restaurant in a heartbeat. Maybe during the week it would be okay but definitely not during the week. This quaint little breakfast joint is homely. I ordered the fish and grits and less than 10 mins it was served to me hot and ready. The fish was in a bed of gravy and Grits. It was crispy, then creamy how it was supposed to be. I had the lemonade to drink and like always it was bittersweet goodness. Came here for Sunday breakfast with my husband. We pass this place everyday when going to work and decided to give it a try. The food surprised both my husband and I. The fried chicken was hot, fresh, crispy and flavorful. I will definitely get the fried chicken when coming again. The food was made to order, which I appreciate and makes the world of difference. I had the red velvet waffle and my husband had the Bee Original waffle, which has bacon inside and on top. We both enjoyed our waffles. We were sold with bottomless mimosas. However, they are not listed anywhere on the menu. I started with both a regular and watermelon mimosa. For food I ordered the chicken and waffle with blueberry waffle. Once the food came out the chicken is chicken wings.... which was unexpected. The chicken itself had great flavor. I always ride passed here so today my husband and I decided to go get for breakfast. They are a little unorganized so it's best to have a little patience. The older woman that was our waiter was forgetful she was forgetting who was asking for what. To me it wasn't busy it was about 5 tables of two ppl each but I guess that was busy for them. My soldiers and I did some recon of the area because the DFAC was closed and we stumbled upon this place. It's really a quaint little breakfast spot with amazing staff. They made sure our coffee stayed full, they were very knowledgeable of the menu and overall friendly. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and salmon croquettes and grits. Our daughter lives in Hinesville and said we should try Yellow Bee so of course, we did. I gotta say the food was great (chicken and waffles in the first visit, the burger and fries in our 2nd visit)... The ladies waiting on you are incredibly friendly and accommodating. You can't even try it when it hits the table, needs a few minutes to cool. The waffle was good, I've had better, I've had worse, but still went very well with the chicken. The decorum needed a little updating but the customer service made up for it. The food was amazing ...I had the shrimp and grits (who seasoned that gravy?!?!? Bertha???)
