Dr. Pavlich ordered an echocardiogram for my dog and I was called with the results by some unknown person who recommended a medication but didn't know how the medication worked. I called and asked to speak with the ordering vet to discuss the echocardiogram because, as a physician, I had many questions before starting my pet on a medication about which my basic questions could not be answered. I was called back the next day by a person named Dallas who acted as though my request was a great imposition and that a vet might be willing to speak with me. Dallas emailed me the next day to inform me that another unknown vet was willing to talk with me by phone, but it would be an additional fee to discuss the results of the already expensive echocardiogram that was ordered by Dr. Pavlich. I called the clinic and spoke again with Dallas. When I expressed that I was unhappy that I was being charged an additional fee to discuss the test results he actually hung up the phone on me. If I treated my patients like this I would not only be out of business, but would be reported to the medical board. Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior. Needless to say, we will be finding veterinary care from a vet that actually cares. My recommendation is to stay as far away from this clinic as possible.

I knew she could benefit from a massage, and I wanted to support her comfort as best I could while we're here in Oregon. That's how I found Very Important Pooch and reached out to Lela. Oregon law requires a veterinary referral before a practitioner can legally provide massage therapy for dogs. As someone just visiting--and from Texas, which has nearly identical restrictions--I know firsthand the time and cost realities of that barrier. Coordinating with my vet back home would mean multiple appointments at $$$ each, paperwork, delays, and a series of uneducated questions about a modality I'm not credentialed in--because the barrier places the authority to "approve" massage in the hands of someone who, based on vet school curriculum analysis, is among the least qualified to assess it. And of course, I'm not certified either--and I don't believe Lela should be required to donate free hours just to convince someone who is supposed to be an expert in my dog's health but lacks even the basic hours of education in this field. Lela is already highly trained and certified to do what I believe in--and what I'd argue most of us already know is foundationally sound care. Veterinary programs I've researched devote a tiny fraction of their total hours to massage, chiropractic care, or even nutrition--often just 1-2 credits in a 4,000+ hour curriculum. That's less than 0.1% of their training. Yet those graduates become the legal gatekeepers to my pup's health and comfort. So instead of pushing up against that mismatch, I asked Lela if she could teach me directly. She met that request with professionalism and warmth. We scheduled an appointment, and I found myself becoming vigilant in watching my pup--so I could begin learning. She helped me start the session by focusing and centering, and it only got better from there. She used my own arm to demonstrate how much pressure to apply--something I never could've learned through a screen. I felt grounded in the learning and empowered to work with my dog. I bounced all over the place with questions, and she supported my learning style with grace. And it worked! My pup visibly softened under my hands, and this morning, she genuinely seems looser, more comfortable, and has more pep in her step. I've already booked another session for next week. Instead, he was given the Leptospirosis vaccine, which is clearly flagged in his medical record as something he should never receive due to a prior severe allergic reaction. This was not a small oversight or a misunderstanding -- it was a serious mistake that could have had devastating consequences. They administered the vaccine and only informed me afterward. I was completely shocked and heartbroken that such a critical detail in his medical history was ignored. The veterinarian's response was disappointing, repeatedly referring to this as "an accident." I live with anxiety and PTSD, and this entire situation was extremely triggering as I tried to stay calm and advocate for my dog in the middle of what felt like a preventable emergency. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Oregon Veterinary Medical Board because this kind of mistake should never happen. Our pets rely on us to keep them safe, and I trusted this team to do that. I'm sharing this to help other pet parents make informed decisions. We also need a Vet who knows the difference between personal pet medicine and rescue/shelter medicine which they both do. They both have amazing bedside manner, are dedicated, compassionate and just overall rock stars. Their staff is also amazing and filled with caring people. For the last year or so our rescue as struggled to find a clinic/hospital that we could take our rescue animals to. I am picky and I know it but when cats come in to my rescue I want them to have the best of the best. We have tried several clinics and while a few were ok I had not found a solid primary day time vet. WELP that changed the minute I heard Guardian was opening. Both Dr. worked on a head trauma cat in our rescue during their time at Tanasbourne ER and let me just say they both impressed me very much. Since their clinic has opened I am fairly certain I have had appointments pretty close to daily. Personal and Rescue related. Everyone was treated with the utmost care. In my opinion Guardian is the best option for vet care in the area hands down.
