In mid April my chihuahua started limping on her right hind leg. After seeing her Veterinarian I learned she had a Torn Cruciate and a Luxating Patella. After seeing a Surgeon to discuss surgery possibilities the surgeon highly recommended putting my dog in a Rehab program which I did. By early May she had begun her rehab journey at The Healing Arts Animal Care. Long story short, I can not say enough wonderful things about the care and treatment my dog received while under their care. They even helped my dog with a weight loss program by recommending an appropriate food and an appropriate quantity to give her. I also received a daily regimen of exercises to help her gain strength in her legs. Today my dog no longer limps on her right hind leg and I owe all of this to the care she received while attending the Rehab sessions at the Healing Arts Animal Care and their wonderful team.

Dr. Mandi and her team are absolute miracle workers! My senior German Shepherd had a pretty intense spinal surgery and we have been working with Healing Arts twice a week since. He gets extremely excited to go inside and he's been making huge improvements since we started here. I highly recommend Healing Arts!

Our puppy Maggie was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at less than 6 months old. After a surgical consult, they recommended physical therapy in an attempt to delay (or avoid) surgery. We chose Healing Arts Animal Care and it has been an awesome experience for us. The care was holistic - appointments with joint manipulation, physical therapy exercises, laser therapy and underwater treadmill. Exercises to take home along with instructions (many with videos) and check ins to make sure we were doing ok. They recommended medication / supplement options and they also check in with our vet regularly. Maggie is SO MUCH stronger and she is no longer lame / in pain. With continued routine exercises at home and the occasional underwater treadmill session we have delayed surgery (so far). Our experience was only during COVID-19 times and their safety protocols are excellent.

Our dog Monty was referred to Healing Arts after an FHO surgery. The hospital that did the surgery recommended that we call as soon as possible to set up consultations with numerous physical therapists since oftentimes there's a wait to get started. When we called Healing Arts to set up the consultation we were greeted and walked through the process very patiently and with so much kindness that we immediately set our sights on driving out of our way to make sure our pup got the best care as he recovered. We are so glad we went with the Healing Arts team - Monty received dedicated care and his sister Pepper got to tag along and get treats too! The entire team was so sweet and really helped Monty get back on track after a pretty traumatic dog attack and resulting surgery. They have a great water treadmill that he used at every visit, and they also made sure we were sent home with good practices to make sure his leg stayed limber and gained strength. After "graduating" from the PT program, Monty is doing so great! We were really worried that he wouldn't gain flexion and stability in his leg especially since he's 11 years old, but he's healed so well and we are so thankful he's had the care of a thoughtful and invested team of people along the way.

Anti-vomiting pills and Prednisone did nothing to stop her vomiting. A friend recommended Rosemary and after listening to my story, she told me that she could help Patrea. And me. That was 2 weeks ago. She had me give Patrea mineral drops and spray. Almost immediately, Patrea began responding to the treatment. She has had episodes of vomiting, but no where near like she had been. This past week Rosemary had me begin using Copaiba Essential Oil with her meals. We have had several nights of no vomiting. After a cross-country drive from Texas to Oregon, I knew my dog had to be feeling stiff and…read morecramped--she had just spent a week curled up in the front seat without room to stretch, aside from short breaks and hotel stays. I knew she could benefit from a massage, and I wanted to support her comfort as best I could while we're here in Oregon. That's how I found Very Important Pooch and reached out to Lela. Oregon law requires a veterinary referral before a practitioner can legally provide massage therapy for dogs. As someone just visiting--and from Texas, which has nearly identical restrictions--I know firsthand the time and cost realities of that barrier. Coordinating with my vet back home would mean multiple appointments at $$$ each, paperwork, delays, and a series of uneducated questions about a modality I'm not credentialed in--because the barrier places the authority to "approve" massage in the hands of someone who, based on vet school curriculum analysis, is among the least qualified to assess it. And of course, I'm not certified either--and I don't believe Lela should be required to donate free hours just to convince someone who is supposed to be an expert in my dog's health but lacks even the basic hours of education in this field. Lela is already highly trained and certified to do what I believe in--and what I'd argue most of us already know is foundationally sound care. Veterinary programs I've researched devote a tiny fraction of their total hours to massage, chiropractic care, or even nutrition--often just 1-2 credits in a 4,000+ hour curriculum. That's less than 0.1% of their training. Yet those graduates become the legal gatekeepers to my pup's health and comfort. So instead of pushing up against that mismatch, I asked Lela if she could teach me directly. She met that request with professionalism and warmth. We scheduled an appointment, and I found myself becoming vigilant in watching my pup--so I could begin learning. She helped me start the session by focusing and centering, and it only got better from there. She used my own arm to demonstrate how much pressure to apply--something I never could've learned through a screen. I felt grounded in the learning and empowered to work with my dog. I bounced all over the place with questions, and she supported my learning style with grace. And it worked! My pup visibly softened under my hands, and this morning, she genuinely seems looser, more comfortable, and has more pep in her step. I've already booked another session for next week. Whether you're a local pursuing a vet referral or a visitor wanting to learn, I highly recommend working with Lela. She honors the law without compromising education--and she empowered me in the process. Oh, and tell her Paws and J sent you :-)
