Read my original review -- I still stand behind that with NO changes. I did in-fact revisit this place. Again, same as I previously wrote. But, the food was pretty good (standard) and the price was right. Look, it's simple food, I mean real simple (the potatoes that come with eggs are just potatoes, no onion, no peppers, plain cut potatoes) -- that's the best way to describe it. The price was inexpensive and the coffee was status-quo which was better than I remembered when last visiting. The little side of strawberry jelly they bring with your toast is a definitely a NICE touch. Seriously enjoyed that! read more

This place has a super interesting menu. The food is OK. Nothing really wowed us. We were party of four and were there on a Wednesday late morning. There was only one waitress serving everybody in the place. It was weird because she had like AirPods or earphones in her ears or something and kept disappearing. There's plenty of seating inside and out. It could be decorated nicer. There's just something about this place that just does reach its full potential. we ordered an omelette, eggs, Benedict, and two items from the Daily special menu. Shrimp Tostones. plate and a Spanish plate. With the eggs Benedict, one of the poached eggs were too well done and stainless muffins weren't crispy enough to hold it all. read more

Nestled in downtown New Milford, Johana's has expanded from a little restaurant to a medium-sized restaurant -- and the COVID-era outdoor seating is here to stay for good, it seems. Thankfully, the service and food haven't suffered as they've grown. They're only open for breakfast and lunch, so they only get two chances to earn your money. I've only been for breakfast, and it's worth it! I had the scotch eggs, and while I wouldn't order that special again, that's my own personal tastes. I will say they were delicious, cooked perfectly, and I'm glad I tried them. My girlfriend had an omelet with no shortage of fillings. The giant pile of home fries on the side also helped. The coffee is refilled constantly until you tell them to stop. read more

Here's the pandemic / post-pandemic review. The food is still just fine in our view, made with shortcuts that aren't unusual for diners everywhere (e.g. bouillon powder in soup, a reliance on frozen veggies and frozen sausage patties, etc...) But we've really come to love this place for the consistently pleasant wait staff, fair pricing, and dog-friendly outdoor seating (frankly, a game changer for us). Johana's dog friendliness is why we know we'll be frequent return visitors. In NYC, we can safely assume that restaurants with outdoor seating allow dogs. In New Milford, it seems that a number do not (e.g. the Abbey, La Piccolina). The fact that Johana's welcomes our entire family wins our loyalty **for life**. At a recent meal, they even brought out a metal water bowl out for our pup. Love. And for the past year or two, there have been some delicious-sounding Latin / South American dishes on the menu, which we'd like to try more extensively before we review. Wait times can be very long, so bring a healthy dose of patience. For my family, at least, when all our kids are with us there's little need to rush. read more

First prices online different than what I was charged. When I brought this up waitress kept telling me not her job. Not, I'll let them know, or sorry prices going up faster than we can update, just not my job. Then I got the soggiest worst onion rings in my life, like they didn't know how to make them. Basicly onions thrown into oil with no battery or breading. My turkey club came dry without any mayo, and bacon on turkey side instead of with lettuce and tomato like BLT... They need to get a chef that knows how these American foods are made, and update prices, of they want return business. I used to love this place now, I don't know if I'll be back. read more

Quaint diner type restaurant in downtown New Milford. Menu isn't huge but has classic options and some good specials. Prices are very reasonable. I had a spicy chicken skillet special, which was very tasty. Service was a bit slow, particularly towards the end of our meal, but everyone was friendly. My black bean quesadilla was delicious and my wife's eggs with salmon skillet was delicious. The variety of the menu is impressive, many dishes I haven't seen around here. We arrived and we're asked if we wanted to eat inside or outside. We decided on inside. The first thing I noticed going in was how dirty the doors and windows were. It looked like they hadn't been washed in awhile. Then when we walked in, I was hit with a strong scent of cleaner like Fabuloso or something. Definitely not what you want to smell while you're eating, especially if you're sensitive to smells. The place was a bit run down. Not very comfortable feeling. The music was too load and obnoxious. We sat for a few minutes, but the strong chemical cleaning smell mixed with the music was too much for me, so we moved our stuff to outside. Food came out and it was decent. All three of us got pancakes, but were only given 2 little metal saucers with syrup for all of us, and not till a few minutes after we got our food. We waited for awhile to ask him for more syrup, since we ran out, but I finally had to track him down, because he never came to check on us. He came with syrup and I asked if he would bring out our bill soon. We waited a bit and he never came, so I just went in and paid. He never came once to ask how everything's was. My water cup was dirty and there was hair in my son's eggs. The butter comes out cold and solid, so it's impossible to spread. Food was okay, which was the only reason I gave 3 stars. read more

Last day before work gets crazy for me. Decided to stay local and go to Johana's. They have expanded the inside to fit more people. They have the outside patio that would be nice when the weather warms up. Plenty of free parking, located on the New Milford Green. Even on a Sunday there was no wait. It was crowded but there was still seating. The staff was all polite and attentive. Great menu choices at a good price. I got the Torta de Huevo. Everything I love in an omelette, including a little spicy sausage. Deliciously seasoned home fries. I sampled a little of my fiancé's blueberry pancakes. I'm not a huge fan of blueberries, but these pancakes were made from scratch with fresh ingredients. A definite winner. Another bonus is how you pay. There is a QR code right on the receipt. No need to wait for the waitress to come back. You pay right at the table, leave a generous tip, and walk out. Definitely give Joanna's a try if you have not been there. read more

Visited this place a couple weeks ago after reading an apparently misleading article in the local newspaper. Very disappointed. When you 1st walk in, the set up is awkward and leaves you wondering if you should sit or wait to be seated, this all while customers gawk at you in your confused state. The service was atrocious. I was asked for my order before ever being given a menu. Water was only filled once. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time however. The food itself was weird...weird and gross. The omelette was a pill of mush. The peppers were soggy and didnt appear to be fresh at all. The bacon had a coffee flavor to it. Not sure why, I didnt order a coffee, maybe its cooked close to the percolator? The cheese was some cheap stringy crap. Of course when it was time to go, my waitress had left for the day. Her replacement waited for me to beg for the check. Lousy experience here. Get it together folks. I always give second chances, so i will be back. read more

Fairly typical diner food in a very comfortable setting. They expanded since the last time we were here so less of a wait time. My wife and I ordered the big breakfast special which comes with French toast, two eggs and chicken sausage. They were good but was a little disappointed that they don't use maple syrup. They were crazy busy, yet they let my party remain seated and relaxed until the rest of us arrived -- almost a half-hour after. :( They handled the issue with ease and grace and treated us so well, despite the unfortunate timing on my part!! They never made us feel rushed, and on top of the impeccable and kind service, the food was outstanding. I've never had a fluffier, tastier pancake. Great place for breakfast right on across from the green. It is very casual and features local artists on the wall. You get service with a smile. You can get the standard breakfast food and they also have delicious choices with a latin flare. I recommend you try one of those selections. Wow, what a disappointment. Went here with a buddy this morning. The place was about 30% full. Three or four waiters/waitresses and they ALL waited on me! Apparently they have no system to keep this from happening. VERY annoying! My breakfast was OK but nothing special. I ordered eggs with home fries, rye bread toast burned, with no butter. It came as wheat bread, slightly brown, buttered. I had to send it back. By the time my toast was replaced my three fried eggs were cold. Food thrown on the plate, no garnish, very boring! The restaurant was filled when we walked in but had an immediate table next to window and was taken care of by a very friendly waitress who topped off our coffee's several times with a smile. Our omelettes were cooked perfect and the menu seemed to be very inexpensive and has a good selection of bread and lunch items. Bad service: I asked for more butter and they gave me MELTED BUTTER! When they brought the first thing of butter ONE WAS ALREADY OPENED AND USED! The umbrellas at the tables dont even give me any shade . The pancakes were disgusting they were all mushy and soggy. However the chocolate milk and water was good. But when they gave me chocolate milk and a water the didnt even asked if i wanted a straw! They left the spoon in with the chocolate milk also!!!! I was just there. The skillet was ok but the pancakes and the waffle...my kids wouldn't eat it. I tasted them...they were not good at all. My breakfast never came. I would've told someone but they never came back to check on us. Maybe we could've ordered something else to make up for it but when the waiter finally did come back I asked him about my food. I told him I didn't want it anymore because everyone was finished. He said ok and brought the check!! Didn't apologize or offer to make anything right... I pretty much just paid 40 dollars for one skillet breakfast! It was the only edible food on the table...this could've easily been corrected but they didn't offer or try! On the prowl in CT with Zvck and Big T looking for breakfast. Passing thru New Milford we spotted a busy little patio outside of a place called Johana's. We were seated inside promptly as it was a bit warm for the outdoor option. Immediately Big T spotted the Scotch eggs on the menu! For the record a scotch egg is a blanket of sausage wrapped around a soft boiled egg-youtube it i cant explain how they do this. Its a wonderful concoction that you dont usually find on many menus. Next Zvck ordered the banana pecan pancakes-wow. Big T added a plate of housemade corned beef hash (and it actually was made in house) with junks of corned beef. Lastly being an eggs Benedict aficionado i went with the corned beef benny. Coffee was solid, service was spot on and the food was hot and tasty. My only note was the Scotch eggs were done a little too long so the yoke was on the hard side. Still delicious. AND.. on Saturdays there is a nice little farmers market on the village green steps away from the restaurant. Lots of goodies. read more
