When I arrived, there were larger dogs playing outside, in a fenced area. Toby was waiting for me with his raincoat, toy, and hoodie all bagged up. Helen showed me the outside play area for small dogs, and told me that Toby had been playing with her Maltese, Sophie. I met Sophie :) Then Helen showed me the puppy room. OMG!!! So many absolutely adorable puppies, including Shih Tzus like Toby! I saw poodle puppies exactly like my brother's family dog. Everything that I saw was very clean, and the dogs and puppies looked healthy and well-cared for. I read the bad reviews. I like Helen. I think that if she doesn't want someone to have a dog, she has a reason. My brother's family has had their puppy for about a year now, and he's perfectly healthy. Noisy, but healthy. Helen did advise me about a group of basically criminals (HSUS), which includes people convicted of sexual harassment, embezzling, child sex trafficking, fraud, and racketeering. Interesting. They're supposed to be a humane society. So I wonder if possibly some of these reviews are perhaps not entirely accurate. But I can only speak to my own experience boarding Toby for 9 days, and my brother's family dog.

We had to go to the Savers donation center to drop off a lot of books, and I needed dog food. Prices for dog food are basically the same as PetSmart or Petco. I'm sorry that we got there at closing time, but those young men were very gracious. They're happy to check in stock, They also have a website you can order through that too, 99.9% of the time what you're looking for is a stocked item,and on the rare occasion that it is not or you have an item as I did a special cat food recommended by the vet they did not have on the shelf they called another location, had it there for me the next day! I also have a bad back and I cannot carry large bags of dog food for my dog....put my back out once they had the food delivered to my house free of charge which is a service they offer as well; if I go to the store, they are happy to bring it to my car for me if needed. John has advertised online as Long Island Boston Terriers with 1 year health guarantee if dog is taken to vet within 14 days of purchase. On 5/5/23 I went to view puppies and they seemed well until the one I purchased had diarrhea at viewing, John quickly scooped it up, I asked if she had parasite, he reassured me that she did not since there was no blood. After I left office I noticed her nose started running with mucus, she began to cough and sneeze within an hour. I took Butter (name he gave her) to my vet next morning 5/6/23. She was diagnosed with upper respiratory infection and was given antibiotic. They took stool sample since she had diarrhea. Instead of getting better I noticed symptoms worsen with cough, difficulty breathing and continuation of diarrhea. I took her back to vet Monday 5/8/23 since she was clinically ill, where they gave me stool sample results of two parasites Giardia & Coccidia) and deemed her unfit for purchase. I reached out to John Kowal who is giving me a hard time about reimbursement claiming that both conditions are common. I don't think after spending a lot of money on dog that next few days I should be spending hundreds with more follow up appointments soon. I noticed John Kowal was sued by Riverhead Town in 2014 for his breeding operation not being fit as he breeds Boston Terriers, Cane Corsos and Labs out of his home and seems to be more concerned about money and scamming people then the care of the animals. Hopefully AKC and Commissioner of Agriculture look into this to put a stop to the inhumane treatment of these pups
