Theisen's Auto saved the day for two road-trippers driving across country by fixing a tire with the nail in it. We had an 11 hour drive ahead of us so imagine when we found out we had a nail in our tire before continuing our driving. A nearby competitor, "T.P." were booked until 2pm and it would really mess with our MONTHS of road trip planning. Since it was Sunday and most places closed, Theisen's really came through. We were only delayed an hour. We did need a new tire but also cheaper than TP. It took them 20 minutes to put a new tire on and we walked around their store so we weren't bored. The staff couldn't be any more helpful. It was wonderful service and so lucky to have enough staff to handle walk-ins. read more

First it took and hour for this old guy to tell me he couldn't find a leak in my tire, even though I had to fill it with air every morning, it was at 19 PSI when I took it there, went back out, 10 min. Later he tells me he ' thinks' he found the problem. Says he patches it up, 2 days later the tire is completely flat. Don't go her, incompetent mechanics. Not safe to be deiving on tires, they supposedly fixed. I am pissed off! read more

I came in to buy a smoker that I saw was on sale. I must say the level of service I got was outstanding and really really efficient. I know it's just a smoker, but let me compare this to other experiences we've had recently. We ordered furniture and we had to pick it up, when it was bought to our car, the employees told us they couldn't load it due to risk of damaging a car. Similar experience with an online order from a hardware store except it took them 20 minutes from when we walked out paying to actually finding the order. By the time I paid to having the smoker loaded in my car was less than 5 minutes. Great process and execution by the Theisen Team! read more

I went to the Davenport automotive department to have a CV axle replaced on my vehicle. After sitting there for at least 30 minutes, I received a call and message stating they didn't know which axle needed to be replaced and they could not repair it. Although they are the ones who performed the inspection to tell me this. I was outside for my ride and then had to go back in to inform them of the axle that needed to be replaced. I would also like to mention that when I scheduled the appointment I specifically told them this is the reason for the appointment. I received a call 2 days prior asking me why I was bringing it in as no one put down the reason and I wasn't even in the time slot. It took them over 2 hours for an axle replacement. They didn't bother to call and let me know if and when vehicle was done. I had to call them. I picked up my vehicle after paying. I get outside, start my vehicle for 4 different set of lights illuminate on my dash. I then had to go back inside to ask what was going on. The person told me oh yes this lights is on, this light is on,etc. (ABS sensor, All wheel drive, traction control, stabilitrak). The girl behind the counter stated these lights were all on when I brought the vehicle in. I told her no they were not. If all these lights were on I would not have had the axle fixed and would have the other issues looked at. I had to talk to an Assistant manager and someone else who told me that these lights were in fact on. Once again I explained to him they were not. Two different technicians came out and basically argued with me stating these lights were on. I told them I found it interesting that from the time I parked my vehicle and the time it was brought into the bay (30 minutes) that all these lights were on. The one technician asked how do we know they weren't on. I told him as a customer I should not have to take a picture of my dash before I take my vehicle to any shop to PROVE no lights are on. And that once again if these lights were on I would not have brought it in. He was a complete jerk. I asked if all these lights were on why wasn't I informed. His reply was they don't tell customers their vehicles have lights on. And that it states on the work order. I replied it didn't state on the work order. He said and showed me on my receipt. I told him that that is not how you do business. He told me that maybe I should start taking a picture of my dash before I bring my vehicle in so I can prove that no lights are on. I would like to point out that no one should have to do this anytime you take your vehicle in. A good business would not expect you to do this or even have to worry about having more problems than when you went in. And also this ABS sensor light that is now on is from the same side they worked on. They clearly did something, possibly broke the sensor and do not want to own up to it. And their solution is for me to buy this ABS sensor and they will do the work for half the price. But I wasn't quoted a price. I told them no that is unacceptable. The tech told me that even if I did repair the ABS sensor that is no guarantee all these other lights will turn off. And that they scanned the vehicle. He said my all wheel drive is off..and that could possibly be a transmission issue and they do not do transmission work. Once again I found it odd that he would state that if they scanned my vehicle. Because if it was throwing a code for the transmission then they would have told me. Since it had all these other lights on. So they are not going to remedy the issue. They did it. And basically made out like no big deal I have all these lights on. Not our problem. Even the assistance manager didn't seem to care. And that it took over 2.5 hours for an axle assembly. I wasn't informed of anything nor told about these lights. A reputable shop would have told a person about the lights or asked these lights are on you still want this work done. Not this place. So I have to drive my vehicle like this and can not take it out of town like planned. I have a special needs child and my child will barely be able to attend school because this is bad to drive with all these lights on. I could get into a wreck or have a complete break down. And she won't be able to attend her appointments due to their carelessness and negligence. And I have to wait to take it to another repair shop. I don't think that having them replace this ABS sensor is a good idea. It might come out with more problems. They performed an oil change previously and paperwork showed 5W20 Oil grade. I told them of this and they told me the tech goes by what the dipstick says, they put on the work order what grade they think it takes. My vehicle would never even take this grade of oil. And instead of them doing a replacement with the proper oil, I was forced to drive it. If anyone that takes their vehicle into any Theisens, you might want to take a picture of your dash..you might end up with lights. read more

I got a gift from there and we had the gift receipt, I already had gotten that gift so I tried to return it and they wouldn't give me money. They instead gave me a $90 theisens gift card even though i never shop at theisens and so i suggest you don't buy gifts here. never shopping there again. read more

The store has really great products from old fashioned candy to a girls dream for clothes with great brand names. I got my filter and oil changed, needed my front hood struts replaced and wow!, they did a great job. Love the store cause it's still in country, great products and the staff are supper nice and helpful with good prices! read more

Stopped here to have my car battery checked (car had died). The employee tested the battery, cleaned out some corrosion residue and sprayed it with a protectant. And didn't charge a dime. Helpful and honest. read more

They have a manager that needs to learn how to apologize when something is put on the shelf wrong and then just leaves it in the spot where it is clearly a $15.99 product sitting in the $2.99 spot. Never had a problem with THeisens except the service dept. DO NOT BUY TIRES HERE. Cooper tires I bought were out of round and KEN (tire guy) didn't even know what that meant. He had to get another person to explain it to him. Ken was very rude and snappy when I was asking him questions. Far better deals at Costco !!! DO NOT SHOP HERE! While I appreciate the fact that Theisen's has some items which are hard to find, their customer service and return procedure/policy sucks. Overall, their staff are clueless and not helpful. On the return procedures, I am used to Lowes, where you walk in with no receipt, they swipe your credit card which you bought the item with, and 30 seconds later you are done. Even Mendards - which is a bit of a pain - has a console for you to look up your purchase and print a receipt off. But at Theisen's you have to have your receipt. If you do not, they will only give you the lowest sale price and a gift card only redeemable at their store. REALLY?? You can take my money in a digital transaction, but you have no way to look up a past purchase?? Until this company comes out of the 1980s and gets with the technological age, I won't step in their doors. Yeah, Theisen's, you blow. read more
