In my newfound attempt to become a novice plumber, specializing in bathroom sinks, I stopped by North Liberty Ace to get a new slip nut. I went to Ace as it is conveniently close by and even though the store is smaller than the usual home improvement store, I knew I would probably find what I needed. I did find it, but it was too small for the pipe I was joining to the wall trap (FYI - bathroom sink pipes are 1.25 inches whereas other pipes in your home are 1.5 inches). When I went back in a second time, I was able to get help from a few people who took the time to understand my problem and get me the correct gasket and slip nut for my wall trap and let me return the nut I had purchased. I appreciated that they were willing to open packaging to take out the products to make sure they would properly fit the pipe I had brought in for my project. In the end, I was able to attach my wall trap to the pipe in the wall, successfully join it to the P-trap and nothing under my sink is leaking! Thanks to the help of the Ace employees, I [finally] got this project done and have a new faucet in my bathroom. read more

I've been a customer in Ace Hardware stores in Nashville Tn, Portland Oregon, numerous places in Iowa as I help friends and family maintain their homes. The store in North Liberty iowa is by far the least helpful of them all! The first employee I found and asked for help basically cut off my question with an incorrect answer. Twice,, before I walked away from him. The second employee I searched out was slightly more helpful but didn't stop his shelf stocking to help me locate the item I needed. Ace has a competitive edge over big box stores in location convenience and knowledgeable, helpful employees. Downside is higher prices. This Ace Hardware store has the location advantage but their service level is lacking. Next time I will drive to the Big Box many minutes farther down the road. read more

Awesome Store. Stop in to support this locally owned store. I like to fill up with gas here. Also they have a great selection of gardening stuff and grills. I also prefer to grab cleaning supplies here to cut down on crowds. I usually can' t leave the store without someone asking if i found what i was looking for. This is a locally owned treasure! Whether you need one wood screw or a giant Weber grill, you can find it here! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Example: I called today to see if they had ice melt. They said truck was due soon then texted me when it arrived. I pulled up to front door and before I could get out of my truck, the manager had loaded the bags of ice melt into the truck and brought me my charge slip. They are like this every time!!!!! Also a great source for paint! read more

Great place to get household stuff like plastic wrap and axes. Employees are super helpful and they can be dog friendly if not busy.

Best place in town but if you're looking to get some fishing supplies act fast they don't restock often but other than that it is truly amazing read more

This store is why we need to save small local hardware stores. You just don't get this kind of service in big box. We purchased a grill there and when it did not fit in our SUV the store manager offered to deliver it to us in his personal vehicle on his way home. We will definitely be return customers! read more

Nice store but the manager(or at least he acts like it) is very rude and if you ask him a question he reacts in such as a manner that you're bothering him. He needs to spend more time helping customers and not standing in the window looking out at the gas pumps. He needs an attitude adjustment. And those silly little glasses he has hanging around his neck are hilarious. Go else where for you supplies. read more

EVERYONE that works at this place is helpful, kind, and patient. I started a few projects and went in there 3-5 times a day to get something that I forgot or to ask questions. They always helped. Great service from a local owned hardware store. It's the same distance to here as it is to a lowes but the friendly "personal" service wins out every time. Knowledgable staff with friendly smiles. Plus they sell Rickles pickles! read more
