It felt tantamount to extortion. While I fully support what photographer do and understand that a lot of work goes into the final product, the outright refusal to work together -- or worse accept any type of non-cash payment -- shows that Michael Carr Photography does not care about long term customer care. We would never consider using them again in the future knowing this is the way past clients are treated. (Not to mention, the wedding photos in question put them on the COVER of The Knot at the time. They got their money's worth in referrals alone.) Choose another photographer who works in the modern age and cares about their customer's experience. Lisa and Michael do not. Karen started the business and has been doing this for 25 years. I met with Debbi who does this because she loves her work. They enjoy doing candid, but not intrusive shots, and are bossy during posed photos and use digital cameras. If I remember correctly, you do own the rights to the photos i.e. your proofs. The office has an indoor portrait studio and a half-acre garden for outdoor photographs. They can shoot bridal and engagement sessions, and weddings. They also do individual, groups, businesses, children, expectant mothers, and pets. The only problem was that they cost a lot more than I wanted to spend on photography. Photography is important to me--I want good pictures of this one day dangit! But 3 hours of coverage with online viewing, album, and parent album, and bridal and engagement sessions was $3650 before taxes. $500 deposit is due at booking, balance due 2 weeks before wedding. They do give a 10% discount for paying by cash or check.
