I did not want to have to write this. I've been a loyal client of Therapy since 2014 and was understanding when prices went up a few times, especially since everything else has gotten more expensive. I believed the new owners were using the extra funds to upgrade the spa, buy new equipment and pay employees better, at least according to their emails. Sadly, there's been a rapid decline in the business. The spa now looks dingy and neglected, and there's a foul odor throughout. The quality of facial and massage services dropped so much due to the constant turnover that I had to stop coming altogether. I had been seeing Chelsea Bowman and the master facialist Ami Sheneman for years. Both left, and no one contacted me to let me know I wouldn't be seeing them for my next appointment. I only found out when I showed up and discovered I'd be seeing someone else. The new girl Kendall, bless her heart--she tried her best, but it just wasn't the same. On top of it when I asked the girls at the desk where Chelsea and Ami went, each time they looked scared and uncomfortable answering. For anyone wondering where Ami went: I found her! She's now at Pier to Point down the street at the other end of Voltaire. I've already been there and signed up for multiple memberships. I highly recommend you do the same. It's such a shame about this spa since it's been part of the community for so long. Edit in response to the owner's comment: Thank you for your response. My intention was to share my honest disappointment about the recent changes and lack of transparency when my preferred practitioners left, which significantly impacted my experience. I understand privacy policies, but as a loyal client, I felt it would have been more considerate to inform me prior to my appointment that my practitioners would no longer be there, enabling me to make the decision if I wanted to see someone new or not. This would have allowed me to cancel, so I could continue my services with the professionals I had established trust with. This place is super cute and cozy! When you walk into the lobby there are different facial cleansers, moisturizers, teas, bracelets, CBD ointments and gummies that you can purchase. It's a very relaxing environment, soothing music, and everyone is very warm and welcoming. I was gifted a massage for my birthday. I got a massage today by Gwen and she was absolutely amazing. She massaged me from head to toe and her hands are magical. I told her my problem areas and she really honed in on them with just the right amount of pressure. Breaks my heart to write this, but after being a monthly member for nearly 8 years, I finally cancelled my membership. A few thoughts... I always enjoyed coming here, and could reliably find an appointment with a great masseuse and facialist. I even waded through COVID with them and was delighted when they were back in full swing, once it was possible. New ownership came in thereafter, and the first noticeable change was, of course, an increase in prices. Not just with the treatments, but with the monthly membership as well. There was also now less perks with that membership... but still, I stayed. I watched as a lot of staff left, many not quiet about their frustrations... but still, I stayed. My all time favorite facialist was there, and I didn't want to loose access to her. She was also very supportive of the changes taking place and would help me find a new masseuse when the one I was going to would leave... so, I stayed. Then, they began closing during the week, which when you're a monthly member, makes it challenging to consistently find an appointment time, especially when your preferred roster of eligible professionals is shrinking. Final straw was when my facialist left. I figured, if the person who was encouraging me to stay this whole time ultimately felt compelled to leave herself, it's time for me too. A little disappointing that no one asked me why after so many years I was cancelling my membership. I even asked in my cancellation notification to call me to confirm receipt, and it never happened. But then again, even the front desk staff had frequent turnover, so perhaps that contributed? I just had the most relaxing facial by Melody. My friend raves about her so I finally got to see why. Super inviting space with beautiful decor. I was relieved when she didn't judge me for not having an elaborate skin care routine. She had the most soothing gentle hands and didn't force any products on me like most estheticians. While I waited for the mask to soak in, she gave me the most incredible neck and shoulder massage. It does get a little pricey but totally worth it, especially if you only go once in a while. I could literally fall sleep the rest of the day now, feeling so rejuvenated and can't wait until my next facial. read more

My wife gifted me a Signature Glow facial for my birthday last Sunday. I have never had a facial before so I wasn't sure what to expect. The receptionist was very friendly and offered me water or tea while I waited. Ami is a lead esthetician there and she did a great job! She asked if I preferred her talking to me and telling me what she was doing or applying throughout the facial or if I preferred a quiet relaxing time which I appreciated. I opted for talking because it was my first one and she was friendly and informative. They use a toner that smells like cucumber with a mix of fruit (maybe?) and it smelled SO GOOD. Last Friday was my first time at this location of Therapy Day Spa, and my first time having a facial at any of the locations. I like that I was able to schedule a facial for 5:30. Lots of places don't have time slots that work for 9-5ers like myself. Anyway, parking can be a bit challenging in that area near the beach, but I found a spot close by. I was warmly greeted at the door. The lobby area has a large wall of products for sale. Also, there was cute artsy jewelry to look through. There is also a relaxing lounge to wait in, but I didn't have to wait at all. They were ready for me, even though I was a few minutes early. I don't remember the name of the person who gave me the facial, but she was great. She asked me a few questions about my skin. She also made some simple conversation in the beginning, but then was quiet so I could relax. I really liked the different masks and products they used. I felt like my skin was soft and hydrated at the end. The stuff smelled great too! I also like that I didn't feel pressured to get additional treatments or to buy anything in the end. The only thing that was a bit disappointing is that from the questions asked, I didn't really feel like they reviewed that questionnaire that you fill out before I come in. If this review was just for my massage, it'd be a solid five stars. But, I got a massage and a facial, and the facial was hands-down the worst I've ever experienced. My team and I came here to cap a day of hiking and lunching. I had reserved hour massages and facials for the three of us. When we arrived, all three people at the front were wholly focused on one customer, who was apparently going out of the country for a while. We weren't greeted when we walked in and sat around for a bit before one lady asked if they could help us. They took us back for our treatments after getting my two colleagues checked in (I'd completed the intake form online prior to our appointment). I went with Andrea for my massage to start. I would absolutely come back for a massage with Andrea again. She took a moment to ask some basic questions and then proceeded to administer the most wonderful massage I've ever received. She eased tensions I hadn't even realized I'd had, and left me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Unfortunately, I went from her to my facial, and things went downhill fast. It was the worst facial I've ever had - about a minute after I stood up to get dressed, I was hit with a tremendous headache that stayed with me the majority of the day. To start, the aesthetician asked the questions you'd expect at the start of any facial. I told her that I don't put chemicals on my face - my skin regime is all-natural - and asked if it'd be a problem with the treatment. Now - full disclosure - I went through all this when I booked our reservations (one of my colleagues is also all-natural in her skin routine, with very sensitive skin, so I checked that this wouldn't be an issue when making the reservations the week prior). I also made sure to note this on my intake form, so she would've had 4 different points of me telling her that I don't want any chemical-laden products on my face. She then spent the majority of the next hour talking at me while she administered the facial. I don't mind a few comments or questions, but she kept up almost a non-stop patter about products and services and things that I can do to make my skin *that much* better. Look, I know my skin isn't flawless, but it's *worlds* better than it was even three years ago. I certainly don't need the constant reminder that my skin's not perfect, and I found myself unable to relax under her care. To cap things off, she did end up putting two different chemical-laden products on my skin before leaving the room, which I'd specifically asked her not to do. Twice. And then the headache hit. It'd be irresponsible for me to connect the two - the chemicals and the headache - but I've never in my life walked away from a spa with a pounding, nausea-inducing headache. read more

My boyfriend wanted to get a couple's massage for my birthday present (and probably for himself too) so we decided to check this place out. Even though I've gotten massages at places before, it was my first time ever getting any kind of professional massage like this so I had no idea what to do. The person at the front desk was very welcoming and greeted us with a smile. She took us to a lounge in the back and offered us water. I got Shauna and my boyfriend got Jen. They were also very friendly and seemed happy to be with us. They let us undress down to however we felt comfortable, so we could keep our undergarments on if we wanted to. Both of us told them to apply heavier pressure, and we could definitely feel that they did. It's been a while since our last massages, so we knew that we would have a lot of knots and tightness. They would go over our bodies until they found a knot, then they would work on it until it untightened. In the last massage I got (not from here), the guy pressed so hard that I had bruises the next day. Because of that experience, I didn't know if that was the way that massages were supposed to be. When I came out of there, I felt more relaxed immediately after. I wanted to go right to sleep once I left, even though it was around noon. Once they were done they let us take our time in getting up and putting our clothes back on. While we were paying, Jen told my boyfriend where she found him to be tighter, and gave him a few stretching pointers that he could use for himself before he goes to the gym. After we finished paying, they invited us back to the lounge where they offered us wine and tea. We hung around there and took our time, and when we were finally done, they wished us a nice day. The next day we could still kind of feel where they worked on us, but we felt a lot more relaxed and less stressed. We could also feel that our muscles were less tight. Alright waited a day to make this review, went in yesterday for the spa, wine, and snack package and it was amazing. I know there are so many spa places in San Diego and I was worried about not finding a good one and messing up my birthday. Well I am glad I found this place and came, the staff was super friendly and my massage therapist Shauna was AMAZING. I need to start doing this more often, prices are pretty reasonable too. The place is a small building with no parking so come with extra time to find parking I came during the week so it wasn't horrible, not sure about weekends. After moving to OB, I was on a mission to find replacement businesses in the hood for all of my beauty needs. Places I could walk to and not have to worry about driving across town for. I discovered Therapie on Yelp and haven't looked back since! The staff is friendly and while I liked my first girl much better (she is no longer there), both of my experiences were awesome. My skin feels great afterwards and everyone in there is more than willing to answer any questions you might have or provide any recommendations. Speaking of recommendations, I love the products they sell! They are really high quality and I love that I can just walk in and grab whatever I run out of, instead of waiting for shipping from the big stores. But their selection of products isn't all they have! There's a super cute boutique filed with goodies from local artisans and it is definitely fun to look through while you wait. They have everything from candles and scarves to jewelry and lotions. I love it! If you're considering one of their spa day specials, definitely do it. They partner with 3rd Corner for food and drinks so you know it's going to be amazing! A friend and I came in for a massage and facial package. The staff was very friendly and accommodating . I can't really complain about how we were treated, everyone was lovely. The massage though unfortunately was not very good. Most establishments will ask you what kind of pressure you like and our masseuse did not. She asked what areas I wanted to focus on but never delivered. I was disappointed. I asked half way through for firmer pressure and she continued to use light pressure. Our facial was nice but nothing stood out. This place had 5 stars so I expected more. Both my friend and I just Had babies a few months ago and were hoping to unwind. I knew I wanted to relax for my manifested Hippie Holiday away from home - so based on the glowing Yelp reviews - I booked myself a facial at Therapie Day Spa. While celebrating my birthday in San Diego my husband surprised me with a prenatal massage. At 5 months pregnant with swollen feet it was the best surprise EVER! He scheduled the massage for 12:30pm on Monday afternoon. He dropped me off a few minutes early and and took a walk down to a local bar. When I walked in I noticed Therapie Day Spa was small but very welcoming, clean, relaxing and refreshing. After checking in I had some water while filling out some paperwork in a side room with soothing music. Shortly after Korrin came and took me into the massage room. It was dim, warm and had calm soothing music. Korrin said to undress to as little as comfortable and lay on the massage bed sideways with my bottom leg straight and top leg on the pregnancy pillow. Korrin's massage was amazing. She applied just the right amount of pressure and asked if everything was okay in between. After massaging my back, neck and head on one side she had me roll to the other side then repeated the massage. The massage ended with a warm towel foot rub. I admit when in I felt tense from just daily activities and traveling. When I first laid down my nose was a little stuffed but within minutes of my massage I went from breathing through my mouth to breathing through my nose and filling my lungs to full capacity. I was trying my best not to fall asleep and start drooling. The whole experience put me in such a relaxed mode when the massage was over I didn't want to get dressed and leave. I truly enjoyed my experience and would return to Therapie Day Spa the next time I'm in San Diego and needing some extra relaxation. My fiancé and I got a couples massage here a few weeks ago! I was having terrible migraines and sinus issues! However, after the massage & a couple days later I felt back to my old self! The massage was so relaxing and I hope to return soon!!
