My wife and I visited a couple of weeks ago and let say the cocktails and music are superb!! I asked our waitress if she could have the bartenders craft a cocktail with citrus, duck fat and single barrel bourbon. She came back with the best cocktail I've had in 5 years easily! My wife loved her drinks and the vibe is amazing w/a staff that is awesome. We are planning our trip back from CA as we speak! read more

Speakeasy is alive and well in Boise. This is well hidden, in plain sight downtown. Once you enter and dial in the ambiance is excellent. Our group throughly enjoyed the time, service and drinks. The space is well laid out and even with energetic music it's easy to have a conversation for a group or as a couple. We had several of their bar offerings. All are well designed and painstakingly crafted. We enjoyed the entire experience. read more

Visited here with my partner last month and it was great. I loved the atmosphere; very classy yet cozy at the same time. The drinks we ordered were great and our server was very attentive. This was a fun experience, from the secret entry to the unique drinks. The service was spectacular, properly attentive, but not intrusive. The drinks were delicious, promptly delivered, but expensive and they use clear ice which is a bonus. The ambiance just right and noise level was ok but it was early on a weekday evening and the bar was not very full. $190 for 4 people, 2 rounds of drinks, 1 charcuterie board and tip. read more

5 stars 100%!!! You wouldn't know it's there unless you knew it was there. The craft cocktails are superb. The Poppy Don't Peach bourbon cocktail with a touch of Prosecco is refreshing. The ambiance has an elegant retro aesthetic, feels like you're being teleported back to the 50s. The music was a mixture of 90s rap- R&B, which is what I grew up listening to. I haven't been to many bars downtown yet, but I think it's still safe to say that Thick As Thieves will remain one of my favorites. Not only is the atmosphere absolutely killer and the service excellent, but the drinks were the best I've had. The Pan Dan is a must try! If you're looking for a cool place to take someone who's only in town for a bit, this needs to be on your list! read more

Thick as thieves is all about the experience. The speakeasy vibe, dark mood lights, mysterious ambiance. However, I think as they have gotten more popular they have gone downhill. These drinks are ridiculously expensive. Staff has a pretentious vibe, and it's so dang dark you'll need a flashlight (other than the little black light they give you). We were about 5 minutes away from a 1 hour stay, and had not 1, but 2 staff members tell us that we needed to leave our hour was up. With our group spending over $200 total on drinks, it was clear they're just interested in getting as many people in & out as they can. I'd recommend a different cocktail spot such as Ochos or hap hap for a just as quirky, but more kind experience! read more

We randomly found this place on our anniversary so we thought we'd see if we could grab a drink before our dinner reservation. They had room at the bar thankfully. Such an amazing atmosphere! Great little speakeasy. Fun entry experience, cozy ambiance, and SOLID drink menu. All that, and they're not overly pretentious. We were out and about with no plans to pop into a nicer cocktail bar, but the fact that I was rocking flip-flops and a hat was no big deal. I ended up getting The Pastry War, and now I'm on a mission to recreate it at home. My wife got a NA mocktail made with hibiscus, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The only downside is the cost, but it's not far off from other cocktail establishments. Just know what you're getting into. Will we be back? For. Sure. read more

Thick as thieves is such a fun spot. It really does give speakeasy vibes. Upon entering you have to use an old fashioned phone to call the restaurant and let them know you've arrived. You enter through a secret door and once you do you're transported back to prohibition era. The ambiance is immaculate as well as the drink menu. They have a variety of fun drinks and some on their secret menu as well (make sure you ask for a blue light). All of the drinks are served in their own unique way, which adds to the experience. The amaro float might be the best drink I've had! read more

We legitimately stumbled upon this bar looking for another one, and I am so glad. The whole set up is so cool, and the menu surprise was next level! We only meant to stay for one drink, but we ended up having three each because they were so good and we loved it so much. Love love love this place! FYI to y'all that don't understand speak easies... please don't complain about not getting in without a rez. This place is an EXPERIENCE. Which means they can't let everyone in, it'd be too noisy and would kill the aesthetic. Dress the part, enjoy the drinks, chat with the servers and bar tenders. Go. Just go. I'm from a pretty alcohol-centric place but this spot amazes me every time. The sophistication that goes into the drinks, concept, service and vibe are out of this world. It's so creative. The drinks are pricey but their happy hour is very reasonable. But it's worth every penny. They take pride in their cocktails and it's just so fun when we go. This place definitely passes the vibe check. Our go to spot to bring friends from out of town. Drinks are pricey but super unique. Girlfriend and sister surprised me with a reservation here for pre birthday dinner cocktails. The entrance is discreet and unassuming as you'd hope for a "speakeasy." Once inside, the lighting and decor give off the prohibition era vibes. Drinks were great, each coming in their own unique glass, and no more expensive than other fancy cocktail bars downtown. Lastly, I thought that given the limited seating and requirement to make a reservation we would at some point be rushed to either close out or order more drinks, but that was not the case and our waitress was very nice and timely. I came here with my husband as part of our anniversary weekend. The experience is a lot of fun. You enter through an inconspicuous door and dial the rotary phone-something I embarrassingly had to have my husband do for me. They'll ask if you have a reservation and come through the mirrored wall to get you. The ambiance is very romantic and the venue is mostly candlelit. The decor is an elegant mix of traditional 1920s speakeasy style and elevated modern bar style. Our reservation placed us in a love seat in front of the fireplace filled with candles. We were given menus-beautifully designed and started with the Birds of a Feather and the Poppy don't Peach. Birds of a feather was spicy, boozy, and warm. Poppy don't peach is very refreshing and fruity despite the amount of alcohol in it. For our second round I switched to the Poppy don't Peach and my husband got an espresso martini, one of the best either of us has ever had. Thick as Thieves is pricier at around $14-$17 per cocktail but it's a fun, romantic experience with well crafted cocktails. Perfect for a special occasion or nice date night. You're definitely paying for good service (all recommendations were perfect and staff is attentive) and the atmosphere as well as your actual drink. read more

Excellent date spot. Great drinks and ambiance, but there needs to be a dress code. I wouldn't say I like getting dressed up to have $15 drinks at a swanky bar, only to sit next to a guy in cargo shorts and mandles. Secondly, the choice of music was terrible, pop garbage and way too loud. Maybe consider Deep House, Frank Sinatra, Acid Jaz, Miles Davis. read more

A small window in the door opened and we had to provide a password to gain entry. (Initially our large group had to reserve 3 time slots and we would be seated separately.) I was in the first group. We were let into a small area with floor to ceiling bookcases. Of course there was a book that once pulled, opened a secret door to the bar within. The ambiance was dim lighting and groups of comfortable seating areas. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu. I started with a mocktail that could be made vegan by omitting the egg white. Beautifully presented with a flower design. It was sweet and it was tart. The second drink I got was a cocktail that was smooth with a perfect amount of sweet. My friends got cocktails in their unique glasses. When our next group came through, they were led into a room. After a while, one friend came out to say hello to us. The waiter noticed that we knew each other and told my group to follow him. The room was dimly lit and was furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. Our third group was able to join us in the room and we were able to mingle seated or standing. The different drinks that were ordered were so cool. A smoky bubble was set on top of a cone shaped glass that resembled an ice cream cone. I had a couple of friends that ordered gin drinks and they were served in a bathtub complete with rubber ducky! This was such a fun and special way to celebrate a friend's birthday! The macadamia nut liqueur was so unique and delicious, it really added a lot to the drink. Both drinks were amazing, and not too sweet or overpowering in flavor, and I would order them again.
