They make all kinds of espresso cocktails but even their classic espresso martini hits the spot just right. The only downside to our experience was that the dj seemed to be playing from a playlist and couldn't take requests or do anything particularly interesting with the songs though I'll have to admit that it was a fun playlist. Sooooo they racially profiled at the door. Do with that as you will... Me and my two friends (white) got in with no problem. Our ids were checked quickly with no issues. Our fourth friend who we came with had a very different experience. She was the only one of us who was not white, and her id was taken by the bouncers with no reason. She was told she needed a cop to verify her id even though it scanned and came back valid. She showed her debit card to verify her identity, but they insisted a cop check it. Luckily there was a cop near by and he verified the ID, but we were still given no reason to why the ID needed to be checked. This felt like direct racism towards our friend. read more

For being 3.5 star rated place on Yelp, I was definitely surprised. This place was pretty chill, relaxed, great ambiance, lighting, layout, the food and overall service and experience. The food was fresh and pretty good. Their cod fish and chips were pretty bomb . The fish was flaky and juicy on the inside, crunchy on the outside. If I had to guess, mine would've been that it was a fresh catch of the day. A nice change of pace from a lot of other places I've had before. The prices can get a little bit out there. So, if it wasn't for Happy Hour, I can see the bill getting a little steep. But, their happy hour menu is pretty expansive, wide, lots of choices and the food is good. The drinks were good as well, which they have a coffee bar and if that's your thing, they have some crafty, nifty choices for a spin on drinks!! The bartender was pretty helpful, friendly and funny. They did start getting a little busy, so we were there for only maybe an hour and a half. They were a little short staffed, otherwise, I think the drinks would've come out a little quicker. Been to Amsterdam plenty of times, service is generally friendly and prompt. Today on a Wednesday night, it not only took at least 30 minutes to get a drink (it is not busy whatsoever) but the glasses were dirty, and my whiskey sour did not even closely resemble what it should (see picture below). Makes it hard paying $12 for a drink.... I get people are understaffed, but the fact we had friends arrive after us and finished their drink before we even got ours is... sad Just to put into perspective, I was so tired of waiting I went to Cactus Bar and got a well shot of whiskey that was better than what I was served. read more

The Venue: - I came on a Wednesday after checking out Neurolux and Humpin Hannah's on the same night. I must say, as of now, this is my favorite "come-down" bar/lounge in Boise. What is a "come-down" bar? It is a bar that one goes around 1-ish in the morning when the other bars are starting to die down, so one had their fix of dancing and partying, come to this venue, have a final drink or two, and come hang out with friends and have good conversations. They have indoor and outdoor areas, but the outdoor area captured my preference. Upshot: Amsterdam Lounge is a nice spot for one to come with friends and enjoy good drinks and good talks. read more

This is my second time here. The first time I was with some new friends I met at a collaborative mixer that was hosted here and we ended up staying and having dinner. The food was pretty tasty and the wine selection was nice. They do have a sh and a dance floor so it can get a bit loud but I'm all about that. I ordered chips, guacamole salsa and queso and got bland chips and flavorless quac for 12.00. When I addressed this with the waitress, she informed me that they didn't have queso. When I asked for more quac, and the salsa, she was obviously very put out. Our waitress was unfriendly, unsmiling and totally unaccommodating. This experience in a cool and swanky bar/restaurant could have been so fun had we had an attentive and happy waitress. I have to adamantly disagree with the other two previous reviews! The layout and spacing of The Amsterdam Lounge contributes to the sense that it is perhaps one of the few adult bars in town! Super comfortable patio couches and an exterior wooden high top bar are inviting and relaxing. The menu is diverse and the coffee cocktails are superb. I love this vibe. My adjustment from Vegas to Boise in the past year has not been totally easy, when it comes to restaurants & bars, but finding Amsterdam was like finding gold- it's my happy place. Amstradam offers a modern & artistic atmosphere with excellent- while classy, it's still laid back. Bartenders are all great, for the most part (Veronica is our fav). Seasonal & craft cocktails are always great & their happy hour is fantastic. I really enjoy the space: 2 bars + a 3rd on outside patio (during warmer months) offers a ton of bar-seating, a pool table, some couch seating, & lots of area for parties & get- togethers. They offer a smaller food menu, which I believe comes from a neighboring resturant (I go for the ambience & drinks, have not tried the food). We have attended some free events at Amsterdam, which are fun; however some times (on holidays & such) they charge a cover, which can be steep & not always worth the cost to get in. They have Adam Chavarria come in & sing often- Amsterdam is where I fell for his music, so I love that! read more

This is a really nice place to have some drinks with friends and coworkers. I was in Boise for a business trip and we visited the bar several times. Every time the staff was very friendly and attentive. I accidentally took the doorman's jacket by mistake. I returned it the next night. Tawny, the GM was so appreciative that she bought me a drink. Very much unexpected and very much appreciated. Ask for Tawny's concoction if you like mezcal, limoncello, triple sec and black cherries. It's delicious. Beautiful setting. I had fun making a couple new friends playing pool in their gorgeous game room. Asked for a dirty martini, Tito's vodka. Completely unable to drink. Tasted like fish water, no really, like a fishy water. I got the bartenders attention and told her this was undrinkable so she asked if I'd like another something but the music was so loud I just ask for a shot of Titos. She brought it and I took a drink only to find it tasting like fish water, not like water fish have been swimming in but like you're handling a fish taste. The Amsterdam Lounge wants to be a high quality club environment. It is not. They have club priced drinks. $8 wells, and $6 12 oz domestics. They have worse than dive bar quality everything else. There is art literally falling out of its frame. The pool tables have seriously stained loose felt and the cues are bent or have the tip coming loose. If you want to go to the Amsterdam, just go to Fatty's instead. read more

We went here after seeing a moving for a quick drink before exploring around downtown, I found it to be extremely disappointing. The customer service was subpar and we walked in and no one greeted us and we had to ask them how to receive service. We decided on the outside bar to sit at, the bartender was playing with someone's puppy brought in and barely interacted with us. We hit happy hour, which was nice and unexpected, but my drink was extremely watered down and I felt as though there was so much potential for a great experience. I gave two stars because I loved the outside vibes they had going on and also because of the music they were playing, however, I do not think I would ever come back here. read more
