This is a cool brewery-sushi bar hybrid in Kirkland! We ordered a bunch of lychee martinis and a mango margarita - they were great. The sushi was decent quality and good! We ordered some apps, a bunch of sushi rolls and some sashimi. The staff were polite and let us stay past closing before gently letting us know we had to leave. read more

Updating my review for this excellent sushi bar and tap room. As of 1/2/26, they have a new menu, a new sushi bar inside, and they're now open all weekend. They were previously closed on Sunday, but they're now open on Sunday and closed on Monday. When you come, ask for the "Jeremy Special" which is their Spicy Tuna and Crispy Rice but with avocado added on the side. So tasty! Also, my review below from while ago is still accurate. The food is some of the best sushi in the area and the best beer in town since the owner consults with other beer experts on the selection - which are many of their regulars (you can find their current tap list on Untapped)! One of my favorite sushi spots, the salmon is always super fresh and the miso soup is great!

A friend invited me here to share with me this hidden late night sushi spot in Kirkland. We stopped in and the service was slow as molasses. We finally ordered our usual whole table of food to try and wished the staff was a bit more attentive with us needing more ginger, utensils, water & additional food order items. The ambiance is still very much dive bar inside but with a sushi menu. The sushi was all very delicious and the mochi for dessert hit the spot. I'll be back in hopes that the wait for late night sushi isn't too long. read more

My partner and I dropped in to try Thirsty Hop on Saturday right at opening. Parking was easy to find and the service was very friendly and prompt! The interior is cozy and there's board games if you want to come grab a beer and chill. They offer a decent variety of local craft beers and some sake and wine too. We ordered the Matryoshka imperial stouts which were amazing! If you love stouts you'll probably like this. Not too sweet, smooth mouthfeel, and easy to drink. For food we had the God Father roll, Salmon Skin roll, Amazing roll, Happiness roll, and Mountain roll. Each roll was delicious! If you're looking for savory rolls: definitely the Happiness and God Father rolls. If you want something light, slightly sweet, and refreshing: Mountain roll! Been coming here for a few years now. Service is very attentive, quick, and welcoming. Food is awesome. Great beer selection as well, different craft beer from all over WA/OR/CA. Just for my experience having a beer at the bar: this is a great spot! We were waiting for dinner at Cafe 79 and decided to stop by for a beer. I was thrilled to see they had one of my favorite beers on draft (Duchesse de Bourgogne, a lovely Belgian sour) and my partner had a local Gingerbread stout. Our friends suggested meeting up at The Thirsty Hop, and though a hop shop with sushi seemed like a strange mix, it turned out to be a great combination! As you walk in, the cozy vibe is immediately inviting, especially on a cold, rainy day with an inviting fireplace to sit next to. They even have games to play! The beer selection was decent with plenty of choices, and the sushi was surprisingly delicious! We ordered quite a bit, with the Hawaiian tuna being a standout favorite--we liked it so much, we ordered it twice. We also tried a variety of other dishes, including wings, gyoza, and rolls, and everything was excellent. The staff were friendly and had a great sense of humor, adding to the enjoyable atmosphere. So good! Had a peach seltzer or cider and it was delicious. Servers answered all of our questions. Sushi was top notch and very unexpected coming from the neighborhood bar scene! I will be back and I have already told many friends how good it is! We got the mussels and scallop dish (great) A poke tartar with mango in it and served with the most delicate and crispy rice chips! I think one of the spicy tuna of some sort. (Great) And a roll with unagi and tempura shrimp. (Great!) I would order all three again and there are still pages more to choose from! read more

We four had dinner and drinks; two among our party live nearby and are regulars. I really enjoyed the Bibimbap I ordered with beer! BEER/WINE: 4.0. Good selection of beers, and limited but decent wines. We were all satisfied with our choices of beers and wines. FOOD: 4.0. - Bibimbap: 4.5. A real standout and I will order again. I hadn't had Bibimbap this good since living in Hawaii and Guam. I chose to have with Tofu, though beef is also available. Especially good with a cold beer. - Sashimi: 3.5. The Japanese person in our group rated her DELUXE DINNER as quite good for previously-frozen fish, and says she would order it again. I ordered one tako sashimi and would rate it a 2.5; in future I won't order individual sashimi. SERVICE: 3.5. Enthusiastic and accurate. AMBIANCE: 4.0. Indoor and some outdoor seating. It became quite full by 6pm on the Friday we visited (with a full parking lot), but never got so noisy that we couldn't easily carry on a conversation. read more

What great find. I happened upon this great spot by chance. Popped in out of curiosity. So glad I did! They have an extensive on tap selection of local and regional brew and wine. What I found surprising was the menu. Both Korean and Japanese fare are offered. I ordered the CA roll (wasn't planning on eating but felt like a snack). Have to say, the best I've ever had! It was delicate in its presentation but offered multi levels of texture and taste. They use a cucumber that is a bit sweet and less watery than what I am accustomed to. I was late night scrolling on Uber Eats and I noticed a restaurant named Sushi I on the app which was my favorite sushi spot in Ballard. The sushi and roll names were also the same as the spot in Ballard, which closed unfortunately. So the next day I order pick up from the restaurant and the address is Thirsty Hop. I ask if this sushi restaurant is the same owners as Sushi I that closed and they said yes! I am so thrilled because the sushi tastes the same but it's minutes from my work. I was so sad when Sushi I closed but am so happy I stumbled across the new restaurant. They have a full Japanese menu as well as lots of beers on tap. Their spicy tuna is my favorite in the world and I could never find one that compared. I will be here regularly for a weekly lunch. I hope to bring my co workers for some after work happy hours. Thirsty Hop has delicious and fresh sushi that is reasonably priced. The service is fast and friendly and they seem to have some regulars from the neighborhood. Food- amazing. Some of the freshest, and greatest sushi, and apps in the area! The presentation is great, as well as the sushi rice is cooked perfect. (I've had lousy sushi rice)... Service- is attentive, and always doing their best, on top of being all in one bartender/server... super kind, as well as a family ran business. So their hearts are in it. Husband and I took a great walk nearby in Bridle trails state park, and recalling a prior visit a couple of years ago stopped by. As we walked in, we noticed a board outside with the huge sushi menu. My husband said well, that's weird, maybe this is now a sushi restaurant... So we walked in, and, nope, still the thirsty hop brewpub! We asked the bartender, a young, sweet, friendly guy, what was up with the sushi menu, and he said, that's the current food choice! Oh, my God, a brew pub with a sushi chef? Yes, please! Beer selection was super solid with the addition of cider and hard seltzer (Yuzu, it was one of the choices... Really cool...) as well as a fully stocked bar with top shelf liquors. I had a glass of cool refreshing Riesling and my husband had the Sapporo lager, which were great choices for this hot summer day. We restrained ourselves by ordering, just a veggie roll, and a spicy tuna with crispy rice, which were fresh and excellent. The spicy tuna was preseasoned perfectly in the bottom layer of rice was pan, fried and crunchy. I couldn't have been happier. We will totally be back and highly recommend the thirsty hop. We went with friends; everyone loved their sandwiches: turkey pesto; bratwurst with bacon and peanut butter; pastrami, cheese and sauerkraut; pastrami without cheese, but with sauerkraut - all were delicious! Guys enjoyed their beers: a local porter and another porter with peanut butter (sense a theme here?). Thirsty Hop seems to be a local watering hole, with many regulars and thoughtful service. The space is warm and clean with a small/medium sized bar, lounge seating, and plenty of high top tables. Drinks are below market value, which is welcome as you can't find bottom shelf booze here. I didn't have any food, but they offer some quick bites. Saw a lot of nachos ordered; chips, cookies, and popcorn are offered off the shelf with no wait. As Thirsty Hop's name implies, this bar is focused on local brewed beverages on tap. The featured cocktail I tried, some cucumber gin concoction, hit the spot. The bartenders are more than capable of making drinks they don't know on the fly; I tried ordering a little know classic cocktail, the Martinez, the drink came out better than most bartenders who already know how to make a Martinez! The bar is quiet and the staff is friendly. The drinks are nice and well priced. They have a sports TV going on. Most of the crowd is middle aged or senior. So this is not a typical bar with lot of young crowd and packed. This is not a place to pick up someone. But nice to meet someone. read more

Very chill bar. Don't let the name fool you, the bartenders makes some good cocktails as well as having a great beer menu. They have done a great job at managing there available space during Covid.
