I've only recently started spending more time in the Redmond area for work, and Matador has quickly become one of my favorite spots to unwind after a long day. Most of the time I'm dining solo, and this place just has a great vibe. The music is always on point, the artwork and decor throughout the restaurant are awesome, and it's one of those places where you can relax, enjoy a good meal, and feel comfortable whether you're by yourself or with a group. Daniel (I believe that was his name) was outstanding. He made sure I was taken care of the entire time, stayed on top of drinks, and checked in just enough without ever being overbearing. Great service like that doesn't go unnoticed. As for the food, I always order the Carne Asada (steak) Burrito and have them add guacamole inside. It's become my go-to and has never disappointed. Had a great experience last time and came back today, and ended up with disappointment. - habanero prawn was extremely spicy to the level that it's overpowering and not enjoyable anymore, unlike last time when it tasted like a spicy tomato soup with more balance - Baja taco fish: the fish was extremely overcooked and the crust was no longer crispy. It was served not hot but cold hard and stale - al pastor taco: the pork was hard and chewy, and extremely dried out What a big miss. Came for a "post long-run" meal on a Sunday, must have arrived after the lunch crowd because the place was almost empty, and whenever I pass by here otherwise there's almost always folks waiting outside. ‍ Opted for bar seating, chatted with the bartender about the menu and settled for the grilled fish tacos. Didn't check the actual menu item, so I was quite surprised when they arrived with rice and beans. Ah well, I needed the calories and carbs for sure. The Matador in Redmond is one of my favorite locations. The space is bigger than the Ballard one, so it feels a lot more comfortable when it gets busy. It's a great spot for dinner with friends, group outings, or even just sitting at the bar for drinks. The atmosphere is always fun and lively without feeling too crowded. The food here is always really good, and the portion sizes are great. I almost always end up taking leftovers home, and a lot of the dishes are perfect for sharing. Their happy hour menu is also one of my favorites. Good prices, good portions, and it's nice whether you're going with a group or just stopping in for something small. They also have a really good bar with lots of drink options, and the margaritas are always solid. We decided to try this place, and it was a great choice! They have outdoor seating, but it's only available until sunset. We started with a watermelon drink , it was refreshing and really good. They also served complimentary nachos, which was a nice touch. For appetizers, we couldn't decide between the shrimp options, so we asked the staff for a recommendation. Since we wanted something spicy, they suggested the Haba Prawns, and they didn't disappoint! For the main course, we had the Enchiladas Divorciadas and the Habanero Enchiladas. Love this place for late night happy hour, they're open until midnight on Fridays and have a great happy hour menu that starts early with cheap eats around $6-7. Compared to RBG down the street that starts HH at 11PM. However, it is very difficult to accommodate any groups over four people. I will say seating is very limited and they often have a long waitlist so you have to go early, give them your phone number and they text you when the table is ready. We haven't been able to successfully accommodate a party larger than six people at a single table and often have to break the party into 3-4 tables or wait 30 to 40 minutes. Sometimes we have to wait 30 minutes for a table for four! They have a small parking lot right behind the restaurant that we often get parking at or could park on street or one of the other empty lots. That being said, compared to all the other late night happy hour options, matador definitely has the best bang for your buck and quality of food. We always get some variation of their $7 grande nachos with added meat on top for an additional $3.50. The portion sizes are massive and 3 to 4 people could easily share if not that hungry otherwise two people could easily just get full on sharing one plate. read more

We grabbed a few seats at a high top table by the bar and were quick to order our drinks as we were being mindful of the time.
