    Vegetarian sushi
    Devanshi B.

    * Vegetarian food review only * Our first experience at this place, and of trying sushi in Kirkland. It was very very good. Tried 2 different sushi. The quality is great, flavors are rich, and the sushi is well made. I wish there were more rolls. It was quite filling too! I definitely would like to come here again! Don't remember the names of the ones we tried but we tried the 2 most fancy vegan ones. Service- good [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance- very good[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Being a vegetarian you hardly find a few places that have veggie options for a sushi. But I love the sushi concept, so I always look for vegan/vegetarian sushi options around me. And I loved this one!

Seated quickly even though it was prime time: 6:30. Despite the pretty full restaurant service was swift. Ordered the omakase and some items off the special menu, including baked mussels and of course: Ikura, my son's favorite. Complementary edamame. Sushi actually melted in your mouth deliciously indicating the chefs took considerable care in preparing of each piece. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere was energetic but quite enough for us to hear each other talk and have a good conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tab came out to $88 for the two of us. Parking is free in a lot just outside the restaurant.

    Basic Chicken teriyaki dinner.

The chicken teriyaki is not the greatest. Small portion, small chicken pieces. It's not grilled either. This was $22, after 10% to go tip it's $24, no salad included. Just a cup of rice and small portion of chicken. For reference, this is about 20-30% higher than in cost compared to nearby teriyaki restaurants that are much better and larger portions. The Katsu chicken is pretty decent here though. Dark meat only FYI.

My go to spot on the east side! Both Kirkland and Redmond locations are great. Fish has always tasted fresh! My favorite roll is the fire starter roll. The sauce you dip it in is one of the best tasting things I've ever had. I seriously ask my husband if we can get takeout from here every week. I always get that with maybe a sea snake or deluxe dragon roll and their beef yaki udon. Service is super quick and efficient! They take your order promptly, drop food off quickly, buss and refill waters throughout the meal as well. I've never been disappointed with service or food here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is quaint and cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not that big and can get busy during dinner services but usually don't have that much of a problem getting seated right away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Service was bad!!! Food is ok. Service matters more. Not happy with the way they want us to leave fast after spending bunch of money. It was only 9:30. Very disappointing.

I dine in for lunch every once in a while and always come back for the salmon dinner (not on the lunch menu, but I order it every time). No frills restaurant serving up great rolls and even better sashimi! Service is always extremely attentive and you get complimentary edamame upon seating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Hole in the wall vibe but don't underestimate this spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We've been coming here on and off for a few years now. Perks: complimentary bowl of salted edamame upon being seated, the sunomono (cuke salad) is amazing, miso good, great service, fast service, rolls good! Wishes: we asked to start with the gyoza, but received after our rolls, udon forgettable (egg over cooked, chicken tasteless, floating cabbage in soup felt like lettuce) and [[HIGHLIGHT]]need to dust above sushi bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

I have lost count of how many times we have been to this place. We love this place and their speciality rolls. Our fav ones are Lion king roll and Mt St Helens. The ambiance might not be as great but who cares when you get great food :) The people here are super friendly. My 6yo loves this place. She does not like rice but is all ready to gulp down one full plate of California roll

Oto in Kirkland is a small place with tables and seats along a small sushi bar. It has a wide variety of items on their menu that include sushi, sashimi, and cooked dishes like fried rice, karaage, noodles, and other things. The Friday night we went it was about 3/4 full and had regular table turnover. They bring edamame (cold) to the table and miso came with our meals. Rolls are a very generous portion and the sushi was fresh tasting.

I haven't had rolls for a while and saw that this is highly recommended by some of my friends. As we had a car, we took that advantage to try this place out that is farther from downtown Seattle. We ordered 8 different rolls to share: 1) Fresh Godzilla Roll 2) Deluxe Dragon Roll 3) Lion King Roll 4) Caterpillar Roll 5) Cowboy Roll 6) Bootylicious Roll 7) Northwest Philly Roll 8) Dynamite Roll All of these were pretty good quality and are on par with a lot of rolls places I have tried. Particularly, I greatly enjoyed the lion king and dynamite rolls as I tend to like baked rolls due to the flavor. Cowboy roll is a nice change in scenery from seafood to meat. The pricing of the rolls are a bit strange, though. Northwest Philly roll is well priced while some of these, for $15.95, have only 6-8 pieces only so it can get pricey real quick. While the food is pretty glod, there isn't anything standout that I would make a journey back, especially with the price point. We were not full and we spent about $30 per person.

I was craving sushi today and found this place on Yelp. I called in my order and was told my order would be ready in 35 - 40. I was less than 10 mins away and decided to just drive and wait in my car. I didn't have to wait long, my order was ready in about 20 mins and I got a message letting me know my order was ready. I got a Fire Starter roll, and a Spicy Salmon roll. The rolls were good. I will be back to try some of their other rolls.

Absolutely always love coming to Oto when i'm having a sushi craving! The people are always nice, the quality of fish as well as speed of service is always very good! I feel like for the portion size and price it's perfect! 10/10 always recommend this place :) Also if you're dining in they always give a complementary bowl of edamame.

This Juanita sushi restaurant serves up very good rolls, nigiri and other Japanese specialties. Their service is friendly and efficient. They also offer a well priced and extensive daily happy hour, which are almost impossible to find on the Eastside sushi scene! Highly recommend!

It's been a few years since we last dined here. It's one of our go-to restaurants whenever we visit Seattle. Over the years, the menu has changed and so have the prices! I noted the higher menu prices but I wasn't surprised since the economy has been unstable lately. We were a family of four dining and our server graciously took group photos of us before and after the meal. What a cute gesture to offer to take after meal photos. hahaha! I think our smiles were bigger then. The fresh seafood, friendly and efficient service, and tasty Japanese food makes this still my go-to Japanese restaurant. I recommend this place.

I'm placing this as one of my new favorite sushi spots on the Eastside! Four of us came for an early dinner around 4:30P on a Saturday and got seating right away in a booth. The restaurant is on the smaller end with just a few tables on each side and a few seats at the sushi bar. In addition to an appetizer, two of us shared three specialty sushi rolls and the other two in our group ordered the chicken katsu meal set. Our sushi arrived beautifully all on one plate. Each specialty roll included 10 pieces and they all contained a generous amount of filling with a relatively thin rice layer, making the average price of $18 - $19 per roll worth the value. + TAKOYAKI ($7.50): These deep-fried dumplings had a soft creamy interior and housed a small piece of tender octopus. Four pieces came in an order, topped with mayo, unagi sauce and bonito flakes. I loved the crispy exterior and they were served steaming hot. I am not sure they were made in-house or frozen, but they were delicious. + KOUSHI ROLL ($17.99): A crab, avocado and cucumber roll topped with cajun seared salmon, spicy mayo, unagi sauce, green onion and fish roe. Between the crab filling and spicy mayo, this is a pretty creamy roll. The salmon on top had a very light sear, so while the smoky flavor was noticeable, I considered it closer to raw. The unagi sauce added some sweetness that offset the mild spice. + NAGOYA ROLL ($18.99): Tuna avocado roll topped with salmon, ponzu sauce, sweet sesame sauce, green onion and fish roe. The freshness of the fish especially shined here between the large cubes of tuna inside and the meaty slice of raw salmon on top. The sauce simply enhanced the roll without taking over the flavor, so it didn't distract from the purity of the ingredients. + SETO ROLL ($18.99): Spicy tuna and cucumber inside topped with tuna, ponzu sauce and green onion. This roll is HOT, like at least 3/5 stars on the spice scale! As spicy as it was, I really enjoyed it, especially since half the roll was topped with medium fatty tuna which was such a nice treat. Lean tuna draped over the other half. Chopped green onion on top added pops of freshness. The chicken katsu meal ($16.99) came with salad, rice and miso soup. I tried one piece of the chicken which was tender and had an excellent light crunch! Service was great as the two employees managing the dining room checked back a couple times and were actively watching in case any of the tables needed anything. I know I'll be back again for more sushi!

It came out pretty quickly and it was all good. The portions are great. Not too much and not too little. The Ramen were really good and they hit the spot. They had nice pieces of pork and we added the soft boiled egg which was cooked perfectly. The Takoyaki had a nice sized piece of octopus in them. A lot of the takoyaki I have had at other places use tiny pieces of octopus which is disappointing. Here it was a nice piece of octopus which made it really good. The noodles held up really well. Good thickness and had that good chewy bounciness to it too. I would say the broth met expectations - rich flavors that may be a bit too salty for the unaware. I didn't see any offer to top off the dipping broth with daishi broth (soup-wari). Not a deal breaker though! The chicken kaarages were a little disappointing because they didn't lock down the texture. It was crispy for some part and kinda soft for others. I love Japanese curry, and was so stoked to see such a unique curry on the menu (made with dark chocolate so it gives a richer flavor). $5 more to add shredded cabbage and miso soup; I definitely think this is worth it because there's no other fresh greens in the entree. It helps cut the heavy, fried-ness of the katsu and provides a different texture. My shrimp (ebi) katsu curry was so flaky and crispy, which is so hard to find at katsu shops where the breading is cakey and falls off the protein. However, the shrimp to flakes ratio was off and I could hardly taste the shrimp or know when I bit shrimp versus the flakes because there was so much breading. This wasn't a problem for the pork katsu, though! The portion size is massive; half the plate is rice, and the other half is the curry. For $29 for the shrimp katsu ($34 total pre tax and tip after adding the shredded cabbage and miso soup combo), I think it's worth the price if you're starving or sharing. I think it'd be cool if they did a protein combo where you pick two proteins, especially because they have a variety of pork options. This would help people justify their cost while tasting more of the menu with less overwhelming commitment. Servers are kind and attentive, and they don't rush you when you order or need more time. The interior is beautiful and well-lit with bar seating, tables and booths, and high top tables too. I'd come again if I wanted to share a katsu entree with a friend!

He's a big reason that we had such a wonderful first experience at Noii and I sincerely hope Management takes notice and promotes this guy to become a manager because he clearly is so passionate about his job, cares about the customers he serves and so knowledgeable about the food! That's something very refreshing to see in the service industry. The lunch bento set was wonderful - the sushi upgrade was definitely worth it too IMO, because I'm a huge aburi toro fan. Everything from the beef croquette to the salad with crispy fish skin and ikura was delicious. The food presentation/plating was 10/10 and it was a feast for the eyes too. Even the grilled chicken rice bowl with the onsen egg was so yummy. We also loved the yuzu mixed drinks as well. The birthday dessert with a yuzu jelly topped with meringue and edible flowers added the perfect finishing touch to our meal. The ambience, food and service were all a home run for me. That says a lot because VERY few restaurants are able to achieve the perfect trifecta of all 3. Hopefully they will keep these high standards up!
