The good- Responsive, professional, nice techs. Spent a lot of time trying to fix our problem. Sent out senior tech and supervisor. The problem- They should not be touching Daikin systems. They don't like them and they aren't trained properly on how to fix them. After three weeks and at least 15 hours trying to fix unit they said it was the compressor ($3k). We decided to get a second opinion while waiting on said compressor and found a company that installs and fixes this brand. They said it was not the compressor and that the first thing they should've done is noticed the thermostat, which is the "brain" of these systems hadn't been updated in 3 years. I'm giving two stars for effort. I also take some responsibly for hiring them in the first place. I did not understanding the complexity of the Ac unit in the house I bought and did not realize I had to update it, etc. If you have a simple problem on a brand they install try them out. Also, do not buy a Daikin. read more

I spent over $14,000 on a new HVAC system after choosing Thomas & Galbraith's more expensive comfort-focused option because I was told it would provide better comfort throughout my home. Unfortunately, that never happened. The company was back within hours of the installation, and over the next year I had numerous service calls. What frustrated me the most was that almost every visit resulted in a different explanation for the same problem. I heard everything from airflow adjustments, insulation, blocked returns, and duct modifications to eventually being told my home was never designed to properly cool the second floor and that I would need a $33,000 mini-split system to get the comfort I thought I was paying for. My biggest disappointment is not that my home has ductwork limitations. My disappointment is that I was never given enough information to make an informed decision before spending over $14,000. If someone had explained that the existing ductwork could prevent this system from cooling my second floor the way it was presented during the sales process, or that I might eventually need a separate system, I would have made a different decision. Today, while I am still making monthly payments on the HVAC system they sold me, I continue to experience temperature differences of 15 to 20 degrees between my downstairs and upstairs. Many days I have to make my downstairs uncomfortably cold just to get the upstairs to a somewhat tolerable temperature. I appreciate that some of the technicians genuinely tried to help, but the overall experience was inconsistent. After nearly a year of service calls, I was ultimately told the system was operating as designed and that there was nothing more they could do. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. read more

I bought an HVAC unit from T & G 9 years ago and they come out twice a year to do regular maintenance. This year they had to relevel the platform for the condenser, but otherwise there have been no issues with any of the equipment. It works beautifully. Every technician I have met has always been friendly, competent and efficient. I will definitely purchase my next HVAC from them when needed. read more

Thomas Galbraith recommended almost two thousand dollars of unnecessary air conditioner repairs

2 stars only because the rep that came out was friendly and cordial. I'll give him that. We have a 35 year old cast iron boiler that went out in our house recently and, like all homeowners, started calling around. Had a first company come with an extremely high estimate, so we decided to try Thomas and Galbraith. After talking to the sales tech he said they could replace our boiler with something similar (cast iron). Got a text a few hours later with a price of 21 THOUSAND dollars. This was just for a boiler replacement and a thermostat. Nothing else. Needless to say, we were a bit shocked and overwhelmed. I put out a post on Facebook asking if I was crazy to think this price was absurd and immediately got messages from folks recommending local HVAC certified people. 2 days later, I got a very reputable and knowledgeable guy that I knew who will put in a Weil McClain boiler (a better brand than Thomas and Galbraith offered) at cost of the equipment x2. This will end up being in the ballpark of 8,000 dollars. The funny thing is, the sales rep texted my wife a few days later and said the price of the boiler they were going to install magically went down in price $2000. Sure. It's obviously a ploy to try to get us hooked back in. Stay AWAY from these giant corporate places and do some research. Ask around and get someone you know or someone that your friends may know. The difference between 8,000$ and 21,000$ is absurd. Especially knowing we are about to get an even better boiler in the process. Those "warranties" and tech support they offer do not make up for that exorbitant mark up rip off. read more

RIP OFF- WHY can't we place NEGATIVE STAR Reviews? Placed a HVAC service call. The GOOD: technician was able to diagnose minor problem quickly & very polite. He provided an instant quote with cellular tablet. I almost got SUCKED IN. Biggest RIP OFF ATTEMPT IN MY LIFE! They prey upon consumers not having a clue of costs. Quoted one electrical part @ $416 and I was ready to pay for it. (I had no clue what this special part was worth) and he said Two Seventy Five for the FUSE! I thought he meant $2.75 TWO DOLLARS AND SEVENTY FIVE CENTS, NO. HE WAS GOING TO CHARGE me $691 Total. I said, I thought you told me it was $400 and something for the part, Plus the fuse. He said yes the FUSE IS $275.00! I said, No Way a fuse can be two hundred and seventy five dollars! He showed me the on-line screen and said he can't change the cost of any part. I said lets call your boss. "Boss can't change any prices." I said your fired as a company and get out. I paid $98 trip fee. Now I did my research, I took a picture of the model# of my AC compressor and what part was bad. I looked up online. The converter was available at Home Depot for $13.48 and fuse (if you bought 2 at HD) is $4.13 each or online they are $0.39 each or bag of 100 = $0.20 EACH! T&G COST = $13.68!! Their price is $691! That is a 5,052% mark up. Drug Dealers don't make that much. Have they no shame? Preying upon ignorant consumers whose AC or Heat doesn't work, Most won't even argue. I would have never known, if it wasn't for the fuse. I sell parts in my business, I understand there needs to be a substantial mark-up. But NOWHERE NEAR 5,000 %. such a rip off! read more

I really appreciated the service that I received. I had this company install a furnace for me about a year ago. I had an issue with my AC unit that it would not kick on. I had my thermostat replaced also in this process the team came out was able to find the issue was able to repair it in a timely manner and made sure that they took the time to explain to me exactly what they were doing. I found the repairs are very cost-effective compared to other companies and found a lot of value not only in their technicians knowledge of the issue that I was experiencing, but how well he was able to explain it to me in terms that I can understand they took the time to show me exactly what the issue was so I could understand what they were doing. I don't think I will be calling any other companies. They really went above and beyond for me. read more

We have used Thomas & Galbraith for many years for plumbing problems. A young man came out yesterday with an auger that didn't work well, ran it one time and then said 'how about we send someone with a camera back tomorrow and they will auger it for you as well. We agreed to this. This morning we get a call from someone at Thomas & Galbraith saying they were NOT going to honor the deal we had made with the tech yesterday and were going to be charged full price of $287 as well as $1065 to power wash the line with no guarantee it would work! We use them once or twice a year and they weren't going to honor their advertised price. Their ad does NOT say limited visits! SO DISAPPOINTING!!!! Needless to say, we switched companies; not because of the increase in price but because of the sudden change in policy. read more

On Monday, December 29, 2025, I awoke and my heater was not working. I have a gas furnace and it can be a bit temperamental. I called the support line a little after 7 am and talked with an AI representative. I gave the information requested and a service visit was made for the same day. Unfortunately, the scheduled visit was between 12 pm and 2 pm so I had to call in to miss a day of work. The representative came a few minutes earlier than expected. He worked on the furnace, charged me $186, and then left. The fan was running now so I expected the house to start heating up soon. However, I was bitterly disappointed. When I awoke the next morning, the house was colder than the day before. The furnace was circulating air, but there was no heat and the house was colder than the previous morning. I called again and explained the situation. They made another service call, but was again for later in the day, and I had to call in to miss work a second day in a row. The good news is that the second technician that came out was a senior technician and knew his stuff. He also arrived about an hour and a half earlier than expected and I was glad to see him when he arrived. He got the furnace to work and the house was starting to heat up before he left. He explained exactly what the problem was and what he did to correct it. Since the last visit, the furnace has worked great and I have seen no further problems. Had I had the senior technician on the first visit, this review would have been a five-start review instead of three. T&G has some great technicians, but you do not get them unless the first visit is a bust. I would be a lot happier if they sent the senior technicians on the first trip to work on my finnicky furnace. I have not yet had a regular tech work on my furnace and fix the problem on the first visit. However, when the senior tech comes out, the problem always gets fixed. read more

Zero stars if that were an option!!! They came and charged $98 to visit and provide a quote (fine). They said that they would need 2 guys and to rent a 16 ft ladder (fine). Accepted contract for $1030 where 1st line stated that they would take down my chandelier, secure it in the attic if needed, and to reinstall it. Guy said that would be the very max and that if it could be tightened under the canopy and quicker then likely $600. They came said that the ladder they brought (and charged me $400 to rent) was not enough and needed scaffolding (their error not mine, but charged me for mistake). Said it is 200 lb but under 100lbs and a standard builder grade light. They put the canopy back and then went into attic said the support there needed to be bolted. They started and then I heard cracking noises, the dry wall started cracking from below and the base attaching the chandelier to the 20 ft high ceiling dropped an inch. Yelled for them to stop since the light looked like it was going to fall since what they did made it worse vs better. One guy went up on ladder and inspected and told other to stop and that it was in the process of falling and only now being held up by the aircraft wire. They said it needed to come down (fine since it was included in contract that I agreed to included in the $1030). They took it down and went to pack up leaving me with a hole in my ceiling, a chandelier on the floor, and a $1030 bill that they made me pay. They then gave me another quote for $1720 on top of the 1030 I just paid to finish the job that was supposed to be covered in the original contract ie strengthening the structure in the attic, and reinstalling the same chandelier (see quote attachments). So essentially they charged me almost $1128 to make the situation worse than it was to begin with thus necessitating them to remove the chandelier. They then tried to charge me almost 3x the price contracted for once my chandelier was on the floor. Called manager on Friday and still have not heard back several days later. This is a bait and switch company. Beware!!! read more

Gary came to our house at 5pm and claimed our furnace was "obviously real old" and "had not been in working order for years." We used it 2 weeks ago. It was installed in 2014. He then tried to tell us the problem was there is no thermostat wired in. We had to point out the thermostat wires to him. He then decided the control board was bad and claimed "I can replace it for 2k but theres no guarantee it'll work. You should just replace it". For this, they charged me $98. I completely regret calling them out. I'm mortified by the unprofessional, lazy technician they sent us. I will never call them again. Our neighbors recommended this company. We are telling them what happened. Im sure they wont recommend again. They obviously just want to collect inspection fees and leave and they have inexperienced people in the field doing their collecting. Do not call them. read more

These Guys Took over Service Pros that had installed my Trane Furnace the Previous Year. They are really awful. Ot of the 3 times I had them do a semiannual service to keep my warranty. They always left something unplugged and had to call them back. The last time they left the condensate line unplugged and my carpet got soaked. I won't let them in my house. read more

We were very disappointed with Thomas & Galbraith. We're giving 2 stars, but only because the serviceman was both friendly and was able to diagnose the problem with our gas furnace (a faulty gas valve). Unfortunately, he did not have the replacement part, and since it was Saturday morning, he said it was not possible to get the part before Monday. It was a very cold weekend, and since we didn't feel we could manage to wait 2 more days without heat, we decided to pay the $145 service fee to NOT fix it, and call another company. The other company (Deer) was able to come out within 2 hours and fix the furnace. He did indicate that the part (the gas valve) was rather common, and he was surprised that the Thomas & Galbraith technician did not have it on his company vehicle. Side note: the quote from Thomas & Galbraith for the repair job was $987. The repair bill from Deer was $573. read more

Had a small nick in the Freon line that the Freon leaked out. Line needed repair and Freon added. Tech from here told us it was an easy fix the line that would cost $3500 and then $1200 for Freon. Was a total scam to get us to buy a new unit because he offered for sales guy to come out. We had to pay $145 fee for him to come out to try to scam us. read more

Do not use their service. I employed them to clean my dryer vent. When they arrived they said they couldn't do it because my units were stacked. I got an estimate to install a sink and faucet. They didn't tell me I had the wrong size sink after looking at the job. There price was $1,000 high than the person I hired to do the job once I got the right size sink. I signed up for their annual membership to be a preferred customer for $250 a year. I was told this was for discounts on all there services. The plumbing estimates included a $300 discount for being a member. When I call to cancel the membership I was told it was for heating and cooling only and not refundable. Do business with this company at your peril. I regret doing business with them. read more

I would not recommend Thomas and Galbraith. They will upsell you with services and systems that are not required. I had them out to fix the backup pump in our basement sump system. The check valve was obviously faulty because when the primary pump kicked on, water also came out of the backup pump's intake. Instead of just replacing the check valve, cleaning the gravel out of the pit and removing debris from the backup pump, they recommended replacing the entire system for $2400. I reluctantly agreed, but asked him to leave all the old parts. Once the job was complete, I examined the old system. I found debris in the check value, once removed the entire old system worked perfectly. So what could have been approximately $200 repair ($100 service call + $100 to clear debris), turned into a $2400 new system. read more

I have mixed feelings about writing this review because I have used Thomas and Galbraith on another project a few years ago and I was very satisfied and wrote a positive review. But I feel so taken advantaged of that I plan to post this review wherever I can. Because of how they handled my previous problem I didn't hesitate to call them again. We had some flooding in part of our basement last year so I called Thomas and Galbraith and asked if someone could come out and correct the problem. They promptly responded and sent a young man out to check our problem. When he arrived, I explained that my wife has Alzheimer's and from time to time I be taking care of her. He inspected the flooded area and immedicably he told me he "does not to cleanups." I told him that if he could stop the flooding I will cleanup the water using my WetVac and towels. He came to me and explained that the sewer was clogged and needed to be opened (and had me sign for that) and that the bill would be about $250 and the warranty would be for one year. While I was preparing lunch for my wife he came back up to me again to have me sign for him to install plastic pipes that were a bit larger than the ones already installed because he said the current pipes were inadequate. That increased the bill to $432.00. Being in my late 70's and on a fixed income it seemed like a lot of money to me, but apparently, I did not have a choice. Fortunately. I took pictures to provide to my insurance company. About 3-4 months later the basement flooded again. I decided to call another company and asked them to come out. Within 5 minutes the representative pointed out to me where the water was coming from and he fixed the problem with a very simple solution. Once again, I took pictures because I planned to write to Thomas and Galbraith, which I did. I explained my dissatisfaction and told them ai was planning to write a review. There was not much of a response. If I could give Thomas and Galbraith less than a single star, I would. I have to admit, it seemed like this young man was working very hard to increase the amount of what the final bill would be, but he had no idea how to correct the situation, and he didn't. The flooding had nothing to do with a clogged drain, or the size of the pipes leading to the drain. Pure incompetence. read more

He spent around two hours and gave me some verbal estimates for all three products. He said he would send me an estimate by email. So far that has NOT happened. I am often asked if I would recommend Thomas and Galbraith. No, is my answer.. The new heating and cooling systems were guaranteed to hit all parts of the home and did not. They addressed the problem blaming my home for the system failure. Those concerns were never added as the put on the systems and had first hand view of the home and should have used their hours of training to identify and then discuss with me the situation. Did not happen during installation and I paid in full. As heating and cooling were not adequate, that's when my home was to blame. read more

I had them come out to unclog my kitchen sink on 9/24/24. The drain technician showed me a photo of the clog. He said he wouldn't be able to snake it because the pipe was old and the clog was solid. He indicated that the pipe would have to be cut and replaced to dislodge the clog. In order to assess it further, a sewer supervisor would have to come out and take photos. On 9/27/24, the sewer supervisor came to take photos. She observed the pipes in my basement and garage. She indicated that part of my wall would have to be torn out to get to the pipe. Then came the big whopper. She said my garage ceiling looked like it contained asbestos and that they wouldn't be able to touch anything until a restoration company could view the photos and see whether they thought it was asbestos. She indicated this would cost thousands of dollars if it was determined that it contained asbestos. She would let me know what they advise. A couple of days later, someone from T&G called to see if I was happy with the service the sewer supervisor provided. I said it was fine and that I was waiting on her for the next move. To this day (10/10), the sewer supervisor has not contacted me. I found that very odd, as being in sales myself, I know to follow up within a couple of days. I went over 2 weeks without a usable kitchen sink, because of the clog. On 10/9, I had an independent plumber come out to assess the situation. After 40 minutes, he dislodged the clog after snaking the pipe. There was no cutting of the pipe and no tearing out any wall or ceiling. It cost me $99. Buyer beware. Always get a second, or even third opinion from another company. I will never use T&G again. read more

Too bad I cant give negative stars. We paid for a membership to this company and on the very first visit they sent out a technician who was new to the field but has all the required training. Now I have an AC that doesn't work and they are sticking me will an expensive invoice to repair it. The manager refuses to return our call. The technician has spent 4 hours at our home conducting a "routine" AC unit check. My AC unit worked fine this morning before he touched it. The technician Gavin does not seem to be trained and this company doesn't take ownership of their mistake. Nice first impression. Now I have to have another company come out to fix it. Thomas & Galbraith will NEVER be allowed in my home again. I am a military vet and one of the most important things in life is integrity and this company has none. I am updating my review to 5 stars. T&G has amazing customer service and sent help over immediately to help diagnose the problem. They helped me create a plan for how to fix/how long before I need to fix my flooring. This gives me great peace of mind as my ptsd makes large home improvement projects extremely stressful. RUN!! TERRIBLE SERVICE! If 0 stars was possible I'd give it, but I'll have to settle for 1. We will be reporting them to the BBB. We had to get another company to fix because Thomas and Galbraith never fixed the issue. They stole about 5k from us and never kept their word to call us back nor fix the issue. A month ago, we noticed our AC was not working, the line from outside to the house was frozen, and there was liquid on the floor inside, so we called to get it looked at and fixed. The first technician came to take a look at it, and stated that the issue was a leaking coil on the internal unit, and stated that replacing the indoor coil would be a guaranteed fix.  We were told it would be a 4-6 hour job, and the job took 8 hours with 2 techs working. During that time, they were informed that everyone in the home worked from home, taking phone calls, and during the repairs the two began using a brazier, filling the basement with smoke and setting off both the smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detectors. Instead of informing us that this was expected, the technicians left the home and walked to their truck, leaving us to panic. When we attempted to ask for more communication during the process, the technicians slammed our door in our faces, stating they "didn't hear us" talking to them, despite only being a few feet away. After they finished, they charged us $5k and went on their way, and the AC worked for a few days, before the exact same problem presented itself; so we called back to have them come fix it again, requesting to speak to a supervisor. We were contacted by Rod, the manager, and were told that if anything was wrong with the AC system, they would fix it free of charge, as long as nothing outside the AC system caused the problem, such as the foundation shifting. Once they sent out the Technician Supervisor, Caleb, he told us the exact opposite, stating Rob had told him that if it was anything they had touched in the repair, it would be paid for, but otherwise we would be charged for it. When we asked to have Rob called in order to clear up any miscommunication, Caleb stated that it wasn't necessary and refused to call. He spent the next 4 hours checking for why the same issue was presenting itself, eventually concluding that the previous technicians had not put enough refrigerant into the system, and that was why the AC was icing up and there was liquid on the floor. Caleb added more refrigerant to the system, and the AC began to work again for a few more days. Just as a precaution, we had them send someone out to quote us on replacing the entire AC system, and we were told that they could give us $4k off for work already done and it would cost $12k after the discount. We thanked them and, thinking the system had been fixed, went about our lives, before the EXACT same issue began to present itself again. We called back and had them send someone else out to look it over, and when the day rolled around, the technician, Caleb, called and stated that, because he had already looked at it, there was no point in him coming out as he had other calls to take care of. We were treated as a waste of time, despite the fact that we had NO AC and it was over 90 degrees. We were scheduled for the next day at 1pm, which got shifted to 2pm with no explanation. The technician arrived at 1:45pm and stayed in his truck until 2pm before looking at our system. After another 1.5 hours of looking, the technician stated that there was ACTUALLY a leak in one of the coils on the OUTSIDE unit, and when asked if that was something that the other techs should have caught, the technician said that they had "better equipment, but it was possible it was missed." before being told it would be ANOTHER $5k to fix the issue. Upon mentioning that we were advised wrong and were already charged $5k to fix the issue, the technician shrugged, stating they could try to have a supervisor call us, but it could take up to 2 days to hear from them, during the hottest week of the summer. If this is how members are treated, i can't imagine how poorly they treat non-members.  NEVER choose these CROOKS, they will lie to you, take your money, do a terrible repair job, and when they don't fix the problem, they will charge more to fix THEIR mistakes read more

Questionable.... Spent thousands of dollars to have my AC replaced after being told it was "completely shot"...figured they did an OK job...until the Blower Motor went out and was "completely shot" for a cost of $1,626.00.... Then the new system completely froze up, tech came out got it working again. When the weather finally got cold enough to turn on my heat... nothing... T&G came out quoted me $1,514.00 to replace an Inducer Motor Assembly that was "completely shot". Decided to get a second opinion, apparently a capacitor had been disconnected and reconnecting it solved the entire problem..... not sure what led to this oversight but would not take their word at face value and would certainly get a second opinion before investing any money. read more

Similar stories like others who got a overcharged quote from this company, and payed a service fee without anything got done. I was lucky to have my water line issue solved by costing $0 through the City instead of $12,000 through Thomas & Galbraith. Even I have to pay by myself, the cost will be around $3000 - $4000 because there is a easier and more advanced route to got the problem fixed. Seems like this company does their business through lying by omissions and exaggerations, which is unbelievable considering the resources and information people can get from different sources. I'm so glad reviews for this company truly reflect it's quality of service. Plumber is a respectful professional as people have to rely on their professional skills and opinions to choose what to do for their homes. In June I scheduled an appointment with Thomas & Galbraith because my kitchen faucet started dripping from the handle. The schedulers were kind and competent. Technician Don Lavoie arrived onsite when my wife was home, and she recounted how disrespected, down-talked, and upsold she felt. In addition to the $98 dispatch fee (which I understand), Don generated 7 quotes for us. 6 of the quotes were between $5935 and $7920. The cheapest was $752. She sent him away with only the dispatch fee paid. Here's the kicker (thanks to my father-in-law): My kitchen faucet is covered by Kohler's manufacturer warranty for free cartridge replacements. I did that instead, and it cost me $0 and 5 minutes of my labor. Shame on Thomas & Galbraith for not even telling me this was an option. I'm sure Thomas & Galbraith do great work ... but I've got to question if this would have gone differently if I were the one home instead of my wife. Recommend avoiding. EDIT: Kudos to T&G for responding to this review. However, sad that Tina didn't address how none of Don's 7 quotes were for the simplest fix: A cartridge replacement. read more
