I wish I could rate this higher and have waited to post to let our grief subside. We brought our senior cat into Thomas Vet after he started having some weight loss, significant hair loss and behavior changes (lost weight to be noticeable and started sleeping in weird spots - kitchen table, entryway table) and would just stop and stare off into the distance. We were new patients as we hadn't established care here locally and took to Facebook to ask for recommendations. We saw a handful of pet parents recommend Dr. Thomas specifically. I called the clinic and was advised that dr. Thomas was not taking on new patients but his associate was. I asked before scheduling if they were well versed in treating cats and I was assured that they were. When we brought Lukas in, we were greeted by the friendly staff, which is why I gave one star by default. The vet tech was kind. The Vetinarian came in and gave him a quick look over and suggested we run bloodwork to see if anything was out of the ordinary for his weight loss but also mentioned that we should have his teeth cleaned to the tune of $840-$940 which may alleviate him not wanting to eat. We left with no answers and no advice to follow up if he worsened or declined. We only were told his blood work was only valid for 30 DAYS and if we did move forward with dental work after 30 days, we'd have to redraw labs ($330). Well, it wouldn't have mattered because within 30 days, my cat declined significantly and we asked our local neighbors who they trusted and were directed to West Davis. The doctor there was more thorough and we were given steroids and antibiotics due to the fever my cat had and hair loss to be treated as a skin and GI infection based on the re-drawn blood results. After he still wasn't improving, we ran blood a week later and since he's WBC was high but his RBC was low, it was assumed that it was a cancer. Our vet advised us to not spend thousands on unnecessary diagnostic testing but to make him comfortable. 27 days after visiting Thomas Vet clinic, my husband and I had to put down our boy due to how fast he declined. If Thomas Vet had offered more solutions, we may have been able to make him more comfortable before choosing a different vet because I had NO confidence in Thomas Vet. This office was more focused on an unnecessary dental procedure that my cat most likely wouldn't not have come out of anesthesia than actually diagnosing what was wrong. We were told he was fine and he wasn't. I can't speak for Dr. Thomas.. he may be wonderful and maybe we would've had a different experience but I would never recommend this clinic after the pushing for dental work instead of following up on what was actually wrong. I have been bringing my Blue heeler to them for a few years now. She has natural breed stranger danger and they always take the extra time to make her feel comfortable. The pricing is low and fair compared to other vets that charge double for the same services. I have been recommending them to many others looking for a good vet in the area. read more

Was told about Dr Thomas's Animal Clinic back in 2018 or 2019 (hey its been a bit and I've slept since then lol) when I called our PetPaws animal clinic wanting to get a stray tom seen because he had a bad upper respiratory infection. We had used PetPaws in the past, but they didn't have anything available for a week, they suggested Dr Thomas so I called them. They couldn't get me in that day but were able to get me in that week. First impression upon walking in was, "Wow what a calm, relaxed environment for a vet clinic!" Second impression, "the staff is really nice and obviously love their job and Dr Thomas himself for a tall guy kinda built a bit like a linebacker lol; was very soft spoken and the way he handled our Garfield was as if he were handling his own pet. I was sold on him and the clinic being our new vet! Since then, he has worked wonders with our pets. Saved the life of on of our sweet rescues, Salem who had sever kidney disease. With doing saline hydration infusions plus finding a kidney diet he liked, he went from a kitty loosing his fur and struggling to stay hydrated to a kitty who's kidneys started to function again. When I brought my dog in who had fear aggression, this man got down On the floor and proceeded to slowly and gently examine her from back to front all the while talking softly to her and telling her he was going to touch her. I had her teathered to the lift table to help reassure her and though she did grumble slightly when he got near her head, she allowed him to do his thing. Since that first visit she has started to relax more round him and his staff and has started accepting treats from them. But, our biggest test for him was our senior cat who was still partially on the feral side with strangers. He is the only member who will work with her because she tends to be a bit of a "P.I.T.A." Lol and she doesn't really know what to make of him. Started out rough but the more she sees him the less she has acted up. Think it's because she's finally figuring out that a visit to see Dr Thomas, though it means a shot, it also means pain relief too. Lol Squirt's a bit crazy but not stupid. Plus, he saved her life too after we got her latest bloodwork and discovered she had a double whammy, Diabetes And Kidney failure. We thought we would need to say good bye but after an infusion, antibiotic cause she had a UTI due to the diabetes and getting creative with mixing the kidney disease food plus diabetic food, she went from being almost on deaths door to gaining her weight back and acting like her old self. Granted we aren't delusional, her time with us is questionable but she's almost 15 yrs old and had a rough life prior to showing up on our deck with her newborn 12 years ago. It's more than she'd have had had she lived outside and we not have spotted her and her daughter. Anyway what I am saying is, be your pet friendly, lovable and adorable; a Stray you just rescued, a spicy old senior cat who'd been partially feral when ya rescued her; or a dog with Fear Aggression, you can Never go wrong taking them to Dr Thomas! He has this way about him that the animals know he is there to help them. read more

My first office visit went well and then it went downhill quickly after that. I originally took my dog to see Dr Thomas after an emergency vet referred us to him for our shar pei puppy and her newly diagnosed auto immune disease. At the first office visit, he was great, took the time to explain her symptoms and what we were up against and a treatment plan was put in place for her recurring fevers and ear infections. A few months went by, her health was doing great and we were managing her well at home. It was time to schedule her spay surgery, so I called for pricing and detailed information on the process and this is where it went to hell in a hand basket. The woman who answered the phone, was an absolute nightmare to deal with. I first asked for pricing and information on the spay surgery, assuming I would need to make an apt with Dr Thomas to do pre-surgery bloodwork and double check she was healthy enough for the surgery. I was told that was not needed and they would do the bloodwork the morning of the surgery (first red flag). Next, I asked if they had a thiomersol free rabies vaccine as my dog would need this type for her auto immune disease and to be current for the surgery, as the vet was requesting of me. The lady's tone changed and she refused to order the vaccine or check with the doctor about what ingredients were in it. (Red flag). I was told the vaccines didn't come with package inserts and if I didn't trust what the vet was giving my dog I should go elsewhere. (To have full informed consent as a human or dog patient, a doctor/vet must provide ingredients/side effects of the drug being administered.) For anyone who has received a prescription at a pharmacy, the medication ALWAYS comes with a package insert with this information on it. Dr Thomas and the front desk receptionist both lied and said it didn't come with the medication and they couldn't provide it to me and I should just "trust them". The phone call continued with the receptionist bullying me and yelling at me, to which the vet (Dr Thomas) all of the sudden started talking in the background to which I asked if I was on speaker phone and to whom I was talking to. I had a continued conversation with Dr Thomas on the phone to try to de-escalate both of their behaviors and get the information I needed for my dog. Moving forward, the trust has been broken, I no longer feel safe going here and don't think they have my dogs best interest at heart. I am appalled by the way I was treated. The receptionist deserves to be fired over this. If this is the way Dr Thomas trains and allows his employees to speak to patients, you should run from this place. Do better. read more

I am in LOVE with their vet team from the reception desk, to their techs, to doctors!!!. This place is seriously a GEM and I cannot speak HIGHLY enough about how AMAZING they are! If you're looking for a safe and trustworthy place to take your pets and feel confident that they're getting the best love and care available - this is your place. And they are affordable and fair priced as well! My dogs are very active in advertisement, promotion, ambassador, affiliate, and collaboration programs on their large social media/influencer accounts. The Drs need to show on time for their appointments. They did this to my mom as well and she found another vet. Time to do the same, one that can respect their clients' time. Maybe I should send them an invoice for my gas and time that I bill to clients. read more

Staff needs to be responsible and return calls when they state they will call back. I needed to pick up medications for my dog so I asked that they call me back to let me know I could pick up medications. The staff member stated they would call back and let me know the prices and that it was okay to come pick the medication today. Never received a call. I called the clinic back to ask why I have not received a call back to inform me of the cost and that I could pick the medications up today. When I asked why I have not received a call back I was told they didn't know. Unacceptable response!!! I need a new Vet now! read more

Dr. Thomas and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and kind. I have known Dr. Thomas for years and there is no one I trust more with my pups. I happily drive ~40 minutes to the clinic knowing the level of care and service my dogs will receive.
