We did take him to the night Emergency Clinic where he was diagnosed with severe arthritis in all major joints. West Davis made it a point to fit Sam in first thing the next morning. The Vets & staff at West Davis always make it a priority to insure that comfort & care is the best. Sam is happy and living his best life again (on meds... but they aren't hampering him in any way). When we discovered that our nine-year-old spaniel was bleeding from her mouth, we monitored her for an hour or so to see if it subsided. After all, it was a Sunday and our regular vet wasn't open. When the bleeding continued, with it occasionally being pretty significant, I jumped on my vet's website to see what emergency clinics they recommend. Emergency Pet Care of Texas was one of two listed, and since I'd had an extremely negative experience with the one that is actually closer to me, I made the nearly 40-minute drive up to Magnolia to have her checked out. Sign in was smooth and not overly detailed (not asking a lot of what I deem as unnecessary questions). Wait time was minimal. Tech tended to her relatively quickly, and by this time much of the bleeding had subsided greatly. Still wanted her to see a vet, which she did shortly. Vet was thorough and didn't recommend any additional testing or examination because by the time she saw the vet, all bleeding had stopped. If it had not, it would have indicated something more severe: rat poison or sago palm ingestion, for example. But since that did not appear to be the case, we were instructed to watch her, keep her quiet with minimal exercise and see our regular vet the next day when they were open if the bleeding began again. I appreciate that EPCT was not overly aggressive in trying to treat what turned out to be a minor nick on her gum line that apparently caused the bleeding (mouth bleeds can be pretty traumatic initially, I was told, but they do subside within an hour or two if it's nothing serious). Other emergency vet clinics usually jump on "needed testing" which results in sometimes exorbitant charges that prove nothing at all (I'm speaking from experience). The techs and the vet calmed my fears, assessed my dog for potential dire conditions and sent us on our way. Easy to locate, ample parking, nice waiting area, friendly attendants, techs and vet experience. Charges were extremely fair. Wait time for us was short, but understand they do triage incoming cases so wait times can be extended due to severity of emergency. Definitely recommended, since they only treat emergency cases (rather than continuing, routine care of pets), so they are clearly prepped for that. While it was a drive to get here from where we live, it was worth it knowing I wouldn't need to cash in my 401(k) for my dog to be seen on a Sunday.

The ultrasound indicated that she likely was not pregnant, but that she appeared to have pyometra, which can be a serious and potentially life-threatening condition. Because I wanted a second opinion, I contacted Kerry and asked if I could bring my dog in. I was told I could come in Tuesday morning at 9:30. At 9:18 Tuesday morning, my babysitter unexpectedly canceled. I have a one-year-old at home, and because my child normally goes down for a nap around 10:00, I immediately contacted the office to explain that I could no longer make the appointment. I specifically sent a text explaining the situation and apologized. I want to point out that text messaging has always been the primary way I have communicated with this clinic, and it has also been the primary way the clinic has communicated with me. Because of that, I had no reason to believe that sending a text to let them know I could not make the appointment would somehow be considered failing to notify them. The office later called me while I was unavailable. I followed up by text to apologize for missing the call and explained again what had happened. I also sent an email with my dog's veterinary records and apologized again while explaining the situation. I received no response to any of these messages. This morning, I called because my dog's condition had become more concerning. She was no longer eating, and she was throwing up after drinking water. I was trying to reschedule and get her seen because I was genuinely worried about her. Instead, I was told that they did not want me as a patient because I had "no-called, no-showed" and supposedly never contacted them. That is simply not true. I contacted the office immediately when my childcare fell through, followed up when they called and I couldn't answer, and sent an email explaining everything and providing my dog's records. What was most upsetting was the way I was spoken to on the phone. Rather than simply discussing the missed appointment or helping me figure out how to get my dog seen, I was scolded and repeatedly interrupted to the point that I ultimately had to hang up. If there was a missed-appointment fee, I would have completely understood being charged one. Honestly, I would have rather been charged $150-$200 for missing the appointment than be scolded and spoken to like a child. A fee is one thing; being treated disrespectfully when I had genuinely tried to communicate with the office is another. There is another issue that has bothered me about this clinic during my previous visits as well: I am routinely not given pricing upfront. I have repeatedly left the clinic experiencing significant sticker shock because I wasn't given a clear estimate or explanation of what services would cost beforehand. I believe pet owners should be given transparent pricing whenever possible so they can make informed decisions about their pets' care. I completely understand that veterinary offices have busy schedules and that missed appointments can be frustrating. I also understand having a no-show policy. What I do not understand is refusing to acknowledge the communication I actually made, especially when I was contacting the office because my dog may have a potentially serious medical condition. I was not asking for special treatment. I was asking for a second opinion and then trying to get my dog help when her symptoms became worse. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this clinic. Compassion, communication, and transparency matter especially when someone is scared and trying to get medical care for their pet.

Update: We wound up at UrgentVet in the Woodlands later the same day. The experience was like night and day. They greeted us, almost immediately, the doctor saw her within 30 minutes and came up with a course of diagnosis to find out what is going on. We are now waiting for the results and all of it happened in under an hour. I dropped 2k on the diag and treatment but would have paid double that if needed for my precious dog. These people actually seemed to care about my pet and me.

This office consistently failed to listen to us as owners and repeatedly brushed off legitimate concerns. We were also given important information -- including medication requirements and major procedure costs exceeding $1,400 -- at the very last minute despite appointments being scheduled weeks in advance. There was little communication and almost no opportunity to properly prepare. Most concerning was how they handled our anxious dog. Instead of using fear-free or calming techniques, he was handled roughly in a way that clearly escalated his fear and stress. Their approach made him significantly more anxious and reactive rather than helping him feel safe. We were then blamed when he became too stressed for them to examine him. We also later learned that we had been incorrectly told our dog was heartworm-free when he actually had heartworms. Between the poor communication, dismissive attitude, inaccurate medical information, and lack of proper handling for fearful animals, we completely lost trust in this clinic.

very easy to do community service here. apple maps says 10am but i'm pretty sure they open at 8am…read more they have a lot of volunteers on weekends, and once there's nothing left for you to do you kinda have to leave. i noticed there's less and less things to do towards 1pm then you're kind of scrambling for a task. they clean a lot in the mornings so there's plenty to do. you don't have to fill anything out until you get there, but make sure your crime is approved. bring close toed shoes, long pants, and dress for the weather, but have short sleeves or roll them up when you get to work. there's indoor work and outdoor work be ready for both. they offer rain boots for working with water, but some have holes in them so i brought my own. also bring a piece of paperwork from court, something with your cause number on it. you don't have to touch any poop with your bare hands, gloves are available and they use poop scoopers & long bristled brush stick things for cleaning. if you're not strong maybe don't take a dog for a walk unless you're confident they won't drag you around. put in some headphones and do whatever you can, everybody's chill and you can pet the dogs once in awhile.

Took her back to shelter for booster, their vet diagnosed her with ringworm, and let me know the vigorous steps, he said it would be difficult and he was right, I tried everything, it was to much for a 70yr old. I had to return her over a month later. My issue is, it's easy to check for ringworm why was it not done before adoption? Or did they know beforehand? I never would have adopted her had I known.
