I am honestly blown away about how amazing the doctors and techs are here! We started bringing our crew here in September and we have been so impressed. Our rottie, Winnie, is treated like a rockstar here. She goes in weekly for laser therapy, the care and compassion everyone has for her. Everyone knows her by name and is always checking up on her. They talk to us about all treatment options, even new ones that come out that they think would work for her. We have a GSD too and they are so good with the big dogs! We are able to get their bloodwork results while we wait and the vet comes in and talks through all the results. It is so nice having a great local vet! read more

Dr. Molly is the new owner of this clinic, However, this is NOT her primary location and therefore she is not there very often. She also owns Northwest Animal Hospital in Cypress, which is where she spends most of her time. We have been taking our pets here for years, first under ownership of Dr. Hartke, now under Dr. Molly. So why 2 stars on my review? Because of the staff at Willis Animal Hospital. I don't have bad things to say about Dr. Molly as a vet, but rather as a business owner. The office manager is going to drive this clinic into the ground. She is very rude and does not know how to talk to customers! As the owner of the clinic, Dr. Molly is ultimately responsible for how it is run, and since she is seldom there, she is not seeing on a daily basis what is happening. That's on her. And when I gave her feedback about my experience there, her response was to tell me maybe I needed to find another clinic. No problem....I will take my thousands of $$$ for 3 dogs elsewhere. Be warned...you never know what vet you will see, and since they have "visiting/rotating" vets for surgeries, procedures, etc, its all up in the air as to who will perform the procedure. I also don't like the fact that they don't do ANY procedures, even cleaning their ears, in front of their clients...they take them into the back for everything! WHY? What are you hiding? Even for shots the animals are taken into the back. I would definitely stay away from Willis Animal Hospital!!! read more

Kind, caring, efficient staff and vet, Dr Tiffany Chan took great care of our foster kitten and went to bat for him with a vaccine manufacturer when he had a reaction, so much so that the manufacturer covered part of his bill. We returned for his neuter surgery, and he's a happy healthy boy with his new family now. We'll be bringing our other pets and fosters to them going forward. Well run office! read more

The place is a joke! If you don't do what the doctor recommends they will not provide services for you even for the things you agree to. You can hear the employees through the doors talking bad about patients and clients. The prices are constantly rising every so many months. Other clinics are more reasonable than this place. The receptionist was on her phone and was vaping behind the desk when there are signs stating not to smoke in the facility. When an issue arises its hard to contact the practice manager because they are always "in a meeting", and when you do get a hold of someone and stress a concern they immediately get very rude and hang up on you. I walked through the back area to use the bathroom and one dog was in a choke hold and held down by multiple techs while the dog was showing no signs of aggression. While in the bathroom, you could here them calling the animals a-holes and talking about personal affairs. The back kennels smelt like urine and the back area they were working in was filthy. Appointments take forever. I was here for almost 2 hours for an annual. The tech couldn't answer all of my questions and kept having to leave the room to find the answers. While the doctor was in the room, she kept messing with her watch and texting people from it. It was overall a disaster and I will not be returning. read more

I've gone back and forth about leaving this review but if you have a large dog you need to be aware. The vet apparently does not do well with larger dogs. My small dog , who happens to actually be somewhat aggressive, didn't like her either but he's not "scary" so her reaction was different. Took my 2 year old German Shepherd in for a minor issue. This was our 2nd time there . We didn't have any major issues the first visit. He was visibly nervous and as soon as she came in the room it was clear he wasn't comfortable. He tried to hide by me and shrank away . I encouraged him to let them put him on the scale to be examined. After he jerked his head away when she tried to look into one ear she aggressively grabbed his other ear to hold him still . He lost it! He has never once so much as bared his teeth . Ever ! This dog has never shown any aggression towards us, strangers, or other dogs. His temperament has always been very calm and shy. That was the first time I had ever seen him upset in any form. He was very scared . He growled and snapped at her. What happened next is the reason I'm leaving this review. Her reaction was HIGHLY unprofessional, and frankly downright stupid on her part. She lost total control of him and herself. She began screaming , panicking, yelling at her staff to run and shut themselves in another room. It was completely insane. She was hysterical. Especially for someone that is supposed to be a professional. In the mean time my dog ran straight to me and tried to hide once again. She ran out of the room SCREAMING at me like it was somehow my fault ? While she hid in another room, opening the door long enough to scream at me again, I led my dog outside and we went home. After seeking references for better equipped vets I learned I'm not the first to make this type of complaint about this location. I hear they are great with cats. That's probably true. I would not recommend for dogs, especially large dogs. read more

I saw this vet in April of 2020. It was a disaster. The awful reviews on here are very accurate. She was much more concerned about money than the welfare of my pet. Her attitude is very unprofessional. Honestly, she could have some mental health issues. I hope she seeks help before she loses all her business. Don't EVER take your pet here! She was going to send our dog home to die because we could not pay $1000 out of pocket today. We have been going to Dr. Hartke for 13 years, when our dog was a puppy, she dog sat in her own home!!! When we told her we would have the full payment ($1500) on Tuesday after we signed the papers on our house that sold, she wouldn't budge!! We took our dog to Coldsprings and she is getting phenomenal treatment! They know our situation and kept her over the weekend so they could slowly bring her back to health. UNBELIEVABLY BAD! WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER. WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS. I should have paid more attention to the online reviews for this vet, Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM. My small dog and I are a customer of Willis Animal Hospital and Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM. Our first visit was earlier this year and my dog received an annual checkup, bloodwork and vaccinations. The visit was fine and Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM was professional and courteous. Yesterday I needed an Rx for Royal Canin Weight Control dry dog food, as it was discussed during our previous visit that my dog should lose weight. I called the office and asked for the prescription and they told me that they would not email it to me, that I had to pick it up in person. I live at Lake Livingston and it is a 70-mile round trip and 1.5 hour drive for me to get their office. It's very inconvenient and time-consuming. I arrived at Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM's office today and after ringing the bell, Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM greeted me at the front. I mentioned that I was driving 70 miles and taking 1.5 hours just to pick up an Rx, and asked why they couldn't just email it to me? She said that it's one of the ways they keep their costs down. I'm a CPA and very familiar with product and labor costing and I knew her response wasn't valid, so I asked why it costs more to email the Rx. Then she said that well mistakes can happen and that's why they don't do it. That response makes no sense as well. You simply take a scan of a written prescription which creates the digital image, and you email that image to the customer. Companies and offices have been doing this for 20 years. It's not new or special technology. In fact I saw a Brother (brand) printer/scanner in the reception area, so the investment had already been made in the technology. The vet, in a huff, retreated to the back area. At that point I decided that I would no longer patronize this office and Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM, so I rang the bell again so that I could ask the Dr. for a copy of our medical records. I rang the bell several times and there was no response. So after almost 2 minutes I walked thru the door from where Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM had previously emerged, and I asked for a copy of the medical records. Her response: "We'll email them to you." To which I responded..."so you can email the medical records but you can't email a prescription?", to which Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM angrily and loudly responded "WE JUST DON'T DO IT!". Wow. To say I was shocked and dismayed is an understatement. I have never received this type of treatment from any type of Dr office, ever. So, no doubt Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM will respond to this review and try to refute my comments so I'll address this now. She might say I was rude. I wasn't, I simply asked questions. She might say I raised my voice. I didn't, I simply asked questions in my normal tone of voice, yet she raised her voice at me. She might say I was badgering or insistent - I wasn't, I just simply asked questions to try to understand. In summary, I found that Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM's behavior toward me and my pet was unprofessional, rude, untruthful, and very disappointing. I will never return to this office. I will probably report Dr. Sherrie L. Hartke DVM to the state board. I encourage others who read the reviews here on Yelp to take notice. read more

Dr Hartke is the best vet. She has taken care of our dog for the past five years. Always gives very loving care. She performed a surgery in the office with excellent results. Prices have been very reasonable. Always offers alternative treatments if there are options. We are very happy. Office staff has always been courteous and call to check up after visits. We wouldn't go anywhere else. She also takes care of my moms dog and performed a lifesaving surgery on her. Highly recommend her. read more

I've used Dr. Hartke for years. She's been my primary vet for as long as I can remember - I've always thought she was good with cats but not so much with dogs. But after my last experience there, I won't ever return. I recently had a cat who was very very sick and needed an emergency surgery to potentially help her. There was a chance she could get better, but surgery was the best option. We got an appointment to take her in and see what was wrong and get a quote on how much it could cost and when we found out the price, that we couldn't afford, I asked if she could atleast send her home with antibiotics and was ignored, twice. I also asked one of the nurses if they could see if there was anything else that could be done and was left in the room for atleast 20 minutes to the point where Dr. Hartke forgot we were even there. I ended up taking my kitty to another vet and getting a quote for $300 less. Kitty is home and back to her old self now. But between the insane prices, and seemingly lack of care I won't be going back to Willis Animal Hospital again. read more

I would give this place a negative rating if I could. I had not been to this facility for years and years, but my Chihuahua needed his anal glands expressed so I decided to go there. It's a very small place and no one was friendly at all. They barely acknowledged me or my pet. The Vet rushed to the back when I walked in. I filled out the paperwork and the tech took him to the back. I heard him crying but I expected that given the procedure. The tech brought him back and said he had a thick wall on the right anal gland and they could not do the procedure again without an exam (meaning they did do it this time on both glands.) She mentioned that it could possibly be a tumor. I asked if the Vet could see him at that time. She said no. I was the only one there. It took four days for my dog to totally recover from that visit. I had a Chihuahua that lived to be 18 and she never had a problem from that procedure. Why didn't the Vet just say she couldn't do it because of the thickness or at least tell me the situation and let me make the choose? The receptionist did call the next day to ask how he was doing. I told her his situation and she just said yeah, it takes a few days for them to recover. He did improve very little each day but I will never go back to them and would suggest that anyone who does take their beloved pet there to beware. read more

This is the only vet we go to anymore. Dr. Hartke is a great vet that clearly cares about her patients. This place is no more expensive than your typical vet and not nearly as overpriced as the vet practices nearby. She's an extremely cat friendly vet and knows how to handle cats properly and with care. Anytime we've gone to her she's always been careful in handling our pets and quick to correctly diagnose the problem. She's also very blunt when it comes to issues that if they come up again are considered emergency and should be taken to an emergency vet immediately. It's very rare to find a vet practice that truly cares about your pets but this is it. read more

I was excited to find at good reasonably priced vet in our area. I thought that was Willis Animal Hospital. I was wrong. We brought our dog in for skin issues. They prescribed meds that worked. When I called to get a refill they wouldn't refill the meds, because they needed to see her again. Why? It worked. Oh, now I get it. You want to charge me more money. Oh, you can't see her for a month. So she will have sores all over her, so when you do see her and she has sores all over her what will you learn. Oh, you will have to re-prescribe the meds, and then I will have to make another appointment (money) so you can see if it worked. Not helpful. I wish I would have seen these other reviews before going to them. read more

When I told her that she didn't have to grab them with force the way she was she said "some people think they are Vets when their not!" Very rude!!! Took my cat in for an ear infection or possible injury to his ear. He stayed overnight for bloodwork and to get his ear flushed. (Prepaid of course) When I saw his ear I immediately questioned if anything had been done. He wasn't shaved at all and his ear looked identical to when I dropped him off, full of black dried pus. (I have photos) She offered to reflush at the same price. I asked for my records including any presurgical bloodwork to take him to another vet. It took three days to get those emailed to me. I took my cat to another vet and a huge cancerous tumor was found in his ear, he was euthanized immediately. Not only will this vet not speak to you about your Animal, (she prefers email and says she leaves phone messages which you will never get) she also treats her staff with complete disrespect. (First red flag) Do your research into her past. Trust me. I won't even name the other vet, but my new Vet in Willis is amazing. Do your research! read more

I've never had such an awful experience with a vet. She's fantastic with cats, but does not seem to be so great with dogs. She saved our cats life a couple years ago to the tune of almost $1000. Unfortunately, today I had to take my dog in for a check up. He'd started to have some problems urinating. Now, my dog is 14 years old. I've had him since he was an 8 week old pup. Hes NEVER bitten anyone. Our appointment was for 5 pm, we got there 10 minutes early so that we could be prompt. My 2 sons and I waited 30 minutes to be brought back to an exam room. Unfortunately, my dog does NOT like dogs bigger than himself. I'd already made this known when I set the appointment. While waiting, another dog came in that happened to be bigger than our guy. Of course, he barked and growled, like he has always done. Never has he ever bitten anyone. It didn't take long, the vet tech weighed him and brought us to a room. Dr. Hartke came in immediately. The vet tech picked my 14 year old dog up and started to put him on the table, hurting him. He's old, his bones are brittle and hes just plain old sore! He was run over by a truck when he was much younger, so I'm sure he's got some arthritis. What happened next just shocked me beyond belief. They put a muzzle on my dog. A dog who has NEVER been muzzled before. The vet tech manhandled my dog to hold him onto the table, not giving any thought to the fact that he was 14. Dr. Hartke started reading me the riot act about my dog not having heart worm prevention. He's 14. He's been tested for heart worm. His test was negative. This dog is like my child. I was absolutely shocked at the way we were all treated. Never again. I've sent countless people to her. Proclaiming that she's a great veterinarian. She may be great with cats, but she was horrible with my dog. I'll never bring any of my animals there again. I left and told them to send me the bill. Never ever again will I refer her to others. read more

I really did not want to write this a review, I even went by the office today and asked if I could talk to the main veterinarian. I was told yes at first and then no and would have to make a 5pm appointment for Tuesday. Sad part is I don't think she was even asked. I made an appointment last week to have my dog put to sleep because she has seizers and they were getting more violent. I went in Friday and the lady that came in said she worked there part time. She examined Ruby and said she was healthy and wanted to run blood test and start her on medication. I asked if she could guarantee the medicine would work and she said no and I told her I did not want to put her through that. She then told me that we just do not euthanize any dog. I understand if that is your policy I will respect that but when I made the appointment I should have been told that and would not have wasted anyone's time. Dr. Hartke has been our vet for more than a decade. She is undoubtedly highly qualified for both dogs and cats. She has always been direct & accurate in her evaluations, yet understanding and compassionate when discussing difficult diagnoses. Our kitten, Sofie, had been extremely ill. She had stayed overnight at an emergency animal hospital who then referred us to the Willis Animal Hospital for 24 hour care. Upon arrival my sick kitty and I were welcomed with open hands. The staff was honest, upfront, and caring. They loved on my sick Sofie from the moment they met her. They gave me an estimate (which was DEFINITELY A FAIR PRICE. I wish I would have brought our Sofie their sooner) for a 3 day stay. This was the 6th vet visit our kitten had in an 11 day period, she was severely sick and in great pain. Even though we had God bring our baby home with him that day I would recommend this animal hospital to anyone and everyone. It's further away for us but I will never hesitate to take our future animals there. They made Sofie's last moments here with us perfect and I thank them for that. read more

She was only there for a check-up, but she was well treated and thoroughly enjoyed her time and the attention she was given at this facility. Looking forward to our next visit. read more
