Found Burlingame Barber shop accepted walk-ins and headed that way. Wasn't sure if I was walking into a Supercuts under a different name but was desperate for some seat time. Waited only 15min and a young man called me over and started in. I really appreciated the questions and conscious listening when asking what cut I wanted. WOW-WOW-WOW!! The level of detail and craftsmanship was not what I expected. A week and a half later and I am on yet another trip taking the time to review this shop. Wish I had asked the Barbers name so I could include it in this review. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this barbershop!

The first time I went in for a cut, he was able to perfectly achieve the look I was going for. And for every subsequent visit since then, he's remembered the way I like my hair with no additional guidance needed. He is friendly, patient, and thorough - I can always depend on him making me look my best. The shop has a laid back, casual atmosphere. But I got the same feeling that those lyrics invoke after departing Genteel Society with my sick cut last week (although I did not dye my hair blonde -- next time?). Genteel Society is small but has a hip atmosphere. A DJ tutorial played as I got my hair cut and I learned a few techniques while my hair was getting done. My barber, Myron, was so nice. Most of the time, it's not a difficult thing to find a drugstore or Grocery store that has replacement blades. This was not the case In Burlingame. As a result, I was facing having to go to the funeral without a clean shaven face. The last place I checked was Gameday, but I did not have much hopes. After all, who's going to sell me a razors when they could insist I get a cut? I didn't catch the name of the barber in the first chair, but he helped without hesitation. He was really nice and refused to take any money from me (it was just one razor, but I offered $5 for his troubles). I lived in the Bay Area for a long time and my wife was a long-time resident of Burlingame. Some of you may remember the city as it was 30 years ago. People just took care of each other. To whomever that individual was that night, thank you for helping out. Not just with the razor, but in helping bring back that small time feel. By the way - Dorco razors are now my hands-down favorite.

I met Jorge as a bartender at a local spot called Jack's and since I frequented Jack's a bit when I first got to this area, he gave me his info and told me that his full time gig was as a barber. I had a 2 day work conference I needed to go so I decided to him him a shot instead of going to a Supercuts or some type of corporate haircut place, which I've had bad experiences in the past. Since I wanted Jorge cut my hair, I needed to confirm a time when he would be able to cut my hair. They also do walk ins but since I wasn't familiar with the other barbers, I thought it would be best to just have him block out a time for me. Anyway we set a time for 12pm and since I wasn't familiar with the area where this shop was, I came a bit early to make sure I was there on time. The good thing about making an appointment was that because I came early and called ahead he said he was able to take me earlier. This place wasn't hard to find but since it was raining that day and I was new to the area, I had to find street parking (seems like all street parking or garage parking comes at a cost in the Bay Area). But I found metered parking close to the shop and with me being there a bit early I ended up eating at a pizza joint a few doors down from the barber shop. He was able to cut my hair and was good at the cut. He even rinsed out my hair after requesting to do so, since I was going straight into work right after. He was pretty concise with my cut, showing me as he went along and giving me a play by play with what he was doing. He was consistent with this process as he did the same for the client before me. I was satisfied with the cut and left content. Since I still haven't found a place to live, this will determine if I would return since I would preferably like to find a new barber relatively close to whenever I decide to live. But the service was good, it was just much pricier than what I'm used to in Houston and now living in the Bay Area. But Jorge was good. Super communicative and patient with how you tell him to cut your hair. I noticed that this location also won a few awards that they displayed on the wall. The ambience of the establishment was nice with the black and gold contrast as well as a wall of greenery (not sure if it was live plants or fake) and 2 waster fountain features on both ends of the store front window. It was definitely a high end vibe feeling. But if you're looking to try a new barber out, check out Jorge at Lions Den Shaveparlor!! Tell him Sebastian sent you!!
