Standard New Jersey service area and that is not a good thing. Crowded parking lot full of aggressive drivers, chaotic food court queues, and just adequate bathrooms. Normally I would have filled up at the gas station but NJ still does not allow pumping own gas. read more

We were on a long trip and returning from the Connecticut area. We got here really early to this travel plaza so the crowds and descended quite yet. It was very clean, modern, and a high selection of food options. A great place to stretch your legs on a long trip. Also, very easy to get on and off. Very good experience. read more

Very clean. Typically very crowded as it's the first rest area heading south when you leave NY. Bathrooms are always being cleaned & maintained. Decent food choices. Parking lot layout, it gets log jammed a lot coming in, but getting out is fine. read more

Went here for the 1st time on Friday November 28th 2025 with my parents, as we were heading back to SC, ending our trip. This is the first rest area heading south, and we had to stop and use the restrooms. Easy way to get on and off from the NJ turnpike, and parking was no issue. Walked in and used the restrooms, which were clean. We didn't use these facilities, but they also had a starbucks, chic fil a, convience store, and a burger king inside. They also had a sunoco gas station outside which we didn't need yet. Highly recommend stopping here! read more

The grounds around the rest area are filthy. Trash litters the entire parking lot and surrounding area. This is a tough rest are to get out of. The exit is blocked by truck lines fueling and trying to find parking. read more

Compared to your average rest stop this one is fairly modern, clean and new. This is one of two stops directly across from each other along NJ turnpike in Woodbridge. Each one has a few food stalls, and a travel convenience store. This one had Pret a Manger, Burger King, Chik-Fil-A, Starbucks and a Z Market. At around 9am on Saturday there weren't too many people in line for the food spots though Starbucks was a happening spot with a consistent flow of people ordering and waiting for drinks. There's a fair amount of seating, prob enough for a hundred people. Bathrooms were in pretty good condition and decently clean. read more

This service area reopened a few years ago, and it is so much more comfortable and spacious now. The bathrooms seem larger, and there was no line at all even when the food areas were busy. There are also Edison quotes sprinkled around the building design if you're looking for some history. They have some of the common rest stop food options (Starbucks, Auntie Anne's, Burger King), but also Chick-fil-A and Pret here. Of course, I was there on a Sunday, so Chick-fil-A was closed, meaning all the other lines were longer and slower. We picked up a pretzel from Auntie Anne's after being disappointed with the sandwich options from Pret (not the same variety as the city stores if you have dietary restrictions), and it was delicious and buttery. While on the long line, you could see them making the pretzels and it was nice to get something hot and fresh. (Note that they do not take the app/rewards.) I like the next stop going southbound (Molly Pitcher) a little better, but I would stop here again. read more

I visited this service area when I was returning from New Jersey to Pennsylvania, around 10:30 p.m. at night. The service area is well lit, have sufficient parking lots and a gas station, lot of food options including Chick-fil-A, starbucks, there is a store that contains variety of travel need items, and a very well maintained restroom. There is plenty of space to dining. We were going to take out from Chick-fil-A, which was the store open at that time, but I'm glad they had some food options, and another store over the area had salads that are pre-made. Overall, a good rest area will maintain worth the stop. read more

Great stop for on the road travel! Restrooms were plenty & clean! Several good food area to choose from Chick filet, Burger King, Star Bucks, mini pantry, etc. Best part was the extraordinary customer service of Victoria Pena(?), the ladies room attendant. We stopped through on a Thursday, 6pm ish to use the facilities. I had my yeti and dropped my small magnetic slider to the lid. After I noticed it missing, I went back to the restroom. Although Victoria could speak no English & I no Spanish, I was able to describe by hand and with the few words I could remember from my HS class, what I was looking for. She shook her head "no" and I left as she had not seen it. As my hubby & I took a minute to relax, I saw Victoria coming through the crowded plaza & to my surprise, she was looking for me...as she passed me while looking through the crowds, I called out to her "Amiga" with my limited Spanish. She turned and came to us with the biggest smile ever! She had found the "small" piece...amazing!!! I thanked her and off she went. We were so thankful of her kindness that I went back to find her and tip her. She immediately shook her head no, conveyed it wasn't necessary. I insisted and placed it in her pocket. I hugged her and we took this picture! So thankful for good hearted caring people in this world! It means alot to take the time & just be kind!!! She made my day!!! read more

This stop on my way back to Philadelphia from the Boston suburbs was an absolute nightmare. While it looks very aesthetically beautiful, the experience (for me) did not match. Just getting a parking spot was a scary task. The place was packed and the drivers and patrons were aggressive. There seemed to be a majority of non-mask wearing folks. I opted to wear mine for my brief trip inside to use the bathroom. The bathroom was not very clean, there were long lines, and again the other patrons were pretty unkind. After rushing to get the heck out of there, I was almost hit by a driver that decided to back their car up for seemingly no reason. The passenger in the front seat kindly lowered his window to heckle me for trying to get around the car. I could not understand a word he was saying, but it was off putting. While I get that it's not the fault of the rest stop that it attracts such an unappealing, unfriendly crowd, I feel it's my duty to share my experience with my fellow Yelpers. read more

Anyways, I was desperate to have a pizza slice before embarking on my journey but I COULD NOT find one with decent yelp reviews in the town I made a quick trader joe's stop in. Beer is hard to find in Philly, best to stock up beforehand. I am a U of Delaware alum (GO BLUE HENS!) so the NJTP and I are good, old friends. Lots of time spent together in the past. In fact, Richard Stockton was actually my go-to pit stop. It's exactly halfway between northern Westchester, NY (DON'T STALK MY PARENTS) and Newark, DE in case you're ever on jeopardy and they ask about that. You're welcome. After this cray fool from Colorado weaved in and out of my lane in front of me just to cut right back in before the exit lane bifurcated, we arrive in what is the shit show that is the Thomas Edison Rest Stop Parking Lot. What the fuq. Every mother effer was literally trying to go down this one lane in the lot and I just went around them and went in the lane that was closer to the entrance. Just my luck that someone right in front was leaving their spot and I snagged that bad boy. Haha, suckers. PS- I initially typed "pulling out" of their spot but thanks to all of the overly-testosteroned boys in my surgery rotation I am now unable to say anything with any remotely sexual reference for fear of being made fun of. Classic. The parking lot, the entrance way, and inside of Thomas Edison Rest Stop is a mad house (at least on a Sunday afternoon during beach season). As mortifying as this is, I had to settle for SBARRO'S. Not because it's "NY pizza" but because I'm a veg and Popeye's was just not going to cut it for me. I went with a cheese slice and a garlic bread-resembling bread stick. I was eyeing the ranch and garlic dipping sauces but "the dunk" would be challenging while operating a vehicle. I entertained the thought of getting a beverage but the calorie-free options were lacking and I didn't feel like paying $3 for what I could collect from my faucet. Also I didn't have anymore hands. I snagged some napkins and set off for the car. Upon entering my vehicle I set one of the bread sticks into the cup holder and situated my pizza crust grip to provide the proper physics/aerodynamics to allow the pointy part of the slice to remain suspended in the air while only maintaining contact with the crust. While still in this position, I threw the car in reverse and continued my journey. Unfortunately, subsequently a situation occurred where technology failed me. Google maps, curse their soul, misdirected me. There was a car accident, legit a car was on fucking FIRE, and they told me to get off the NJTP just to GET BACK ON! What the high heavens?!? Despite this mishap, the pizza was alright. I found the tomato sauce was unevenly distributed. The crust however, while not quite NY-fashioned, was very crisp and tasty. Always a much welcome sight when you gotta pee and feel like your bladder is about to burst while driving down the New Jersey Turnpike. Sure, it's good for a quick bathroom break, and a full service Sunoco is on site to fill up your tank, but as with most of these places the food selection is pretty much on the unhealthy side. Sbarro, Nathan's, Burger King, Popeye's - yuck!!!! At least there is are some pre-packaged foods like sandwiches, salads, and fruits/veggies, but they don't look too appetizing. The saving grace of this rest stop is that there is a Starbucks available to pick up a hot coffee and muffin. Some seating, lots of parking, and clean overall. this rest stop is very nice and i'd say is the nicest rests stop i've ever been to which is why i stop here every weekend when im driving down the shore. HOWEVER the gas attendants are absolutely awful and make up their own rules. there are signs all over saying "extra long hoses, use all lanes" so i waited in line only to get to the pump & the attendant refused to fill me up bc my gas cap was on the far side of the pump, he refused to even try to make it reach.i was furious, then i saw a pump across from me open up so i scooted in, the attendant on that pump then refused to fill me bc i didn't wait in line. at this point i was beyond angry told him how the man kicked me off the other line. he didn't care. i was then forced to turn around in a busy one way parking lot to get back on line at a 3rd pump who's attendant hadn't yet refused service to me. these foreign men pumping gas are all rude, speak no english, and make up their own rules despite all the signage saying to use all lanes. it was unbelievable. next time i go imma throw a soda at those attendants if i see the same ones who refused me. read more

We do the drive from DC to CT a few times a year, and seem to know most of the rest stops along the way. This one is recently renovated and has a good selection of places to eat, both healthy and fast-food. There's a Starbucks, Pret a Manger, Auntie Anne's, Chick-fil-A, and Burger King. The bathrooms are spacious, clean, and bright, and they also have a family changing restroom. There are a lot of tables with charging plugs and USB plugs. I'll definitely make a stop here next time we're on a road trip - it's hard to find healthier foods at rest stops, and the Pret a Manger is a lifesaver. read more

After a couple years of going to the older, much older rest stops around this area, this place surprised me! First of all, the aesthetics are beautiful, and I really dig the glass look. Second, the bathrooms (the primary reason people go to these sorts of places) was clean and well kept. Third, the food selection was pretty good and has a little something for everyone. Lastly, the glass quote panels are really neat looking and a great inspiration for anyone traveling here. But the only reason I'm rating this 4/5 is because there's a lot of trash in the parking lot, but that's likely due to the patrons that come in and out of here. And people often litter everywhere and that sadly ruins the beauty of this nice place. My friends and I dropped into the Thomas Edison rest stop on the Jersey Turnpike on our way from New York to Baltimore. I'd never been on this drive before, and found the rest stop thing kind of interesting--no long toll roads in California, where I do most of my long drives, so no need for these contained facilities. Parking was easy, and the rest stop was busy but not crazy. It looked like the place got tons of traffic, but was well equipped to handle it. The bathroom was clean--probably the most important thing for a rest stop. There were a few options for food, none of them particularly tempting. I got some baked ziti from Sbarro. It was fine. Separated me from my hunger, which was all I needed. Service was good. I thought it was interesting that the soda fountain had an attendant. My Diet Coke was pumped by a friendly teenager. Anyway, if you need a place to stop on the Jersey Turnpike, no reason you shouldn't pull off at the Thomas Edison rest stop. I'm sure it's functionally identical to all the other options, but hey, maybe you feel like eating at a Sbarro. read more

Place is remodeled so looks nice and now have a chik filet. Issue is places are still run by hmshost. So while the food might be same as standalone franchises the service and how they cook it are not in a bad way. Some are small as the chik filet did not have the dipper ketchups which are great especially if plan to eat in the car. Service was slow and my waffle fries were cold. Someone from chik filet headquarters needs to come here to make sure things are done right or brand will be tarnished. read more
