My fiancé had an eye exam here a couple months ago. Upon entering, this place looked very clean and professional and loved the atmosphere. You sign in electronically and I don't quite remember how long we waited but it prolly wasn't that long since we had a morning appointment and there wasn't much people in the waiting room anyway. When we got called up to see someone, the exam itself went smoothly. After his eyes got dilated, we went to this separate waiting room that was behind a huge fish tank. Now, I think the wait here was a little long and when we got called into another office, I believe the wait for the doctor was somewhat long too. I'm not entirely too sure but I do remember thinking those thoughts a couple times. Just not sure how long the actual wait was though. Anyways, after his eye exam was completely finished, we went to the optical department and the guy who worked there was very helpful and everything just went smooth. No bumps in the road. Maybe minor ones. I went back today to pick up some new lens I ordered my fiancé and I was in and out in 5 min. Only complaint today was that I've been trying to get in touch with them for a couple days but their lines are always busy. Other than that, I'm good. read more

I spent over a thousand dollars for a rimless pair of glasses. I ordered my glasses August 5th. I have no glasses. I do not have a spare so can't see right now. To their credit they have touched bases with me twice. I mentioned that they have a low star rating on yelp for this reason. It was explained that whoever lab they use also does work for other eye groups. So this means you can cool your jets and expect no glasses until at least a month. This is very frustrating. read more

This was my third visit to Thomas Eye Group. The first two were okay but my most recent visit with Dr. Carlisle did not meet my expectations. He was abrupt, seemed to be in a tremendous hurry and was unfriendly. He seemed puzzled that I asked him a question about my condition. Excellent eye care but a subpar billing department. I had a routine eye exam early LAST YEAR and was fully covered by vision insurance which Thomas accepted. Thomas waited until THIS YEAR to submit the insurance claim. My vision insurance changed to a new provider with the new year and now Thomas has asked me to pay the bill because they never got around to submitting the claim last year. I really love the doctors and staff here BUT it never fails that when I come with an appointment and early......it takes about an hour to see the doctor. I literally have to take 1/2 off from work to be seen. I really wish they could/would do better. I have been using this clinic for my daughters regular checkups . But so far i feel its just money making for them .. service and curtsy is least to expect. Every time i have to call billing department and to request to adjust balance. While seeing doctor i away pay co pays and later get billing on the name of all wide verity of tests ... Its all rip of charges... Keep milking your wallet by referring to various doctors withing the group and doing various tests without any conclusions .... Totally frustrated .... read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!! I would give zero stars if possible. So, this is an entire breakdown of having to bring my mother for cataract surgery and multiple appointments over the last 3 months. Basically, the level of unprofessionalism is astonishing. Having spent so much time here, I have seen and interacted with many people in the office. The one positive is that the nurses are very friendly, but that is the one and only positive. Now on to everything else. First, the wait times are ridiculous. The average wait time is an hour, on 3 occasions, it was longer than 3 hours just to get into an exam room. You will spend less than 5 minutes with the actual doctor and then they send you on your way. Having spent many hours in the waiting room, the man at the front desk is always short with patients, and I have seen him yell at elderly people who were having trouble with the self-check in machine more than once. The peak of incompetence was when my mother had her actual surgery. The next day there was the post-op appointment, which was scheduled 2 months before. We walk into the Lilburn office at 9am. When checking in the machine did not confirm the appointment, so I asked the front desk about it. He looked at me and said you have no appointment here; your appointment is at 3pm across town and you made a mistake. So, I brought the printout back to show him the appointment that was confirmed the day before during the surgery, then he tells me, "The doctor is out of the office, you made a mistake". For them to not let us know the doctor was out, and then not even tell us about a cancellation and rescheduling across town for a very important post-op appointment shoes an extreme lack of care for their patients. Do not go here if at all possible. This has to be one of the worst medical offices and companies I have ever dealt with. Update: Came in for 2 more appointments since writing the review. We sat in the secondary waiting room for 2 hours to see the doctor, 3 hours after the actual appointment time. Update 2: Just brought my mother in for another appointment that was at 3 pm, we sat in the waiting room for 2 hours. The doctor showed up 2 hours late then tried to get through all the patients before closing. We literally spent 2 minutes with the doctor. Granted this the third time this has happened in the last year and a half. Update 3: I just got a letter in the mail saying a $100 bill from Thomas Eye for my mother group has been sent to collections. I got no letters or calls about this. I just took her there within the last couple of months for an injection and was never told anything about this when I was paying for the appointment. This has to be one of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever seen. I am thinking about literally posting this on every possible review site and going to the Better Business Bureau. Switched from an outstanding practice in Buckhead to Thomas Eye Group after I moved to Lilburn because the office is close by. I expect eye care to be time intensive, so I already know I'll be there awhile. The staff is so personable and professional, keeping me informed about those seemingly inevitable delays. Dr. Brown's bedside manner is benign, but I don't require a family reunion style welcome from an annual visit. Dr. Neufeld and Dr. Ellis have both been fantastic for specialty and emergent care. They are both thorough and their explanations go the extra mile to be sure I am confident in the level of care I have received. That's where my kind remarks end. The business office is so automated that you will get overcharged and have even a small balance sent to collections by a bot without review. I saw Dr. Ellis on a Saturday in November for an emergency and quickly paid the $75 fee when the bill arrived. I missed an additional email invoice two weeks later because I had joint replacement surgery. Imagine my surprise when I received a collections notice this week for $35 related to the emergency appointment! No call, no paper invoice, just boom! Collections. The billing specialist is reviewing my EOB against their records and I expect a refund of $60, and because of this fiasco, I'm firing Thomas Eye Group. They're so big that my departure won't matter, but they could do better if they wanted to. read more

We usually go to the Suwanee (which is clean, organized, and more professional, and much closer to where we live) location but since my daughter's secondary insurance is Medicaid (she has Autism) they switched it where Medicaid patients can only be seen by one doctor (Dr. Salit whom we like) at the Lilburn location ONLY on Wednesdays at 8:30am. Not enough parking, too many people and the staff is terrible! Well the front staff. We got here at 8:15, checked in at 8:25 (change of primary insurance issues which the girl who checked me in wouldn't listen to me about) and she was called back at 8:45. Like I said back office staff and doctor, happy with but this scheduling, the front staff and location, no good. Looking for another doctor who will see my daughter. read more

Worst medical experience of my life. Like herding cattle...there's approx. 5 different stations with the second to last station being the doctor. Appt was at 10:20am for annual check-up; left there at 12:22pm skipping the last station to pick out some glasses. Also had two scripts and receptionist only printed one and sent me on my way which was not the one that was urgent.. She argued when I mentioned where is a script that I need for distance. Then she found it and mentioned oh sometimes there are two. Please save yourself some grief and go to a smaller operation. This is my first on-line review of anything in 50 years only because I feel so passionate about it. Hopefully it will encourage you to think strongly about your decision. read more

Very nice office! We have been coming here for about 4 years. Staff is always friendly and they stay on schedule. The only negative is that they don't have a huge supply of glasses and it takes a few days for glasses to come in. I have also had to bring my daughter in for an urgent visit in the past and they fit her right in. I don't want to go anywhere else. They also have guest WiFi!!!! read more

I've been a patient for approx 3 years of Thomas Eye Group. Only in the last year have I experienced extremely long wait times when coming for a visit. The last visit, I waited over an hour and even when I was called back, was told it may be awhile before I would see the Dr. I left that day without being seen. Overbooking seems to be the norm as far as scheduling at this office, as the waiting room was packed when I arrived, and a gentleman was leaving without being seen when I checked in. When I called the next week to get prescription info, I couldn't even get through. I messaged through the patient portal and never got an answer about my prescription. Therefore, I am moving my records to another group. I hated to leave because I was established patient, but had no other choice. If you can only see a certain amount of patients in one day between 3 Drs on site, then schedule only that amount of appointments, allowing for emergencies because they do happen. Very disappointed on how Anita dropped the ball on my daughter's glasses. We were told we could pick them up Jan 03,2020. I called several times that day to see if they were in. They had me on hold for so long, I had to keep being transferred. Let's just say it took another week to get the glasses. After escalating my call to the manager(Daniel) he felt no need to apologize for the issue. Refuse to take my calls until I emailed his manager. Quite impressed with most everything....greeted by receptionist...asked to sign in using computer....was called back by Suki before I even sat down. Suki did an exceptional job of eye exam & reviewing personal health history. After dilation, was transfered to dimly lit room next to a huge peaceful fish tank. ((Unfortunately, was occupied by a rambunctious vocal child)) After short wait time for dilation, relocated to another office where I waited 20-30 minutes for Dr Alan Brown. Not impressed with extended wait time, but found Dr Brown to be intently involved in my eye care. Very professional and not rushed. I will not let this incident cause me to give a bad rating, I have been going to TEG for years, but I went in to get the nose pads on my glasses change, it was done efficiently. However, thinking the technician would clean up the glasses and return it to me. she is telling me she did not touch the lens. Never visited an Opticians office where they do work on my glasses and had it back dirty. Common sense should tell you to clean it up. read more

1) The lady at the payment window after the exam was talking to the employee next to her. She was obviously upset, and this spilled over to bad customer service. She took payment and said 'ok'. I advised I wanted to order glasses. She said 'you need to go over there'. No thanks for using them as my eye provider.... nothing. Very rude. 3) The 2 ladies in the eyeglass area were talking to each other in the little eyeglass office. One looked at me, continued to finish her story with the other employee, then finally came out to help me. 3) I paid a premium, over what insurance provided, to order glasses here. They had to send the glasses back due to the lenses were not set correctly to my vision. I got them the 2nd time, and still not correct. This will be the 3rd time to get these glasses correct. Over the past two weeks I have made several attempts to get a contact lens appointment. I first filled out all of the online information but no one called, so I called directly and the second time I was told that I needed to give them additional insurance information on the phone, which I did not have on me, even though I had just been there weeks before, and the third time which is today I called and they told me that the contact lens department is busy and it will have to call me back some other time. I called another eye company and within one minute they gave me an appointment. Still I had ordered my glasses from Thomas eye group and today I tried to pick them to pick them up for the 2nd time. The first time the glasses were not in, which is not a problem, but today I went to pick them up and the one person who works in the eyeglass section was out to lunch. Of course he deserves lunch, but I think the biggest concern was that when I went to the reception area there were either three or four people standing in there and no one could go and hand me my glasses. I'm going to be required to give another hour to drive back-and-forth to pick up glasses because there is no back up for somebody who's gone to lunch. Between not being able to get a contact lens appointment and they're not being a backup system for allowing people to pick up their glasses I've become very frustrated with Thomas Eye Group. read more

Absolutely awful. Had a 9am appointment. After 1 1/2 hr in the waiting room I left & rescheduled my appointment with promises that as soon as I walked in I'd be taken right back. Nope--30 minutes later still waiting then told there were 2 in front of me. Office manager offered no apology. Only told me it was a "retina day" & sometimes that happens. Really?!?! Funny that the front desk said there weren't enough rooms. Bottom line, horrible customer service. I will NOT be back nor ever recommend them. read more

Every time i make an appointment here I come in and don't get called back for 30+ minutes. It's a very reoccurring thing to happen here. Great place, great doctors, but I make certain appointment times for specific reasons and when I have to leave my appointment before I even get called back bc the wait has been so long is aggravating. Im writing this review as I wait. I had an appointment at 10:00AM, I arrived at 9:35 just to be on the safe side I knew I was a little early however i would much rather be early rather than miss my appointment time. It is now 10:45AM and I am still in the waiting area. Not to mention the waiting area is packed and it seems like they are over booked and understaffed. When I arrived the receptionist did not acknowledge me but simply looked and me and then looked at the check in computers on either side of the desk, so I assumed I should just check in and find my place in the waiting area. I just got called back at 10:51 the MA did a short eye exam and now I am in another waiting room and of cores it's packed. Now I wait for the doctor to see me. What is the point of making an appointment when you aren't seen anywhere close to the time of your appointment. I finally got back to the room around 11:15. Dr.Cobb was AWESOME he was able to get my procedure done quickly I loved the doctor but the waiting times are awful. read more

Great staff, very friendly. The doctor was great as well, very thorough eye exam. My son had to see the pediatric specialist. Only downer is the wait time. We had a 3pm appointment time , showed up at 2:55, wasn't seen until 3:45. Didn't leave until. 5:00 pm. A bit of a long process for a kid. read more

If I could give zero stars I would...more like thumbs down.....these people make me come in at 8am and of course I am on to me for my 8 yr old to be seen and we have been waiting for an hour. Place looks clean and organized but staff and scheduling. Absolutely horrible. How do you expect to see patients if you don't know how to run a schedule or properly schedule people. If the appt is at 8am then I want to be seen no later than 815/830. But to wait to be seen for am hour and then start the exam process is ridiculous. Unacceptable, this is not how you run a business. I was called at 9am to be seen and a wonderful technician by the name of William was very concerned for us and our wait and was sensitive to our concerns and very courteous and professional. Run as fast as you can!!! They did lasik on both my eyes, both got terribly infected, causing the 2nd surgery to be postponed due to the first infection, then the same thing happened in 2nd eye! My eyesight is soooo much worse than it was before I went to see these quacks, plus the cataracts started reforming within weeks. It was a true nightmare, I should have sued them!!! I don't usually write reviews, but I just had to this time. My son was two when we first discovered he needed glasses. I took him to Thomas Eye Group for a complete exam. The waiting room is pretty and comfortable enough, so I thought "so far so good." I was anxious because here I was getting my baby fitted for glasses and I did not know what to expect. The wait time didn't ease my anxiety because I had to sit and wait for over an hour. The tech who initiated the exam was not personable at all and seemed extremely frustrated that my two-year-old would not sit still and take the eye drops for the refraction. (It was like they had never seen a child cry while administering eye drops.) My mother and I had to coax him and by the time we were seated in the dark room to wait, both of us were exhausted. I would have thought that since they specialize in pediatric ophthalmology and treat children every day that they would have a better bedside manner. The first experience was terrible, but I thought that I would give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. To my dismay, the second experience was worse. They could not get my son to take the eye drops, so they told us we would have to come back. Oh yeah, and they charged for another exam. You would have thought that I learned my lesson by then, but unfortunately I tried them one last time. The exam was OK. The ophthalmologist was not personable at all and it was kind of uncomfortable since my son was trying to engage him in conversation. The worst part was that they charge $350 for the exam. Now, I am not against paying a reasonable fee for good work. Not at all. I don't like paying top tier fees for below average work. I am definitely going to get my family's eye exams elsewhere from now on. read more

I am very surprised by the other reviews on this office. I have had a superb experience at this location and there warranty for glasses is excellent. I have had my daughters glasses replaced several times with only a minimal shipping fee. read more
