This establishment is the absolute worse. I returned the prescription eyeglasses because it was the same as the eyeglasses that I already have and they claim to have a no refund policy. The money I paid for the eyeglasses will now go to their restocking fee. I will never deal with them again and I'm hoping they lose 100 x the amount that they stole from me. read more

Dr. Jim Wood and the team at Wood Vision Center in Monroe, GA are the absolute best if you are needing eye care. Right when you walk in the door, they make you feel at home. You are not just another number at Wood Vision. On my second visit, they remembered my name immediately when I entered the building. Dr. Jim Wood is seriously like the Bill Nye "The Science Guy" of Optometry. With an upbeat and friendly personality, you can tell he is very passionate and actually loves what he does. My past two appointments have had very long wait times. At my most recent appointment, which was supposed to be at 4:40, I didn't see the doctor until 6:00. I was not told when I checked in that the doctor was running late. It would have been even better if I'd gotten a phone call before I even got to the office so that I could have rescheduled. I had a procedure done on my eyes and was given a prescription for eye drops to help my eyes heal properly. I was told the prescription was called into the pharmacy, but when I got to the pharmacy they didn't have an order for me. Wood eye care was closed by then so I couldn't call anyone to check on the prescription. I received a text message the next morning and it had been called in to the wrong pharmacy. I tried to call Wood eye care for 20 minutes to have them call the prescription into the correct pharmacy and no one answered the phone. I had to send multiple text messages to get someone to call me. When I finally got a call back I was told the prescription had been sent to the pharmacy I requested. I called my pharmacy and was again told they did not have an order for me. I spent the next two hours calling the pharmacy and calling/texting WEC to try to get the prescription filled at the correct pharmacy. When I finally spoke to the pharmacist at my pharmacy, she contacted the other pharmacy and had the prescription transferred. I feel like the staff at WEC ignored phone calls and did minimal effort to resolve the issue that was caused by their error in the first place. I didn't even receive an apology for the inconvenience until I mentioned to the person who finally called me that I hadn't received any apology. When a prescription is given to a patient that's to help their eyes heal properly, you'd think the office staff would put more effort into making sure the patient is able to get their prescription. I will be looking for a new eye care provider after this experience. read more

Although I had to schedule my vision appointment a month out, I totally understand. Upon arriving I checked in via text message and was let into the office & greeted by a friendly young woman with a st pattys headband on . I was offered any of their beverages in the mini fridge ( which I thought was awesomeeeee) and was taken back to the first room less than 10 minutes later. The woman that took me back (I'm guessing a tech?) did a few tests and then we proceeded to another room and did more small vision tests. We did this maybe twice more then to drop me off in a final room to wait for the optometrist. When the optometrist arrived to my room we did a few more vision tests and reviewed over scans that were done previously. She was very nice and knowledgeable ( she mentioned she works normally at the Lawrenceville location) but I was grateful to have her help me. About 2 weeks later I received notice that my glasses were ready. I made another appointment (within the week) and picked up my new eyes. Everyone in the office was very sweet and smiley (even through mask you can tell). Definitely recommend read more

Really Bad experience with Nate the office manager who tried to charge me for another exam stating that the prescription for my glasses was a year old when in fact it was not. I learned that I had the wrong prescription when it was filled at Costco and I couldn't see out of them. They checked them and my prescription history and shared that it was very different from previously purchased glasses. I contacted Woods Eyecare and had to endure text messages for over a hour before I could get someone to call me to discuss. They stated that I would have to pay another $39 to see the dr. and correct the prescription since it had been a year - Sept 2021 since the exam but then I learned It wasn't finalized in September and they dispensed the wrong prescription and it was finalized in November which is not a year ago. I'm extremely disappointed that I was lied to and that when He/Nate couldn't use my insurance again they resorted to trying to charge me the the $39 fee. I feel that I should be given a refund for being given an incorrect prescription with no way to verify that the one they have on file for November is even the right one! Shortsighted and bad customer service! Would not recommend! read more

I just recently changed insurances. My coworker suggested Wood Eye Care. A small family business. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. It is best to schedule your appointment early!! Dr. Wood, is incredibly nice and very enthusiastic. I needed that for such an early eye appointment. They even have this survey on their website which gives you $15 off if you complete it, print it out, and bring it in. They were much cheaper than my previous eye care place. Wood Eye? Yes I would. Something decided to fly into my eyeball and no amount of flushing was doing the job. After many days of discomfort , I called Wood Eye care and they were able to squeeze me into their schedule on the same day! When I arrived there was a problem with my insurance and the staff was more than accomodating. I went to this office a month ago and everything went OK. Dr. Wood is great, but his office staff,.... not so much. When I went there a month ago, they insisted on having my medical insurance, but when I didn't give it to them, they really gave me the stink eye (like I was doing something wrong by not turning over ALL my personal information to them). Now, my wife schedules an appt a week in advance. They send her messages b/c we changed insurance. We are very busy, so she did not respond to their message, b/c she figured they could get the information when she arrived. After all, they already had the information from when I visited. She shows up on time to the appt she scheduled. They say b/c she didn't respond to the request for insurance information, they cancelled her appt! Really??! They could fit her in 2 hours later, but they would not see her when the time they had scheduled. If you make an appt, that slot should be yours. I'm just going to start going to Costco or Pearl if this is the disorganization we have to put up with to see Dr. Wood. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I had an 11:30 a.m. appointment. I left at 1:30 p.m., without ever having seen the doctor. The preliminary work was done, at noon I was left in the exam room to wait for the doctor. I finally gave up at 1:20 p.m. The office was closed for lunch - someone had to unlock the door to let me out. I am livid. I have missed more than half a days work now for nothing. My daughter came down with a small eye infection on Friday and she was leaving for a 2-week class trip the next day on Saturday. The team immediately scheduled her in during their lunch hour and arranged extra care for her while she was away. You'll never find commitment like that from a national chain. I am hesitant to write a review because there have been many good reviews and maybe it's just the pandemic/virus situation, but I have found them extremely hard to deal with. They do not answer their phone and they do not return messages that you leave. My eyeglasses which were just a change of prescription, I already had the frames, took almost am month to come back. When they came back, they were not right and I couldn't see. It took another week to get an appointment to have someone check them. When I brought them in the optician argued with me that I just needed to hold my head a specific way in order to see. Then after a bit of an argument and convincing, it seemed that the focal point was not right and that they had replaced my old lenses with some that had a very narrow area that allowed for progressive vision (which explained why I was nauseated when I tried to see and drive.) I finally got them back but then the lens popped out about 3 days later. I tried to drop them off because no one answers the phone and was told that I did not have an appointment. After a little bit of convincing they agreed to take them. They told me they would be ready on Friday 4 days away but then called and said that they would not be ready. I rescheduled for the following week but got detained at work. I have been calling trying to find a time to come in and pick them up but no one answers the phone..... This is a vicious cycle and about the worst customer service I have ever seen. I am giving them a 1 because I did have my glasses for about a week before I had problems the 2nd time but it has now been a week and a half read more

I have been seeing Dr. Jim Wood for about 25 years. I respect his professional experience and judgement; he is careful and thorough; I enjoy my time with him (even though it requires hearing about his beloved Ohio State buckeye football team :)); and I appreciate his helpful and competent staff. Today the baseline assessments were performed by Noemi who I had not met previously; very good; very efficient; very friendly to spend the time with. I have a couple of potential issues that Dr. Wood has been watching (glaucoma and cataracts). He is careful to check these conditions each year as I see him, and explain how the conditions have changed or stayed the same from the previous year. Though I do not need glasses or contacts beyond the reading glasses that i purchase in the grocery store, I like being in the presence of him and his staff so much, I find myself wishing that I needed to buy glasses from them also. Dr. Wood is great. He is supported by a very fine staff. I have observed this over enough years to know that he and the staff are genuinely good at eyecare. I am enthusiastic in recommending them to folks that need eyecare. read more

I typically don't leave negative reviews but I am truly disappointed and feel taken advantage of by the location in Lilburn. When we CALLED them, they did explain they were only taking appointments but allowed me to come in bc of my past medical history, so I definitely appreciated that and decided to take the drive 50 mins out, to get there, get the eye exam (and an additional service that I don't recall asking for) ONLY for them to tell me AT THE END that the doctor on duty is an "associate doctor" and wasn't on their liability insurance (Then why is she even here? Alone, without an insured dr present?) and therefore couldn't even give me a prescription & said she could only tell me to go to the ER. Please keep in mind that during the exam the doctor told me everything was fine, but I explained, tried to explain to her MY symptoms, I asked her if it could be a possible neurological issue, (bc of past situations) and she looked at me as if I was speaking French, but suddenly after speaking with the front desk attendee (whom I believe to be the owner's/mgmt's daughter, the one who told her she wasn't on the liability insurance) she knew of Neurology.... Soooo after a 50 min ride, half a tank of gas, an hour spent, and NO HELP! I STILL HAD TO PAY $150!!! They should have at least let it be known that the doctor on duty could not write prescriptions, instead wasting people's time, and taking their money! At the very LEAST she could've offered a discount because THAT WAS THEIR FAULT! But nope! Oh well, we didn't help you, give us your money. Smh. Very ghetto, do not recommend. read more

My overall experience at Wood's Eye Clinic is very positive. The reminder e-mail that appointment time was near was very helpful. Making the appointment was also very easy. The various exams I believe were thorough and informative. Dr. Woods, as usual, was his bubbly self and went over all of the various test results with me. Then the exam itself was done and it too seemed thorough. In the end no new glasses were needed which meant I was not up sold something I did not need. Overall, a good experience. 10+ year patient, and just completed an annual review. Equipment upgrade for retinal scan was impressive. Staff was prompt and professional. My Wife has rare, complex eye issues. Great doctor. Horrible staff. The doctor makes us keep coming back, but the issues with the front desk staff has really been a problem.

Very pleasant experience. Upscale, yet comfortable office, wonderful staff, super doctor, and competitive pricing. They even had a sample pair of contacts in my prescription (which is rare) so they were able to check the sizing on my eyes the same day of the exam.....so no return visits!!!!!! They ship your contacts to your home or office, free of charge. I would DEFINATELY recommend. read more

I went to Dr. Wood about 5 years ago on recommendation of a friend. Being a techy, I was extremely impressed with their various exam equipment. A staff member took me through all the testing (2 or 3 different rooms) explaining each test and what to expect. I was then escorted to Dr. Woods office where different interesting and instructional videos were playing on the computer screen. Dr. Wood arrived within about 10 minutes and practically bounced through the door with enthusiasm. (I've only a couple jobs in my life I was that happy about.:-) He went over the results of each test describing its relevance to me. Afterward he escorted me to the front where a staff member walked me through all the options for glasses. After 5 years away, I returned to Dr. Wood last month. I lost my job and insurance and had been using 'cheaper' optometrists. "Cheaper" being the key word; not inexpensive; found out I was getting what I paid for. Again, received excellent service and exams and got glasses that make my vision remarkably clear; more so than any in the last 4 years. As another reviewer commented, I had heard of (but never experienced) poor attitudes on the front desk. My wife continued to go there even though I did not and told me about an incongruent event a couple years ago, though not prevalent. Apparently this issue was resolved because I experienced nothing but harmony amongst the staff. NOTE: If you are a sports fan, you get an extra bonus of seeing a plethora of pictures and paraphernalia. His wife is also an optometrist with a children's practice across town. read more

Such an awesome business! I had the best eyecare experience when I came to Wood Eye care!. Even though I arrived 10 minutes late, the staff was able to get me in quickly and thoroughly check my eyes out. Dr. Wood, is AWESOME!! So Friendly and warm, he made me feel right at home and didn't rush my experience and really took his time to examine my eyes out. It's great to see someone in a field that they are truly happy in and it made me feel confident in their ability to care for me. Dr, Wood addressed all of my eyecare needs and I was in and out of that bad boy within 40 minutes max ( because I was getting contacts and glasses as well as checking out my cornea to make sure I hadn't scratched it.) The staff was genuine, fun and professional, a secret recipe for success! This is now my go to for all of my eyecare needs. I don't mind paying a little bit more money for a great experience, which mind you, I'm a college student so my budget is very limited. read more

I really love Dr. Wood and his staff! I had to schedule weeks in advance, but I find that is the case with most optometrists in the area. They will fit you in quickly for an emergency though. Everyone was friendly and professional. Was seen at my appointment time, doctor took his time to give me a thorough exam and to answer all my questions, staff was courteous and efficient. I don't have vision insurance and the glasses there are waaayyy out of my price range, but the staff respects that, no sales pressure or disapproval once you tell them you just want the prescription. They will charge a fee to troubleshoot or adjust prescriptions filled elsewhere, which only seems fair and if I have any trouble with my glasses I will take advantage of that. If I had better insurance I would get them there as I'm sure they would do a much better job with them, but you can only do what you can do. Much better and more thorough exam than I would get at the local Costco where I get the prescriptions filled. read more
