This would have been the second time getting his tongue tie cut because the first Dr we went to was a waste of time. Dr. Walnarr didn't seem to care or have any opinion about his tongue or lip tie. I told him about my breastfeeding troubles and he was so nonchalant about the whole ordeal. I know the decision is mine as the mother, however, I'm not a doctor and need expert advice. He was basically like "if you get it, cool. If you don't, cool." However, with Dr. Kollmann, the minute you step into the office it just feels alive. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable (did not get that from Walnarr) and Dr. Kollmann, himself, was a gem! We were walked to a room and asked questions about why we were there and the lady was so sweet and understanding. He went through full detail with me about how the lip and tongue tie can affect breastfeeding and how the frenectomy can help. He showed pictures and videos about how the baby tongue works during suckling and how a tongue tie prohibits motion NEEDED to demand a supply. After the frenectomy, which was a 10minute laser procedure that I did not see, he encouraged me to breastfeed my son for as long as I need!! Other BF moms out there know how special He then went into detail about what exercises to do and what stretches we had to do to keep his lip/tongue tie from growing back or healing improperly. He gave us the tools we need to get started and although it killed me to do that to my LO for the first few days, my BF relationship with my son is thriving. The price I paid for the frenectomy and follow ups is the most bang for your buck out there. The staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly. I had some very very bad experiences with other dentists as a kid. So when we found Dr. Hartmann, I was happily relieved. My parents eventually switched over to him, too, about 10yrs ago when they realized how bad their previous dentist was (couldn't listen to me, had to find out for themselves...) He's nice and understanding, especially if you're a fearful patient, or have issues like a small mouth and strong gag reflex. And he doesn't yell if you have an unexpected allergic reaction to the novacaine and get sick all over the room. And he's got a treasure box with stickers and little toys for the kids after their appt's. I was very sad when I got to be too old for a prize.

Cons: Do not go to them if you need custom work done. I started the process of an implant on front tooth 10/2022. They could not get the shape or shade of my implant correct to match my other front tooth. I have had to drive to Arlington Heights twice for a Color match- those goes 2 hours of my time, each time. Two times they had to drill off the implant to put a new one in. This is the 4th time going back to have this "fixed" and the implant color STILL doesn't match my color of my other teeth and now my tooth next to it is longer than the implant I get it it's my front tooth it's hard to match to the other front but when I suggested crowing the one next to it to match the doctor said no. I was also told that due to "my case" they will no longer do front crowns without doing 2 or 4 of the front. They also made me sign a waiver. Way to make me feel like shit for something they should have done right the first time. Have they been accommodating in trying to fix it each time- yes- but this has been a joke trying to get it fixed. I tried to be understanding but it's still not right and I'm not going back for a 5th time. So their goes 3k that I had to pull out of savings down the drain and I will have to have another dentist fix it.

They also referred me to a great orthodontist who I visit fairly regularly for maintenance with my braces.

Me being new to the area we searched for the closest place and found Pebblewood Dental. They took my mom in right away and she saw Dr. Mendiola. My mom was hoping for something temporary until she returned home. Dr. Mendiola was honest with her in telling her that he did not want to charge her for a temporary fix and if she just kept it clean in the meantime to get it fixed with her dentist back home she should be just fine. Also, he did not charge my mom for the exam since he was unable to provide any type of service other then the exam. My mom and I were shocked. He was not looking out to just make money off of us, he was honest and caring! He was also very thorough and knowledgeable in explaining as to why the temporary fix wasn't necessary! Also, because of this great experience, I decided to return for myself. I was unable to find care for my 11 month old and Dr. Mendiola told me it was perfectly fine to bring him in. I can't explain to you how wonderful and patient all the staff members were to me and my son. Lets just say I will be hiring a babysitter for my next visit for my personal sanity but if I ever needed to bring him with me again I can trust that I have a wonderful staff to make my son and I feel comfortable.
