Recently had my 1st surgery through Thompson health surgical center and it was such a great calming experience, at first my anxiety was kicking in and the staff did a fantastic job at being welcoming and showing care for me throughout the entire time. Thank you all from the assistants to the doctor and all the staff for the care. Made my first experience of surgery the best. Would recommend anyone to them. Ridiculous wait times. Mom had to go there for severe dehydration and still waiting OVER 8 HOURS before these clowns would even talk to her. In fact the incompetent er staff was doing everything possible to avoid helping anyone. This place is a malpractice suit waiting to happen. THIEVES working there! An expensive piece of jewelry was stolen from my incapacitated loved one, who later died at Thompson Hospital. It was a solid gold charm of a catholic saint. The hospital's response was that their policy dictates they are not responsible for belongings so BEWARE they can steal things from your dead or unconscious relatives without consequence. read more

After coming to the ER at the request of my Doctor, I literally sat in the waiting room for over 3 hours when presenting with shortness of breath and tightness in chest. Inner action with staff was not friendly and was not seen by a physician. I would not recommend going to this particular hospital because there patient care was not taken care of. read more

It's very sad that on a Sunday morning the Er is full and the waiting room is full . Have to wait 2 hours to be seen . People throwing up on the floor. No sense of urgency at all. Like you can't hire more people ? No wonder people put down Thompson . Makes sense now . read more

Not very competent in the Doctors at FF Thompson. They took the comment of an 85 yr. old man with short term memory loss, that the Doctors all agree has less than 3 months to live, that he wants them to "keep him alive, with whatever means necessary...." although the Health Care Proxy that he and his Executor filled out while he was in sound mind and body, stated that he did not want ANY life sustaining measures if the time came. Makes me think, the hospitals financial situation is more important than the patients wishes? I guess Health care Proxies don't mean anything. read more

I have severe pain at 9:30 at night....U of R, Highland, Rochester General or FF Thompson. So glad I picked FF.Thompson. Their entire staff was very professional and I felt genuinely cared for. The receptionist, triage nurse, nurse and doctor were terrific. I think the bad reviews are from people who see this type of service as most a "hotel"experience. read more

I love Thompson. Yes, you might wait 4 hours to be seen. But if it would've take 4 at Thompson, it would have been a longer wait at SMH. The waiting room is 1000% calmer. The doctors are top notch. Like all hospitals today, there are staffing shortages but it's hard to tell anytime I've been there. Top notch care! They need a dentist and a pediatrics. But besides that, it's great. I'd go there before Strong, Clifton or Geneva. read more

If you have an emergency, I suggest you go anywhere else. My husband was taken by ambulance because he couldn't walk. The pain he was in was excruciating. When I arrived, he was in a holding area. They tried to leave him in a wheelchair, but the pain was too much. He was left in the holding area for several hours. The doctor came in, asked what was going on and poked him in a couple of place, then proclaimed a diagnosis of sciatica. A nurse arrived with 2 advil and a flexor. An hour or so later they brought us discharge papers and announced he could leave. When he tried to stand to put on his shoes, the pain was too much. I rang the buzzer for assistance, several times. The receptionist came in and I asked for the doctor. She said she'd get him but that we needed to leave that room because it was flagged for another patient. I asked how I was suppose to do that since he couldn't walk. The doctor came back and said that even though it hurts, he should be able to walk. He even dragged my husband around the room to prove that it wasn't that bad. My husband collapsed back on to the bed. I asked how I was supposed to take him if he can't walk and the doctor offered to help me out him in the car. At that point he left and I never saw him again. They readmitted him, brought him a stronger pain pill and disappeared. After another hour, I finally had enough. I marched up to the receptionist and told her I wanted him discharged and waiting at the door while I pulled up the car. My plan was to take him to another emergency room but there was a winter storm and the pain was too great for him to sit in the car that long. That was 2 days ago and he's been unable to move without pain. My husband is 63 years old, diabetic, with high blood pressure. The care was substandard at best. read more

The lady at Pt for Thompson Health in the old Wegmans plaza is very rude! She complains about employees. Is rude to patients and refuses to do more than sit at the desk and gossip with her coworkers. She has made it clear she does not like military. I wonder if it's the same lady in the review below. read more

This is on a receptionist at front desk ..everyone else is great..but her. Wow .She is extremely rude. And greets you with attitude. She yells her questions so everyone standing bow knows your personal information. Pam also asks ' you have only medicare?" Yes ..she repeats You do the have any other insurance than Medicare! " Im.not the least bit interested in her opinion of how I handle my personal life. Her only job is to check patients in.. she does NOT have the disposition for this job..I understand everyone has a bad day. However this is not the first encounter with her. I mentioned her attitude later to a sibling, is her name Pam? Yeah..how did you know? Yeah I also found her to be quite rude. Would love for her supervisor to listen in some time. I love my doctor, his staff all are awesome. She doesn't really belong there. read more

I have terrible stories in regards to this hospital that span decades. However, I was unlucky enough to have a bulged disc in my back in April. The ambulance took me to Thompson. Shockingly enough, my visit started out great. Immediately in the ED room, the doctor in to see me in 5 minutes or so. They gave me pain meds. I had a MRI. Noting significant enough to be admitted. My visit was good, until they wanted me to leave. My boyfriend left to swap vehicles as I was told I would be discharged in an hour or so. Apparently they changed their mind, because 20 minutes later they were putting me in a wheel chair and sending me out to the entrance to the waiting room although my ride was 30 minutes away. This probably would also have been fine if I did not start projectile vomiting as soon as I got into the wheel chair. They pushed me past the nurses desk while I was vomiting. They pushed me through the waiting room while I was vomiting. They left me in the little foyer of the waiting room by myself while I waited a half hour for my ride to arrive. The administrator behind the admissions desk looked out at me at one point while I was vomiting. She kept on sitting there though. I received no help from anyone. There I sat in the entry way completely high on Dilauded and violently ill with my purse set on my knee where the orderly left it and an unlocked wheel chair while I vomited. I am talking severely vomiting. Not spitting up, not nauseous. Projectile vomiting into a little pink basin. Luckily I was too sick to try to get up. I did not fall out of the chair. However, I did call and put in a complaint which they "looked into". I told the woman on the phone that I did not anything from them, but rather I had hoped that my complaint would be a learning opportunity. I know that there are cameras everywhere in the ED. I asked for them to be pulled and viewed. It took a couple of months, but I just got my response back and it does not sit well with me. They basically broomed me. Now I am wishing that I had complained to the Board of Health as I was told to do by many people in health care. I am a relatively healthy 53 year old. Be sure if you end up at this ED with a loved one, that someone is there to advocate for them until you leave. There is no one there to care about your well being. Even though this hospital has been taken over by the U of R, they are still the same substandard ED that they have always been. read more

It's always a terrible experience coming to this ER. The main NP who was overseeing my visit flat out admitted they lacked the ability to ultrasound a body part I was having an issue with and instead chose to ultrasound a different body part to come to the conclusion that nothing was wrong with the body part that brought me to the ER. I was also asked to provide a urine sample which is normal but I was then asked to bring it up to the front desk of the ER upon completion. You can imagine the confusion on the faces of the ladies at the front desk as they asked each other "can he just leave this here?" until the NP who instructed me on the urine sample appeared and took it. read more

This hospital is an absolute joke. My fiancé and I came in after he repeatedly was throwing up blood and the front desk didn't even take the situation seriously. We waited for a bed for almost 45 minutes and he was in extreme pain. We finally get placed in a bed and then I have to take turns with my mother in law to be in the room. How ridiculous is that? I was told that's their "policy." After 3.5 hours or so they finally gave my fiancé pain meds. He was in agony for 3.5 hours!!! Then they come to find out after 5 hours or so it's his pancreas and he has acute pancreatitis. They end up admitting him. Mind you he's still in the ER with no bed available. The nurses have no hospitality. They were not accommodating what so ever. They were rude and started problems with me. The nurse even was out on the floor cussing and screaming at the top of her lungs about the policy of just one of us being allowed in the room. How professional is that? Then finally forward to the next day we get a room in their observation department and then I'm told oh you can't stay the night, it's "policy." I do not recommend you to ever come here. A horrible and stressful scary situation was made into an even more stressful situation and they do not care how you feel or to accommodate. Run far away from here. We will never be coming back!!! Went to the ER for an accident that occurred in the evening. Despite the fact that I was treated and released while nighttime cab service was still available, they waited so long to give me discharge instructions I missed all cabs and was stuck there overnight until 6am when cabs started back up. I told them several times I wasn't from the area, was out for a wedding and didn't know anyone but the groom(zilla), and had no way to get back to my B&B except by cab but the staff there still made no effort to get me out on time. I also had a skin reaction because they used latex on me after I told them I had a sensitivity. I learned my lesson and will turn down future wedding invitations if they're out of state from now on. read more

An elderly couple were left in the ER waiting room for six hours after their primary sent them there urgently. I have been a long-term advocate for Thompson and I am extremely disappointed with what has happened today. read more

In a word...Terrible. Going to keep this short and too the point. Grotesquely irresponsible in assuring people can make appointments at the infusion center. -NO CALLS BACK -NO ANSWERS FROM A LIVING BREATHING PERSON I was trying for a solid MONTH to make an appointment before I had to move across country, NO RESPONSES AT ALL...so now me (as well my partner) are in excruciating pain because none of these people could be bothered to just answer the DAMN phone and help us make an appointment! -NO SYMPATHY -NO EMPATHY -NO RESPONSIBILITY I guess since the receptionists don't have to deal with kind of DEBILITATING pain, they have no need to be understanding to people who do! so, while I'm waiting to get to a new infusion center where I moved too, get new health care...doctors, all the garbage, I have to deal with this pain...and throughout the holidays, no less. Upon getting, the nurse who apparently hates having to work weekends, told her "it's just a toe, and you shouldn't have come for that.". Uhm, it's a weekend, and urgent care is CLOSED! Nurse, either adjust to weekends(I've had to, and know it sucks), ask for a new shift assignment, or find a different line of work! read more

I came on Wednesday night for a lot of pain in chest and headache. They fixed my headache quick and it took a bit for my chest. I got right in (11pm) wasn't very busy. I got out and they said to come back if anything got worse. FYI - The night staff was awesome I came back bc it hurts worse. I have a high tolerance for pain. I never go to the doctors for anything. I know somethings wrong. I tell them how mich it hurts and where. I sit in the waiting room for 2ish hours (expected that if not longer) 3 or 4 people who came in after me got in before me... ok I get that it goes by severity. One lady that got in before was fine watching tv and talking on the phone with her friend. As soon as the nurse comes over she fakes sick/ weak.... She gets in before me. The second girl that got in before me was walking fine (to and from the bathroom) and chatting with her parents and seemed fine and then randomly gets in before me. The third lady was older. She told her daughter she was fine (I was sitting next to them) but the daughter walked up and told the nurse that she needed to lay down so she got in a head of me. I'm still sitting here hurting and uncomfortable but not showing anything. (Over 3 hours now) After all this my tip to you is to say you have cheat pain and say it's an 8 or 9. Obviously idk what was wrong with the people that got in before me. I did sit with them each for an hour or so and notice they weren't in that much pain until the nurse came over and they put the act on. Put an act on to get in faster. I will say I like the nursing staff. I rated 3 bc of how juvenile you must be to manipulate the nurses to get in before someone else. Staff is good but the system is broken. I shouldn't have to lie to get seen sooner. Good luck! read more

Generally a great place to get skilled medical care, short of Strong. However, when you forward patient notes to a new specialist, be VERY careful about including emotive digs about disabled patients, who sometimes miss appointments due to weather/transport. Inappropriate! Able-ist thinking shows a lack of proper sophistication, and the disabled community considers it highly offensive. New thinking for a new century. read more

Went in with severe pain in back and stomach. Vomiting and light fever. They took over an hour to admit me. Then once in the room they didn't give me anything for the nausea nor the discomfort. Went unmedicated for 3 hours. Finally started an IV zofran for getting sick.. They were about to send me home until I told them I couldn't urinated. They still refused to give me any sort of pain medication. Was taken to get a Ct scan low an behold kidney stone large and obstructing. After another half hour of extreme pain I was finally given pain meds. I'm aware that sadly people abuse hospitals for drugs. To not be trusted from the get go and treated that way is awful. This is the second time this has happened to me. Once I would have forgotten about it and let it go. Just be prepared to wait a long time to actually get help and not because of staffing but mistrust. read more

I never expected to find such a modern facility in a small town resort like Canadaigua, NY. I was own vacation with family on Canandaigua Lake, the staff was excellent and knowledgable when I came in with an infection, everyone had a positive attitude from the front desk staff all the way thought to checking out...highly recommend this facility! read more

I've been here 3 times in 3 years. The most recent visit was a late night 90 mph jaunt to the ER after my 18 month old son got a nickel stuck in his throat. The Kevin Spacey-looking Doctor, x-ray tech and nurses were all friendly and professional. Turns out the little guy puked the five cent piece into my wife's pocket on the ride up so all ended well. My other 2 visits involved arthroscopes and my poorly designed knees; no complaints or indignities were noted on either occasion (at least while I was conscious) . read more

I went to the ER in pretty bad condition with severe back pain and headache, and nonstop coughing. They got me into a room right away because I had extremely high blood pressure. The doctors and nurses in the ER were wonderful but they could not find out what was happening to me so I was admitted to the hospital for a couple of days. That is when the hell began. No one knew what they were doing. The night nurse had a melt down because the big bully that came into the room to help my roommate go to the bathroom got mad because I asked her to help me. And I guess she let that wonderful nurse know that she had to help her patient. And I mean she was a big mean bully to her and everyone came to her aid. The bully aide was yelling all night long. In the early morning when the shift was over I guess a staff member came in to try and calm everyone down. The next night the bully entertained me all night by having relations with her girlfriend in the hallway outside of my room and I could see everything. When the noticed that I could see them kissing they then went to holding hands, laughing and skipping hand in hand down the hallway. The next day came when they changed my room a couple of times. Then to top it off the next morning Dr. Ingrid Wohlgemuth gave me some type of IV medication that, as she said, put me in a real "stuper". And they could not release me until night time as I could not even function. At discharge I asked nurse Jennifer M. what medication I was given because I wanted to make sure I never had it again. She said she had no idea and would not check the computer that was right by her. The story ends with a discharge from Dr. Wohlgemuth saying that I had a kidney stone and was presented a packet of info on how to strain for a stone. I was told on my follow up with my MD that I did not have a kidney stone.End result, stay away from Wohlgemuth, please. If you are looking for entertainment, I give it 5 stars. read more

My boyfriend is in there for excruciating pain. He has a fractured disk and a pinched nerve in his back. It's been over an hour for him to see someone. They don't even care that he's in pain. It's starting to go down his leg. I called to say something and I just got hung up on. This place is a joke!!!! Don't ever go here if you have an emergency. They threatened to kick him out just because he needed to sit up. No one cares at this hospital. read more
