Well we got in just in time for last call,, so we were sat right away and had to order quick quick. It's proper etiquette since they were gracious enough to even seat us. So we did a scan scan on their menu and I went with a Canadian Red Ale and Steak Bites for an Appetizer. My one colleague ordered the Chips and my other colleague did the Yam Fries. Ya kno, food to pick at while drinking alcohol. Yam Fries: Similar to sweet potato fries, these guys are pretty darn good. Chips: Perfectly crispy, like the ones that come is a bag from the grocery, but is actually made in house. I adore these and I want to definitely fabricate these at the house one day. Steak Bites: Perfectly cooked bite sized beef pieces. The focaccia was a perfect match and the Aioli is sublime. It's perfect with my red Ale. Yes I broke my, "No Hotel Restaurant" rule. BUT it was -30°c/-23°f windchill outside ok. We weren't exactly prepared for an arctic expedition. So I think the exception stands. Plus this place is amazing. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!!

Wow the food here is delicious! Service, meh I had the coconut leak soup, which had great depth of flavor. The rosemary Canadian beef tenderloin which was cooked to perfection and otherwise juicy and tender. And for dessert...honestly don't remember what it's called but it was a chocolate banana, caramel tart or in other words a slice of heaven! For this dessert alone you should visit this restaurant...if you love bananas more so! The service wasn't bad, it was just slow. From the person who showed me to my table to when I received my food to paying for the meal, the entire process was slow. That said, though they were all friendly, provided good insight into the menu. I don't know, I'm not from this area and as an American perhaps my standards (for restaurant service ) is inappropriate for this area/town. If you're not the least bit sensitive about service you should visit Thompson for the great food!

    Great fish and chips.

I stay at the Hyatt frequently. Thomson's is one of my favorite restaurants to eat and relax at. Great food, ambiance and service. Trouville, I probably spelled his name wrong is always a great bartender. I'm looking forward to my next stay the Hyatt so I can go to Thomson's.

Great atmosphere, located in the Hyatt on Stephen Ave, this restaurant will not disappoint. The food here was excellent with a number of alberta inspired dishes, at a reasonable price point.

    Pretty good cold section

Thomsons is the main breakfast/brunch buffet inside the Hyatt Calgary, and its one of the better ones I've tried. It is spacious, has a cool Western decor, and has a number of good items not common in hotel brunch buffets I've been to. Its on the pricey side at upwards of 30 CAD/pp though. My faves: Pesto skin-on-salmon: Pleasantly shocked that fish on a buffet line can be so soft, juicy, and well seasoned. Roasted Veggies: Good variety here, including white asparagus. Roast Beef: Never too early to have this! Well seasoned, tender, and so good with horseradish. Corn Quinoa Risotto: Very good. Calgary is famous for their beef and corn. This dish is a healthier version of the Italian version and had a nice, pleasant sweetness from the corn. I didn't like the yogurt parfait too much - yogurt was on the tart side despite the excellent toppings. Their dessert section was pretty impressive. In honor of Calgary Pride Celebration they had a nice rainbow Panna Cotta that was smooth and sweet.

We just went for dinner last night, the Christmas buffet dinner was amazing- I will post photos here, you cannot have any problem with the food whatsoever... My favourite thing by far was the roast beef which is always been my favourite meal and I stood in line twice to get one, they ran out just before I had my plate filled but fortunately they had a replacement within minutes so that was good and the desserts are unbelievable... The sticky toffee pudding with the butterscotch sauce was spectacular... However the cleaning staff should definitely check their bathrooms more often, when I was there last night four out of five stalls were filthy and there was toilet paper all over the floor. In total the meal cost me over $500 which is a lot of money for three people and no alcohol.... You would expect cleaner bathrooms for this price. Plus the lobby is really really really tiny but obviously that's something that's too late to fix. Also the cattlecall for the 6 PM sitting for Christmas buffet dinner was absolutely crazy- in the lineup went in two different directions with no organization and the wait is very very long and confused and considering a lot of people still have Covid and nobody was wearing masks ..... pretty terrible first impression

I've been here a bunch of times but only for the breakfast and brunch buffets on the weekends. Its always been consistent in the quality and variety of the items. On the breakfast side of things there are fresh eggs Benedict, waffles, and pancakes made to order and brought to your table. There is an omelet station, traditional pans of bacon, sausage, eggs, French toast and hash browns. Also is salmon and cream cheese, bagels & toast, yogurt and granola, fruit, fresh juice and smoothie shots, cereals and pastries. I'm not a fan of their coffee (fix the coffee, it's bitter!) but the orange juice is good. On the brunch buffet is a carving station, mashed potatoes & gravy, soups, buns & rolls, cold salads, pastas, charcuterie items, pickles & olives, and a dessert bar with custards, pastries, and a candy bar. The service is amazing. Ringo is the best server I've ever had in any establishment. Ask to be sat in his section, you will thank me for it later.

My boyfriend and I attended when they were having their burlesque show and it was so much fun! I wasn't sure what to expect but the dancers and the music definitely kept us entertained. The food and the drinks were amazing as well as their service. I'll certainly return!

For the owner, I can't say the same He has asked me "so, how can we can we improve at Betty Lou's". No matter what you say, it doesn't really matter. The owner seems to weaponize feedback, which is completely toxic. Sure, you're the owner, absolute respect to you for making this fair in this industry, it's accomplishment. However、please do not ask serving or bartending staff if you don't want genuine feedback. The owner will act against you. We requested one time that Blaine (the owner) does not come on floor if he's had more than two drinks and if he's not dressed in proper uniform. As an owner, sure, to some extent that's fine. But when you threaten a server, who is still new, you will fire them based off how long you're doing menu tours is not acceptable. If you didn't know, menu tours are just running through the drinks and food, which can take a considerable amount of time when you are busy. Now imagine the owner is so disconnected from the reality of the service, is also five drinks deep in the office. The owner will award you back off a few good days, but if you have one review where a customer believes you didn't believe you delivered "a personable experience" you're done. Now, that seems rough, but imagine an owner who values complete bullshit over actual truth. But I mean hey, would I work an environment where the owner can flip a switch, absolutely. It doesn't matter So hey, if you get hired at Betty Lou's, got bless you You can have a good few days, but ultimately, it doesn't matter. There is no HR, no general manger, you know why? They've left, to better and more complete opportunities that Betty Lou's cannot offer. If you're looking for any place to work, please, reconsider Betty Lou's. If you're looking for a place to drink, please reconsider Betty Lou's
