usually I love this location! there's 2 specific people that are on shift that are always so kind to me. sometimes others on shift lack greeting, but one time I had an expired item and they let me trade out! Today unfortunately, I saw 1 of the usual women I see and a newer employee I've never seen before. When he saw me with my water, his face dropped, he looked as if I had ruined his mood? I tried giving a smile because I didn't think it was purposeful, but then he also didn't speak, and left me with a "you're set." and a cold stare. maybe I misunderstood but it just kind of made me feel a little less welcome than usual. over all, the employees are very helpful and are always doing there jobs, I hope to leave a higher review next time. :) read more

Today I was with my aunt who had a tire on her car that looked to be almost flat. We were nearby when we noticed this so we came to Thornton's to get air. The air machine only accepts credit cards. I was having trouble getting the air machine to accept my credit card so I flagged down an employee that I saw walking in the back lot of the service area. A nice man named Troy came to my rescue! The sun was so bright it was really hard to read the air machine to see what the problem was. Even trying to shade the screen with our hand, the sun was reflecting on it. Once the credit card swipe went through, there was no mistaking that air was available and hissing out of the hose! He helped air up the tire and said we should have 34 pounds in the tire and it was registering only 9 when we began! That was so kind of Troy to help us two older ladies (ages 60+ and 85+) with the air. He recommended that my aunt go directly to Discount Tires so they can see if she needed a new tire or not. It was like we had a guardian angel helping us out with a "self service item" like air. It's not like it's a full service station as in the old days gone by. This is my favorite gas station in the area. It's well lit, centrally located and clean. The prices are always competitive, it's open 24 hours and the staff members are personable. As depressing as gas prices can be, it's a joy to stop here. The pump has never caused me to go inside for a receipt because it's out of paper. And there are at least ten pumps so there's rarely a wait. I go inside the store from time to time to get chips or a beverage. The store sells everything from candy, fountain drinks, OTC medicine, bananas, krispy kreme donuts and lottery tickets. read more

Convenient, EXTREMELY well lit, and smells like soft pretzels and pixie sticks mixed together. I'll let you decide if that last one's a pro or a con. Decent gas prices along with a genuinely friendly staff are reasons I'd stop at this gas station instead of others in the area. Also, they have extra wide pumping lanes so you don't have to worry about your car getting side swiped by the eager guy driving through the middle of the gas aisle. Plenty of room for you, the guy pumping on the opposite side of you, and the guy plowing down the median area. Will I stop here again? Probably... and Maybe at the same time. Probably, for gas and because of everything mentioned above. And maybe, because maybe 10 seconds after I pulled out of here I found out another gas station just up the street carries ChocoTacos... and, well- I just can't pass those babies up (so rare nowadays- Whyyyy?) I'm weird. I like the faint smell of gasoline in the air after putting gas in my car. It's kind of gross, but I strangely like it. Only for a few seconds, anyway. I got a whiff of gas when I put some in my car here this morning. Oddly delightful. This is one of my favorite gas stations. The place is well-lit, the overhead shelter keeps you dry from the rain, gas is cheaper than other places nearby, pumps are quick, lines are few, and the location is incredibly convenient for me - the road out of my neighborhood literally goes straight here. I also like that the gas prices displayed on the bright sign are the real prices. They don't trick you into thinking they're really low and then putting "with car wash" in tiny letters below. Nope. Always come to this location and also roselle for gas. Like everyone else is saying it is literally the cheapest you can find gas. My wife and I have a costco membership and if you're just using unleaded it's definitely worth coming here. Never had any waits or problems and I fill up every week, 52 weeks a year. Not to mention they have sweet deals if you download their rewards app and sweepstakes that you can enter in from time to time. Never won anything yet, but fingers crossed! Every Thorntons I've been at has amazing staff members that are super polite. You'd be surprised, I don't think I'd be very cherry cooped in a gas station all day/night but their staff never misses a beat and they're always on their toes. Keep up the great work! read more

If I felt a gas station should receive 5 stars, this place would get them. But at the end of the day, it's a gas station. The pumps fill fast, the station is clean, the prices are the cheapest around, the drink prices are cheap, and the clerks on staff are very friendly. I basically live in my car, (No I'm not homeless...) I just work, live, play and have family at all different points of the Chicagoland area. This means I am constantly using convenience stores and gas stations as my personal grocery store as well as for gasoline... I am always on the lookout for clean friendly gas stations. This is one of them! They always have good sales on pop and energy drinks...and even candy. The cashiers are nice and attentive and it is always clean. Not to mention that their gas prices seem to always lower than your local BP. Support the good ol' USA.. they are operate out of Louisville, KY and started in Indiana...I think that is closer than Britain! read more

When I remember to get gas on my way to work I always go here. The price of gas is usually the same as the surrounding gas stations (and let's be honest... gas is expensive now no matter where you go.) There is tons of room at each pump and to get around the pumps. The store part is always clean and organized. The few times I have used the bathroom it is always clean. But the best part is the guy behind the counter. I think he is the owner but I am not sure. He is always there, friendly and upbeat... something I need in the AM. He calls all the guys "my friend" and women "dear" which I thought would annoy me but I like it. He has no idea who I am but every time I go in to buy something he treats me and everyone else in there like old friends. Even if the gas was ten cents more a gallon compared to their neighbors I think I would still go there. read more

It's my go to station only because of the location. It's convenient. Somebody needs to teach them how to install pump hoses!!!!! The past couple months they can't manage to line up the drop properly so the fuel nozzle swivel allows the nozzle to bend properly in line to match up to the fuel filler on the car. You end up manhandling the hose in order to bend it around to insert the nozzle in the fuel filler. Somebody please educate these people how to replace hoses properly! read more

This is definitely my number one gas station to go to. They are inexpensive all across the board. It's a large gas station and you rarely ever have to wait for a pump to open up. If you have to get something from inside, the line is never slow and the staff is always on their A game. read more

I often buy gasoline from this station when in the area. I was encouraged to obtain a Thorntons Discount Card. On 6 Mar15 I stopped there, first asked if I would have 10( off per gallon. The clerk at the counter told me yes I would, with my card. After I filled up my car's gas tank I went back into the store to pay and receive my 10 cent discount. I was then told I wouldn't get the discount with my card. I angrily told this clerk she was dishonest; paid under protest and left. I've never understood people who say one thing and then do another. read more

08-07-12 I just got gas at the Thornton's #16 in Bloomingdale and a cup of coffee at 8:15am this morning. I always get my gas from that station. No any more though. While driving into the store, I noticed a Bloomingdale police car, on their lot, watching cars. As I was pumping gas, I noticed another customer (hopefully no longer a customer though, after I had a conversation with her) pulling in to Thornton's and the police car put on its lights. I walked into the station to get some coffee and questioned the clerk there if he was aware that a policeman was on Thornton's private property and harassing customers and other vehicles driving down the road. He responded that the station allows the police to do that. As I was talking to him, the female driver overheard our conversation as she was coming into the station to get some coffee and she confirmed that she was getting a speeding ticket. Is Thornton's getting a cut-of-the-action from Bloomingdale for the money the police are making from harassing their customers? My guess is, they're not. All they're doing is angering customers who are well aware of the fact that police can't come onto private property without permission. I told the girl "Don't patronize this store anymore! They'll get the message real quick when they see their income dropping!" She agreed. Even passerby's who aren't customers the day they get pulled over will make a mental-note that Thornton's was allowing police to tag cars on their property. if I could leave no stars I would. i was there about 2 months ago and the woman cash attendant in the afternoon saw i was in a rush and as she rung me up i paid $10 cash and $10 on my card well she charged my card $100 so i see it later as i told her no receipt was fine as i try to help the environment however i can. i naturally call the bank so they investigate. well as you can guess my money was not returned as thortojs reported they had no overage from the station in the register that day. if they were honest and trustworthy i wouldnt of had an issue. now i have to play csi chicago to get my money reimbursed. shame on this gas station probably ripping people off year round. avoid this station. their gas weights feel off even. save your time money and your cars life go elsewhere! read more

The convenience factor of items, like coffee, snacks, and cigarettes is great, considering this location is so close to my home. That being said, I will not be venturing this way if I don't have to. For the last few months, this became my morning stop 3-6 times a week, depending on my schedule. It has always been annoying not being greeted, and as you set your stuff down and try to tell them what else you would like you get cut off with "will that be all for you today" but that can be overlooked if it is your first visit. When you are on "regular customer" status, it would be nice to get some recognition that you more than likely will be getting your daily purchase (same each time I am in, might I add) Only one worker has made me feel welcome, and if I see her, and only her behind the counter, I will stop to say hello and make a purchase, but this location will no longer be a daily routine. Thank you to the other rude, and un-delightful employees of this location. I will add, I managed a convenience store for several years, and may be a bit biased. However, I was extremely involved in how my employees treated ALL customers, and took pride in having one of the most friendly and corteous teams around. It is quite irritating the direction this world is going in when you can't even get a smile, or recognition, from a place that USED to be a regular stop. read more
