Overall clean, spacious, and well kept camp ground. Lots of amenities including restrooms/showers, pool, playground, tennis courts, lake entry space. Trees throughout help provide shade. Lots of folks opt to tent golf carts to get around, but the space is quite walkable as well. read more

I've been here a few times, as my Godparents have a Thousand Trails membership and RV camp here and at other locations often. There is lots to do and it's always a good time - Swimming, Basketball, Lake Fishing, Tennis, Corn Hull, Shoot Pool, TV, Indoor Game Center/Clubhouse, Fitness Center and more! There is a cafe with a seemingly nice menu. Never tried the food though. Nice to chat with fellow neighboring campers. It's a beautiful community. They could use more signage to help campers locate their aisle and spot, but other than that it's fine. Entrance is secured and we've never encountered issues with hook ups. Ouch. They put us out on our own as first timers. Ended up in a muddy area with mostly full timers. Only one person on duty at the gate. Absolutely no help. We had reserved and paid for 2 more nights for our return trip a week later. We burned those nights rather than return to this place. We are looking for a good place in the area. This certainly was not it. After our stsy we were hounded with sales calls to get use to buy a Thousand Trails membership. I would pass on all of their properties in the future based on this experience. read more

The laundry room was filthy. Out of 20 washers there was one that was clean. The others had mud, candy, sticks, cigarette butt, pet hair - lots of pet hair. The mud and hair clogging the machines was the worst I've seen in all the years of camping (6 years). I have zero interest in having that filth mixed in with my clothes. This is two issues... housekeeping hasn't been taught how to clean the machines AND/OR customers who are inconsiderate and overfilling machines with pet laden debris, rugs, and who knows what. The staff needs to get on it. No info on where or when the advertised activities take place. Supposedly boat rentals, live music, Bingo. No one kept a copy of the activities schedule in the office and the next schedule won't be ready until Thursday. Not impressed at all. No info on the activities cork board. Lame. read more

Spent one night, just to try it out. The only thing that wasn't good was the internet. However, out hotspot streamed our Roku great. The lake was great. The kids liked it more than the pool. We will be back soon! read more

We like this campground and absolutely love the B section. The campground roads are in serious need of repair. However, section B is new and wonderful. We are in a 36', Class A motor home. One strange note, however this is the only TT we've visited that charges $3 per day if you are 50 amp. They don't allow adapters to 30 amp. The pool is open but not heated so that kind of defeats the purpose. Because of roads I can only give a 3. We will definitely return. read more

Wonderful camping site! Pretty much everything is renewed and and redone. Beautiful, modern bathhouse, brand new pool area, mini golf, playground, basketball court, tennis court... we wish we could have stayed longer, but we were just passing through. I could have totally stayed much longer and enjoyed the campsite with all its amenities! read more

This is our home park and a lot has changed for the better since we became members in the 1980's. That being said, we did not have an RV for many years of our membership. We tent camped and used their rentals quite often. Now we have an RV and are using our membership a lot differently. Great facilities, lots of outdoor sports courts, beach is kept up again after they let it grass over for many years, fish cleaning station and marina for your boats. They no longer have an adult lodge as that has been changed into the sales office for the permanent homes all over the front of the park. There is also a smaller village on the second loop into the park. Another thing is the people that live in the park have the best camp sites available. Us travelers are left with uneven sites. Late one night we came in and literally could not get our 5th wheel to disengage because it was so unlevel. We were just there for a quick stopover, so we slept connected to the truck on this huge incline. It was awful. Last, but not least the roads are so terrible you can't even enjoy riding your bicycle around. We love to ride bikes and take ours everywhere. But this place has the absolute worst roads I have ever seen. They also charge an upgrade fee of $3 a night for 50amp. Most of the parks don't do that, and most of this park now has 30/50amp in the sites already. Why are we still paying for this? read more

Gone way down hill since our last visit. Both this parks rules and the system wide Thousand Trails rules are completely ignored by management and campers. Dogs unattended and tethered out barking constantly is the biggest problem. Loose dogs. Dogs on tethers that reach into neighboring sites. Vehicles parked on grass. 3 cars in some campsites. Tarps covering accumulation of junk in some sites. Tarps over RV roofs in some sites. Rangers drive past and ignore all rules violations. The only thing management cares about in this glorified trailer park is selling more annual sites. It used to be a nice place. Fire the manager and hire someone new. read more

Last night we had reservations for the Lake Conroe location. We had been looking forward to this trip as we have a young baby and it had been a while since our last vacation. This was our first stay at a Thousand Trails location. It was a complete disaster and we are disappointed not only with the customer service, but the site's management in general. The Ranger arrived and I explained that it was our first time here. She told us to take any site we see and just come back and let her know which one we selected. She recommended E70 and told us that it was vacant. We found that site and it was occupied so we continued to look for more sites and finally found one we liked (Many of the sites had very uneven gravel). This one had a yellow bag around the electrical which we assumed must have been to prevent water ingress into the electrical. I spent about 45 minutes setting up while my wife, 8 month old baby, and dog waited in the car. A gentleman (guest) came up to us and told us that the yellow bag might mean this is reserved. We called the Ranger and told her that we were on E79 (written on the bag) and she seemed to contemplate this and then said ok. I asked her about the bag and she said oh yeah, you can't camp there. I tried to explain that I had an 8 month old in the car who had already waited for 45 minutes and now it was dark time and finding another spot and setting up would have been difficult in the darkness. The site is a maze of narrow roads and limited to no signage. She seemed indifferent and did not attempt to offer a solution. So we packed up and left to drive 2 hours all the way back home. The Ranger was never rude, just incompetent and she effectively ruined our experience with Thousand Trails. We experienced very poor hospitality and can't help but think that if we had only made reservations at a KOA or other reputable camp site as we had done in the past this would not have been an issue. Overall, we are extremely disappointed in the customer service and will never set foot on the Lake Conroe Location again. read more

Stayed the weekend for the Bass Master Classics and this place was really nice and clean, but I didn't understand why you have to wipe down the restroom, wash dishes, sweep and mop before you check out. If that's the case why should we pay around $500 for the weekend.? If I'm saving the camp grown money by not having the staff clean the place, as do the Hotels, customers and/or members should receive a discount. Just saying. That's the only issue I'm complaining about. read more

Wide area of land in the RV resort. Many sites are being sold for permanents leaving the traveling membership with the worst sites, which are soft, not level and retain water. As long as this park has been here there shouldn't be any site that is so soft you cut into the soil. We had a fifth wheel toyhauler beside us who had 2 dogs and 2 pigs. They opened the rear of the toyhauler and made a porch for the pigs to be outside. Then they hosed down the inside area with waterfalls coming out the back onto the grass areas where children play. We have been traveling over 10 years and the private owned RV resorts are so much nicer. Thousand Trails has let their properties go. It's a shame. They are building sites in front that are being sold as permanents. There is also a Tiny Home village built to the front area. Electric good. Close to many shopping & restaurants in Conroe. read more

I'm not a fan of camping. How's that for the start of a review about a camping resort? I have never liked it... before I came here. Granted, the tent sites have running water and electric plugs, so I'm not exactly roughing it in the woods. It's a more milder outdoor adventure which is just fine with me. The entire resort is catered to family and fun. The main center always has something planned, and is themed out for holidays. Every morning you can find yourself a hot cup of coffee, if you're into that sort of thing. They have a large volleyball pool, miniature golf, a playground, basketball court, gym, tennis courts, and paddle boat rentals to sail off into the sunset on Lake Conroe. If you're a fan of camping out and breathing fresh air, this is your spot. If you don't like camping, but aren't afraid to give it another shot, this is also your spot. read more

Always clean, family friendly. Lights out is enforced in the campground . Never, ever do you see trash lying on the ground. Fishing around the marina is fun. Beach area is kept clean, hot tub always hot and clean, pool is huge! They have a brand new dog park. Really worth the trip.. read more

Not real pleased with the campgrounds. While the facilities are nice as far as clubhouse the camp locations are lacking some of the basics. First it's 31 degrees at night and 45 during the day and they told us we must have 50 amp service because we had 2 AC units. Clearly they don't know what they are talking about but charged the extra 3.00 per night any how. Second the sites might as well be unimproved as the gravel they did have was thin and your tires sunk in. Third, they don't keep track much of the rules as one camper next to us had 2 old tires sitting beside it for a week. This place might be better in the summer but the staff isn't impressive or helpful. Further they tried to say they have electrical problems if a 50 amp uses a UL approved adaptor to 30 amp. What the fuse blows if you try and use over 30 amp... not impressed and we won't be back. Actually left early. read more

Impossible to make a reservation on a weekend. Went to book online website would not go past payment screen even though it was available to give us a reservation. Called all day reservation line and Ranger station . We went in person to ranger station she had 4 clean rooms but wasn't allowed to book us inside office where you pay with a membership never said I will give you a room and pay in morning no other options. Asked for manager that lives on site still no help would not come up . So if your website won't book you, Your reservation phone number is closed the entire weekend and ranger station cant book an reservation(in the past they were allowed to) but can take payment . How exactly do you make a reservation I hope there is no flooded toilets or problems after 8pm on a weekend because you will have no answer at all. How is a vacation location not available on a weekend? Its like going to a Hilton on Saturday and saying sorry we are closed. Your in the business of travel you should be open to book and help members. read more

As Mary D. posted in 12/2021, the roads in the park are terrible. The sites are also rocky and not level. It seems that they have given up on keeping up the RV portion of the park and are concentrating on their new small home areas. There has been a lot of staff turnover, and the Manager Chassie Williams is said to be managing three different parks which results in the Lake Conroe guests being neglected. We were there for two weeks recently and constantly got solicited by the sales office to purchase a membership. They even came and knocked on our RV door one night because we had not returned their phone call. Like Mary D. we also got clipped for $3 per day for 50amp. Something not mentioned when you make reservations. If you want wifi and cable, expect to pay extra for that as well. As full time RVers we rely on web sites and reputations to make good destination choices. We will know better next time. If we're ever back in Conroe Tx, we will find a different place to stay. I hope not all Thousand Trails parks are like Lake Conroe. read more

If you are looking for a trailer park and not camping - this may be for you. Sites are not level and very close together. Most of the people here are living here and not "camping". Many contractors who are working in Houston live here and drive out around 7 each morning. The facilities are nice - pool, laundry, restaurant, bb court etc. - the showers and bathrooms are also very nice - wish they would make the actual camping sites as nice - a big issue for us was there was no grill at each site - our fire pit also did not have a grate to cook with - I'll stick with the national parks and state parks - not my cup of tea here read more

I arrived on the 27th. Was told there is a 3 dollar added fee for 50 amp sites, come on most all RV's are 50 amps. If I wanted a 30 amp site I would still be charged for 50 amp site. Cheep way to milk RVers. Not so RV friendly. Unless they change their way I don't think I will renew when it comes time. read more

A nice place, often a quiet getaway. On the good side, there's a pool, hot tub, miniature golf, exercise equipment, tennis courts, boat ramp, sandy swimmers beach, and an activity center where there's a lot going on. On the other hand, the pot holes will swallow the kids bicycles, and the wifi is slower than my old dial-up. The park rangers are great and the place is kept pretty clean. We love the short trip to TT Conroe. read more
