"Nice and friendly" is beyond an understatement when describing this gentleman. The General Store has so many snacks, I probably spent $60 on all the stuff I ate. I couldn't help myself. You won't be left hungry here. They do close early at 6 on though so use your time wisely! We stayed in Condo 2 and it was absolutely lovely. They even have pots, pans, silverware, dishes and mugs in the kitchen for you to use. Oh! We were so happy to see a griddle! The bathtub is also a jacuzzi! And they had little toiletries for you. Oh, and makeup remover wipes even! Talk about next level thinking! Everything hardware you need for a basic stay is there. It really felt like home. My husband and I are already talking about coming back before the end of the year. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Lance and Shannon!

Balcony was a nice touch, but the air conditioning unit for the store was directly under the balcony and ran 24/7. There was no air conditioning in the room, so windows needed to be open. When I talked to the lady in charge she offered no solutions, only that maybe next time we could stay in the condos. NEXT TIME??? The mail truck pulled up next door at 5:30am and lots of loud noise loading the truck. And $157.....

I did enjoy the two young gentlemen they look to be like highschoolers or college kids that were dancing for the kids and wearing the T-shirts. They were so nice of my kids enjoyed dancing with them. I only knocked off a star because we stayed in the grizzly suite. It was a two bedroom suite that we stayed in. And there was a lot of little flies everywhere. And the bathroom had no wash soap in it. So we couldn't even take a shower using the liquid with soap we had to use a bar soap so it'll be nice if you know the Housekeeping can fill that for the next guest. But even with the waterpark being so small, my kids who are ages three, four, five, and six years old. All really love the waterpark so that's why I read it so high. Because as long as they had fun, I'm all good with that.

A magical, soul-soothing escape…read more I can't say enough good things about my stay at Wellspring Spa. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I'd stepped into a hidden forest sanctuary. The land itself is breathtaking--towering trees, soft mossy trails, and peaceful stillness that invites you to breathe deeper and slow down. I spent hours wandering the hiking paths and felt like I was in another world. I stayed in the Tahoma cabin, and wow--it was cozy, peaceful, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. (They must have updated them based on what I have read from previous posts!) Every detail in the space felt intentional and grounding. After a day of exploring, soaking in the outdoor hot tub with that stunning view of the trees was exactly what my body and mind needed. And the lofted sauna? Absolutely the coolest (and warmest!) little gem--such a unique and relaxing experience. What really made this place special, though, was the warmth and kindness of the staff. They were so welcoming, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about creating a healing experience for guests. Also: there's a sweet dog who wanders the grounds and melts your heart--truly the cherry on top. Wellspring isn't just a place to stay--it's a place to remember. I already can't wait to come back.

We were able to get partial view of the ocean as well! It's probably just me but I always stress out when I book hotels that have carpeted rooms because people don't remove their dirty footwear. It's always so pleasant to spend my money on non-carpeted floors because I can clean the floor myself. With two toddlers in tow who love to touch, sit, and lay down in places they've never slept at before, this resort definitely helped relieve that stress! I really have nothing negative to say about this place. Upon checking in, we received two cans of beer, free of charge - not sure if that was because it was Thanksgivings weekend, or if it is some they they normally do - but that was a nice surprise to have. The rooms included dishes and utensils which was a bonus as well as a dustpan and broom for sweeping all the sand that comes in. The bed was comfortable and fit all four of us comfortably (we had a king-size bed). The bathtub was a bit odd just because there was a sliding window which when opened connected to the bedroom. Our kids had a hoot being in the bathtub while getting to watch tv at the same time - although there was also a tv in the bathroom. Location was absolutely perfect! A five minute walk to the beach! In addition, there were many restaurants to choose from in the area. We found it so convenient during dinner hours because when our toddlers were on the verge of meltdowns, we would get the check and walk to our rooms easily.

The only thing I wish there was is fresh coffee in the lobbies in the morning. I hate K cups, personally. They don't taste good and are bad for the environment. Plus making coffee in the room wakes my wife up and I like to let her sleep in. They have a coffee shop, but I wanted it in a mug. We ended up going to the restaurant for coffee and a fruit bowl which was perfect. I loved all the little spaces to hang out and enjoyed writing in the little workspace on our floor. The view and setting made it easy to feel productive and made my writing feel less boring than usual (I'm in school). The staff were all super sweet and thoughtful throughout. So happy that this magical place exists! Excited to return. Our favorite part was Brook the kitty. We are big fans of hers.

First of all, the lady at the general store (main office) is incredibly friendly and warm. We stayed in the Angler's Den cabin and called ahead a few times with questions. She answered all of them and was very kind and helpful. The cabin came stocked with pots, plans, dishes, silverware, wine opener/bottler opener and really pretty much everything you would need. The cabin was actually quite large and had a true living room, kitchen (with large refrigerator), bathroom, and separate bedroom. There were multiple TV's within the cabin as well. Plus a large comfortable recliner chair! The cabin also had an air conditioning unit, which was much needed during the month of July. Not all cabins have AC, but most do. Offut Lake Resort is also in a densely wooded area with plenty of tall trees, so the shade throughout the resort keeps it much cooler. Even though the temps were in the high 80's when we were there, it was surprisingly shaded and comfortable throughout. The actual resort is nestled within a few neighborhoods near the lake. It is a quiet area and everyone seemed friendly. It was very safe and we were able to take our one year old son on a few long walks throughout the bordering neighborhoods. The resort has a playground with swings, a basketball court, and a larger grass area for other recreational activities. The general store/main office sells items you might need (or have forgot), and also sells beverages such as soda/juice/beer. The Lady of the Lake Restaurant is fantastic and is truly one of the best things about this small resort. It is incredibly convenient to be able to order takeout food for lunch or dinner from the restaurant and bring it back to your cabin. The restaurant is a short 3-5 minute walk from the camp sites and cabins. All of the food we had there was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The food was higher quality and tastier than what you might find at most bar & grills. Eating at the restaurant is also a nice option, and there is a bar there as well. It is a busy restaurant and seems to be a popular place with the locals. The fish & chips were delicious and something we would recommend! They also had a band play at the restaurant on Friday night. The lake is very scenic and tranquil. It is a shallow lake making it fairly warm and the water seemed clean. There is a small grass beach front area with rock wall that leads down to the lake. There are steps to walk down to get to the lake. We would recommend bringing water socks (or some type of water shoes) because the rocks at the bottom of the lake are a little harder to stand on. We brought sand toys, but then when we got there we realized there was no sand or beach area. Not a big deal at all, but just something to be aware of. It is a great lake to bring floaties to and float around. Next time I go back, I'll bring floaties with an anchor to anchor out in the middle of the lake. You can also fish off the dock or rent boats for the day. This is an underrated lake resort for people in Western Washington! I have lived in the Seattle area my whole life and I've never heard anyone talk about this place! The prices are very reasonable, it is a short trek from the Seattle area, and it feels like a true lake getaway. We stayed for two nights, but it would be easy to spend three or four nights there, especially if you rent boats and spent the day out on the lake. The Lady of the Lake restaurant is a great place to end the day and have drinks/dinner. This is a fun family resort, but would also be a fun option for couples or groups of friends. We stayed there in July during a nice streak of sunshine, but this could be a fun place to go in the Spring or Fall as well.

This little bar is my favorite place at this McMenamins location (although that Cove Bar is running a close second!). The view of the Columbia River, the food service, the attention to detail of my doppio espresso (a freshly sliced lemon peel & two lumps of rock sugar!), and the very yummy rosemary nuts, keep me coming back here whenever I can. McMenamins locations are often adventures all on their own - Kalama Harbor Lodge is no exception - but this location has the added distinction of being right on the river where you can watch the river traffic go by as you relax with a beverage and a server who quickly takes care of whatever you're looking for. If you go, and I encourage you to go, make sure you spend some time relaxing with the view. It's worth it!

McMenamin's properties are always full of character and attention to detail as they usually choose quirky, historic buildings to renovate. What's special about Harbor Lodge is that they managed to achieve that charm in a new build. I love wandering the property taking in the landscaping, architectural details, and views along the Columbia River. One of my biggest criticisms of McMenamin's is that their menu is tired, and has long needed some new dishes to spice things up. I love that McMenamin's Harbor Lodge Pub has dishes unique to this property. The prawns are one of my favorites, served in a creamy sauce with garlic bread on the side. Yum! McMenamin's Harbor Lodge and the neighboring market are wonderful additions to the Kalama community, and definitely worth a visit if you haven't been.
