Fleece the campers??? I went through the procedure to reserve one of the smaller sites for our 21' trailer. The price of $40 was prominently displayed. OK, a bit high for a one-night stay in a state park with no sewer or water connection. But, I'll pay for the convenience. Big surprise upon checking out. The total cost was shown to be $58.71, nearly 50% higher than the $40 advertised price. Here is what the additional charges were for: $7 Motor Vehicle Fee. My vehicle is registered in AZ. How is this justified? And since everyone get there with a vehicle of some sort, why is this not included in the displayed price? $10 transaction fee. I did all the work that the person who used to take the reservation over the phone would have done. The ID State Parks have replaced that service with a computer program. And apparently I have to pay for their computer system as well. Go figure. 3% Service fee. Who knows how they justify this? It is fortunate that the West has an abundance of Federal lands on which one can camp for a small fraction of the cost of this state park. read more

Three Island Crossing State Park - Parks Near Me - Glenns Ferry, Idaho

This is one of our favorite camping spots. Located just an hour east of Boise, it's a very pleasant spot as the weather starts to cool down. Campsites are spacious, mature trees provide shade and there's plenty of green grass. The campground includes free showers and a Frisbee golf course. The Snake River, where Oregon Trail pioneers crossed to the other side, is on the southern edge of the park and the Trail interpretive center is worth a visit. It's free. read more

We happened on this nice park and visitors center while driving across country in our RV. It includes cabins and RV sites, but we were stopping to make a picnic lunch. We enjoyed the visitors center a lot, and had a delightful lunch near the Snake River. History, shade, friendly people, and serenity - what more could we ask for? read more

Be warned. We stopped here for the night last year when traveling between Oregon and Utah and liked it so we decided to stop again tonight on our journey. The payment system has changed. Scan the QR code to pay. Okie dokie. However.... $43 per night- no problem, we're great with that. PLUS a $14 vehicle fee- what, do they think we pushed our trailer into camp? AND a $10 transaction fee. And finally, a 3% fee on all that. We were up to $69 just to stop for the night. Forget that. We left and stopped just up the road at a Harvest Host location, Y Not Winery. They also have an RV park for those who aren't HH members. read more

We love the Three Island Crossing interpretive center and try to come every summer. The center is very nicely appointed with attractive, kid friendly, informative displays. It is a well maintained, high quality small museum experience. The volunteer docents are knowledgeable and friendly. We'll be back! read more

Great place to camp. We take our first camping trip to Glenn's ferry to get the year started. Lots of camping spots and large grassy area. Some cabins if needed. Golf course and winery next door with golf. All tied up in one area!! read more

This campground has a lot of room! You are right next to your neighbor, but there is a large grass area in the middle of the circle, so it feels like you have a lot of space. The bathroom & showers are clean. We went to the museum and all enjoyed learning about the Oregon Trail crossing! It is a short drive to town if you forgot anything, or want to eat out. read more

I'm all for roughing it out in the back country where there is no cell service and nothing but you and nature, but sometimes it's a nice treat to camp with benefits. This was out first time visiting Three Island Crossing State Park and it did not disappoint. In fact, I'm not sure that I've stayed at a nicer State Park than this one. I've always thought it would be fun to camp in a little cabin. Just one that is basically a shelter, so I don't have to deal with the ordeal of a tent and my kids feet in my face in the middle of the night. So when I googled my options that were within about an hour from home, because kids cooped up in a vehicle that are pumped about camping is no bueno, I was intrigued when I saw Three Island Crossing. The photos and reviews were minimal, but I decided to toss the dice and give it a whirl and pleasantly surprised I was! Wins: * All freeway driving from Boise * Super clean restrooms with free hot showers and they are close! * Site located right on the Snake River * Very generous campsite space * Cabin comfortably sleeps 5 * Only 5 Cabins, separated from general campsites = Very quiet * Lots of Shade and all Grass * Park Staff was super friendly and helpful Bonuses: * Porch Swing * Lots of nearby trash cans * Electricity in the cabin AND wait for it . . . Heat/AC * 18 hole Disc Golf Course adjacent to the cabin area * Welcome Center has a wonderful Oregon Trail Museum * JR Ranger explorer backpacks available to check out for the day * Winery/restaurant and golf course super close if that's your style Tips: * Mattresses were meh, bring extra padding for comfort * Lots of stinging nettle in the grass, so don't run barefoot * Lots of fish in the water, but I didn't see 1 person catch a thing * Welcome Center has disc's you can borrow if you don't have any * Take the time to do the Scenic Byway drive to the overlook, it is breathtaking on a clear day * Glenn's Ferry is very close if you need to restock on ice, gas or marshmallows Sounds like a dream, doesn't it? We were here in 2018 and loved this park. 2024 still loving it. An oasis off of the interstate. Good facilities. Very nice staff and volunteers. Oregon trail museum and education center is awesome. Be sure to drive up to where the actual trail lies up on a bluff looking down at the three islands in the Snake River the settlers were about to cross. Awe inspiring. read more

This is only our second time RV camping but we enjoyed staying here. My husband was bummed it wasn't full hook-ups and he monitored like crazy during our stay but the dumps were close and we used them before leaving. Just can't shower in the RV. They have public showers and bathrooms in the middle of the wagon wheel campground where we stayed which is like spots 1-44. The lower campground by is closer to the river but the spots are tighter and don't have as much grass. The upper spots were nice and shady too. Very dog friendly. It has a private walking path to the Y Knot Winery next door which was a plus. The cabins were right on the river. The museum was close but we drove because it was hot. Nice little exhibits and you can see where the wagons came up from the river on the Oregon trail. There was a camp host that was available and transparent at all times too. We didn't need her but would have been easy if we did. Overall, I'd recommend. read more

THREE ISLAND CROSSING STATE PARK CAMPGROUND - GLENS FERRY, ID 08-16-2019 $44.22 Excellent municipal park - quiet - among the trees and lots of green grass Most recent stay was June August 18, 2019 ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop" style RV w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area We reserved site 82 (a long pull-thru site) through Reserve America, an easy process; had a 30 amp electrical and water hookup. There is a dump station on site at the top of the hill as you exit the park. Campground set up in an oval loop with rv sites on the outside and restroom/shower building in the middle - easy access. Green grass and shade trees everywhere, an open and airy campground with ample room between sites - no crowding here. Well cared for, grass was cut, trees provided ample shade, paved roadways and site pads. Each site has a nice aluminum picnic table and fire pit and all sites good sized - a very relaxing atmosphere. RV dump station at the top of the hill when exiting is easy to access and use. Restroom/shower building needed some TLC and showed its wear lacking general maintenance. It was clean inside but it ended there. Would have rated this park a 5 star but because of the lack of maintenance in the restroom/shower building it gets a 3 star. read more

Campground Review. I don't know if I should start with the human waste piles we almost stepped in, or the dogs. Let's start with the dogs. Dogs EVERYWHERE. Dogs barking in huge kennels that sound like the pound when you walk by, dogs in and out of our camp area and barking at our dogs all day making it Difficult for our dogs to be safe outside of our RV. I have a fully trained service dog with me as I'm disabled. One morning, it looked like our camp was safe from random dogs so I let my dogs outside with me. My pet dog is always leashed. My service dog is able to walk next to me at a heal and doesn't leave my side without command so I just had her go to my chair as I worked my way out of the RV. I used a small lead confined to our campground to let her have a little exercise but not to encroach on other campers. We were immediately disciplined like children by a camp "Karen". We said she was on a lead and on her ecollar that she is trained to use for bird hunting when my husband takes her to exercise. Our dog didn't approach this woman. She remained at my side (she's my service dog on or off harness) so she knows not to approach people without my specific command. "Camp Karen" told us her leash had to be 6 feet long and stormed off. Apparently she was a Host. Maybe she should worry about the untrained dogs roaming free through her campground before she bullies a perfectly trained Service Dog. It was also super expensive for a crappy experience. By crappy, I mean human waste! Don't walk in the dark here! $50 a night and no sewer hookup? Maybe that's why people are crapping all over the grounds. If you wonder if I'm mistaking dog poop for human waste, we could hear people grunting in the dark. Parents telling kids to hurry and nobody is looking. It was human waste. We checked out a day early. Yeah. We won't be back. read more

Cool spot. You can rent a cabin for about 78 as an out of towner. Less as a local. Looks like good fishing and they have a pretty cool little museum abt the Oregon Trail. Didn't get to stay there but I'm planning on taking a trip out there. read more

This is a nice campground: clean, spots are a bit more spread out (compared to other campgrounds where you're camped five feet away from each other), and very quiet. It's mostly a campground for RVs, though I'm sure you could survive in a tent here, too. It's a very family-oriented place, with an enforced quiet time, so if you're looking to party, this is definitely not the place for you. You also have to leash your pets, so if you have a dog that hates to be leashed, skip this campground. They enforce the leash regulations, too. Bathrooms are clean, updated and nice, which is a bonus. You can walk to the winery, which is also nice. I've also stayed in the nearby tiny cabins, which is enjoyable too. The Snake River is rather slack and calm near the campground, making it perfect for paddle boarding, but I didn't get to go because it wasn't hot enough. You don't want to paddle board on the Snake unless it's at least 90 degrees, because the water is cooooollllld...or maybe I'm just a wuss. Overall, Glenn's Ferry and this campground aren't an epic Sawtooth Forest-type of camping experience, but it's still nice, clean and quiet. Other people must agree, because it was totally full when we were there. read more

Roadtrippin' is fun especially when you're with the ones you love. The grandparents decided to take me east to a part of Idaho I hadn't been. Ultimately the destination was Twin Falls but we did veer off the beaten path a couple of times. One veer was off I-84 into the quaint town of Glenns Ferry. It's a hometowny kind of town and being a Friday when we went through, there weren't too many townies about. Taking heed of the signs pointing to the southern most tip of town, we came to Three Island Crossing State Park which at first glance looked like a high desert playground until you got closer to the water. We paid our entrance fee and drove in by way of a driveway cutting into the landscape. Expansive rolling green grassy areas were abound, many recreational opportunities and the campgrounds looked pretty nice as well. I think the best feature though was the winding Snake River in it's natural glory and beyond at the sagebrush covered hills. I guess we thought we were going to be there for a bit but instead we decided to turn back around and head back to the highway. Yes it was a day fee lost but it was worth is seeing what they have to offer should I come this way again. read more

I would give 5 stars for this beautiful park but I have to be honest and tell folks who want to visit or vacation in this beautiful place that the mosquitoes are so bad here in the evenings. Just when the temperatures cooled down and we wanted to go out hiking, we were scared back into our RV because nowadays, one bite can be deadly. So be sure to bring your repellent if you want to enjoy this gorgeous place. read more

I've stayed in a few state parks over the years, this one is by far one of the best. All the volunteers I've come into contact with have been extremely friendly and helpful. Only people I could do without are the current park hosts, Bev and Bob, hopefully they won't be back next year. Park ranger here is one of the most hardworking women I've ever met, it seems like she is constantly doing something to help make the park better. Definitely worth stopping and staying read more

Be sure to see the museum on Three Island Park located very close to campground. The park was well kept. Fire rings were placed too close for comfort under trees. We were charged $10 extra per day for tow car because we were not Idaho residents. read more
