It's now officially a tradition y'all ... a van load of folks from the north (New Jersey to be specific.) travel to Kentucky on a mission trip with the reward being an incredibly delicious meal at Three Li'l Pigs Barbecue on our return trip. We discovered Three Li'l Pigs perhaps because it is conveniently located off of I-81 whether you are traveling north like us or south. So, you travellers this is a location for some GREAT Q!! I've lost track of how many years we've stopped but we've had Ginger wait on us more than once. You've got to start with the fried pickles but after those are devoured just go your own way. Sauces are fantastic but the hot is HOT (I buy bottles for home every year because I love superb hot sauce with a kick!). Not even sure where to start on the food so let's just say it's all delicious ... service is wonderful... the outdoor patio comforting ... And, if you are like me you hate getting back on the road but we will be back next year!! Oh, don't forget to buy a bottle or two of their peach ketchup you'll use it up by next year!! Oh ... FYI there's a "KID MENU" for kids 12 and under AND 65 & over that includes a lil pig bbq sandwich and more!! Great idea for older kids with limited budgets who are not that hungry.

    Three Li'L Pigs!

I'm a foodie from the south and I know BBQ. I had the St Louis Dry Rub Ribs. Absolutely perfectly cooked. Succulent but not greasy with plenty of flavor. I had a taste of the Smoked Salmon. Again, perfect. What hit me was the sides. Grilled asparagus, and the Cole Slaw was not so sweet. And the salads with house made dressing are over the top. Corn and Gorgonzola (big hunks) with Creamy Italian Dressing did the trick and then some. I was able to eat not even half of my salad. The price is reasonable and the service is attentive. Thank you, Three Li'L Pigs and all your humans for a really good meal.

Three Li'l Pigs Barbeque was the perfect stop on our long drive. We stopped in for dinner just as a big storm was rolling in, and it was a packed house. After eating there I can definitely see why! Everything from the sweet tea to the buffalo chicken rangoons to the bbq Cuban sandwich and even the fried oreos with cinnamon ice cream was absolutely delicious. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, even helping us decide what to get when everything was sounding good. The food was fresh and tasty, the service was great, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. I would definitely stop by for dinner again.

Today me and my family went to this restaurant I guess I was expecting more then what I expected me and my husband got the Jamaican jerk sandwich the one side we got the house salad there was nothing to do a back flip over 3 small Pieces of pork cut into medallion pieces of meat. A very small house salad I was a EMT would drop off Patience. Off at Carrington place nursing home and was wanting to go here for many years and finally had the opportunity to go today. The waitress we had. She was not so Friendly.. She was telling us to pretty much To hurry up what we needed to order. What did Want to. drink cause? She really didn't want to do her job. The building was okay inside was nice. The bathroom was okay. I will show you the pictures.

Stopped two nights ago on our way south on I-81 to visit the in-laws. It was an outstanding experience. Everyone was very nice, food was great, prices weren't bad, and they got us in and out of there quickly. I was particularly impressed with the waitress' street smarts picking up that we were on the road, her confirming that we didn't want to linger, and her keeping things moving so we got in and out quickly. I asked the waitress, and she confirmed that Interstate travelers are a decent part of their customer base. If you are one, I can't promise you that you will get the same when you want to get in and out quickly, but it was like 30 minutes from when we walked in until when we were driving away, which is AMAZING for a full-service restaurant. There is good flexibility in the menu with the sides, so everyone will get what they want. This is a keeper for us, and we will be going back on future trips up and down I-81.

The host's table where the host greeted us with a smile.

BBQ is one of my favorite foods, and I'm always on the lookout for great BBQ restaurants. But never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that a restaurant with the name of one of the best and oldest children's classic books wood also have one of the best BBQ food that I have ever tasted. Three Li'l Pigs Barbeque was truly a pleasant discovery. Located in the picturesque Botetourt County in Daleville, Virginia, I believe it has the valleys best hickory-smoked, slow-cooked barbeque. My friend and I arrived at the place on a Tuesday early evening. Since it is located in the corner of a modern looking strip mall, there were plenty of parking spaces where to park. The inside of the building has a high ceiling with hardwood floors and walls all around, as well as large windows all around the front and side of the building where an outdoor seating area on top of a nicelooking wooden deck. Outside the main door was a sign with the daily Specials. When you enter you find the Host's table and next to it an area for t-shirts and other items for sale. The restaurant was almost totally full on the inside, but there were still plenty of outdoor patio available tables. The host greeted us with a friendly smile and asked us if we wanted to sit outdoors. I told her that we preferred to wait for an indoor table (because it was very hot outside). So she took us to one of the two booths still empty. It seems that a group of people were having a reunion there. My friend and I both ordered from the Daily Specials the Fried Pork Shop Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries, and I a side of seasoned pigtail fries. As an appetizer, we ordered chicharrones (pork rinds). These were good, but I was expecting more crispy fried pig skin with meat and fat, like those found in Latin restaurants. Nevertheless, I didn't let this disappoint me. The Fried Pork Chop Sandwich was amazingly delicious as well as the seasoned pigtail and sweet potato fries. The waitress provided excellent customer service and came to check on us several times. For dessert, my friend ordered the Fried Cheesecake with a scoop of Cinnamon Ice Cream, and I ordered the Peanut Butter Pie with a scoop of the Cinnamon Ice Cream on the side. They booth looked wonderful and tasted amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone reading this review and plan on returning real soon. This is the best compliment one can give a restaurant.

Yummy yummy wings! Could have used a little more crisp but other than that they were perfect!

Do not sleep on this little BBQ spot. Very creative and innovative. The BBQ chicken Rangoon was absolutely amazing! Wasn't expecting those to be as good as they were! My husband and I both had the wings and had they been fried just a touch crispier they would have been absolutely perfect!! The sauces were lit! They each had a very nice distinct flavor. Sometimes sauces tend to taste the same but not here. The restaurant was little but super cute! I loved the cool light fixture in the middle of the restaurant. The service here is also top notch! We never waited for anything. She was super fast and friendly. I really wish we lived closer to this area bc this would definitely become one of our local spots.

Looks like we have a new chicken wings restaurant in the neighborhood and it's Atomic. Atomic…read morewings just opened a few days ago. It's located at Blue Hills Village, in Roanoke, Virginia, on the former Chicago Bob's Storefront. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public. And this Atomic Wings is the perfect example. Dedicated to serving a wide range of all natural jumbo wings and other menu items, Atomic Wings offers halal chicken at any spice level and a variety of dipping sauces to suit any taste bud. The founder of Atomic Wings did so by fullfiling his dream of recreating the hot, crispy wings he had once eaten during his college days in Buffalo, New York. Today at around 5:30pm I went with a friend to check this new place out. It had reasantly celebrated it's Grand Opening a few days ago, and still had some of the balloons decorations of the event attached to the outdoor columns of its building architectural design. When we entered I was surprised to find some customers eating there and others waiting for their To Go orders. The owner of the new restaurant came out and gave us a warm welcome, greeting us himself in person. He had a nice, friendly personality, and just by meeting him I could already anticipate the success of this new restaurant. Their menu was well lit and hanging high above. Their prices were very reasonable and they had a nice variety of chicken items besides their famous Wings, such as Chicken Tenders and Chicken Sandwiches, and for dessert, Fried Oreo Cookies. For those who enjoy a cold beer in a hot Summer day, they had both Bottled Beers and Tap Beers, as well as Beer by the Pitcher. They also had regular fountain drinks and milkshakes. And for fries, from Fresh-Cut Fries, to Waffle Fries, to even Tater Tots. The lady at the counter greeted us and took our order. We both ordered the #3 Combo Meal with 5 pieces of Chicken Tenders, Fresh-Cut Fries, and a fountain drink. My friend had Root Beer and I had Dr Pepper. They also had Pepsi and Southern Style H & C Brand Ice Tea. They charged for the order and took my first name to call us when the order was ready. When they called my name and recognized who I was, they immediately brought the order to our table without given us a chance to go pick it up. This is what I call service. Going above and beyond ones highest expectations even in the little things. When I saw the tray they had brought me, and placed on our table right there in front of me, I was mesmerized by the size of the Chicken Tenders and by the great amount of Fries served. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review and see for yourself. But just as if this wasn't surprisingly enough, when I tasted the first Chicken Tender, it was so crispy on the outside and so soft and juicy in the inside, and so tasty, even before dipping them in the sauces they provided. And the Fries. You might wonder, What can they do to the fries to make them stand out above the rest? The answer: Nothing. The fresh-cut fries had their natural flavor that stood out and were fried in such a way that were crunchy on the outside and soft and moist in the inside. As we were enjoying our meal. More and more customers were coming in to pick up their To Go orders as well as to dine in. It seems like the best advertisement "Word of Mouth" after trying the product, was being very successful. And greatly so, for a new Star has joined the Star City of Roanoke and the community as a whole is benefiting from this new addition to their culinary lineup.

The jerk flavor was tasty and full of complex but well balanced flavors. We also tried the Garlic Parmesan wings which were great too because its hard to not make that flavor too greasy. The ranch they serve for dipping with the wings was creamy and had a great zing. And lastly - Never have I ever had such crispy, tender, and well seasoned waffle fries. They stole the whole show! Well Done!!

Just as Melrose Plaza itself, Henrietta's Cafe far exceeded my highest of expectations. After many times of driving by Melrose Plaza, today I made a U turn in my Lexus and ended up in their ample parking lot. As I walked over to the Plaza, I was first very impressed by its beautiful contemporary architectural design. Inside, I was greeted by a friendly young lady in the Plaza's Information Center, and she pointed out where the café in the Market on Melrose was situated. It was located right next to the Market entrance. I was impressed by its clean and colorful look with beautiful ceiling lighting treatment. The ambiance of the place was so cool and relaxing, that I immediately felt right at home, looking forward to having some home cooking. At the beginning of the line, there was a Grab & Go section with large display refrigerators containing prepared food and drinks so you can take with you on your way to work or you can also eat these items in their dining area if you're not looking for hot food. On the way to the ordering counter you can find tall square baskets with some snack items many of which were on sale. The menu was on the wall posted on those boards that you set up letter by letter. And then came the glass display cases. First the refrigerated one with deli meats and cold items such as their famous potato salad. Then the hot one with their Fried Chicken, Fried Fish, Hot Dogs, and hot sides. A very friendly and hospitable young gentleman greeted you and explained the different combinations you could order. All at very reasonable prices. He then served them for you in a sturdy black clamshell container. I ordered two Fried Chicken Breasts with two sides, potato salad and sweet potatoes. And a Dr Pepper from the softdrink machine. Then paid at the counter with my Harvard Alumni World Mastercard. It was all so simple and convenient. Since I was dining in, they put my order on a tray, and gave me some quality plastic utensils. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the high quality of their food. For dessert I picked up a Coconut Cream Pie that came in a box and were available next to the register. The food was simply exquisite. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. The potato salad was very flavorful. And the sweet potato was amazing. They were smashed and cooked with a sweet sauce that contained some type of nuts. I sat down at one of the dining table to enjoy my dinner while observing all the other customers ordering to-go and some to eat-in. Later on when I visited the Market, there was a beautiful quote on the wall about the importance of food and how "food not only reaffirms our Humanity but the Joy of Being Alive." I highly recommend this cozy Café with wonderful food and very friendly and hospitable servers. And am myself looking forward to returning for breakfast one of these mornings.

I can say it's the best kept secret of the Town of Vinton, in Roanoke County, and it's about time that it no longer be a secret. I am determined to go try it out and spread the word. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those young established ones that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And HCK Hot Chicken is the perfect example. Located off East Washington Avenue, in one of the most beautiful areas of Vinton, near William Byrd High School, this restaurant is located inside a long standing convenience store, "Vinton Tobacco & Grocery," and in the same location of a bp gas station, but don't let this fool you, it has its own entrance on the side, its own parking lot, and a drive-thru lane for ordering. Besides this, its owner has done a great renovation job, that this is one of the cleanest gas stations/convenience stores that I have ever been to, and because of this it in no way detracts from the clean, bright, and contemporary ambiance of the restaurant itself. Founded in 2020, in Woodbridge, Virginia, the first HCK (Hot Chicken Kitchen) Hot Chicken restaurant had as its Mission: "Unity through Food." Recognizing the power of food to bring people together. Their belief is that "food unites us and can lift people up." There menu features succulent Nashville-style chicken sandwiches, classic and boneless chicken wings, chicken tenders, chicken and Belgian waffles, loaded fries, loaded mac and cheese, coleslaw, fried pickles, fried donut drops, and more. The owner of the restaurant who warmly greeted me when I arrived told me that all of their dishes are gluten and allergen free. With no MSG and no peanut oil.The chicken is farm-raised, fed only vegetables and grains, with no use of growth-boosting chemicals. When one enters the restaurant, it is nicely designed (with the colors red, black, and white), and with hardwood floors, wood tone tables and chairs, a well organized ordering counter, and a well lit menu high above the counter, as well as with large pictures of menu item just below the menu sign. The very friendly and knowledgeable order taker took my order from behind the counter. I ordered a Nashville Style Chicken Sandwich Combo with the mildest sauce they had. It came with their seasoned krinkle kut fries, a side of good sauce, and a drink. Not bad for $14.49, especially after you taste the food. The chicken was the plumpiest, juiciest, and tastiest chicken that I have ever eaten in a sandwich. The fresh toasted artisan potato bun complimented its flavor. The fries were crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, seasoned to perfection. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review and see for yourselves because a picture is worth a thousand words. The welcoming and hospitable owner came to see how I had liked the food and I told him how amazing everything had been and that I looked forward to returning to try other menu items such as the Fried Donut Drops. In conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant for a very unique and wonderful chicken dining experience. Amazing food, clean and comfortable environment, and excellent customer service.

From the outside, the restaurant's building looked clean and inviting. Cars already were driving up to the drive through window and putting in their orders. And a few people were dining inside as well. I noticed that the windows and the glass door were very clean, and this fact gave a nice first impression of the restaurant. Once inside, I noticed the cleanliness of the place and contemporary, comfortable furniture: booths as well as tables and chairs. The color combination of gold and black made the place look elegant yet relaxed. The decor was minimalist with a wide screen color TV and a few signs decorating the walls, and a nice lighting treatment that came down from the black ceiling above. When I arrived to the ordering counter, I noticed all the employees were working very motivated and with a purpose, all doing their assigned duties enthusiastically. A young lady up front greeted and welcomed me with a smile and seemed very happy to hear that this was my first time here. She gave me some time to review the menu that was placed where all fast food restaurants have them. I ordered the Zaxseas Surf & Turf combo, and a Chocolate Chip Cookie for dessert. The order was efficiently taken and I paid with my credit card. It contained 3 Chicken Fingerz, 8 Shrimp with Zaxtail sauce, Texas Toast, Crinkkle fries, and a small drink of Dr. Pepper. Everything in the order came out so fresh and hot. The Chicken Fingerz were crunchy in the outside and juicy and tender in the inside. Same with the Shrimp. The Fries were also very well fried and freshly served. And the sauces were amazingly delicious. As I was leaving, I saw who seemed to be the manager seated at a table interviewing a young lady. I didn't want to interrupt, otherwise I would have told him how well he was running this restaurant. I just had an amazing dining experience here and this was only my first time. I highly recommend this place and am looking forward to coming back soon in the near future.
