Came back again on our way through town and hubs was seated in the Bush chair. I can neither confirm or deny if farting happened, but this time review coming more quickly so I can include some details. I love that they have a 1/3 rack rib option, as a small eater. I ate half of it and half of the delicious potato salad. It also came with hush puppies, which were just ok - a little doughy for me. My husband got vinegar based pulled pork and baked beans and he thought they worked well together. I prefer the KC bbq sauce to the other options, the tomato bbq sauce tasted more like a sweet weak salsa to me and I personally don't care for vinegar. I think I'd probably order the same thing again next time, though I was a little curious about the burgers (which come either as double 2oz smash burgers or a 5 oz regular burger for a small upcharge.) It's now officially a tradition y'all ... a van load of folks from the north (New Jersey to be specific.) travel to Kentucky on a mission trip with the reward being an incredibly delicious meal at Three Li'l Pigs Barbecue on our return trip. We discovered Three Li'l Pigs perhaps because it is conveniently located off of I-81 whether you are traveling north like us or south. So, you travellers this is a location for some GREAT Q!! I've lost track of how many years we've stopped but we've had Ginger wait on us more than once. You've got to start with the fried pickles but after those are devoured just go your own way. Sauces are fantastic but the hot is HOT (I buy bottles for home every year because I love superb hot sauce with a kick!). Not even sure where to start on the food so let's just say it's all delicious ... service is wonderful... the outdoor patio comforting ... And, if you are like me you hate getting back on the road but we will be back next year!! Oh, don't forget to buy a bottle or two of their peach ketchup you'll use it up by next year!! Oh ... FYI there's a "KID MENU" for kids 12 and under AND 65 & over that includes a lil pig bbq sandwich and more!! Great idea for older kids with limited budgets who are not that hungry. read more

Got talked into going to this joint again by friends. Knew better. Once again, this is NOT a BBQ restaurant. They have way too many other things on the menu. I made the mistake of ordering the NC pulled pork plate which includes 6 ounces of meat and 2 hush puppies for $10. No other sides or beverage included. Added a side of slaw and iced tea and with the mandated 20% gratuity for a party of six or more my meal came to $21.68. The BBQ was dry and tasteless. Service was OK but the waitress screwed up the bills for the table. This is my second review of this place. Won't be a third. read more

I'm a foodie from the south and I know BBQ. I had the St Louis Dry Rub Ribs. Absolutely perfectly cooked. Succulent but not greasy with plenty of flavor. I had a taste of the Smoked Salmon. Again, perfect. What hit me was the sides. Grilled asparagus, and the Cole Slaw was not so sweet. And the salads with house made dressing are over the top. Corn and Gorgonzola (big hunks) with Creamy Italian Dressing did the trick and then some. I was able to eat not even half of my salad. The price is reasonable and the service is attentive. Everything from the sweet tea to the buffalo chicken rangoons to the bbq Cuban sandwich and even the fried oreos with cinnamon ice cream was absolutely delicious. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, even helping us decide what to get when everything was sounding good. Today me and my family went to this restaurant I guess I was expecting more then what I expected me and my husband got the Jamaican jerk sandwich the one side we got the house salad there was nothing to do a back flip over 3 small Pieces of pork cut into medallion pieces of meat. A very small house salad I was a EMT would drop off Patience. Off at Carrington place nursing home and was wanting to go here for many years and finally had the opportunity to go today. Stopped two nights ago on our way south on I-81 to visit the in-laws. It was an outstanding experience. Everyone was very nice, food was great, prices weren't bad, and they got us in and out of there quickly. I was particularly impressed with the waitress' street smarts picking up that we were on the road, her confirming that we didn't want to linger, and her keeping things moving so we got in and out quickly. I asked the waitress, and she confirmed that Interstate travelers are a decent part of their customer base. If you are one, I can't promise you that you will get the same when you want to get in and out quickly, but it was like 30 minutes from when we walked in until when we were driving away, which is AMAZING for a full-service restaurant. There is good flexibility in the menu with the sides, so everyone will get what they want. This is a keeper for us, and we will be going back on future trips up and down I-81. read more

BBQ is one of my favorite foods, and I'm always on the lookout for great BBQ restaurants. But never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that a restaurant with the name of one of the best and oldest children's classic books wood also have one of the best BBQ food that I have ever tasted. Three Li'l Pigs Barbeque was truly a pleasant discovery. Located in the picturesque Botetourt County in Daleville, Virginia, I believe it has the valleys best hickory-smoked, slow-cooked barbeque. My friend and I arrived at the place on a Tuesday early evening. Since it is located in the corner of a modern looking strip mall, there were plenty of parking spaces where to park. The inside of the building has a high ceiling with hardwood floors and walls all around, as well as large windows all around the front and side of the building where an outdoor seating area on top of a nicelooking wooden deck. Outside the main door was a sign with the daily Specials. When you enter you find the Host's table and next to it an area for t-shirts and other items for sale. The restaurant was almost totally full on the inside, but there were still plenty of outdoor patio available tables. The host greeted us with a friendly smile and asked us if we wanted to sit outdoors. I told her that we preferred to wait for an indoor table (because it was very hot outside). So she took us to one of the two booths still empty. It seems that a group of people were having a reunion there. My friend and I both ordered from the Daily Specials the Fried Pork Shop Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries, and I a side of seasoned pigtail fries. As an appetizer, we ordered chicharrones (pork rinds). These were good, but I was expecting more crispy fried pig skin with meat and fat, like those found in Latin restaurants. Nevertheless, I didn't let this disappoint me. The Fried Pork Chop Sandwich was amazingly delicious as well as the seasoned pigtail and sweet potato fries. The waitress provided excellent customer service and came to check on us several times. For dessert, my friend ordered the Fried Cheesecake with a scoop of Cinnamon Ice Cream, and I ordered the Peanut Butter Pie with a scoop of the Cinnamon Ice Cream on the side. They booth looked wonderful and tasted amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone reading this review and plan on returning real soon. Do not sleep on this little BBQ spot. Very creative and innovative. The BBQ chicken Rangoon was absolutely amazing! Wasn't expecting those to be as good as they were! My husband and I both had the wings and had they been fried just a touch crispier they would have been absolutely perfect!! The sauces were lit! They each had a very nice distinct flavor. Sometimes sauces tend to taste the same but not here. The restaurant was little but super cute! I loved the cool light fixture in the middle of the restaurant. The service here is also top notch! In a lightning trip south, I was in need of a BBQ fix and this place was awesome. Had a lovely day to sit outside and enjoy the bottomless true-Southern sweet tea. I had the chicken sandwich with potato salad and a half order of hush puppies (they were so good I could have eaten 8, but I was trying to show some restraint!). The meat was perfectly smoked and piled high. I went with the KC BBQ sauce, which has a bit of a kick to it - heaven! The potato salad portion was generous (seriously, some places in the midwest give you sides in those tiny slaw bowls). This was nicely contained in a sandwich - sized paper boat and had just the right amount of crunch and sauce (plus super cute tiny cubes of potato). The slaw was spot on. We ordered takeout from here because of all the good reviews, and since we're just passing through, it seemed like a safe bet. So I guess I'll start with the good. For the food we could eat, it was good. And we got to try about half our order. All the sides had exploded in the paper bag and the bottoms of the containers had fallen out, so they leaked everywhere. Which is sad, I might have enjoyed them if they had given us silverware to eat it with. They did not. Which means we also couldn't eat the cobbler we ordered. We did manage to pick apart the chicken with our fingers, and it was good, but the wings needed more sauce. They were over fried and fairly flavorless. The hush puppies are tasty though. Speaking of dessert, I just realized that it was at the bottom of the bag that had the potato salad and Cole slaw, which exploded, so that got drenched in dressing and ruined. Shea was the nicest, most patient waitress ever. She made my friends and I feel so comfortable and accommodated after a long drive. She also ID'd me, which made me love her right away. My buffalo wings were the best I've ever had in my whole life. I've never seen so much chicken on a buffalo wing, and the spice level was perfect. I ordered 10 wings thinking I might still be hungry, and I couldn't even make it to five without having to get a to-go container. Both glasses of Chardonnay were delicious. My friend loved his craft beer, too. Everyone around the table enjoyed their dinners. When no one at the table knew exactly what Brunswick stew was, Shea brought a sample for all of us. The peanut butter pie I had after dinner was so delicious it was painful. So rich, creamy and loaded with flavor. When we enjoyed ourselves, Shea was pleased. Wow, this is some good barbeque!! We needed to stop for an early lunch on our way back from Roanoke to Charlotte. Did a quick search and Three Li'l Pigs sounded amazing. I was correct, this restaurant was soooo good!! We arrived right after they opened and they were still kind of setting up and getting ready but the service was still really good. We had a tomato based pork sandwich, a jerk sandwich, sides of hush puppies and brunswick stew. Everything single thing was delicious. We wish we were hungrier so we could have had more. We went to this place on the way to Tennessee. The waitress was super sweet/nice. But seamed a bit surprised when we told her we were from NoVA and just driving through. I got the Virginia Style BBQ sandwich (although they do have the Carolina - vinegar-based sandwiches as well). It was very good. They make their own sauce and it was pretty tasty. The Carolina-based, is not too strong. The hush puppies were awesome. Crunchy and soft in the middle. Really good. We also had pork nachos, which were not something I would typically order. The atmosphere was cool inside, small inside and was not offered to sit outside. The food was pretty good, and the bbq nachos were good but were lacking a bit of meat and bbq sauce. My meal was decently priced and good in flavor. Bathrooms were kinda mid tbh. Merch was sick. The lack of Mac n cheese on the menu was quite upsetting. We drove an hour to eat here so I have no opinion currently as to whether or not it was worth it. The building is also connected to what looks like a shopping center which is a little weird for a bbq joint. Was greeted nicely but not told goodbye on the way out. Found this place from the I-81 road sign but it isn't visible from the street if you're not from the area (it's in center behind Wendy's and Bojangles.). I found their bbq chicken in SC mustard to be quite tasty along with the Buffalo chips side and the slaw. The service was quick and attentive and I was back on the road within 20 minutes and full for $14. Will absolutely try to plan for it on future trips through the area. read more

And please don't go during your lunch hour, you will waste your whole lunch waiting and not get to eat!
