The Garden is swiftly becoming the new pub (caffeine a gleeful swap for alcohol in this case) here in the southwestern Valley. My husband and I indulge in fresh coffee and tea drink flavors, healthy and filling breakfasts, and yummy desserts-- and every single time I see people I know and love just "bumping into" more regularly. The sweethearted staff always puts up with my need for extra help in ordering (I have a sugar allergy, which can make getting to try a seasonal drink tricky-- but they do their best to make it work for me!). The business supports an incredible cause, which also serves to strengthen and help our immediate community. There is a small space to sit that is primarily within the business, but plenty of room in the shared space if you are looking for a place to extend your visit. I asked the barista some questions and noticed that he was meticulously measuring coffee grounds by weight and tamping with precision. He was very helpful and willing to discuss the possibilities to help me land on my drink of choice. He proceeded to make me the best "dirty chai" I have maybe ever had. The chai is sourced from a small business in Bend. It was a perfectly spiced blend. The espresso was smooth and flavorful. It was so delicious I went back for another the next day. This establishment serves only beverages (as far as I could tell) but they are made with care and skill. Highly recommend.

Hatch beaker + burr transcends all of these. I never expected that I would find one of the best lattes I've ever tasted in Spokane of all places after being a Portland/Seattle coffee elitist. The seasonal dulce de leche iced latte was so strong in the best way and brought me back to life with how flavorful it was. Seven dollars even and worth every penny. You can see in the attached photos that I really tried to get every drop of the drink. It was so good that I got another latte to go (cardamom), also so so good. Everything else: cute space with lots of plants and two tables (but other seating available in the commons), barista who is clearly very knowledgeable about every part of the coffee and actually likes making the drinks. If you're paying attention to the fact that it's a lingerie barista stand, with topless Tuesday and Thursday (clearly marked on the side of the stand), it's clear what the draw is for someone who appreciates an attractive woman. The setup is well thought out, so that the only time the view is obstructed is when they go to run your card. I'm not in the area often, but I will certainly be visiting any time I'm there!
