Ugh, this place. I'm going to spend so much money here! I'm addicted. I want to come here every day and root through what comes in. I love that the store is so well curated by decade. I love that they actually carry larger sizes (a hard find with vintage clothes) and I love how friendly the owners are! Can you tell I love it? I love the set-up too. They have vintage hats lining the walls above the racks and racks of clothing. They have vintage suitcases lining the shelves. They have dresses separated from skirts and shirts separated from pants. They also have a couple bins full of $5, $3 and $1 jewelry. You better know I dug through that! I finally walked in here the other day, and I can't wait to go back! The bright colors and bold patterns drew me in. Their window display is always so on point! Prices are absurdly reasonable. You can get a bold '70s dress for $28, or some vintage silver jewelry as cheap as $12. The costume jewelry is a can't-miss: They have huge, bright flower brooches, whale/cat/elephant/etc pins, and chunky, fun shaped necklaces! I could spend hours looking at this case alone (read: my boyfriend actually had to drag me away). The people who work here are just so friendly and accommodating, it's fantastic. They were far more helpful than people in a lot of stores I've been in. One of the best parts: The tags are labeled with the year or decade the clothing is from! You guys, this is one of the best, if not THE best vintage clothing store in Pittsburgh. Vintage stores like this are special to me because they turn the usual shopping experience on it's head. You don't have 50 of the same shirt staring back at you in a palette of expected, basic colors and patterns. With vintage like Three Rivers, you're buying a piece of history. An utterly unique piece that you'd be hard pressed to find anyone else wearing. And it requires work to find that perfect piece, which to me, makes the clothing and the purchase mean something. It can be a challenge for me to find pieces that fit my size well, but when I do, it's like the clouds part and the sun comes beaming down on me. The selection here was deep in a broad range of sizes, with waist measurements listed on all of the tags! Shopping here I found amazing pieces, that have already lasted one lifetime, and will probably survive another 3 or 4 with the proper care. To reiterate: I like my clothes vintage or antique, one-of-a-kind, eye-brow-raising and if it can evoke an era yet assimilate itself just as well into a modern wardrobe, I'm in heaven. And this place seriously transported me to heaven. The store is full of choice pieces organized by era, with women's clothing up front and an entire mens section in the back. Scott has an amazing eye for quality, desirability, rarity and something you just can't teach: impeccable taste. He also takes such wonderful care of the clothing, with dust jackets and garment bags on many of the pieces. All of the items in this shop are so exquisitely curated and cared for. Scott, the owner is also a total pleasure. I'm a bit of a high maintenance shopper, needing to see and feel everything and he bent over backwards to help. I visited this dainty little store for the first time today and couldn't help but love it. Pieces are organized by size and by decade and very obviously well cared for and protected (dresses stored in garment bags, etc.). It's so easy for jewelry and other small items to feel so messily displayed in places like this, but I can't stress how well-organized this store is. I also appreciated that they carried dresses in smaller than conventional sizes (22, 23), as I always find it so hard to shop for my petite frame, especially in vintage shops. Scott, the owner/proprietor, was super friendly and happy to chat with me about some of the clutches behind the glass counter that I was interested in. And best of all, the prices seem very reasonable. I do wish the selection were bigger, but I can appreciate that the owner is selective about stocking high quality pieces in good condition. I think it says it all that this store is worth a trip across the bridge to the South Side, as well as finding parking around E Carson St. So glad I found this gem of a shop--my closet is happier and so am I. read more

I would give the store a much better rating if I wasn't accosted as soon as I walked in the front door. The girl who worked there proceeded to direct us on how our behavior should be when we shopped. Do not touch the clothes from the middle, leave your umbrella in the umbrella stand so on and so on. There were so many rules that I can't even remember what they were anymore. I know the clothes are old and fragile but come on... I felt like she was speaking to a child. It made the whole experience very annoying and was off putting. Even if I would have found something I wanted I wouldn't have bought it there. We are from out of town and I have to say there's much better vintage stores in Columbus that do not treat you like an uneducated idiot when you're in the store. I really love this store! I got my homecoming dress here for 38 dollars. They also have a wide collection of jewelry from eras from the 30's to the 70's. The staff are friendly and helpful. While I was there the dress I was trying on was going to need adjusted in certain places and the staff was very helpful in telling me the best way to have it fitted. Hands down the most well-organized, lovingly curated vintage store I have ever set foot in, and I've been wearing and collecting vintage since I was 12. After following TRV on Instagram for about 2 years, I FINALLY got there last week, and it was even better than I could have imagined. Honey, I thought I died and went to vintage heaven! It was my absolute pleasure meeting and chatting with the fabulous and friendly owner, Scott, who so clearly gives these beautiful garments the respect they deserve. In my nearly 3 decades of shopping vintage all over the country (with 6 solid years scouring the racks of NYC), I have never seen inventory so lovingly cared for. Everything is tagged with pertinent information (waist size, decade, etc), hung from hangers with vinyl shoulder covers to protect the garments, and the inventory is actually organized by size, which makes shopping so much more expedient and eliminates the typical grunt work of digging through racks and racks of things that would never work. The selection is unreal, the prices are more than fair, and 60s dreamboat shopgirl, Kayla Marie, was an absolute doll with a wealth of knowledge about inventory, sizing, fit and styling. She helped me pick out some amazing pieces to try on based on a brief description of what I was looking for, and I left the store with 2 sweet dresses, an adorable black and blue peignoir, and a lurex maxi skirt set for under a Benjamin! They also have a large men's selection with an unreal amount of accessories (tie tacks and bars, cuff links, etc), all very reasonably priced and beautifully organized, and I didn't even get into all the women's shoes and accessories, but they are aplenty! The energy of both employees and customers in the shop was super welcoming, and tbh, I can't wait to go back and give them more of my money. Let me first mention that we are both young African American ladies (queens :-) ). The owner of the store never spoke to us and also followed us around the store. It was sooooooo obvious. We would look at a section, he would come right behind us. As we looked around I had three items in mind that I wanted to buy from him. But I left, that store will never in life get my money. I found a couple great pieces I wanted to try on but the owner (I assumed he was the owner from other reviews here) followed me around the store and made me feel very uncomfortable. He also has up a very rude sign about how "window shoppers" may "look but not touch" followed by a plethora of rules. It was too bad because I found two items I loved but there was no way I was giving that rude person my business. I'm surprised this place has stayed in business this long with that attitude. I absolutely love this store! You can immediately tell the owner takes great pride in his merchandise and has an eye for true vintage. All the items are neatly displayed and it doesn't feel cluttered at all. He took the time to hand select a few pieces he thought would look good on me and even helped me try them on and told me a little bit about where each piece came from.
