We booked another hotel next to this one but learned on reaching the place that there cannot be more than 4 in one room under fire safety rules. So we ended up in this motel as luckily we found one last room big enough to hold 2 kids , 3 adults. To my surprise to the word "motel" , this place was a great find ! It had a very upscale hotel attached to it that is so popular that you will be lucky to try find a seat there. Since we failed twice we were still not disappointed. Turns out that the shack in front of beach has a great bar, live music, oyster bar and the great seafood served there as well. Only incentive you get is you are sitting out right facing the beautiful beach. The motel is less expensive than others , has a swimming pool, clean rooms, very good service and huge private beach area to play as compared to others Another great thing is that they also have an amazing local farm food breakfast that is truly delicious. I am thinking to actually make this a routine vacation every year. You don't need a beach house now. Check the pictures that I have added to this . Took them early morning by my phone.

My family and I have been staying here for years and there's a reason we keep coming back. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and you definitely get the attention and feel of an old Cape mom and pop business. They have their own private beach (with beach chairs you can borrow for free for the day!), a breakfast/lunch cafe and a tiki bar that was has been growing exponentially year after year (they now have Ocean House staff serving food and bar-tending) The overall location is great too - it's close to the main roads and restaurants but far enough away that you don't feel like you are in a congested and crowded touristy area. The rooms need a little TLC, i.e. wood paneling, outdated bathroom, old mattresses. But for the amount of time you spend in the room, it's fine. Each room also has it's own balcony/patio area. The rooms that face the ocean definitely are the best with their lay down chairs and privacy dividers. It's also very family friendly with the pool and large grassy area in the middle of the hotel.

The expansion of the Ocean House is at the expense of the hotel. This has been evident over the past few years. It is even more so true now.

The pool was warm, and staff were all smiles. Teddy was my fave! She's the bomb. We celebrated our 27th anniversary here, and the team went the extra mile with rose petals in the room--a heartfelt surprise that made the stay feel extra special. The room was spacious, clean, and came equipped with a microwave and fridge--perfect for beach-day leftovers. The shower was spotless, the parking lot had plenty of space, and the location is pure gold. Now the pool... that's my only complaint. It was so nice, I hated leaving it. Seriously, it's relaxation personified. And the staff? Beyond courteous--these folks are customer-centric pros who know how to deliver a memorable stay. You're steps from three great restaurants, just three blocks from the beach, and an easy hour's drive to Provincetown. It's got that hipster-chic vibe with real Cape Cod soul. If you're looking for a chill, upgraded, noise-canceling, poolaxing experience--this is the spot. Tell them this freakin' vegan from NYC sent you. It has a great location steps to the beach (about 250 according to the innkeeper), a pool, a newly obtained liquor license so you can purchase drinks, and a friendly staff. It all made for a pleasant place to stay. The included continental breakfast was very nice - it is limited to 8am to 9:30am. A nice selection of yogurts, cereals, bread items, fruit, hard boiled eggs, juice. Also has one of those press a button, get a pancake machine. A couple of toasters, but they toast slowly. Fresh coffee is available at 7am, and Keurig machine is located in the lobby. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful flowers and greenery out front. The rooms all have chairs so you can sit outside with a pool in the center of property. A good idea for the Commodore would be to install a clothes drying rack in front of the rooms since everyone uses the chairs to hang wet bathing suits, towels, etc.. could make things more convenient and look neater. The rooms were nicely updated. The bathroom in our room (125) was very small, but luckily the sink is outside. The toilet/bathtub area's door barely clears the toilet so it feels a bit small - especially if its more than 2 in a room. The in the wall AC worked well, and the white noise it generates help to block outside noise. There was an issue about drinking your own alcohol you brought in since they now have a liquor license. There was sign in the room that your own alcohol could not be consumed anywhere on the grounds. I never heard of this before, but Massachusetts has strange liquor laws so something you may want to keep in mind. I like they have free to borrow beach chairs and beach carts for bringing stuff to the beach - so no need to pay the $20 parking fee to bring a car to the super close beach. Shuffleboard and cornhole games are on the grounds. Harwich is a nice, family friendly town with some nice places to eat nearby, or a short drive to other parts of the Cape. A good place to stay especially if beach accessibility is your thing!
