Second Wind Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Plymouth, Massachusetts in May 2018. It was…read morefounded by homebrewing friends J.R. Shepard, Ken Semcken, and Hans Terbush. The three partners would spend weekends together homebrewing with friends and fine-tuning their beer. Terbush became a certified beer server and Semcken and Shepard passed the exam to become certified Cicerones (the beer equivalent of a wine sommelier). Eventually, they wanted to open their own brick & mortar brewery. Second Hand's small taproom and outdoor beer garden opened on Howland Street in 2018. The popularity of their beer soon took off, and in 2020 their 3 1/2-barrel system was upgraded to a 7-barrel system. An even larger secondary taproom with a full kitchen opened down the street at 11 Main Street in December 2025. While most of the brewing operations still continue at the original Howland Street location, customers can enjoy more space and a delicious menu of food curated by Chef Stephen Coe at the Main Street location. Coe is locally famous for his Lobsta Love food trucks and nationally known for his win against celebrity chef Bobby Flay on the Food Network's "Chopped: Beat Bobby Flay."  I recently visited both of Second Wind Brewing's locations while I was in Plymouth for the day. After checking out a couple of other breweries in town, I headed for the Howland Street taproom. Things are a little smaller here, but they offer a more intimate experience. The outdoor patio seating is a nice place to kick back on a warm weather day. I pulled up a seat at the bar and enjoyed a can pour of "Cent'anni" (Italian Pilsner), followed by a draught pour of "Four the Shore" [2026] (Session New England IPA). The pilsner was crisp and refreshing while the IPA was light with nice notes of citrus and tropical fruit. Afterwards, I made a short walk down the street to the larger taproom. It was much more spacious here and there were some flatsceen TVs playing sports games. I pulled up a seat at the bar and looked over the food menu. I ordered the "Pork Belly & Mozzarella Arancini" (served with/ romesco, arugula & cheese sauce) and the "Buffalo Chicken Caesar Wrap" (Romaine Caesar dressing, blue cheese croutons) with "Sidewinder Fries". The food was excellent! I washed it down with a draught pour of "Buckshot" (Hazy IPA). verall, I had an enjoyable experience at both locations and I would definitley return to either one the next time I'm in Plymouth!

Everything we tried tasted amazing, and the bartender's recommendations were spot on. The locals coming in were just as awesome. Everyone was friendly and gave us the rundown on all the best spots to check out around town. Such a welcoming, laid-back place with great beer and even better people. Definitely glad we stopped in!

Total New England thing happened here…read more.. On our Father's Day Bew Hop of 2024 our paths crossed with a family in Plymouth, MA at another brewery (Vitamin Sea.) The guys kibitzed for awhile with the father. Low and behold, we walk into Lucky Goat and there he is behind the counter! Small world. It wasn't busy. We were just passing through to get to a friends outing in the Cape. My husband drank one beer and then bought more to go. I enjoyed talking to our new found friend as they were bottling and adding labels to beer. I got a little education on the process. They were getting ready for a chaity event later that night. All proceeds would be going toward saving some march land. When I talk about nice guys- Lucky Goat has them! (True score: 3.5, no food!)

My friend who owns a business just up the street suggested we meet there for dinner tonight and boy am I glad she did! This is a top of style restaurant with small portions, but each is packed full of flavor. Everything was excellent! The service, the atmosphere, the food! The food! The food! Every thing I tasted was a delight. There were so many amazing flavor, combinations, and spices and sauces that complemented each dish. We ordered five items and all of them were excellent. I can't wait to go back! My only complaint is I didn't arrive hungrier. I would've and could've tried more items on the menu. I also wish I wasn't so enamored with the food so I could have snapped a few pics. It was just too good!

Buckshot is our favorite and it's served cold. They were generous with giving samples if you're undecided on which brew to choose. Many TV's, a small bar area and maybe 10-15 tables, not a huge space. Staff seems very friendly. Always liked the garage-type outdoor venue that is nearby. Give it a try if you like beer. My friend and I had a comedically negative experience here last night. Have you ever gone to an…read moreestablishment and felt like you must have missed the sign on the door that had a picture of your face on it that read "DO NOT SERVE"? Because that's essentially how we were treated by our server. She was an older woman with brow hair and the coldest demeanor I have ever encountered in a brewery or restaurant setting. It took fifteen minutes to get menus and another twenty minutes until I got up and just went straight to the bar to order our drinks and food. I know--at that point we should have left, but we have been here before and enjoyed the beer. We tried to politely get her attention several times, and I swear each time she would zoom right by us or even take a totally different path among tables. Like I said, I took my business straight up to the bar and the bartender was super sweet and put our order in and brought our drinks in a couple of minutes. The OG waitress came back with the food order and slammed some napkins down on the table and trotted off. My friend and I both just stared at each other and laughed. We were sitting at a communal table alongside a couple and the gentleman said, "She's got a gentle touch, doesn't she?" We had a good laugh, but the couple confirmed that this had been the vibe since they arrived a half hour before us. In that respect, I guess the OG waitress helped to build community last night, leaving us not to wonder, "Did we do something wrong," but rather, "Woof, wonder what's wrong in her world." It didn't last long though. She stopped by once at last call to which my friend immediately declined. The OG waitress then brought the checks for both parties, though oddly, she collected the couples next to us and the folks behind us, but not ours. We watched the couple leave and the table behind us, and again, we watched the OG waitress totally avoid eye contact and literally clear half our table and surrounding trash, but seemed to be adamant about not taking our cards to process. So again, we traveled to the bar to settle up and leave. The OG waitress came up and was talking to the bartender and clearly stated, "Next time, I'm not doing this. I'm going to be behind the bar and you're gonna be running the floor." Boy, we do love a lack of accountability and a poor team player! In regard to the beer, I ordered the Cape House, which was OK and my friend ordered the Vanilla Cream Madagascar which she really did enjoy. We ordered wings and queso. The wings were super dry and came with what was a low quality, store bought blue cheese dip. The queso cheese was really disappointing--it had a pleasant kick to it, but it also had a grainy texture. The tortilla chips that came with the queso were stale! Unfortunately, I will be back here as they also charged my card TWICE last night. Wish me luck!
