He took the time to teach us about wine in a way that was engaging, approachable, and incredibly informative. I even found myself fact-checking a few of the things he shared afterward--and he was absolutely right! I left with a much better understanding of wine and a completely different appreciation for it. The wines themselves were outstanding. Every sample was thoughtfully selected, and we loved them so much that we ended up taking home three bottles. It's rare to find a winery where every recommendation feels like a winner, but Lake Fire nailed it. The winery itself is just as memorable as the wine. Much of the wine reflects the local harvest. Apples, pears, strawberries, rhubarb, and locally grown grapes are used to make wines that are truely Yooper. I ended up getting a bottle of the 4 berry wine. It has a perfect blend of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. I had a sample and was delightfully pleased with the balance between sweetness and tartness. FYI: they charge $5.00 for wine tasting. Next time in the area, I plan to get the strawberry rhubarb wine.
