The Gingham Tree is an absolute gem in the world of resale shops. All proceeds go directly to Good Samaritan Hospital. Aside from a few managers, the staff are strictly volunteers. The donations are impeccably checked for cleanliness, chips, holes and working order. There are some awesome deals to be had. By the way, Goodwill is much higher priced and lacks the discretion of the Gingham Tree. Go find out for yourself and you will not be disappointed. There's some bad business going on in this shop. I was there the other day and they had a bunch of Nike new in box shoes. One of the volunteers called her daughter who came and bought the whole lot, including the box I had in my basket to purchase (while I was in the changing room). The shoes were marked $50 per pair but the volunteer gave a 50% discount to her daughter so she ended up paying $25 per pay and bought all 5 pairs. I will be sharing this info with management. Also, I was in line and the woman in front of me had several items but I waited patiently, no big deal. I had 5 items and the woman assisting the cashier said they were going to take the man behind me first because he only had one item. WTF is that? Then I double checked the price tags of things before I paid and the same woman said she's never had anyone double check prices, as though I was the problem. These volunteers hold items back push them out at a discount not offered to anyone else, don't go in line order and then act all offended because I doubled checked the price tags?!? This place needs some oversight. Volunteers shouldn't be basically ripping off a charity by steeply discounting goods for their relatives. read more

The gingham tree is a well kept secret that I discovered when I lived in the area. Estate sales and thrifting is a hobby I learned years ago from friends who were decorators. You can find odd items including unique artwork or sometimes whimsical things. I have purchased things for other people that they may have needed and also holiday decor and small appliances such as keurig for work and never had any issues. They test everything. There is one little elderly volunteer who is the sweetest and most savvy. It's always a joy to see her. read more

I adore this place! They take local donations and the money filters back to the hospital. Their stock is always clean and "moving". I have never seen and item that "should have been thrown away" rather than placed out for sale. When I was working corporate I found this to be a great place to purchase "lightly used" jackets for a fraction of "new" prices. The have lots of glassware, books, toys and small appliances. There jewelry selection is always full of LOTS of options. Their only rule "no TV's" and this is understandable. read more

Love this quaint resale shop. I come into town every couple of months and always stop here. High quality clothes, jewelry, shoes and lots of home decor. Also an absolute friendly atmosphere. I never leave empty handed. A must stop if you love resale stores. read more

Gingham Tree is a medium-sized thrift store staffed by volunteers and supporting the Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital (on whose grounds it can be found). Prices seem to be higher than you'd find at Goodwill, but you may be more likely to find nicer brands of clothing at Gingham Tree. It seems as though women may have an easier time finding a new outfit than men - their section is larger. There was a nice little selection of men's outerwear, though... overcoats and rain jackets. The volunteers available to help are friendly and uber-plentiful. In fact, when I was there, the volunteers outnumbered actual customers by at least a two- or three-to-one ratio. That may be good or bad depending on how you like to shop. I usually like to check out gadgets and small appliances at thrift stores. I found some things straight from the 1970s and 80s on the shelves. You are unlikely to find the exact thing you're looking for in this section, but you may find something you never knew you needed. If you're a thrift-store addict like me, you might want to put Gingham Tree on your regular circuit. read more

This shop is very clean, neat and well organized. Everything is displayed beautifully and while some of the prices are higher than a thrift store, they are in line for the quality and uniqueness of the items. Many of the women's clothes seem appropriate for older women, but I still found several pieces I liked. The designer section is especially nice. I also liked the selection of lamps in several styles. Whoa nobody has commented on the Gingham Tree?!?! On this rainy day off I decided to make a run of several secondhand shops I haven't visited in a while. This one is an old favorite. This little shop is tucked away behind Good Samaritan Hospital. Things are well organized and clean, pricier items are usually under glass at the front counter. There's sections with clothes, home goods, art, books, sewing, shoes etc. There's generally a good mix of vintage and current merchandise. read more

This place is a hidden treasure. It's run for the benefit of Good Samaritan Hospital. Open six days a week and a recent change is that it opens at 7:30 a.m. 3 days a week. Everything but the kitchen sink. Love the wide selection of books. If I were furnishing my first apartment, I'd make a beeline for Gingham Tree. Found a $60.00 purse this week for $4.00 Bargain hunters paradise! it would be 5 star if there was a better selection of plus size women clothing. read more
