Review for Goodwill Outlet in Romeoville: At first, we were very excited to have an outlet closer to us. When we first visited on a Saturday, the line outside was very short, which was a pleasant surprise. The outlet had a good selection of bins for clothes, but we noticed that there were only a few bins for shoes and purses. However, our main concern was the miscellaneous bins. Unfortunately, this outlet has to be the worst in terms of the condition of the bins. Every single bin we looked into had broken glass in it. This was a major issue for us as it posed a safety hazard. We have been to many outlets before and have come across the occasional random knife or piece of glass, but never have we seen every single bin filled with broken glass. We believe that there needs to be a better system in place to address this issue. It is understandable to find a few items that may pose a safety risk, but having broken glass in every bin is unacceptable. We would strongly recommend that the management of the Goodwill Outlet in Romeoville takes immediate action to resolve this problem. read more

The store is always clean, every time I visit the employees are busy and courteous. They have a broad selection, but I find most of their stuff--particularly the clothes--are overpriced. Additionally, they have eliminated their long-standing senior-, color coded-, and veteran discount days. I don't like what they've replaced it with. Consequently, I won't be going there--and spending as much--as I did before. That's a shame, because I like supporting their work. read more

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! I've been frequenting the bins in Wisconsin for over a year and jumped for joy when I found out a new location would be developed 20 minutes from my house! Typically I try to reserve several hours for a true Outlet/Bins experience, but I was too antsy and stopped by a few weeks ago when I had about 90 minutes. I don't shop to flip, so I'm usually just looking personally and go home with more clothing than anything. Well, I got caught up in the books section! So many great finds for both kids and adult books. I was surprised that they were $1/book (isn't that the same as Goodwill?) but it was still a deal and I stuck with it. With the 30 minutes I had for the remainder of the bins, I found some great name-brand women's items and left happy. If you haven't been to a Goodwill Outlet before, ensure you know what you're walking into (and even if you are prepared, you still may be shocked). Piles of clothing and blankets and anything soft - no size sorting, no gender sorting - it's all about luck and searching. I still get overwhelmed every time I visit the Outlets but once I get in a groove, there's no stopping me! Romeoville still needs to learn the Outlet Etiquette (one person per bin, specifically), but I assume it'll get better as time goes on! read more

Great concept that finally came to the suburbs. It is a little chaotic but.... If you have time to pick, it could be worth it! If you know/own a charity for less fortunate..... THIS IS A GREAT DEAL! If you know/own a pet charity..... this is great to find blankets, towels, sheets and tee shirts to help the fur babies! If you want to buy clothes or toys for a less fortunate family but don't have the extra.....YOU CAN FIND PRETTY GOOD STUFF HERE! An example.....my son in law spotted a lulu lemon jacket, very good condition.... goes for $60 and up on ebay....paid about$2 for it! I got 2 BRAND NEW set of blue 100 Christmas lights for less than a dollar!! Many more finds can be made. Here's how it works..... From my pictures you see bins. They mostly have clothing and ARE NOT SORTED BY SIZE, GENDER, TYPE. You have to have an eye or patience. Bins ARE CHANGED OUT RANDOMLY AND THE GOOD PICKERS WILL LINE UP! IT'S cool and crazy because they know exactly what they are looking for! But, the system runs smoothly! Lots of clothing, jackets, shoes, purses!! Shoes are banded as the pair so not too hard to find a good pair. Book selection is good but at $1 a book I'm thinking it's not that great of a deal. Electronics are not great unfortunately but to be understood. I will say....I felt bad for ANYTHING BREAKABLE. They seem to try and put smaller glass/ceramic items in a bankers box bit, some unkind people just toss it over. BE CAREFUL WHEN DIGGING that's all in saying. I did find a cute ceramic holiday house though! Location and parking are great! Do remember though...THERE ARE NO BAGS FOR YOU UNLESS YOU BUY ONE. we just unloading into my trunk. Well, first off, the parking lot is small, and unless you get there before they open, be prepared to have to circle around a couple of times to get a spot, unless you get lucky and happen to get there when someone is leaving...otherwise, you will have to follow someone leaving to their car, stalker style. When you get there, go to the bathroom...no one watches carts, and chances are that if you thought something was good enough to buy, someone else will too while you're in the restroom, and you will be sad. Bring gloves. If you forget, they sell them for 50 cents a pair...and it's worth it because you are going to have to dig. New carts come out about every 20 minutes, and people line up 2-3 deep (I went on a Friday morning)--and the staff is pretty good about keeping people orderly, and not letting anyone start digging before they say it's ok to. It's mostly clothes. Only 4 carts of shoes, 3 of purses, and about 6-8 of household goods, and no new ones of those came out the entire 2 hours I was there. And it's mostly resellers and grandmothers trying to get stuff for their grandchildren. Unless you are prepared--or already know the rules, checkout can be a nightmare. Everything has to be weighed separately (they have the prices on the wall). Books are a dollar. So are CDs, DVDs, etc if I remember correctly. Purses have to be weighed independently of shoes. Electronics are weighed separately. So are clothes. It's not for the faint of heart, and definitely a crapshoot...and it can be fun, with the right attitude. read more

Keep your personal belongings on your person and keep an eye on your cart! Someone plucked a cute bag out of my cart while I was sifting through items in a nearby bin. And then about 10 minutes later, someone took my entire cart! I was no more than five feet away from my cart in both instances. I like hunting for fun items at Goodwill. This was my first experience at an outlet store and it was extremely disappointing to be surrounded by greedy and desperate shoppers in an environment that really should serve as a reminder that there is more than enough to go around. read more

Honestly so disappointed with this place. If I could give this place a zero I would. Went here this morning (couple weeks ago) and saw a BIRD flying around stuck for who knows how long. None of the employees, managers, or any of the costumers cared to catch and release it. Nor did they call animal control to rescue the bird. My friends and I were trying to catch him for hours... no luck. Came back later and after an hour we finally caught him in a trash can where we released him outside. None of the workers seemed to care whatsoever nor did they say thank you. I truly cannot comprehend how so many people did not care or even tried to help. It makes me sad that this probably isn't the first time this has happened. Goodwill makes enough profit they could at least call animal control or a wildlife rescue center. Very good value but you really have to look at things. A lot of things are stained or ripped people are like vultures in here. I had someone try to steal my phone out of my pocket, but I felt it being removed out of my pocket so I saved that from happening people are really weird here that's all I have to say, the bins are pretty overwhelming. You need at least a couple hours here don't get me wrong. The values are great if you look carefully but it's complete sensory overload. read more

This place could be fantastic... the staff is nice and it's always a blast to go on a treasure hunt. However, the staff and management need to do something about the group of teenage boys that live in this store. Legitimately laying in bins, eating lunch in the front of the store, they're carts are everywhere and its off putting to everyone else who wants to shop here. They are apparently there all the time from open until close. Management needs to handle this. read more

It's the best the manager was awesome good stuff here if you're patient. I found tons of designer clothes. I got a few hard goods and shoes and completely filled my cart with $$$ items. I couldn't find a cart because they were all taken and the manager went and found one for me. The workers were nice and people there were pretty cool. read more

Nice clean and large facility. Not enough parking for this location. I feel that the bins are loaded way too much with piles of clothing and it really makes it hard to go through a bin without straining your back and shoulders. I have been to other outlets and they don't pile up the clothing as the Romeoville location. Not enough checkout registers and weighing the purchases is different from other locations. You have to put all items on the counter scale, verses weighing you cart. Glad to finally have this location so close to home. read more

Let me start out by saying, I am a huge fan of Goodwill, I kind of knew what I was getting into when I was walking in there, but I was so disappointed that it makes me not want to support Goodwill in general. The fact that they are selling dirty clothes with stains, broken toys, dirty stuffed animals with literal cigarette burns in them, Filthy shoes, to list a few. People should NOT be charged for filthy clothes. I wouldn't give someone clothes that were this dirty let alone charge someone for them. It makes me realize that this company doesn't support what they say they support and are about squeezing every dime out of inventory they got for free. There comes a point where you just stop and reevaluate your merchandise and take a loss because in the long run, it will be a gain because you will not have angry customers like me who are upset they had to rummage thru a pile of dirty busted up merchandise. I don't care if you are poor or rich, no one should have to pay for dirty clothes. Do better Goodwill. read more
