After seeing a tiktok last year about Stars Resale Shop, I've been wanting to thrift here. I can't believe I waited so long. It was full of great labels and the clothes and shoes in excellent condition. Not to mention very roomy and clean fitting rooms and the shop is meticulously organized. I walked out with an entire bag of clothes. Something I almost never do They have a housewares selection too. I love coming to Stars, not only because of their mission but because they are very organized and always changing items out for the seasons. Every week they have a sale on a specific colored tag to have extra savings. They hire adults with special needs that work there, which they call "Stars." It is so sweet! The front area of the store is dedicated to clothing and accessories, the back has a bunch of household items. I LOVE shopping here! So happy they expanded and opened a new location. read more

I like Stars but the resellers are just gross. I was looking at a set of 4 crystal water glasses. I had one in my hand. A woman came and grabbed the other three then stood there staring at me! She then had the audacity to ask me for the glass I was holding while laughing. I refused to give it to her. She then followed me around the store. It was ridiculous. Needless to say, she did not get the full set of four. She got in her old minivan with the three and sped off. Then this morning I see a different person posting photos online from inside Stars selling stuff for profit. read more

Stars has a wonderful selection of almost anything. What's great is that they are always getting new items; if you don't find something one day, you're bound to on your next visit! The prices are very good. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Fun place to shop! read more

Overwhelming to say the least. A ton of kitchenware- dishes, china sets, platters, etc. sometimes chipped. Wow. Just wow. I can usually go the distance at these places but this one really kicked my butt! The aisles are pretty narrow and it gets old having to squeeze by people. read more

Stars Resale Shop has plenty to offer- the entire front room where you check out is shoes and clothes. The back rooms are "home" items: lamps, china, electronics, small appliances (I bought an instapot!), sewing, games, music and some furniture. Everything is organized incredibly well. You can find gems here but for the most part it's like a garage sale: some stuff is clean, other stuff is dusty. Most everything is priced to move though! The few interactions I've had with people are friendly- they mostly stay behind the desk with the register. I once asked for some help and the person replied "I'm not able to leave the register". Disclaimer- this is a religious based establishment. All proceeds stay local in Wheaton and benefit the disability ministry of College Church. There are several religious items around of you were looking for that. read more

Visited the store recently. I was disappointed that they were selling way overpriced electronics. For example, an old digital camera that only had 16 Megapixels was priced at $346! Oh my gosh, that is too high for an old obsolete camera. They also had a Bose cd player that was too overpriced! They are too greedy considering that they are selling these electronics too high while they are donated for Free. read more

This is my favorite place EVER since moving to Illinois I was introduced to stars. I love to go resale shopping!! This place is just amazing everyone who comes To visit me I take them here. I had my aunt from Indiana visiting me I brought her to stars she fell in love with a loveseat in their show room she couldn't get her mind off of it even after we left the store we were trying to figure out the logistics of how she could buy it get a truck and get it back to Indiana so I called stars and spoke to Kelly and she told us we could pay for it and since it was Saturday and they were closed on Sunday we could come back on Monday to get it but she also wanted to let us know that there was a matching couch. My aunt was now in heaven Kelly said we should come by and look at the couch. Of course we went right away she wanted both of them so being a sporadic person I told my aunt we had all day let's just go get a truck and do it Stephanie and her husband Dan said that if we got a van they would help us load it in to the van These people could not have been nicer they were very accommodating and just plain helpful after we got the couch and loveseat into the Home Depot van I saw a dresser that I wanted and Stephanie said we could fit it in there so I got a dresser out of it and it was beautiful and only $50. If you want to go somewhere that feels like family go to stores resell and say hello to Kelly Stephanie and Dan love these people read more

Every time I go here they have quite a bit of selection at extremely decent and fair prices. The employees are extremely helpful. They'll laugh with you, they'll chat with you and you feel valued there and you can find some real treasures here. I got a whole bag of clothes for less than $50 and they looked almost brand new! This is actually one of my very favorite thrift stores of all! read more

They are in a great location in downtown Wheaton, and they have a great selection of items, but they are expensive for a second hand shop.

Well organized, very clean shop with super friendly staff and volunteers. The new location (and management) are amazing! Light-filled and well-stocked showrooms. Definitely worth a visit. Rapid turnover as donated items are sorted daily and STARS work hard to get items on the floor. There is additional parking around the building in a small lot- usually has open spots. read more

Fun resale adventure. This is a Hidden gem- great treasures, lots of space- clean and a fun place to shop!

Small church-run thrift shop near the train station. Books roughly organized by subject; clothing roughly organized by type/size; some shoes. Adult paperbacks, 50 cents, hardcover $1. Surprisingly large selection of glassware; very cheap small suitcases, laptop bags. Several apparently new Paula Young wigs when I visited. Dressing rooms available. The sale of items donated to STARS benefit and support its Family Services, which help intellectually disabled adults. Slightly intrusive religious music, religious slogans chalked on the walls and a definite religious slant to the books. Worth a quick browse if you get to the train station and need to kill some time. read more

Some of the older ladies that work in the shop are incredibly rude. "Please" and "thank you" would go a long way... The younger staff -- what look like high schoolers or college students -- are very nice and polite. The selection is usually very good! It's small so turnover isn't super fast, but I usually find something. Wide selection of housewares; decent selection of clothes. read more

I am a long time customer and have donated almost every month. I direct others to shop and donate - because it is for such a wonderful cause. I understand we are in strange times. But I can no longer look the other way when the manager (Becky) and some other adults are nasty, snippy and act like they are above everyone else. I have heard the manager be nasty to the young college staff. I have hear her snippy to customers. There are also clothing items that are dirty and stained, dishes that are broken and put out for sale, and many items WAY over priced. I have never experienced a resale store that treats people they way they are treated at Stars. Shame on you. And shame on College Church for allowing this. read more

I really like shopping at resale/thrift stores and this is a good one. The parking can be a bit challenging since it's by the College Avenue train station, so keep an open mind and search for a spot when you get close. They have a small lot, but those spots can be hard to get. When you shop at a spot like this you have to be open minded. You can't go in thinking "I am looking for XXXX" because they might not have that, but they will have something else that's great. I found a Cabi long sweater jacket that was in great shape. Black with a hood for $10. That probably cost $80 or $90 new. I also found a short cardigan for $3 which was a Kohl's brand. They had lots of designer jeans and other name brands all through the store. I didn't really look at the purses since I was in a hurry, but I saw some good ones, don't know prices. The money raised at this store goes to help developmentally challenged adults. Some of them work in the store as well. It is affiliated with College Church, the church near the Wheaton College campus so you may see religious signs or hear some music while you shop. I was very happy with my finds and will be visiting again! read more

I like dropping in at this place and donating there too since it was close to my house, but now they are moving downtown. I have found the occasional treasure and some good used kids clothes, but I agree some stuff is overpriced and the managers are pretty uppity and rude for it being a supposed "Christian" establishment. read more

I love this store! The space is relatively small, but the managers arrange the three rooms creatively and thoughtfully. They have careful procedures in place for virus protection, and are carrying on now that they are open again with a fully stocked store. One time I went to buy "painting clothes' for a messy home project, and found some things in my size, but they were so much better than my own clothes I "graduated" one of my own outfits to be my new painting clothes, and put the slacks and tops from STARS in my closet! I have gotten everything from kids' snow pants, toys, and books, to Christmas decorations, sheets and towels, china mugs, health equipment and even furniture. At Christmas time this year I ventured in to find a pair of shoes for a grandchild who showed up from a southern state, inexplicably, without shoes! She delighted with the Elsa light up shoes in her size that I happened upon. Shopping in a resale store is a bit of a potluck because you never know what you will find, but I usually find something at STARS! Something I love about donating and shopping at STARS is that it directly benefits our own community. The proceeds go towards several residential family homes in Wheaton for adults with cognitive disabilities, and adults with disabilities also work in the store under supervision. Parking can be a little tricky, but the street parking meters take other coins besides quarters, even though they are marked for quarters. read more

I visited this shop because I heard it benefitted homes for adults with mental disabilities. It does. They have a few of the adults they benefit working in the shop. They put out new merchandise under the supervision of another adult. The shop is packed. A fair amount of clothes, a huge amount of shoes, miscellaneous household and a lot of dishes. They have a separate room for kids items and a room in the back with their "better" donations and furniture. I hoped to find something I'd like to buy, but their pricing is completely unrealistic. Great shop! The resale shop had a wide variety of electronics (My item of choice to look for in resale shops) and organizers. They have organizers of many different shapes and sizes perfect for anyone needing one. They also have a variety of great, working electronics (Demonstrated and on display). I've had great success finding deals at Stars. I only recently started stopping into this shop, and don't think I've ever left empty handed. Usually I am able to find name brand kids clothes- Hanna Andersson, Matilda Jane, Gap - and often new with tags! Colored tag sales every day. Clothing items are priced very fairly. Today I got a pair of Gap baby boys pants for $.50. I do want to mention especially after reading the comments, I did observe an older female worker be rude to a customer with a young child today. She was mad that the woman's child was playing with toys in the children's area, and her tone was very condescending. I have however had great interactions with other employees. read more

I love this shop! I am happy to donate clothing and household items to STARS knowing that I am supporting individuals with disabilities in our community. Almost every time I drop off a donation and take a minute to look around the well organized store, I find something to buy at a great price- a decorative item, a like-new jacket for my son, a piece of furniture for one of my young adult children, a puzzle or game for the family. So many treasures in this little shop. Best resale store around! read more

DO NOT DONATE HERE! The woman with the short, curly brown hair that runs the establishment has to be the most unapproachable, selfish human being. I went to donate a sizable amount of furniture and clothing. I asked if she would be willing to give out a few $25 credits or something to help people in the community in need. She was completely unwilling to do so citing "I have a business to run" as her reason. Her entire business is based off of donations from the community. She was curt and talked down to me. I will never donate to stars again and I would be weary of doing so if I were you. This is not a community oriented establishment. read more

I look forward to going to this resale shop, I have found many gifts for grandkids there that both the kids and their parents really like. I enjoy seeing the ever changing displays of new inventory. Great for seasonal decorations! A favorite place in the store is the furniture-home decor treasures-antiques room! Often pleasantly surprised by finds I would not have expected to be in their inventory. A first reaction now when there is a practical need at home is, "Let's check out STARS"! Went there today for the first time and was disappointed. Their prices are very reasonable however most of the merchandise was garage sale quality, not what I was expecting for the location. It was very small and difficult to navigate. Found one item, a vintage Mother of Pearl Broach and matching earrings. May try it again after the holidays since they had a lot of Christmas things on display. read more

I have driven by this store many times since I live in the area but have never been in. Drove by with my sleeping child at 9:57 this morning. The giant flag out front that says "OPEN" was flying high so I thought I'd stop in. I parked and woke my sleeping child to enter the shop and a lady opened the door for me to tell me that they don't open until 10 and promptly shut the door on me. If you're going to be that strict with the hours don't wave your giant flag that says "OPEN" until you actually want customers. read more
