Horrible prices. Almost everything was wildly overpriced. Some examples: - Promotional branded liquor apparel that is usually given out for free being sold for $20-$30 - an empty bottle of beefeater gin with some christmas lights shoved inside being sold for $18 - all shoes $30. I can buy new adidas at the outlet mall for $40. Why would I want them used for more than $12? The furniture was all $200-$700. Yes, it was nice, heavy wood, but none of it looked like new or anything. Most of them were a restoration project. I don't want to buy a desk for $500 that has stains in all the drawers and is scuffed all over. I couldn't find any women's pants to try on whatsover for some reason. read more

I mostly drop off clothes and household items at this location. But I have also shopped when I have time. The location has a large parking lot and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They seem to get a lot of corporate items (office furniture and paper goods from the Superbowl back in January). Like most thrift stores, there's a little bit of everything so you never know what you'll find. The store supports Bridge/Grace Houses which offer rehabilitation services. read more

This is absolutely the best thrift store in New Orleans!!! There isn't a lot of junk that you have to go through, just lots of gems. And all to benefit a noble cause, not to line the pockets of executives like at Goodwill and Salvation Army. I noticed another reviewer complained that they didn't have dressing rooms, but they do! That same review also complained about their selection being less than at Goodwill where 75% is trash not worth buying. This is a laid-back place, not a big corporate thrift store. This NEW location of Bridge House Thrift Store on Earhart is replacing the OLD Thrift Store on Camp St., so disregard most of the reviews that were written before 2017. That was the previous location, and incarnation. This location is super neat, has lots of furniture, a nice selection of household items, plenty of framed pieces, clothes, shoes and books. They are always having a sale on something. On my last visit I picked up a barely worn pair of basic flat shoes for $1! There is always a selection of books for only $1! They also had Mardi Gras throws for sale, in case you are riding in a parade. Many, many nice things in every category. It is my new favorite place to bring my donations as I feel much better about helping local folks in recovery than I do about 'donating' to the Goodwill Corporate complex. read more

I went a couple of weeks ago to purchase some winter clothes, after Goodwill (with a shop near my place) had closed all its fitting rooms. The website had indicated that this shop has fitting rooms. I found it to be in a very non-pedestrian friendly location near a highway bridge. When I entered, I saw a very small selection of clothes, in comparison to Goodwill and the main Salvation Army shop on Jefferson Highway - a lot better for furnishings and home items. I saw some winter shawls I was interested in, but they were not even marked with any price! I found some clothes I wanted to try on, despite the fact that the clothes did not seem labelled with any sizes, not even Small, Medium, or Large. and the prices seemed much higher than those at the Jefferson Highway Salvation Army shop or at Goodwill...on par with the Magazine Street shops. However, when I went to the back of the store, I found out that, after all, there was no fitting room! As a 51-year-old lady with a big backside and chest, I can't buy clothes without trying them on! So I put the clothes on the front shelf and started to leave the shop in anger. An employee in front asked me what was wrong, and I told him that the website had said there was a fitting room, but there was none. He then told me that I could try on the clothes in the employee restroom! I was able to do that and found a couple of items I could use. When I went to the cash register to pay for them, the lady was staring at her phone for 5 minutes while taking no notice of me standing there! At least they did give me a special 50% January discount on the clothes. But it was confusing that the prices I was charged were not what were on the labels at all! So, anyway, I am never coming back to this place. I commend that one employee for being helpful. Better to go to Goodwill, which is much better managed and now offers the option to return clothes that don't fit within 3 days, or to the main Salvation Army shop on Jefferson Highway (get there by 4 pm if you want time to fit on clothes!), or to Buffalo Exchange on Magazine St. read more

This is a great place to support. They have a good deal of furniture, clothing, and housewares. It seemed like half the store was on an amazing sale the day I visited. I didn't get anything that day, but I didn't have enough time to really look. I'll definitely be back. Not as large as the salvation army on Jefferson, but they still had great, quality choices. read more

I've been here twice and it seems like a great thrift store to find boots as I found a cute selection both times. The first time I left without a pair I liked and went back hoping they would be there but of course where gone but I did find another and didn't make the mistake again. They have a section to grab last chance items at $1. I will say the prices are high so once you take the 50% off that I received both days I went it brings the price closer to a thrift store bargain. I wonder if certain items are always 50% off as I see a slash through the prices of clothing and other items besides furniture I believe. Maybe the pricing is a way to make the customer feel they are getting a discount while making sure they make enough to support the cause? You must spend $5 to use your credit card or donate the rest to get to the $5 charge. I feel it's supportive for the community Grace House serves so I will continue to buy from there. I have supported this store for the past 3 years so it's tough to only give it 3 stars. I lost my home in Hurricane Michael and relocated to New Orleans. I replaced so much by supporting Bridge House. I felt it was such a great way to give back while for me being able to restart. I've sent so many incoming college students to help them give back while being able to find affordable items to set up apartments. The last couple of times I've been in there I've been shocked at the prices!!! These are used items that are priced way over their value even when you take the 50% off!! Glassware for $4.00 who buys a plain glass for that price? Used lamps for 79.00, you can buy lamps at full price in Walmart for 15-20.00!! I just don't understand the price gouging being done. I'll continue to donate because I feel its a good cause but you are far from a Thrift Store anymore. read more

Ric and I hit the jackpot every time at Bridge House. As someone decades in recovery myself, I can deeply relate to their community focus. I like their prices. I like their workers, always helpful and kind. A few weeks ago we drove over, because I had an intuition that oval shaped restaurant grade plates I was seeking would be there. Sure enough, they were. Last week, a neighbor gave us a small table that simply cried out for a lamp. Walked into Bridge House again, and this nifty lamp was right there on a top shelf. The young man got it down for me; it was exactly what I wanted! Cozily completes a corner of the bedroom, emitting a sweet glow in the evening. And it was only $7.00. Update 12/1: Found yet another wonderful lamp, this one...toy sized, perfect night light. We bought a chest of drawers two days ago. On Black Friday, an easy chair. (And what else would you have in the Big Easy, eh?) Don't miss the "Last Chance Rack" in the rear of the store. A hearty thank you to Jamie who looks after things up front. High five to John, who does heavy lifting so cheerfully! And when considering donations to someplace, please make it to BH. Their heartwarming work helps people reclaim their lives. As thrift stores go, this is more of a warehouse, one that you delve into, not knowing where anything is or where you're going. It's in a warehouse, literally, next door to the main headquarters of the Bridge House charities, who also sell cars down the street and offer rehabilitation, food, and shelter for former inmates. A lot of the people who work at the store are either in their program or just coming out. They are all very nice and friendly and it's great to get to know people that are really trying to change their lives. The prices are pretty good, but be sure to negotiate! You don't even need to haggle. Usually if you ask them the price, Jacques (I think the manager, or at least the guy who does all the pricing), will look at it, cut it to half the given price, and then say, "But I'll give it to you for half that." My friends got a couch for $100 marked $300, and I bought an antique mirror for $20, that was originally marked $80. The treasures here do take a little bit of hunting, so take your time and I guarantee you'll come out with something worth your time. read more

This is a thrift store that gives back to the community, and not simply in a donation or support for political campaigns. So that is a huge plus for me. This place is great for furnishing a home. They had a good amount of furniture and housewares, tables, etc. Admittedly I wasn't there for clothing, but I would guess it's better for housewares. read more

Not the best, cleanest, or most organized. BUT! The staff might be the most customer engaged. PLUS! You can buy a car next door and support the same business / non-profit. Bridge House is a great program for those in need of its services, and the consistency of their car sales and otherwise thrift is nice. The selection is pretty good here. The pricing is just off the wall goofy. I think the person who does the pricing doesn't much shop retail. Why would I buy a cheapo stained coffee maker for $9 or $10 when I can go to Malwart and get a new one for $14? He will negotiate a tiny bit. The people who worked there were all very friendly, and there did seem to be alot of couches. But in the way of clothes and accesories it was a bit of a wasteland. I worked in a retail store and once a year the company would do a massive clean up of inventory. Ever wonder what happens to the clothes that just don't sell? The dumpster. (Background story :sad but true, retailers don't want to risk people trying to "return" the clothes for cash, we fixed this by slashing though the brand name with a sharpie so we would know if someone tried) Something just did not sit right with me to throw away 14 boxes of perfectly good unworn clothes. Lacking a truck, I made a phone call to Bridge House and they happily came and picked it up from my location and were so grateful for the donation. This location isn't really about shopping for housewares or clothing - the selection is usually subpar. The real reason to come here is shop for a used car. The guys are friendly and very upfront about what's wrong or right with the car. You can take it to a mechanic of your own choosing to see if it's worth buying before you buy it. I found this place quite by accident, but I am so happy I did! I used to go to the one on airline, but there is a manager there who always treats people very poorly. It got to the point where I avoided going there because I couldn't stand that guy. (Yes, this is personal...he yelled at my girlfriend one day because she wanted to buy a rug and he didn't want to move the furniture that was on top of it.) So far, this place is waaaay different. The people are friendly, there is a fantastic selection, and the shop is clean and inviting. read more

Great place for cheap used furniture. We were quickly trying to find some affordable furniture in the city, and having an extremely difficult time. We stopped by this place on a Saturday and everything was 75% off! They have tons of furniture, plates, decorations, clothes, shoes, etc. The staff were sort of strange, and there were some even stranger people hanging around outside, but don't let that deter you from the good deals. read more

I came to New Orleans and as usual forgot several things, a book to read on the plane ride home and a bathing suit to wear at the New Orleans Athletic Club pool. I was there in November no stores had suits., books sure, bathing suits no. Enter Bridge House. Found my suit, a great white summer skirt (I had dressed for winter, temp was in the 80's), two books and a coffee mug for $4. Pricing can be crazy, the skirt said $12, ended up paying $1. New math I guess. Nice friendly staff at bridge House. If you don't mind digging around a bit you may hit paydirt. The suit and skirt survived a wash at a nearby laundromat, both were great with the warm weather. This place was a trip saver! read more

I was expecting a bigger selection based on the other reviews, but this place was middle-sized (I'm totally spoiled by the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse in Berkeley). They had really neat old kitchen things (some nice antiques too), plenty of chairs, school desks and other good quality furniture, and for some reason a whole bunch of crutches. I like that were so many there, because that means that people who need them can afford them. I learned an important thing too - all the prices with a red slash through them are half-off. I thought this place was kind of expensive at first, but then everything I picked up was half as much as I thought it'd be, making them just slightly more expensive than Goodwill but with a better quality selection. read more

I was perusing the books here and unknowingly $12 fell out of my pocket while I was doing so. An employee walked by and stooped down behind me and picked it up but I wasn't aware at that moment that this is what he was picking up due to being distracted by my search of the books. When I went to check out, I realized what had happened. I'll never go back there. There's no way that employee couldn't have known that $12 was mine because he literally had to pick it up from right underneath me. I probably should have looked at what he was picking up, but he also should have told me I dropped it. He's obviously not on a true road to recovery which is what Bridge House stands for. read more

I have been to Bridge House a few times but haven't found anything for myself. The first time I was looking through their furniture and the second looking for glassware - teacups, beer mugs, etc. - for some craft projects. They had a lot of stuff but nothing that caught my eye. Like most thrift stores, they had a few good finds and lots of junk. I think it is organized decently - could be better but could also be much worse. The prices were pretty good if they were marked 50% off - which almost everything was. I actually give all of my old clothes, furniture, etc. to Bridge House because I like their mission and the people who work there are super friendly! The actual Bridge House (not the store) is a substance abuse program for men, including the homeless and others without the means to pay. read more

I grew up with my parents supporting Bridge House. We found ourselves in New Orleans for the day so we tried our hand at thrifting. There was a lot of parking which is good. The actual thrift store is in a big warehouse type building that's open and pretty well lit. They didn't have anything for me which happens but I gave them only two stars because of the oblivious employees. One was stocking where I was browsing, not only did she run into me twice but she was flirting with another employee the whole time. read more

This is the place to go for used books. The selection is amazing and the price can not be beat. Hardcovers are only $1 and paperbacks are 50 cents. It's also my favorite charity in New Orleans. read more
