We leased a SUV for my wedding party out of their Midland/Odessa airport office. Our wedding was June 6, 2025, at a resort about 40 miles from Marfa, Tx. After the wedding, we drove from our resort into Marfa, Tx., for dinner about 40 miles away. After dinner in Marfa (about 5:00pm) on our wedding day, our SUV had a flat tire in front of the restaurant. We called National Car Rental who transferred us to customer service who transferred me to their roadside assistance (totally worthless). We were told to take the car to El Paso, Tx., 194 miles away or 2 1/2 hours. Obviously they don't understand stand what a flat tire is. After 5 calls to National Car rental (5 messages sent to Midland/Odessa office at the airport were never answered) and their roadside people, nothing happened. We were promised time and time again to wait where we were and a replacement SUV would come. Never happened. Around Midnight, with 7 adults a 3 year old and infant, we got a ride back to the resort. Arrived at the resort around 2:00AM! The next morning we finally got ahold of a small rental place in Ft. Stockton, TX, 1 1/2 hours away, called Small Town Car Rental. These people were wonderful! They bent over 18 different ways to help us. They brought us a SUV. When we returned the SUV to them in Ft. Stockton, Tx., they drove us to the Midland airport to fly home. National Car rental ABANDONED us on our wedding night and have yet to contact us about it. I just thank God we weren't out on a highway, in West Texas with 90+ degree temps with a 3 year old and an infant. I have yet to receive any calls or correspondence from National Car Rental. Wanted to charge a deposit. no problem. She charged it 400.00. then asked if it was a debit card. Yes it was. She cancelled my reservation stating they did not take debit cards. Well they charged it 400.00. so they did take it erroneously. Now stranded at airport. No rental car. 400 out of my account and no way to get it back for 5 days. Due to her error. They they asked me to leave because I was upset. I paid my reservation 3 week prior. in full. Shear incompetance. RUN AWAY FROM NATIONAL RENTAL CAR AT THIS LOCATON. RUN AWAY FROM THEM. I'm a President's Circle member with Hertz and will most likely choose Hertz over any other car…read morerental agency. Why? Because Hertz tends to have the best car selection, cars with low miles, take better care of the maintenance for its cars, and better customer service. Some of this was true for this location. EXCELLENT customer service! When I picked up the vehicle and when I dropped off the vehicle, I was greeted by both female customer service agents. (Sorry ladies I am forgetting your names, but you know who you were! You were are supper friendly and thank you for acknowledging my status with Hertz.) I was not happy with the selection of cars at this location. The car I received had high miles, the outside looked like it had not been washed, and according to the car's dashboard, the oil life of the car needed attention soon. It was my first time to Midland/Odessa, butI quickly learned there are a lot of dust storms. So just be aware of when you arrive and the cars are dirty. I was unhappy with the rental, I returned it within an hour and went with another car rental agency. Hertz, please do better at this location.

But during my trip, Hertz did not live up to the standard it had made me accustomed to during my previous trips. So with that said, I decided to go with Enterprise. Enterprise did not disappoint! I have a credit card for emergencies. I do not use it for anything other than emergencies. Prior to flying to Midland, TX, my wife and I called Enterprise and inquired about the following itinerary; fly into Midland, pick up a van at Midland, drive to San Angelo, drive to Omaha, NE and return van to Enterprise at the airport in Omaha. All with just a debit card. The Enterprise rep on the phone stated that debit card would be fine as I was dropping the car at an airport and had air itinerary to prove the same. Now, fast forward to the Enterprise counter at Midland. "You don't have a credit card with you? Im not giving you a car. Leave the line." I explain several times how I had spoken to Enterprise reps via phone, prior to traveling, that all I needed was a debit card. I was denied service. I presented a confirmation email, along with call logs with Enterprise. The young man I was speaking with didn't seem to care one bit. Even after explaining the gravity of not being able to receive a rental car. A woman who seemed to be his boss, advised that he needed to honor the rental. She spoke with me and explained that debit rentals were fine when your plane itinerary was for the same airport and not two different airports. I referred to the agency's website where this was not elaborated; solely that you were only required to provide return flight itinerary, not for the same airport. She agreed and provided the car. I was nearly left stranded in Midland, TX, with no effort to remedy the situation. Thankfully the young woman intervened and made the situation right. I wish I knew her name. She was African American. I hate to make assumptions but she seemed to have a Caribbean accent. She was a life saver!!!!!! Thank you miss!

Have rented vehicles here on several occasions for business purposes, the last few times the…read morevehicles I have received were dirty, unclean and overall unacceptable. I get that it's mostly us individuals in the Oil & Gas industry and service industry, but when our companies pay good money for rental's then Avis should ensure that the vehicles are clean, well kept and ready for the next customer. This rental I had this time looks like it had not been cleaned in several weeks or months, and yes it's disgusting getting into a dirty rental vehicle especially not knowing who was in it previously. I will look to use another rental company go forward and will also make our corporate office aware of this.

When it became my turn, as the counter agent was processing my reservation, she immediately asked "basic or extended coverage?" I was shocked and said how about NO coverage! I then got my estimated bill, and my $14.57 ($19.40 with taxes) bill had almost doubled to $36!! My reservation base rate had changed from $14.57 to $21.11. Why!?! She also wanted me to sign the fuel & damage checkout sheet without ever seeing the car! That sheet said the car was full of gas. When I got to the car, I found damage, plus it only had 5/8 of a tank. When I went back inside, she said just bring it back at same amount. When I asked her to initial beside the 5/8, she got very huffy and demanded to go see for herself. A manager did state that all the add on charges are because they are "an independent local rental company that rents Dollar cars. There were added fees that she said the local owners add on and do not allow anyone to waive! To rent the car, straighten out all the billing issues, then correct the gas level, it took over an hour to rent the car and leave the airport. For a small airport like Midland, that is totally unacceptable!

They helped make an extremely stressful situation much better by helping us change the pickup locations easily...three times! Despite all the changes, the cars were clean & ready for pickup when we arrived at Midland. I received a beautiful brand new Toyota Camry & my brother a new Nissan Altima.
