I was a bit apprehensive having read a bunch of bad reviews here and on other review sites about this location beforehand, but I didn't have any other options for a one-way rental to NYC at the last minute. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at the location. It likely helped that I was renting on a weekday after a long weekend, so I didn't have an issue with big lines or with enough cars being ready. The lot seemed pretty full. The employee at the desk named Said who checked me in was very helpful and friendly. I reserved a car for a one-way trip, and upon realizing the first vehicle was not quite large enough, he allowed me to swap to a different vehicle no questions asked. I really appreciated it! Taking off one star, though, because both cars were a bit old - the first option was a '18 Civic with almost 80k miles. The second was slightly better: a '20 Elantra with 40k. Neither vehicle should really even be on their lot anymore, frankly. But hey - it got me to where I needed to go.

I'm really bummed out to have to write this review. Enterprise is my favorite business from which…read moreto rent a car, but unfortunately, this location really failed to meet the high standards I've received at all other Enterprise locations. I came to this Enterprise Rent-A-Car location, at the Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), during a business trip just over three months ago. I purposely waited to write this review in order to allow Enterprise plenty of time to make up for their error, but they never did, after multiple correspondence and inquiries. My experience here deteriorated almost immediately after I arrived at IAD. I flew into IAD as a major thunderstorm was rolling through the area. It was exceedingly cold and windy, so much so that several folks inside IAD delayed walking outside the airport building until they could visibly see their rental car shuttle or hotel shuttle arrive. I did the same, and as I saw the Alamo/Enterprise/National shuttle pull up, I ran out into the thunderstorm, quickly and awkwardly, with all my luggage. Just as I ran up to the rental car shuttle, the driver pulled away. Needless to say, I was wet, freezing cold, and immediately annoyed. I also ended up catching the flu shortly after this, and it took me a few weeks to fully recover. After arriving at this Enterprise Rent-A-Car location, I was quickly helped by a gentleman named Ethan. He was professional and pleasant, so I thought the remainder of my experience with this Enterprise would be fine. He got me all set up with my rental car for the week, which ended up being a Nissan Versa. It was "ok" for a cheap little economy car, but I figured it would at least meet my low expectations for a rental car. I ended up driving this car all over the VA/DC/MD area, for five days, and the car drove fine. But, I kid you not, two big problems popped up just as I was driving back to IAD to catch my flight back home, which was a very inconvenient time due to my desire to be punctual. First, a police officer pulled me over, which sent my stress and anxiety levels up through the roof. After waiting in the car for quite some time, parked, with the policeman's lights on behind me, the police officer eventually walked up alongside my driver's side window and told me that he pulled me over because there were no registration stickers on the license plate. It turns out that Enterprise forgot to place them on. After resolving this with the officer, who was very kind and understanding, I departed once again, headed for the airport. It was only a few minutes later when the second problem occurred. A warning light displayed on the car's dashboard informing me that one of the tires was going flat. Needless to say, I came back to this Enterprise Rent-A-Car location thinking that this would be a 1-star Yelp rating. Shortly after parking the car, a gentleman came out to greet me and check-in the car. His name was Matthew. He asked me "how was your experience with Enterprise?," and I politely told him the story. He was surprised and immediately apologetic, asking if there was anything that he could do to "make this right." He ultimately offered to give me a bonus for two one-day future car rentals, for free. He said that this would take about three weeks to be credited into my account. The credit never came. Over the next several weeks, I had multiple email exchanges with this particular Enterprise Rent-A-Car location, with at least three different managers who all pledged to "make this right." I believe their intent was sincere, but none of them ever followed through. In the end, now over three months later, this credit was never sent to me. If I had received this credit from Enterprise, I had planned to be writing a glorious 5-star review. Unfortunately, and sadly, this review is quite different. Ultimately, this was a miserable experience, and Enterprise repeatedly said they would "make up for it," but they never did. Needless to say, I'll never come back to this particular Enterprise Rent-A-Car location. And, I honestly feel that, for me, this location has tarnished the good Enterprise name.

Unexpected damage claim after return and disappointing customer service…read more I have rented vehicles from Alamo Rent a Car about 3-4 times a year for roughly the past 10 years. Up until recently, every rental experience had been smooth and uneventful. However, my most recent rental in February 2026 was followed by an issue that has been both surprising and frustrating. Approximately four weeks after returning the vehicle, I began receiving emails from the Damage Recovery Unit (DRU) stating that a damage claim had been opened related to my rental. According to the notice, I was being asked to pay about $1,500, which reportedly included repair costs and "loss of use." This was unexpected. When I returned the vehicle, it appeared to be in good condition, and the return process was completed without any issues being raised at the time. I received the normal rental receipt confirming the agreement was closed and payment was processed. I did not take photos at the time of return, which in hindsight I wish I had done. Because the claim arrived several weeks later, I initially questioned whether the email might even be legitimate. After confirming it appeared to come from the damage recovery unit working on behalf of Enterprise Holdings (the parent company of Alamo), I called the number provided to understand the situation. After about 25 minutes on hold, a representative answered and collected my claim number, name, and address. I was then transferred to another representative. After an additional 4-8 minutes on hold, I was asked to provide the same information again. When I attempted to explain that I had returned the vehicle without any known damage and wanted clarification about the claim, I was told that because a dispute had already been filed, there was nothing that could be discussed during the call. The call ended shortly afterward without further explanation. To be clear, I understand that administrative errors and misunderstandings can occur in large organizations. My concern is primarily with the lack of communication and assistance when attempting to understand the claim. After being a long-time customer, I found the experience disappointing and hope the matter can be resolved. In the meantime, I would strongly recommend that anyone renting a vehicle from Alamo Rent a Car document the vehicle carefully (including photos) at both pickup and return, as it may help avoid confusion later.

Absolutely the Worst Rental Experience - Would Give -5000 Stars if Possible…read more I rented a car through Costco Travel with Budget Car Rental at IAD for one week, with a total quoted price of $397.47. My flight arrived late at night, and I had to wait 70 minutes at the rental counter to complete the process. There were over 20 people in line and only one staff member working. The wait was excessive and showed a complete lack of regard for customers. The next morning (May 10, 2025), the rear right tire pressure dropped to 16 PSI. I had to stop at a gas station to inflate it. That afternoon, the tire pressure dropped again, so I contacted Costco Travel for assistance. They transferred me to Budget's roadside assistance, but my call was disconnected twice for no reason. No one followed up. I had to inflate the tire a second time just to keep using the car. On the morning of May 11, the tire pressure dropped again to 17 PSI (see attached photo). I took the car to a local Budget branch at the Marriott Hotel in Tysons Corner, McLean, VA, hoping to swap the vehicle. They refused to help and told me to return the car to the airport location, which was more than 30 minutes away, one way. I didn't feel safe driving a car with a recurring tire issue on the highway, and I didn't want to spend hours dealing with more lines. With no other choice, I returned the car to that local branch--not because I wanted to, but because Budget's service left me no safe or reasonable alternative. To make things worse, the final e-receipt showed a charge of $445.90 for just 36 hours with the car--$48.43 more than the full-week rental I had booked. It felt like daylight robbery. I contacted Costco Travel for help. After 70 days of back-and-forth, they told me Budget would only offer a $40 adjustment, citing that the issue "wasn't reported to the customer service team or pickup location"--even though I clearly tried to contact Budget and had my calls disconnected. Costco Travel offered no meaningful support and seemed unwilling to advocate for the customer. Disappointing, to say the least. Even though the car didn't break down completely, I returned it early due to safety concerns, and I should have been charged only for the time I used the car, prorated. Instead, I was charged more than the full-week rental for a car I had less than two days--and that had issues from the start. I will never rent from Budget again. Their customer service is terrible, their response to problems is nonexistent, and their billing practices are downright dishonest. Thankfully, there are other rental options out there--and I will be using them from now on. Updates on Sep 24, 2025 I tried to dispute with my credit card company on this insane and dishonest charge. After months waiting, I was informed today that my dispute failed. Again, Budget car rental sucks. Avoid it by all means. Waste of time and money, no service.
