I could get lost in this place all day. If you're willing to look, there are great deals to be found. They have 20+ used dressage saddles in various sizes and most are in great condition. The prices reflect the age and use of the saddles and are negotiable. Staff is both knowledgeable and courteous. There aren't a lot of tack stores that sell on consignment with such a variety of choices. Worth the trip. read more

As a lifelong horse owner, I was excited to finally visit Norco and check out some of the local flavor and businesses. I guess that was a mistake! It turns out Norco's the kind of place where people feel safe about openly supporting racist, Nazi ideology.i wasn't going to go into the store based on the signage but my partner decided we should at least look since we had an hour to kill. I saw inattentive teenage cashiers and a lot of dusty saddles in various stages of rot. There were some weird odds and ends, like a discarded Arabian costume saddle and multiple shelves of crusty bits. I might have bought a couple small grooming supplies but I don't give money to fascists. This store is the kind of place where once-useful equipment and basic human decency go to die. read more

I had been dying to come to Thrifty Horse ever since I purchased my first horse, however my experience was rather lackluster. Most tack was incredibly overpriced, new & used. It's a dark & old little store, not welcoming in the slightest. The ladies who work there were not the friendliest & continued to rush us throughout our shopping experience. I would potentially recommend if you are searching for a western saddle as that selection was decent but any other tack your better off buying brand new or online. If you're in Norco it's worth checking out but, definitely nothing to make a trip over. read more

This place is amazing! If you want it, they've got it, new or gently used! This was our first time, and after we got what we came for, we had to take another lap just to browse all the assortment. Being city folk, it was awe inspiring to see the craftsmanship of all the bridles, saddles, boots and accessories up close. We almost got a small horse blanket for the dog because they are just $5. This is the first thrift horse tack shop I've visited . Friend wanted to check them out as we were in the area . It's a very large store with quite a bit of used and new selection . We were impressed with the amount of saddles . Some looked very used while others looked good . Lots of clothes to choose from as well . But , the prices of their clothes were expensive . I asked how one can tell new clothes from consignment clothes . Any tag with number 949 means new clothes . I asked how they could tell if clothes were new and the nice girl said they could usually visually see . COVID 19 WARNING 6/26 I went to Thrifty Horse, a consignment shop for horse stuff that I've always liked. NONE of the staff had on masks. I asked the cashier, who said something about being Americans blah blah blah. I said that masks protect customers, and that because my husband is diabetic, I have to be careful. The owner heard and said "Well this is a consignment shop so we're probably full of all kinds of germs ha ha". Really? She also told me that since I was wearing a mask, I was protected. I tried to explain that masks actually protect others then just gave up. It's her store and her risk after all. They were nice enough to cash out my gift card, since I can't shop there until this is over. I can also say that many people in Norco seem to be ignoring the new mandate to wear masks (glad I live elsewhere). read more

Unbelievable. I offered to buy 4 children's books at $1 each. After some research, they agreed. However, since I was also buying other items and returning one, the cost of the books was simply somewhere in the mix. It wasn't until 1AM, when I found the receipt, that I discovered they had charged me a total of $12.50 for them (see attached picture for receipt). On top of that, the employee had a confrontational attitude that made my time there uncomfortable and memorable in the wrong way. I have had similar experiences each time I've been there before. I'm taking my used tack and my business elsewhere!!! So very disappointing! read more

Wasn't impressed at all. The girl actually told me that I don't know what I need for my pony. I have a Haflinger/POA Cross that has been hard to saddle fit. This girl tried to put me in a 16.5 seat wide tree after I said I need a 14.5-15 inch seat and extra wide tree. An almost 17 inch seat is waaaayyy too big. She then tried to sell me a $50 nitelatch. (You can get them on Etsy for 15-20$) she said "well these are handmade in America" Yep... so are the ones I found on Etsy. Attitudes do a lot for you, especially a poor attitude. I won't be back. Should have listened to the other poor reviews. read more

Stopped by a couple weeks ago for the first time and was disappointed by the unfriendly staff, ragged merchandise, and their unsafe pandemic protocols. I definitely won't be going back. I almost didn't go in when I saw the warning sign on the door that they are not requiring staff to wear masks because it's a "personal choice." Well, I walked in and only a couple customers were wearing masks, the store is crowded with stuff so it's difficult to social distance unless you detour, and the staff was totally unfriendly - maybe because I had a mask on they made assumptions about me? Anyway, the used items (wraps, saddle pads) ranged from ragged to okay. Some of the saddles were in really poor shape, almost unsafe to ride in. Overall, I was unimpressed and decided to get my sundries (brushes, treats, buckets) down the street at Kahoots, where the prices were comparable or better, the store was open and tidy, and the service was friendly. read more

The staff are super nice and very helpful unfortunately they do not have a lot of draft tack but lots of other goodies and supplies for all your horses needs. They wrote me a bad check for $1,008. It bounced twice and charged me $70 and I went directly to their chase bank to be told Thrifty Horse's bank account is already overdrafted and can't give me cash to fulfill their customer's bad check. The store employees are just that, employees. They have no idea what's going on as much as I do. My husband has been in the hospital for heart failure and we counted on that money. *Updated* After multiple calls we finally got a hold of the owner & were paid the money due. I bought a 3,000 dollar saddle from thrifty horse after spending months trying to fit my mutton withered horse! I was so happy with my saddle but so upset to find that after leaving my old saddle with Thrifty Horse to sell I would get nothing in return. After they sold my saddle they called and told me I would have to come to the store to pick up my check, they would not mail it. Finally after several calls and emails the manager said said she would mail the check to San Clemente where I live but would deduct the cost of the stamp "really".... Thinking this was silly at that point I was just relieved to be done with the whole process. 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months.... I never got a check!!! I called them and emailed them for months and no one responded. I finally gave up. Horrible business will never go there again. I hope this helps others. read more

Massive selection of saddles and tack. I expected the store to focus on Western, but the English selection was just as large. I was able to try out a variety of saddles until I found one that fit and was in my price range. You have to know what you want and what the market price is. Some items are great deals and some are not. Staff is hit and miss. Some are willing to go the extra mile but one lady who was helping me wandered off and never came back. read more

The most dissapointing customer service ever experienced, a complete let down. I am transitioning from Dressage to Western for college and bought my first horse a couple of months ago. I drove from Las Vegas to Norco after doing some research on used saddles, I called ahead and they seemed friendly and willing to help. Upon arriving at the store I asked the smiling clerk at the counter for help and that's when everything changed..."You have to tell me something, I don't know who you spoke to you or what was said". Those statements were followed by a plethra of unsolicited comments and questions, "Where are you going to college? Oh Montana, I have a friend that went there and she is supposed to be a trainer, what is she going to do with that? What are you going to with that? Why are you switching to western, have you EVER done barrels? I Do three day eventing"...What ever happened to focusing on the customer? We ended up driving to Broken Horn in Baldwin Park where we received the much deserved customer service and guidance needed. read more

I went with my friend to help her find a pair of riding spurs and we were helped by a gentleman named Blaze. He was the first person to greet us in a welcoming and friendly manner. He helped us pick out the types of spurs/straps needed to fit my friend and he even helped put the straps on the spurs once the purchase was made. We did not even need to ask. Not only is this place stacked to the ceiling with excellent tack but the people there really know there stuff - whether you ride English or Western there is someone there to help you find whatever suits your particular needs. This was my first time buying a saddle and it was truly a great experience for me. The prices on saddles are quite reasonable and they have a huge variety to choose from - and the fact that most everything is consignment means you can make a good deal a great deal with a little bit of haggling. im so angry im shaking.worst customer service ever.I would never recommend them to anyone or shop there ever again.My saddle sdge on Nov 30th and was returned Dec 1st.I called quite a few times and we assured my saddle sold and come and get my check after the 16th of Dec. It is Dec 20th .I called yesterday just to make sure I would be able pick up my check today and again was reassured my saddle sold and it was okays to get my check.i drove to Norco from Fallbrook this morning only to be told when I got there that my saddle had been returned Dec 1st!! im so angry.I am leaving with my saddle and a bad taste in my mouth.The staff was very rude and unapolagetic.Do not do anything business with them. read more
