Stay away! Do not rent a car from this company (Brevard Capital Group/Thrifty Car Rental on S Apollo Blvd and Bobcock across from Sonic). They charged me $100 for cleaning the car because they said they found dog's hair in the car. I never had my dog in that car, my dog does not go out because she is aggressive. I requested pictures of the car inside to proof it and to this day they have not provided the pictures. I rather pay extra in another rental company that will be fair and honest than giving my money to a company that takes people's money because is the only way they can stay open. The only reason why I rented from them was because it was easier for our dealership that was fixing out Denali to get all the paperwork on time. But, I told the advisor at the dealership that I would never use this company ever again. read more

Was getting my car serviced at Boniface Kia and needed a rental, I certainly was a little worried about what my experience would be based on the reviews on google and yelp but everything went great! Someone picked me up at the dealership and brought me to their location on S Apollo. On arrival the staff were friendly, and the car they put me in was spotless inside and out, even smelled nice. When I was done with the car I dropped it off at the dealership and got my statement emailed to me a couple days later with no surprise fees or anything of the sort. I know my experience may not be the exact same as an airport rental, but I wanted to share since these reviews certainly had me concerned about how the rental would go. I understand that folks are more likely to leave a negative review when things go wrong than a positive when they go right, but the positives should also be shared. read more

They are trying to charge me $800 for a crack in the wind shield that was there when I got car. Manager hung up on me prior when he over charged me for gas. Terrible customer service just look at reviews on here and google. read more

If you value the safety of your family stay away from this company. My dealership put me in a rental from here while my car was getting warranty work. The first vehicle they put me in had windshield wipers that were inoperable - I realized this when I hit a storm going to Orlando. I called them to explain what was going on and asked if I could change the vehicle out in Orlando - they said no and told me to return the vehicle to Melbourne (an hour away) even though a tropical storm was directly on top of me. The second vehicle was no better - the tires were at 2/32 and there was a star in the windshield. When I returned the vehicle they charged me to replace the windshield and also for tolls even though I had told them that I would put my own E-PASS transponder in the car, which I did and I had the plate assigned to my account. When I called to dispute the charge they explained that they have a third party vendor and that they would reach out to me. It's been days with no reply. I'm now disputing the charges with my credit card company. Do yourself a favor and avoid the hassle - rent from a reputable company like Enterprise. read more

Ugh! Stay away! We booked a rental through Priceline for an Altima "or similar" over 6 months in advance of our trip. When reservation was close Priceline sent a reminder with "Jetta or similar". We arrive at the airport and offered a small Elantra -- which I questioned since I though I reserved a mid-size car -- and was "upsold" into Altima. I thought "whatever, just get me to the resort." AND THEY OVERCHARGED MY CREDIT CARD FROM THE AMOUNT CONTRACTED! I was pissed, so I brought up the original reservation to see it was Altima to begin with! Now I'm furious. I called 4 times over 2 days and it only goes to voicemail. I argued with my credit card company, but since there was a signed contract for the upsell they declined, but I found another phone number: same problem -- right into voicemail with no return calls. Even worse, they know the game: they wrote to the credit card company on dispute letter to refund part of it (the difference between contract amount and extra charge) but the credit card company explained they don't do that -- it's on the vendor. Worse, now I can't re-dispute the charge and need to keep calling the credit card company to correct the issue. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER! read more

This car rental location is the worse! The did not honor a reservation I made. They told me their location is a franchise and they don't have to honor what corporate offices dictate. Huh? They were extremely rude about it also. Very dismissive. I walked across the lobby and Hertz took great care of me. Hertz pricing was even cheaper. 10/11/19 I made a reservation to rent a car on October 3rd through the Thrifty franchisee at the Melbourne, Florida airport. When I arrived, I was informed by the Customer Service Representative that the manager did not permit customers to take their cars out of state. The confirmation stated that out of state travel was not permitted unless the manager approved. I did not see that notification. However, I asked the CSR if she could speak to the manager and request permission for me to take the car out of state. The CSR said that she would not call him because she knew he would not approve. I asked for the CSR's business card and I asked her to write the name of her manager on the back of the card. She gave me her card but only wrote the manager's first name on the back of the card. I asked for the manager's last name. The CSR refused to provide the manager's last name. There are seven (7) reviews of this Thrifty car rental franchisee. All seven of the reviews are one star reviews and more than one of the reviews involve similar issues to my complaint. I wish that I had read the reviews prior to booking my original reservation because I would have NEVER made this reservation given the track record of this Thrifty franchisee. I would rate this Thrifty franchisee as zero stars if that option were provided. read more

This rental company is very bad and dishonest. I Rented a car there and when I returned it no one was at the counter when I returned to drop of. So I waited because I was local and I wanted a receipt. A women final came and checked me out. She claimed they were going to email my receipt but I never got it so I went back to the airport 2 days later. Found out they charged me a late fee. I told them I was here in fact I was early and sat in the lobby waiting for someone to come. They stated the manger had to reverse the charges it's been a week now and they still have yet to return my money nor have I heard from the manger. I went back again to let them know I still have not received my money so she sent another message. I will never rent at this place again. I should have took note of the horrible reviews they had! I would avoid this branch at all costs. Like others, I arrived at the counter to discover that they have a mileage limitation and do not allow you to drive the car outside of Florida. I had to cancel the reservation and go to another company, which cost an extra $150 because I had no reservation there. I travel extensively and these kinds of limitation are simply not used anywhere else. There were other indications that this was a shady outfit. Save yourself a lot of grief and book elsewhere. The issue is that this is a franchisee and they've decided to set their own rules. Personally, I will never again book a Thrifty rental because if this can happen at one location, it can happen at others. read more

I have rented cars around the globe. There is a HUGE difference between corporate and franchise rental agencies. Unfortunately, this Thrifty location is a franchise (Grrrr .... I didn't do my research). We arrived in Melbourne, FL and had to call Thrifty for a pick-up, they failed to mention that they do not have a regular shuttle. The girl picked us up fairly quickly so we were waiting too long. We arrived back at the office and the check in process was quick (I appreciate that). We chose what we thought would be the better of the two cars, Mitsubishi Galant. The odometer has 42K miles but it's in pretty rough shape and seems like a much older car (hopefully that's not mileage rolled over from 100K). There are cigarette burns on the interior (and the smell to go along with that), the traction control light is on because the button is broken, the passenger window goes down sometimes and other times not, and it doesn't drive all that nice. It's getting us where we need to go, but considering the other half of our party got their car for $10 less and got a nicer car, I feel like we were taken to the cleaners. Would never rent from this location again. If you want to charge premium prices then you need to have decent cars. this was crap. read more

Do not rent from this company. They are rip off and scam artists. I rented a car from them while my car was I. The shop. I tried to get the rental car registered to my sunpass transponder. When I could not accomplish it, I called the local desk and the clerk told me that their cars are already registered with sunpass and everything is ok. I specifically asked if there were any other charges other than the tolls and I was told no. Well a few weeks afterwards I get a revised bill charging me for the tolls which I am more than willing to pay but also a $50 processing fee. I went to the rental counter in the airport and they told me "too bad" and they would have the owner call me. Well never received a call. I am a local person that was deceived think of how they will treat a tourist or business person here for a short period of time. You are better off paying a little more from a reputable rental agency rather than get deceived. read more

Bait and switch experience using Travelocity. We reserved a Thrifty car via Travelocity which was specifically for unlimited miles and all taxes included. When we got to the airport, they informed us they limited miles for customers who reserve through third parties, and showed us a Travelocity printout where for some contracts they can limit miles. However, I showed them the reservation I had from Travelocity when I reserved the car which specifically stated unlimited miles and even in the "exceptions and exclusion" section did not mention a restriction. The customer service person seemed delighted to describe how often she has to argue with customers about this issue... We went to Avis where they said the problem occurs all the time. read more
