What I found instead was a place that challenged me, supported me, made me laugh, made me think, and gave me tools and perspectives I know I'll carry with me long after leaving. The biggest reason this program works is the people. The clinicians were all different in the best possible way. Some sessions were deeply thought-provoking, some were practical, some helped reconnect mind and body, and some somehow started with one simple question and ended with me realizing something about myself I had never seen before. I never felt like there was one rigid way I was supposed to heal. I felt like the staff genuinely wanted to understand me and help me figure out what I actually needed. Just as important was the overall environment. From the people greeting you when you walk in, to the check-ins, the humor, the encouragement, the familiar faces, and the small moments when you realize someone actually remembers what you told them -- it all adds up. There was a genuine sense of care here that is hard to describe unless you experience it. The group component also became incredibly important to me. Hearing other people be honest about what they were going through made me feel less isolated, and I learned just as much from the people sitting beside me as I did from many of the formal sessions. One of the biggest things I'm taking away is that support can guide you, but eventually you have to become an active part of your own rescue. That lesson changed something for me. I got more out of a few months at Rockland than I expected to get from any behavioral health program. I will forever be grateful to the people there and for the role they played in a very important chapter of my life. I would absolutely recommend Rockland Recovery Group to anyone who is struggling and considering getting help. I called ahead to see if I could walk in around 6pm on a weekday for symptoms of strep throat/sore…read morethroat. I was informed I didn't so I quickly made my way over. The young lady on the phone was pleasant and friendly. However, when I got there, there were two young ladies at the desk who looked at me like I had 10 heads. Neither one welcomed me or said a word to me until I said something first. They both seemed so bothered. Overall the front desk staff was not friendly nor were they clear with their directions. The waiting area was clean and tidy. Seemed like I was the only one there. I didn't wait for long. I filled out the form and waited maybe 5 minutes and the MA, I believe her name was Maddison? Starts with an M. She was super friendly and easy going. She definitely knows the area well. I recently moved to the area and didn't have a pharmacy in mind. She quickly asked where I moved to and immediately suggested a cvs pharmacy I am familiar with 5 minutes from me. Shortly after she took my rapid strep test, the provider was in in less than 10 minutes. Dr. Paul Paganelli-- he was amazing! He listened to all my concerns and was super personal. He prescribed me antibiotics and I was on my way!! He made sure to walk me out and quickly sent the orders to my pharmacy. On my way to pharmacy, I received a text saying my prescription was ready for pick up! Amazing back end staff who truly cares.
