When i started looking into med pot Drs during the pandemic i have to admit, it was pretty daunting trying to figure out who was the right one to go with. Thankfully i came across Dr Caplan and CED clinic who actually called and set up an appt with me after 10pm on a weeknight immediately following my visit to their site on a whim. Not only is Dr Caplan one the most knowledgeable medical marijuana doctors in the field for adults and children (special cases only) he also offers a bevy information including what dispensaries offer deals to new patients and where to go discounts when you renew not to mention courses on growing your own medicine! When i returned on for my first renewal i complained to Dr Caplan that i was exceeding my 10 ounce limit too quickly due to the stringent rules regarding concentrates (5 grams is equal to 28 grams of flower) and he doubled my allotment and since then i havent come close to needing to go out of state or to the gray market to get the medicine i need. My experience with CED was painless. I had some questions before I made my decision to renew with them. Jack, who is Dr. Caplan's assistant, answered all my questions about the process and helped me make my mind up to renew with CED Clinic. I am a medical marijuana patient. I had an ( virtual) appointment with Dr. Caplan He was helpful and explained products that would likely work as well as those that were less likely effective for my needs. I had my appointment to make sure I still qualified as a medical marijuana patient. All was in order and my new card should arrive in a couple of weeks. but After waiting another week I contacted couple of weeks I checked on Mass Cannabis Control web page. I tried 1/2 dz times reached out to supervisors by voice and web page. I got so frustrated and thought to contact Dr Caplan. I am GLAD I DID. The CED cannabis clinic led by Caitlin Bernhard, MSN, FNP in Northampton, Ma is a wonderful place to get approved for a medical card. I scheduled my appointment online for the CED clinic in Northampton, Ma. I got there and it was a clean, new, wonderful clinic run by women. Caitlin is wonderful and took a ton of time to answer my questions. She made some recommendations and they were right on regarding an autoimmune disease I have. She suggested a cannabis med I could try and it has helped. (I never would have thought to try it otherwise) I highly recommend this clinic. I can't recommend Dr. Caplan highly enough. This was my third medical marijuana certification review (original plus two renewals), and the previous two doctors were just perfunctory form-fillers in shabby offices in remote office parks. Dr. Caplan is a REAL cannabis doctor who's deeply knowledgeable about medical marijuana and clearly explains EXACTLY how to use it for YOUR specific conditions. He also has a real doctor's office in a real medical building right on Boylston Street (Route 9) in Chestnut Hill ( not far from NETA Brookline, my dispensary of choice.) AND THE VISIT IS COVERED BY MEDICAL INSURANCE! I've become somewhat knowledgeable about what works for my primary complaint (chronic pain from spinal stenosis w/ radiculopathy) and what to avoid, but he gave me brand new ways to deal with my insomnia (including how and when to use edibles, which hadn't worked for me before b/c I didn't really know what I was doing) and arthritis in my hands (including a simple recipe to make topical lotion that's stronger and cheaper than the commercial products). I interrupted him with frequent questions, which he answered at whatever level of detail and technical information I wanted. I had been deeply dissatisfied with the cannabis doctors I went to before, but Dr. Caplan is an outstanding DOCTOR who happens to specialize in medical marijuana because he cares about helping patients for whom traditional medicine hasn't fully met their needs. You can book appointments on his web site, although my wait time was more than 30 minutes (during which I filled out his online patient questionnaire on my phone and ate all the Kit Kats in his candy basket), but it was well worth it. This is a relatively new practice, I believe, and it's going to get a lot busier as word spreads. But just do yourself a favor and go: this is what state-of-the-art medical marijuana care is supposed to be like. read more

I very much had the opposite experience with Dr. Caplan which is why I felt it was important to write a review. Dr. Caplan was knowledgeable, professional and I didn't get the condescending vibe from him at all. I had a ton of questions and it was a really great conversation where I left feeling far more knowledgeable than when I went in. I felt like this was a good decision for me and I felt like I was better prepared to know what to inquire about when actually beginning my treatment. I've been working with Dr. Caplan for a couple years now and I'm a big fan of him and his practice. He answered all of my questions and gave me a great deal of useful information (while emphasizing that I didn't have to absorb all of it right away). Dear fellow yelpers, I didn't come to Dr. Caplan as a direct patient, but I did have the fortunate opportunity to work in his office as an intern in the past recent months. Myself, I often resort to cannabis as a way to help me fall asleep at night and stay asleep and I can advocate that cannabis has been extremely helpful and refreshing as a new passage of treatment for me. Other than general knowledge, I was a rookie when it came to the specifics of why cannabis is so successful in many ways... but after all, that is why people like Dr. Caplan exist! Dr. Caplan was super informative from the first day I stepped into the office, providing me with in-depth knowledge and material about various cannabis treatments and why so many people with varying diagnoses can find relief with with medical marijuana. The office is nice and convenient and Dr. Caplan seems knowledgeable. However he was somewhat condescending, and when asked substantive questions, he refused to go into much detail. I would have preferred he actually answer my question. I paid $200 but I could have learned everything he said by reading the five-page pamphlet he gave me on the way out the door. I recently had my first appointment with Dr. Caplan after reading negative reviews of so many other medical marijuana certification "places". I can't say enough good things about my visit with him. To start with he's a very compassionate,caring doctor. I'm a 63 yr old woman and had never used marijuana or "street drugs", so I was feeling nervous about trying it. I recently started chemo therapy at Dana-Farber and the side effects have been difficult to deal with. In particular, insomnia and a bit of evening anxiety. He is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of medical marijuana .Dr Caplan patiently explained how there are so many options to chose from and exactly what each was helpful for. With that said, he suggested several products for me to try . I now know what helps me, but each person has to use the information he gives and then try different products from a reputable medical dispensary. I plan to have a 2nd appt. with him in a few months just to get his feedback on my experiences and possibly more recommendations.
